  1. Also, in reference to the color debate, you'll note that Tyrant's updated look (Circa Going Rogue Trailer) incorporates what appears to a blueish-gray, silver, gold, and a little of deep red or possibly brown.

Going on reasoning, I'm inclined to agree with GG, however I believe that Going Rogue is already geared towards the usage of Gray. Therefore, in the event we do get new loading screens, I surmise that gray will represent the Praetorians, regardless of their morality.

We'll just have to wait and see.

This would be true, save for the fact that Marcus Cole killed Stephan Richter at the well of the furies on Praetorian Earth, I believe.
  3. MA in my experience is a fantastic set, both Aesthetically and Damage-wise. Coupled with a decent secondary (Shields, WP, etc) It can be a very potent build.

My MA/Shield scrapper merely has to walk into a x8 Mob, Build up, Shield Charge, Dragon's tail and then pick off the leftover Bosses and LT's, each requiring 1-2 hits with the weaker attacks, 3 at the most. Using Eagle's Claw or Crippling Axe Kick, make that 1 hit with some overkill.
  4. It's not the word itself.

NCSoft has to protect their own interests. If this person was ofended by you when you said God, or Gay, either or....then NCSoft has to say something to you because you offended them.

If you had offended somebody by saying the word 'Cancer' and they got offended because they had a relative who had cancer,it's not because NCSoft is afraid of the word 'Cancer' that you got reprimanded.

But, really, I wouldn't worry about it. They're just covering their butts, and I don't blame em. I'd just drop it.
  5. I do not have tough running, as it is muling the Steadfast IO.

As for the rest, I'm glad it will (apparently) Work out. Having a goal in mind for this old Scrap will hopefully get me to play him for a change
  6. Ok, using Clawsandeffect's build as a guide, I came up with this. It's nearly Identical to his build, but I included Physical perfection and dropped Buildup. Endurance consumption still looks massive, but the recovery is good and may counteract it a bit. Tell me what you think!

  7. FYI, if I hadn't thought I goofed on that build, I wouldn't have posted it.

Thanks for the info. I'll be taking a look at the other thread. I had considered body mastery, but was unsure if it would be very beneficial. Thanks for the info!

Ok, I've looked it over, and I must say it's impressive. However, I would really like to pick up Flashing Steel (and possibly take Gambler's instead of Sting of the Wasp, depending on Werner's reasoning in that move). Would it be heresy to ditch Build Up entirely? Clawsandeffect, in your thread you state that you hardly use it, but would the same be true for Katana?

I would Ditch Cloak of Darkness, but upon reading more about it in Mid's, I feel that leaving it out of my build previously was a foolish thing to do. It seems to be quite a useful power.
  8. When I set out to get my Katana/DA Scrapper IO'ed, my main goal was to make it powerful, survivable, and efficient.

This build was the best I could come up with. I'm not sure how it would perform in-game.

Knowing that there are those out there who have played this combo effectively, what, if anything, am I doing wrong with this build? Would there be a better build to use? Would I be better off deleting this toon (Now a lvl 32) and moving as fast away from Katana/DA as possible? Any feedback is appreciated.

If you still happen to have a spare drive to test it on.. it was probably just that simple.
I had SP1, I only abandoned Vista a few months ago. Being a PC tech, I tried all I could think of and just assumed it to be the nVidia card disagreeing with Vista. Haven't had any trouble since coming back to XP. At any rate, I may install it on my secondary drive for giggles and grins, see if I may be able to get it working.

But back to ATI cards, is something wrong with them? Do they not play well either?

Right. Well, they were nVidia driver crashes, I know because of the info the BSOD gave me. Either way is irrelevant, I guess. I'm going to get the use out of Vista that I should be getting once I get my new system patched together. I just hope Posi answers my PM at all. . I'm sure he will, as he is a just and benevolent Dev

Now, if only he'll reply with a link to a page on Newegg where I can just buy the card...

    Dare I? Dare I dream?

No, It's not an ASAP thing, but I am trying to get a rough price list as soon as I can.

EDIT: Which Hotfix are we talking about? Before switching back to XP, I resigned myself to having nVidia related Crashes if I ever ran CoH. Also, I had Vista 64 installed. Perhaps that was the problem.
  12. I was planning on grabbing an ATI card, simply because Vista and nVidia won't play nice with one another. Is this an unwise decision?
  13. As we are probably all aware, The new Going Rogue expansion will feature "Ultra Mode" a graphical update that will basically make CoH beautiful breathtaking, etc, etc.

However, as I was watching the Keynote Speech from HeroCon, I realized that, for the best performance on my system, I have to leave a few of the Advanced GFX options off. It is with that in mind that I would like to know what sort of system requirements I would need to see Ultra Mode at it's best.

Now, I'll be building a new system soon anyway, which is good, so I can price out exactly what sort of equipment I need to go for.

I do not know weather any of this was mentioned by a Dev, but I am considering asking a Developer through a PM if he could give me any info. There's a chance that may fall through, of course, so I am asking everyone, players and Dev's alike.

So Players, Dev's: What does my new system need for me to see all the wonderful new things GR will have, but still have the best performance possible?
  14. I was toying around in Mid's today trying to come up with a Permadom build for my first real attempt at a Dominator. All the numbers work out right, Domination Recharges in 75 seconds and Hasten in under 120, if only barely. The question is, will the following build suffer from Hasten Crashes too often to make it a viable build, or will it work out pretty well?

The first bit you'll notice is that I didn't use any purple sets. I avoided them like the plague, as a matter of fact, as I don't feel they're cost effective for me. Tell me what you think, any feedback is welcome!

    EDIT:

As of the 25th, there have yet to be any responses the the build. Whether that is good or bad, I do not know. however, I am seriously considering removing the AoE immob, as it interferes with Earth/Earth's primary form of mitigation, which is Knock-up/down. However, As I have yet to see if that approach will be affective, I'm still going with the above approach. Again, any comments would be appreciated!
  15. Okay, The second toon I ever rolled (way back during issue 11) Was a Rad/Rad defender. Got him to 30, then got distracted by other pursuits. Well, Now I'm back to him and, using what I've learned thus far, was trying to come up with a final build for him. I know what powers I want him to have, but, I don't know what I should be shooting for.

I imagine him having a bunch of defense would be improbable, given the powers I chose. I put them all in a Mid's build so you knowlegeably folks could take a peek and see what I want to include.

What I really need are some goals. A build would be perfect , but if I just had an idea of where I was going with him, bonus-wise...I'd probably be able to figure something out.

Thanks in advance for the help.

  16. Hera was not saying anything negative about EM itself. She was merely noting that Energy Melee and Willpower do not work as well together as EM would with other sets.
  17. Oh, Energy Armor? Oh, sorry, EA is the acronym I use for Electric Armor. My bad. Forget I said anything.
  18. You're a bit behind on the times. They already are porting it blueside. With I:16. And they are changing EA to get energize. Haven't you been reading!

I'd put the powers in a more viable order if I were you otherwise when it comes to it you may find getting the slots in powers near the late levels is an issue.
While I understand your reasoning, the taunt IO's in the attacks, in my mind, are there to help overcome that litle gremlin in the corner - The combination of Willpower's Weaker Taunt Aura and Energy Melee's Stuns. If they won't help at all, then I suppose there's no poin in it and I can 2 slot some other damage-typed enhancements.

This was my theory as well. As I am a team-oriented player and never solo, I would find that the team will do sufficient damage on their own. As a tank, my priorities are survivability and keeping the mobs' attention. Build Up, I think, would be good to have, but Stun, to me, serves a more distinct purpose. Ideally, I can work the build around to stick Stun in where it can be slotted a little better, if for nothing else, accuracy and stun duration.
  20. I grabbed stun because I had talked to...I believe Masque...who said that I would need Stun more because it's a more reliable stun since the % is higher and it would be good to have in case of emergencies, for stunning, say, a saper or whatnot. Again, I have no experience with EM, so it sounded good at the time.

Build Up would have the added bonus of keeping me from having an attack that is underslotted, because as it stands, Stun has 1 slot in my build.

In response to the other build that was posted, I played around and slotted combat jumping and a few other of the empties and got the defenses fairly high. However, I'm wondering what I should do with the empty slots in the attacks. Perhaps 2 slotting some of the taunt sets in them would be prudent? Here's what it looks like now.

  21. This may be TL/DR. There's a summary before the build, go there if you're in a hurry

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I rolled a WP/EM tanker because I though, what the hey? I love my Stone/SS, but he's pretty easy to tank with. I wanted to try something challenging and interesting, and I wanted to try some new sets that I hadn't gotten to mess around with before.

Looking through the tanker forums, I came across a guide by Heraclea (who taught me, both through reading and actually tanking alongside Hera) a LOT about tanking. The guide was a guide to Willpower, which I hadn't had the chance to mess around with, and about all the possible pairings for Willpower.

In this guide, she stated that she absolutely could not reccomend Energy Melee as a pairing for WP. And her reasons, as I understand them, are sound. Stuns will make the mob wander out of WP's weaker taunt aura. My only experience with EM was with my First toon, an Nrg/Nrg Blaster. With the concept of trying something new, challenging, and being able to ditch the pink pom-pom's of doom through I:16...I was hooked! And so I rolled...

I know what powers I want on my toon, but I can't seem to find a good way to slot em. Obviously, I'll need to slot Taunt and, also possibly some Taunt in RttC, and possibly slot my attacks with a little taunt as well to overcome the shortcomings of the combo. But I can't get my defense where I want it. I have a build I threw together sort of haphazardly, and I like all the power picks and the places I picked them, for the most part. Could somebody take a look at it and give me some experienced insight as to what I can do to give this guy a fighting chance?

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, for those who feel this is TL/DR, here's the short version:

What do I need to do to improve this build, save for re-choosing powers, since I'm happy with the choices I made? This build is, in no way, a finished product. This is the build in the state it was in at the exact moment I decided to ask for help

  22. Okay, I finally got around to toying with a potential build that I liked and this is what I came up with.

I hate hasten, therefore I skipped Hasten. I went the Melee Defense route, took Power Surge for those "Oh noes!" moments, and Managed to get a pretty decent build, in my opinion. Questions, comments, critiques? Also planning on using a similar build for a EA/WM Tanker, but, that's later.
