  1. I think the griping about the set bonusses of pet damage sets should be removed now that there are recharge intensive pet sets which both grant (a very high) global +recharge bonus.

I will second the motion about being scared [censored] of potential changes (read: arbitrary nerfs) that are continually being rumoured.

    Delete Please

Whoops! Wrong section! not sure how this ended up here, but OK... deleting.
  4. MY heavens! That certainly is complete. It must have taken you qutie a while to organize alll this and put it to paper, Sandolphan, and I, for one, am much obliged.
  5. WEll, thats kindof neet. I don't read the comic (its terrrible), but from what I read here, it does make me look forward to issue 10 a bit. After-all, they've been talking aobut doing something interesting with the Crash Site ever since it was revealed that Faultline was getting a face-lift. If they've already designed Vanguard villain-mobs, then that would seem to confirm that.

Oh, and perosnally, I think we ahv eoru fill of paranoid, well-armed, "heroes are dangerous nuissances", "we believe we're serving the greater good but actually we're just [censored]" storyline from the Matla Group. And they do it very -well- too, if you're into that. still, since it looks like teh might introduce vanguard as a simialr group, I'm at least interested to find out the details. Might be fun. And I do agree that slogans like "They are still among us", "Earth for humans!", and, my very fascist favorite: "report all suspeicious activity to us!" didn't really seem all that heroic when I first saw them on the walls around Atlas Park.

Oh, and no, Vanguard's purpose is nto to control Ritki technology. At leat not that I;m aware. In fact, as far as I know, in the United States (and therefor, Paragon), Seraph, and possibly other government regulated groups answering to the FBSA are responsible for researching it. And it is, in fact, responsible for many of the "magical technology" (to coin a phrase) that exist in Paragon City, such as, most notably, the medical teleporters and reclimators. They're purpose is to kepe tabs on teh Ritki Threat, and coordinate efforts against the Ritki throughout the world. Obviously, since they are credited with helpign win the RItki War due to their logistical and strategic efforts, they WERE good guys at one point, and (pure speculation) one imaignes that the story of how they fell from this lofty path ot secretly doing whatever-it-is they may possibly turn out to be doing that would put them at odds with heroes and the PPD, will be something that gets revealed in whatever content ultimatly springs up around this (not to beat a dead horse, but rather in the same way that you gradually learn who and waht the mysterious Malta group si all about by working wiht Indigo).

    I hate you Devs

You know, I hate to be a killjoy, and I'm really glad that it went relaly well for msot people, but I think I'm with Captain Photon on this one. If I were trying to have a conversation or somethign, and then a whole bunch of archvillains magically apeared out fo no-where and ganked me "for fun" I wouldn't be entertained: I'd be veyr, very irritated. Frnakly I've never been terribly impressed by the "some meet a signature NPC" sort fo thigns in general.

Still, we seem to be in the minority, which is probably why I don't ussually bother to attned dev-sponsored events anyway, so as long as most of the people there had fun, I supose the objective was achieved.

    280. Thermonuclear hand grenades do not exist in any genre except Paranoia.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, Babylon 5 features centauri Karkonite grenades, which are essentially hand-held nuclear bombs, so thats at leat one more setting right there.

    Behold my banal nit-picking fury!

    Oh, and of course,

    1101.
I will not condescend to greater gods for fun, no matter how cool I am (or think I am).

    1102.
Hitting on the king/merchant/deity's spouse is not an effective form of diplomacy.

    1103.
... especially if you flub your roll.

    1104.
I will stop purposefully making sure all of my characters have no significant emotional attachments what-so-for fear of having them levied agains me by the GM.

    1105.
Just because I have a desturbingly thorough undersanding of such obscure topics as military science, 17th century european occult theory, and the economic history of the Byzantine Empire does not meen that everyone else at the gamign table wants to hear about it.

    1106.
I will not ever again roll dice to determine my characters actions while they are intoxicated. No level of pretend drunkeness is an excuse for giving the fantasy gaming world another slutty bi-sexual sorceress, even if its just the one time.
  8. ((Well, I rahter ifgured they all had to die tragically somehow or other - its that sort of story, . Its a really spectacular story too, though, Heroid. I don't think I've ever been more impressed with a piece of fan fiction before. Frankly I'm a little jealous ;D.))
  9. I'm not 100% sure what the connection with CoH is, but who cares about that. This is quite good, heroid! Like most of the others who've posted I am extremelly anxious to see read the 'finished product', as it were.

I am inclined to agreew ith your assesment James. Bases just dn't give me capacbilities I didn;t already have. If they get this whole CoP thing going and it's now important to ahve a functional base in order to ahve Items of Power (which are actually uesful, unlike tekleporter and resurection circles and such) then that will be a big step. If they get raids working then (for groups taht care about PvP) that will be quite helpful also.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You don't think teleporters are important? O.o

    [/ QUOTE ]

No. I think they're conveniant. VERY conveniant. I certainly am glad to ahve them. But I played this game for almsot six months before I ever even saw a teleport pad and I got along just fine. They make my life slightly easier, but they don't make my character any better or allow me to do anything I wouldn't otherwise (move from point A to point B). If the conveniance is worth it by itself for you then fair enough. I supose it is to me too to the extent that if my SG has the prestige lying aorudn to buy them, then why NOT make my life easier. But the prospect of taking 2 minutes less to get from one side of Paragon to teh other is simply not enough to motivate me, personally, to devote vast quantities of my time and energy to affording them.

That's the problem. its not that nothign in bases is useful. Its that its all sort of blah. Its nice to ahve, but if you don't have it, do you really care? Are you reall violently motivated to earn it so you can be cool like the other SG down the street? Probably not in the same way that an actual mateiral advantage to your charater and thoe of your group-mates would motivate you.

  12. ((Indeed))

((We were suposed to ahve defeated the whole army?! Leet! I coudl ahve sworns oemwone psoted about reinforcements though; that's why I reference dit in my own post. But maybe that was at the Grandville battle.))

*I am a guardian of the Mu, you insolent roughian, MU'Rahu thoughtcasts back, and I shall refer to yo-... Mu'Rahu, is in mid mental tirade, when suddenly, the group emerges down the stairs of into the fortified sub-levels of the Paragon City Hall. At that sight, however - the sight of the better part of the Freedom Phalanx injured, and more heroes then she has evern seen before in one spot all looking as if... well, as if they'd been through a war - a singular thought forces all other consdierations from her mind. We just... saved... the city. I just helped _save_ Paragon City. Faced with the inescapable reality of this realization, she does the only thing she can do (and probably the least appropriate thing anyone could do), and bursts into fits of laughter.

Eventually, of course, her brain starts functioning normally again, filled with such thoughts as 'that two-bit excuse for a sorcerer _threatened_ me', 'I wonder if I could slip away for a minute and investigate the MAGI vaults unnoticed', and 'I rather hope Grandville is fairing no worse then we are', but she is still far too entertained by the irony of it all to be overly concerned about any of those, so instead, she simply floats in a corner smiling to herself, in spite fo the many odd looks tossed her way (and somehow, even in a good mood, her body language manages to make it clear that all others are beneath contempt), and waits silently to see what Paragon's vaunted heroes will do next.
  13. Rahu, floating herself, and well past any thought of concealing her origins, smiles at Blade and quips, "No doubt you are correct, hero, but then, neither am I, ussually. As the good Doctor there would say, the enemy of my enemy, is at the very least an ally of temporary conveniance. The Ritki cannot conquer the world, if these new aliens should beet them too it."

"Oh, and by the way little wizard," she turns to Dr. Strangeblood, "your new clothes are most becoming."

Elsewhere across teh city, the violence was ongoing, but, having no further commentary to give, Mu'Rahu floated in silence, thinking. Every villain in the Rogue isles, and qutie a few other places besides, must certainly have dreamed, at one point, of walking proudly through the gates of the Paragon City Hall. Probably none of them had ever imagined it happening quite like this.
  14. ((Sorry for the dalay - still with you though))

While Carlos, Coldfire, and teh rest engaged the alien armies, Mu'Rahu, hovering the in the air above, remained pre-occupied wiht the seemingly invulnerable blue alien creature. So long as ti remained in play, no amoung of carnae would suffice to turn the tide - it could always restore it's fallen comrades.

Thinking quickly, the scarlet-clad sorceress, reaches out her hands to contact the verge of it's energy shield, and concentrates. The msytic burst of energy that leapt from her ahnds would ahve caused feedback enough to render most heroes helpless, and kill a normal man in his tracks. The aliens shields flickered once... barely.

But once, in this case, was more thene nough! The mometary disruption had allowed her slip through the barrier. The creature must have realised it's danger, as it lashed out at her, with a powerful blast of concussive force, but to it's horror, it could only knock her back as far as teh _inside_ of it's shields... still well within the reach of her still outstretched hand. For a moment, the two lock eyes, and then, a terrible energy lights betwean Mu'Rahu's outstreched fingers, as she reaches forth to lay her hands upon it's breast.

For a brief moment, all sight of the two compatants is lost amongst an incrdible disrchage of red lightnings, and then, when it fades, rahu floats trumphant (if somewhat winded), above the creatures barely-recognizable ashen corpse.

    "There now, that wasn't so..."

Looking up, the Mu Mystic cannot help but notice the the small legion of enemy reinforcements makingtheir way to the fighting.

    Mu'Rahu simply sighs, "...Hard"

Without missing a beat, she set herslef hard at work helping hte others to dipose of the remaining armies before still more arrived to plague them.
  15. Mu'Rahu smiles an almsot preditory smile and bows gracefully, in mid-air, in Carlos' direction. She then turns her attention to the newcomer.

"Your aid is most welcome, fellow mystic... but if you please, I much prefer Rahu." Little witch indeed! I should teach this one a lesson in humility whent his is over!

"I believe our friend there has the right idea. The small blue ones seem to be instrumental to their efforts."

So saying, the Mu sorceress lifts into the air and glides towards teh small alien creacture, unlaeashings a furious blast of electrical energy that sends a shudder through it's shields.
  16. ((We've seen them felled by considerably less in the past.))
  17. ((Waiting one more day for Knuckles before moving on and ignoring him. Unless, of course, anyone else objects.))
  18. It'd be too bad if ti did; it's kinda neet, if campy, concept. plus I rarely get an excuse to play this charcter, since there's no way for her to exist in-game (Stuped Devs, stupid lack of lightning blast for corrupters).
  19. ((Just to let you folks know: starting tomorrow I will be out of town until the end of the weakend.))
  20. ((That is why I never bring more then 1 character to a RP))

Mu'Rahu looked down at the semi-conscious warrior and actually smiled. "I must commend you on your spirit, warrior, if nothing else."

To Carlos, she nodded sagely. "Prepare an area. I willl... get their attention."

So saying, the red-robed sorceress vanished from visible sight. A few moments passed, as the mystic made her way through ranks of white-armoured warrior monsters t find the greatest concentration.

Just as her impromptu companions were wondering if she ahd abandoned them, a massive crimson explosion of electrical energy lit the sky a few hundred meters away, anihilating several-dozen of the invaders at a single blow, and leaving a lone red-robed figure in their midst.

If the other aliens were surprised, however, they certainly didn't slow to ponder. In fact, many times the number she ahd jsut felled turned towards Mu'Rahu and charged. Precisly as planned.

Quaffing a potion to rejuvenate hr from the tremendous exertion, Mu'rahu flew, with as much speed as her consdierable power could manage, back towards the others, and, she could only hope, to the carefully laid an hihghly destructive ordinances which wich Carlos had prepared, with a small army of aliens in close persuit. Well, I supose this really has to work.
