Taking CJ doesn't mean you have to give up fly. What I did was changed out the last 2 powers for Weave and Hover (I didn't realize you took Air Sup instead of Hover). You can change Hover for CJ which may offer more mobility.

Anyway with this you're softcapped at all positions.

Again, not much to change but there's a huge difference playing an /SD with 40% defense to all positions than playing an /SD with 45%.

  2. OnewhoBinds, play however you want. If you're not going for +defense then I wouldn't worry about hover however hasten is more of a must have.

I think this is turning into a personal rant though so just play how you want to play and you have other people's builds to base things on.

I'm shelving this thread under "More trouble than it's worth" too.

    Good luck.

Multistrikes, however they give half the bonuse to Melee defense that Oblits do. But they're cheap.

Or you can go for some Scirocco's.
  4. Gag Inducer is inappropriate! These ******* genericed my toon named Harry Balls. Let me create a toon named Gag Inducer and see how long that one lasts.

in a pro pri ate! Inapropriate!
  5. Not a bad first attempt.

To change the Phalanx fighting to 0, go to Options, Advanced, Database Editor, Main Database Editor. Then click into each /SD (Brute, Tanker, Scrapper) and change Phalanx Fighting. Once that's done you can change the Phalanx Fighting value from 1 to 0.

    So a few quick comments:

    - 45% is the softcap. This means that everything over that is butter. Their chance tohit doesn't change. 45% is the same as 95%. Anything over 45% allows some headroom in case you're defense debuffed. You only need this for the positional defenses (Melee, Ranged, AOE). Positional defenses trump typed defenses (S/L/F/C/E/N/P)
    - Take Weave and CJ. These add to defense. Right now you're sitting at 37% to all positions. Just taking these 2 powers and slotting weave up brings you to 43%
    - If you take CJ, Weave and put Oblits in Dragon's Tail and 3 BoZ's in Combat Jumping you'll be at the softcap for all positions.

Now these are just quick suggestions, there are builds a plenty here in the scrapper forum.

    Enjoy.
  6. Listen to what these people say OnewhoBinds!

And if you want to see an expensive build, look at Santorican's build. I almost fell over.

I looked at your build... and I'm glad it works for you. I cringed (So expensive! And why bother putting Heals into Instant Healing?).
Buy the uniques with merits. 200 for a Regen tissue unique and 240 or 250 for a Numi unique.

And this was the cheap option. Like I mentioned I tried building for +def and that's so super expensive it's ridiculous.

I put the heals in Fast Healing because it adds to the regen. Since I had 2 procs in there I wanted the heal at 100%.

Removing them drops the hp/s regeneration by 9hp.

I don't "need" the 6th slot but I at least need the 5.

And I'm a regen noob. If I could afford it I would've gone with the 35% melee defense build to add to my survivability but it's just not worth it for me right now. I have another 2 toons I want to spec out a bit.

Maybe when i16 comes out and if the markest doesn't go bust I'll save up some more duckets and redo this.

EDIT: I just reread this and saw that you asked about the heals in instant healing. It adds to the regen. With IH running I regen 171hp/s. If I take out the heals I only regen 151hp/s. When you work with Mids keep Advanced Totals open. It helps to see the effect on totals when you move stuff around.

You're missing the numi +recovery +regen unique and the regen tissue +regen unique.

The only other suggestion is to slot more sets of 3 Numis for the +HP and +regen bonusses.

I'm happy with the build I posted. He'll never be the lead scrapper but he can take alpha like a sonofagun.

As long as the team comes in behind you within 15 seconds it doesn't matter how much defense you have. You're untouchable when MoG is running.

Also resilience is a skippable power so you could take hasten.

My original build was going to have 35% melee defense but with those IOs being so expensive I decided to go with the much cheaper C'Imps, Scir's and Posi's. I'll save the uber +def IOs for another /SD build.

806% +regen and perm Dull Pain with hasten up.

  11. My fire/regen Harry Balls has been genericed. A while back the same thing happened to my Ill/Rad Enormous Genitals and I changed his name to Neutered.

Now while I don't need a name idea (I've decided on Spayed), I'd like to propose we petition the teabag emote.

If everyone petitions this we have a chance for change!

If you don't know what teabagging is, look it up.

If we're successful with this, I suggest we move onto petitioning snowballs.

We need change and it starts right here!

    Ice/Kin?

Here's my softcapped ranged defense build. The only powers I don't take is Bitter Freeze Ray, Repel and Siphon Power.

One thing I'll probably change out eventually is fly for superspeed (keeping hover):

  13. I tried softcapping a /fire and /regen, I was only able to get to 35 to 38% melee. It's not good enough. That last 5-10% makes a huge difference.

I've kept my spines/fire with 38% melee defense for now. I've modified my /regen to a much cheaper +rechg and +acc build with 806% +regen without accolades. With today's market prices the **** is just too darn expensive.

    Ma/wp

Build for +HP and +Regen first. +Recharge next.

The only power that's skippable from /WP is the rez.

Don't worry about the team/solo stuff, one build for most scrappers works for both teams and solo play.

I think somewhere in the first page of this forum someone posted another scrapper /WP build. Check that out. I would say 3 to 400 +HP is acheivable and squeeze out every bit of +regen you can.

    Kick vs. Boxing?

I always choose kick for the FF +rech proc. I figure why not.
  19. elec/sd should be fun once it's made available to scrappers. I love it on my brute.
  20. They're all good for different reasons. Do you want to wield a sword? You want to be a martial artist? It should start with what you find appealing.

I have 3 pimped out scrappers and at any point in time I find them enjoyable solo or on a team:

spines/fire - he's great for tearing things up
ma/inv - very solid and tough as nails. Better than most tanks
dm/sd - lots of fun with end recovery and heal built in. Extremely survivable

I do have the following brutes that are lots of fun soloing too and now with the latest powerset proliferation up and coming as well as the possible /ela changes you may want to consider the following scrappers in i16:

    dm/ela
    elec/sd

Good luck, my feeling is you're going to get a lot of different responses here.

EDIT: And while I'm not personally a fan of broadsword's slow look and feel it does have a nice crunch to it. Try one of each to lvl 10 or so and if one of them makes you giggle like an idiot, stick with it.

I like it. My ranged defense is way too low but it's not bad. This is more of a novelty toon, I already have 2 other scrappers that do much better in overwhelming situations but when I want a change of pace I bring out this guy just to tear things up and to test my healing flames reflexes.

  22. People including myself have had luck getting purple drops from the wall in Cimerora. It's not 100% guaranteed but if you're bored and you want to kill stuff, farm the wall. You'll get other recipe drops too and worst case you make a few mill after a copule of hours from other drops without getting any purples. Lts, bosses, minions. Usually I'm just beating on the minions and Lts because there aren't usually a lot of bosses on the wall.

And I've heard that BS does crazy damage so it's really personal preference as to what you want to do first. There are definitely avid supporters for both.
  23. Why are you against Weave? Just drop SJ and take that instead. I'd do that before considering Maneuvers or Hover.

2 slot your travel powers with BoZs (3 slot if you want AOE defense), 6 slot attacks with ToD, Oblit, Mako, Thunderstrike, 5 Reactive Armor in Tough, etc for the positional defenses, put it all in Mids and adjust accordingly to get your positional defenses to around 45%. Usually I just target ranged and melee. AOE is personal preference.

I've never played or built out an SR but it should be pretty straightforward.

I'm sure others will drop in and post their softcapped builds.

    Good luck.

EDIT: OOOOOH and yes the Steadfast Protection Res/Def +3% is a must.
  24. DM/SD first. It has the heal and end recovery power built-in.

I have the following pimped out /SD toons:

    DM/SD scrapper
    ELEC/SD brute
    SS/SD brute

The scrapper is pretty survivable thanks to the heal and end recovery powers when and if I need to use them.

As for getting money try playing the market. Or build up some merits, buy a miracle and resell it. Do this a few times on your way up to 50. Farm RV and the Cimerora wall and see if you can get a purple.
  25. I have about 37% melee defense if I remember correctly and he still gets beaten down like a ***** from time to time but it is fun. I went for +melee defense and +end recovery.

One thing I did with mine is I took caltrops (I dropped impale).

I use that before using burn.

It's nice, very nice and both caltrops and burn recharge pretty quickly.
