Questions of a Kat/Dark Scrapper
I would recommend Gambler's Cut over Sting of the Wasp for your end game attack chain. You'd benefit from a Theft of Essence proc in Dark Regeneration. You'd benefit from a Kismet unique. I'd slot Divine Avalanche as an attack, use it in your attack chain, and pick up the remaining defense from elsewhere - Cloak of Darkness, Weave, set bonuses. Defense would do you a lot more good than slotting Cloak of Fear for the to-hit debuffs, I'd say. Attacks seem generally underslotted. I occasionally five-slot an attack, but I try to avoid it. I wouldn't personally run both Cloak of Fear and Oppressive Gloom, but just one or the other. On the surface, endurance consumption looks pretty brutal, though I didn't check anything carefully.
Mind you, I'm not saying start over with another combination. Katana/Dark Armor has amazing potential. Let me point you to a thread where ClawsandEffect works out his soft-capped Broad Sword/Dark Armor build. Some of the fine details could be different for Katana, as it would have different required recharge in the attacks for the optimal attack chain, but the broad swathes are the same. This should give you an idea what the potential is, and this is on an inexpensive build. Make sure you scroll down to the second build. On the surface, it looks like about the same price range as you're considering.

Thanks for the plug Werner. It makes me smile that a build I put together impressed one of the guys who inspired me enough for him to recommend it to others.
My build does NOT have a gapless attack chain, it suits me fine though, so I wasn't worried about it. If that is a requirement for you, you will need to tweak it some. Also, my build is just barely endurance sustainable, if you have to hit Dark Regen too many times in a long fight you'll be in trouble.
It has sufficient DPS to solo an AV, as long as they are not too resistant to lethal (Siege and Nightstar may not be beatable with it). It has been proven to handle the RWZ Challenge with style (meaning it was very easy and I could screw around while doing it)
It has trouble with +4/x8 missions, though it can do it if your reflexes are good and you have a streak of good luck. +2/x8 is relatively easy.
For your build, drop the Weapons pool and pick up Body. Physical Perfection is THAT good for a DA build.
I second Werner's advice to slot Divine Avalanche as an attack. Since you'll be using it a LOT, wouldn't you like it to do some damage while you're at it? With just the base defense boost it gives you 30% when double stacked, which you will often do by accident. That means you only need 15% melee defense to softcap (mine is 22%), letting you focus on ranged and AoE defense.
My build isn't the absolute best out there, but it achieves softcap, is relatively endurance friendly, and most importantly, inexpensive. There are some pricey items in it, but I got them as drops over a long period of time, so it was dirt cheap for me to put together. (I still need the Zephyr KB protections and the Miracle +Recovery)
BS/DA and Kat/DA have amazing potential if you build them right. You have the right general idea, but you're making some goofs in your slotting that you need to correct to bring that potential out. I'm not saying you need to build it exactly like I did, but pay attention to what I slotted, where I slotted it, and why I slotted it there. If you do that you will have the knowledge you need to put together your own awesome build.

FYI, if I hadn't thought I goofed on that build, I wouldn't have posted it.
Thanks for the info. I'll be taking a look at the other thread. I had considered body mastery, but was unsure if it would be very beneficial. Thanks for the info!
Ok, I've looked it over, and I must say it's impressive. However, I would really like to pick up Flashing Steel (and possibly take Gambler's instead of Sting of the Wasp, depending on Werner's reasoning in that move). Would it be heresy to ditch Build Up entirely? Clawsandeffect, in your thread you state that you hardly use it, but would the same be true for Katana?
I would Ditch Cloak of Darkness, but upon reading more about it in Mid's, I feel that leaving it out of my build previously was a foolish thing to do. It seems to be quite a useful power.

Ok, using Clawsandeffect's build as a guide, I came up with this. It's nearly Identical to his build, but I included Physical perfection and dropped Buildup. Endurance consumption still looks massive, but the recovery is good and may counteract it a bit. Tell me what you think!

Proud Leader and founder of The Gangbusters Super Group and The Madhouse Villain Group: Ask me about becoming a member!
Well, by dropping Build Up you're falling just short of softcap. If that's not a problem, then go ahead and leave it. I mostly use it as a set mule, but it comes in handy before using AoEs. I said that I hardly use it, if you note, I took some criticism for that statement.
(I can't open your build, for some reason Mid's flatly refuses to update past I13)
In your build, try turning Tough off, I don't run it and it could be throwing your end consumption out of whack. It's not even in my tray, it's a set mule for a Steadfast, and a stepping stone to get to Weave, nothing more.
That build should do just fine, you're close enough to softcap that the survivability will go through the roof. You could even replace that Red Fortune in Combat Jumping with a LotG Recharge if you want. It will barely drop your defense and add a little bit of recharge.
Gambler's Cut over SotW because GC has a MUCH shorter animation, allowing it to fit in attack chains better. Since you're not running a high recharge build here, or using an Achille's Heel proc, it may not matter so much.
Good luck with the build, glad I could help some.
(Note: My live build does have Physical Perfection, it didn't exist yet when I put that together, I dropped the rez for it)

I do not have tough running, as it is muling the Steadfast IO.
As for the rest, I'm glad it will (apparently) Work out. Having a goal in mind for this old Scrap will hopefully get me to play him for a change

I agree with Gambler's Cut in general over Sting of the Wasp, but I'll want to take a closer look at the attack string potential we have available.

This build was the best I could come up with. I'm not sure how it would perform in-game.

Knowing that there are those out there who have played this combo effectively, what, if anything, am I doing wrong with this build? Would there be a better build to use? Would I be better off deleting this toon (Now a lvl 32) and moving as fast away from Katana/DA as possible? Any feedback is appreciated.
