You might find that having a global chat channel can help a lot with OOC talk. We have the GGOOC channel for this very purpose, though a lot of recent additions to the statue don't seem to use it.

And my Miss Ellie character wouldn't help anyone unless she either knew them, or it was a case of walking in on a mugging or similar. An appeal for help would be replied with a simple, "Sorry, but I can't help you."

Why? Because she's retired from the hero business. She just couldn't take the stress of everything, especially given some of the nasty things that's happened to her... Kinda of a shame really as she's one of the most powerfull heroe's around GG...

These days, she visits the statue still, but mostly chats with her old friends, and runs her clothing boutique.

Well... It all depends WHEN in August! I'm away from the 4th to the 11th, but not sure if I'll have the cash for a 2nd trip away in the same month...

As a slight aside to all this Bridger, do you often have to issue warnings or take other actions against forum users? Is it something that's rare, occaisional, or frequent?

Of course, I know you can't and won't give numbers or anything like that, just curious as to how often people drop themselves in it on here...

Union is actually the official unofficial RP server. You're FAR more likely to find people to RP with on Union than you will on Defiant, though it DOES exist to a small extent.

RP takes many forms on Union... There's the casual PUG RP stuff, which will often get you funny looks... SG RPing which can be fun with the right crowd... And there's the Galaxy Girl meets at 9pm every day. These though, are far more for the social side of heros, their 'off time' if you will. Although there is frequently plenty of action going down there too!

The Tempest guys do visit the statue too, so that's probably a good place to meet them IC and get to know them for some missioning!

Such is a tiny example of what we RPers have to put up with, even on Union...

Yet, we keep doing it, we just have REALLY big ignore lists!

At least you girls don't require a wide-angle lens!

The problem with roleplaying in missions, is that it's NOT very easy... You will find that several times in the mission you'll just have no choice but to drop OOC because of various circumstances the game engine will throw at you, not to mention that the game story will likely conflict with your RPing.

This is why we tend to run our own plots, and use NPC's and on occaision, the arena.

Was a great weekend, had lots of fun and food was yummy!

The con was... HOT! Seriously... The place was like a sauna without the steam! Seeing everyone was by far the best bit though, and especially our "special guest" for dinner!

Well... It depends what kind of roleplay you are looking for, By far the best known RP is what happens at the GG statue nightly from 9pm on the Union server, but this isn't everyone's cup of tea as it's generally the more social time, where heroes get together in their off-time.

There is other RP as well, mainly in SG's, but I can't tell you where to look.

For the GG meets, gameplay doesn't come in to it as we rarely will RP game based missions. Instead we run our own plots, with PC villains and suchlike. Generally, we find the game missions either too unwieldy, or too contradictory, for satisfactory roleplay, but YMMV.

Yes, it's been getting rather different in there recently. Which is why I'm going to crack down on it as best I can. Any problems, please sent a tell to a channel mod. They're the ones with a star by their names in the channel list.
