  4. I'm going to check this again, but I'm pretty sure I was unable to place Tar Patch, or Lifegiving Spores while _Flying_ (not Rocket Board). Later, I had to land, to summon Vet Buff Pet and my frustration boiled over.

    Edit:
Okay, you're right, looks like Tar Patch and Freezing Rain and Static Field, as well as Pets from Plants can all be summoned/placed while Flying. OTOH Lifegiving Spores cannot. And, Vet Buff Pets, the same.

Lifegiving Spores really Should be flagged to work while flying, particularly as it is designed to be dropped, cancelled, and dropped again. Vet Pets can be summoned during a buffing session after entering the zone, so one might land to do that. However, because Vet Pets are constantly being killed, they need to be re-summoned on the fly... and you can't summon them on the _Fly_.

So, I may have over-reacted, slightly, but there's still a 'problem'. I'll go check the Bug Reports thread and see if anyone has mentioned the issue with LgS.

And yet, you have not contributed anything useful to this thread. So far, it's just been blather and social politics. I'm finding that I resent that.

  6. Summon Pets, Place Rains, Place Buff/Debuff Patches, Toss Caltrops, and I'm sure there's more, but all of these powers are locked out, when Hovering or Flying.

These already have a maximum range and cannot be placed in midair - which makes sense. However, even if I'm hovering at minimum height, I'm locked out - That makes no sense at all.

Isn't it about time we got these powers updated?

  7. Welcome Back, LordXenite! I remember you from wayback, too. Things are all different, but the trolls are the same - they just have different names.

In this instance, I happen to be trying to refine a good SO build for a Tri-form Peacebringer, while allowing for inherent Fitness and all of the tweaks that the Devs have made to our powers.

  8. Well, we're not really talking about precious metals, economics, or politics here, we're talking about Peacebringers. In this instance, since you seem determined to derail the thread, we're talking about designing an effective basic build, that everyone could play. The build could then be used as a standard, which might be easily tweaked by players and builders to create their personalized idea of perfection.

The 'gold standard', in this case, is a metaphor for reliable basic function. It certainly won't save us all from poverty. So, I was inviting you to discuss Peacebringers, not gold.

But I'm pretty sure you knew that.

    Be Well!
    Fireheart
  9. Maybe so, maybe no. You'd have to read Plasma's original guides and decide for yourself. If you think this 'standard' is flawed, join the discussion and help us refine it.

Perhaps it should be a 'beer standard' instead? In which case, we'd be arguing about which is the best beer.

Okay, so, knowing that, perhaps you should update your guides with new 'Gold-standard' SO and IO and IO Set builds? Borrow stuff from Memphis Bill and Smiling Joe and Alien One and Dechs Kaison and give the new kids something useful to read?

As for this build... I think it might be getting near to complete. I seem to have created an 'inhuman' build, though.

  12. It's been a few months and I'm left with my questions unanswered, BUT my character has finally reached 50. Time for a 'final' rebuild.

    Quote:
    Hero ID: 'Kitten Dreams'

"Hi, my name is Kitty and they say I’m a ‘Dreamer’.
"All I know is that I can make people fall asleep and have really bad dreams, and sometimes bad things happen to them in those dreams. "Sometimes, I can even make my dreams ‘manifest’ and cause real things to happen. Sometimes they are nice dreams, sometimes they are not.
"So, now I’m a hero and I go around putting bad guys to sleep and giving them nightmares, and then they wake up in the Zig - right?"

Deep background - Somewhere in Paragon City, there is a hospital and in that hospital is a sad, quiet ward, where sad, quiet children lie, each one in a coma. Once, Lucy Dreamtime spent a period there, but she woke up, eventually, and moved on.
However, while she was there, she created and manifested a 'Dream Warrior' to guard her sleep. She didn't want to create anything Scary, so she came up with Kitty. Kitty's existence might have been ephemeral, but Lucy inadvertently harnessed the sleeping dream-power of All of the children on the ward. Now, Kitty is entirely autonomous - except that she has no real 'past', before she became a hero and she still 'works out the issues' of the dreaming children who lend her power.
Amazingly, since Kitty manifested, More of the children eventually wake up and go home, but Kitty's power and her belief in herself continues to grow.

Kitty speaks simply and quietly, with all of the joy and secret wisdom of a child. She knows a great deal - perhaps as much as all of the sleeping minds in Paragon City, but it does not color her simplicity. She 'knows' evil and fights it every day, but she does not fear it.
So, my basic playstyle is 'Ranged-chaos, they never saw what hit them' when I'm solo. I fly about in my cloud of dreams and the bad people fall down and hurt themselves. On a team, I leverage more debuffs and AoEs, making the enemy blind, stupid, slow, falling down and randomly killing each other, all while being savaged by horrid, invisible forces. Meanwhile, a little girl's voice is whispering in their ears, saying, "Don't be a Bad Person!"

In the interests of getting a lot of varied feedback, I've stripped my current build to the bare minimums, leaving the Store-purchased and ATO sets in place, so you know what's locked down (I do have the 6th T-strikes in the sets if they're needed). The ATO could be placed in other powers, T-Dom just seemed like a smart place. I'm willing to consider changes to my power-picks, but if you do make changes Please Explain Why! - so I can Learn from it.

Also, I've not chosen my APP/PPP - Your feedback about what would be most useful is solicited. If it's Thematic for a Dream Warrior/Guardian, even better - tell me why/how.

Wow, DeeDee, I wonder why it takes so long? Here, in speed-obsessed California, you make the appointment for a day when you're just gonna be unpacking all day anyway, the tech comes out, and an hour later you've already gotten your email, checked in with your IM-friends, posted a witty comment on your favorite thread, and are considering whether you should play CoH or wait until after dinner.

I just moved, myself, and it's no fun, but if you hang in there and keep pushing, eventually you have a nice new place to live. Now I just have to figure out where to put all of my Stuff!

If that's the case, then it seems to me that, once you reach 22, the second Accuracy could be replaced with more EndRdx, with negligible accuracy loss. Or am I missing something? Thanks again.
That number is the base, against an even-level minion. It also assumes that you are not debuffed.

Many of us play at higher levels of difficulty and fight Lieutenants and Bosses, even Arch Villains and Giant Monsters. To have a reasonable chance of hitting these enemies, we need more Accuracy. The reasoning is that, if you can't hit them, all of your power's awesomeness is... pointless. For that matter, I would switch Damage for Accuracy in the two nukes, as well, in Kosmos' build - like I did in mine.

Kosmos skipped EndRed in Seekers and Dawn Strike, because, even with heavy recharge slotting, they will not be available so often that you risk draining your blue-bar.

The differences between Kosmos' build and mine also highlights another factor that is especially true with Peacebringers and Kheldians in general - there are a dozen 'right' ways to build a character.

    You... are... Absolutely... Right!

If you want to do more damage, hit them Again. Recharge helps with that.

I find it more useful to have a sustainable, nigh-continuous damage-stream, than to do more damage when I hit. +Dam goes in the 5th slot.

That's also true. My intention is not to tell the OP how to build their character (_I_ would use a couple of Pools) and the remaining powers are all... optional. I was simply trying to indicate my views about relative importance of powers in the build.

  20. Okay, but aren't we getting 'un-crashed' in I-24?

  21. Peacebringers are different.

Peacebringers are self-contained, they do not need enemy, dead or alive, to be powerful.

Peacebringers are consistent, every time you activate a particular power, the same thing happens. If you activate a power in a vacuum, the same thing happens.

This means that they play more like other ATs. Human-form is a Blapper-plus, with shields and self-heals. Nova is pure Blaster and Dwarf is pocket Tank (not unlike with a Warshade). You get Build-Up and a Dull Pain clone, and your 'super armor' power, Lightform can be perma'd and stacked with Dwarf resistance to make you even tougher.

I'd say, in general, your strategy and tactics are going to be a bit simpler, more straightforward, as a Peacebringer, than as a Warshade, simply because you don't have to leverage the enemy or collect bodies.

I like it. Your experience may differ.

  22. Obliteration... Hmm. Gods, I wonder where I can steal a 6th slot from...

    Thanks everyone!

  23. One issue with Spiring Attack - How do I slot it? It's a Pet... with base accuracy '1'... (according to City of Data)... Mids shows no accuracy or damage to enhance... If I ignore that and slot it like a normal attack, does the 'Pet' benefit? Does the 'Pet' benefit from my global Accuracy buffs? It does accept a full range of regular Enhancements... Just confusing.

  24. Staff Fighting is for sale on the market.

Also, there is a new Psychoti story on the Rude Tells thread.

  25. Okay, checked the numbers and Leadership: Maneuvers is giving me the last 5% Def to cap everything, so I probably want to keep it. Leadership: Tactics is a 50% Perception buff, which I really do like, along with 14% To-Hit - but I can live without it.

Done that way, and pulling extra slots from Build-Up, I can 6-slot Tactical Training: Leadership for a bit more +Defense and pick up Spring Attack...
