((Okay, so this idea burst into my mind while looking for an RP to post in. This is about Villains and Heroes combining forces and taking on an Ultimate evil. This evil will reveal itself soon, so lets get this started and watch it evolve. I figure after we get a few posts in, I'll reveal the enemy and it can really start off.))

Coldfire stood at the top of the Helios Towers looking out into the waters surrounding Talos Island. An ominous feeling crept up on him as the skies darkened a bit. Looking out at the daytime sky, Coldfire watched as the clouds shifted and the wind picked up. Looking into the wind expecting to see something to the extent of a storm summoning hero, he saw nothing.

A scowl replaced his nuetral look as he looked back out to the deep blue ocean. Coldfire then saw a glint in the corner of his eye, looking up at the sky quickly, he saw something dart across the sky. Lighting his fists with fire he observed for a moment as the light flew off toward Dark Astoria.

Coldfire put out the flames and looked down at the civilians as the moved about their daily lives. With one step, he began falling to the ground. As he saw the pavement moving closer, Coldfire caught the air and hovered slightly above the ground, dropping and landing with a light thud.

"I don't have time for this..." Coldfire said as he looked at his watch and looked toward the gates that led to the dead part of the city.

((Just jump in and put your characters into play, I'll reveal all soon. And try not to get too ahead of yourself, the only clue right now is a glint, you can allow your heroes to see it, but don't push it ))

((Ooo, this seems like fun! And the great thing aobut forum-only RPs is that they tend to fit my hectic schedule. Since none of my current mains are really of the necesary caliber to contend with big freaky cosmic threats, I will run with a a character that has been a concept of mine for months, but does not actually exist on account of there are no ranged electrical sets for villains. The powers she displays in this RP will be extrapolated from the abilities found in teh eelctric blast, electric manipulation, and mu masteyr sets, and the abilities dispalayed by the actual Mu Guardian mob type in perticular.))

The woman known as Mu'Rahu was not easilly surprised. She certainly had not expected to be today. Like dozens of other Mu Guardians, she was scrying on various activities on teh mainland. Her spying was at the behest of her superiors fo course: she herself privtly thought such endeavors to be a waste of time. Crucial areas were warded, and nothing ever turned up in the non-crucial parts of Paragon city that was remotly interesting.

Not until now. Passing her second sight over Astoria, she had been fully prepared to see nothing but the ussual emptiness and undead, and to move on to more populated areas. Instead, she had cought a glimpse (just a glimpse), of... something. She did not know what, for the simple reason that even teh tail end of it had beeen so brillaint it would surely have struck her blind to have been there in the flesh.

Indeed, teh force of it had severed the connection, and several of the apprentices assigne dto aid her in her scrying were now whimpering in pain from the experiance. She made a mental note to punish them for their lack of fortitude. ONe of them (she did not know, or care to know his name) even had the audacity to speak to her.

"Mistress... what was that."

"Do not concern yourself with that", she replied, "it is none of your affair. But since you are so eager to help, go and find the Ice Mistral, or whichever of her alckie is overseeing the divinations this day, and tell her that her master may be in luck: these divinations of ours may have yielded something interesting after-all. And on the way back, retrieve the stone of Lisharac from my personal chambers. the wards will allow you to pass."

The young acolyte looked puzzled, "But... mistress... the Stone is a focu for translocational rituals. Surely you cannot mean to... it is forbidden save on explicit orders."

For the first time, Rahu cast her gaze up from the scrying pool and her reticent aid. The acolyte was young, probably not yet 18, and obviously nervous, as well he might be. he was like msot acolytes, she suposed: conscripted when their bloodlines became known,a nd now trying to make the best of what they considered a bad situation. Keep your head down and don't get kiled was the order of the day. Pitiful. Even more so that this was what the blood of Mu had come to. But no matter.

Her gaze ahrdened, and although Mu'Rahu did not raise her voice (she never did), somthing in it was unmistakably dangerous. "are you questioning my instructions, apprentice?"

He swallowed, "Umm, no mistress, it is only that, not even Guardians such as yourself are permitted to travel to the mainland without permission. Umm, I mean..."

He trailed off under her level gaze. "You are correct, Apprentice, but that too is no concern of yours. NO do as I have bid you, or I shall be forced to reprimand you for your excessive curiosity."

The man nearly ran from the room (an apprentice only, he had not yet learned the trick of levitation that was required of fullly initiated mystics as a matter of discpline). Before he had even vaniheed around the next corner, Mu'Rahu had already turned her attention back to the scrying pool, summonign to mind teh image of Dark Astoria. Whatever this thing was, it had the potential to be valuable. She had to know more. And soon, she would.

'...of Ultimate Destiny. / Good guys, bad guys, and explosions / as far as the eye can see /..."

((sorry, had to. ANYWAY, here's the real post [cause bored at work = time!]))

------------------------------------------------------------------

The man known to the world as Professor Todesfall was taking a moment to relax. The dome gave a stunning view of the deep Antarctic sea…somehow the view always settled something in him, and it never disappointed. He had barely started his reverie, however, when he was interrupted by a beeping on his wrist comm. Nu’s chirping voice interrupted the silence, “Boss, you’d…you’d better get to the control room.”

Sighing, Todesfall stepped to the wall, which opened ahead of him. Metallic boots clanking as he moved briskly to the primary seat, Todesfall’s commanding voice rang out, “Report.”

His robots whirred, chatting over their internal comms, and had apparently “elected” Nu to be the speaker. “Boss…you wanted a report whenever the satellite surveillance of Paragon City provided an…extraordinary result. Well…you should see the playback.”

The little combat drone tapped a panel on the walls laden with computer equipment, and a visual screen appeared on the blank portion of wall. The satellite overhead view zoomed in, and then became a playback of real time. Todesfall watched as…something…sped through the Talos region, heading toward the hazard gates to Dark Astoria. It winked off the sensors only to be picked back up irregularly, as if monitoring it caused bursts of interference in the signal. Todesfall’s voice became flat, “When was this? Where did the signal pickup?”

Nu’s chirp picked up, “There were strange bursts of static from way out in the islands, which caused the protocols to auto-focus to the Talos region. That…thing was the result when the resolution picked up and it…well, boss, it just disappeared into Dark Astoria, and then we lost the signal.”

Todesfall’s voice became commanding again. “Prepare the submersible. We are going to make full speed to the outskirts of Paragon City as soon as we are able to depart, and make sure you load the armor of that self-righteous idiot I still have captive. Once the submersible is outfitted and the gear in place, each of you report to your deployment bays and prepare for launch.”

Kappa piped in, “Boss, is there something you should be tel…” only to be cut off by Todesfall’s icy command, “GO.”

In unison, all units replied, “Yes, boss!” and went about their duties.

((SOOOOOO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG))

"This world is ripe for the picking." a voice chimed in from the foggy shadows of Moth Cemetary.

"Yes, this should be an easy task." another, deeper voice said.

As they heard the words said, the Banished Pantheon Shaman Ak'nocca walked forth followed by a troop of the deformed undead and said, "Who are you, why do you dare invade the home of the Banished Pantheon."

The man looked into the shadows as sweat rolled down his forhead and yelled in an aggrevated voice, "ANSWER ME!"

At the booming echo of his voice the shadows shifted and a white glow came from the depths of the blackness.

"Wha-" The shaman was cut off as a huge blast of white hot energy tore through his chest and ripped apart his body.

Stepping forth was a large white, humanoid form. It wore shining armor that glared with energy. It stepped forward and put its arms forward launching a volley of energy disentigrating the undead.

"All too easy."

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coldfire watched from the distance as the glowing white form began tearing through the legions of the Banished Pantheon. First it was just one, then an entire army that would make that of the Council, Rikti, and Nemesis blush. In a few moments, the cemetary was empty, quiet.

"What are those freaks?" Coldfire said looking down as the group marched forward toward the gates of Dark Astoria. Then, in a flash one of the being appeared before him holding a long, katana like energy blade and swung it at Cold.

"[censored]!"

Mu'Rahu was still watching it all through the scrying pool. My, my. It seems the mainlanders have a bit of a situation on their hands. Rahu was captivated by teh destruction. and worried. The speed with which these things... whatever these things were... were tearing through the local monstrosities was alarming. If they leveld Paragon city (and maybe some other choice targets up and down the east coast), well, that would be just dandy. There was such a thing as too much fo a good thing though. these creatures might well prove harder to conquer, in teh long run, then even paragon City's seemingly endless supply of costumed heroes. Or they might just do what the voice seemed to think they could do and conquer the world, and that would be inconveniant. No, this situation ahd to be monitered closely. More closely, perhaps, then coudl be done from a distance.

As if on cue, she was interrupted by the sound of aproaching foot-steps and the door opening. She was fully prepared tor oudn on whomever had done it with fury to make a stone blanch, but stopped short. There were nto many people in the Rogue Isles, Mu'Rahu wouldn't dare to cross. This woman ws one of them. Ice Mistral stood in the doorway.

"Guardian Mu'Rahu, they tell me you've got something to report."

"My lady, somethign is happening in paragon. A... new arrival. I would hypohtesise extra-terrestrial in origin. It is... powerful. With yor permission, I wish to investigate. More closely."

"Your superiors agree, Guardian. This development could prove interesting. You will go to Paragon."

"I will assemble a team at once."

Ice Mistral's smile was positivly, well... chilling. "You misunderstand: you will go _alone_ to paragon City. Such a mission is far too risky to jeaperdise too many assets. When you have learned more, you may return."

Ahh. Of course. You're not a real Arachnos operative until yoru superiors have tried to remove get yuo kiled at least once or twice./ Mu'Rahu did not express this traitorous thought out-loud, of course. Instead, she nodded her assent.

"Of course mistress."

---

Several minutes, and a translocational ritual later (after checking to certain her wards of invisibility were firmly in place, of course), Mu'Rahu apeared... directly in the path of an on onrushing energy creature. I must remember to kill Adept Sallis for selecting these coordinates. Fortunatly, the invisibility held. the thing passed right by her. And it was moving with a purpose. Like severla of it's; fellows, it seemed headed towards an meta-human of some kind (one of Paragon's inreped heroes no doubt). Mu'rahu, levitating oabove the earth, was quite content to watch. From this hero she could easilly learn about the abilities of these things without having to endanger herself. Cannon fodder, even unwitting cannon-fodder, was a marvelous thing to have.

She was just settling in to watch the intrped heroes demise from some 20 feet above, when one of the creatures swarming over the rocks near-by paused, looked directly at her, screached, and charged.

"Well, curses!"

Coldfire summoned his ice sword in time and stopped the energy blade in time. Lifting up his thick motorcycle boots he slammed the steel sole into the chestplate of the beast sending it flying backward. As the protective flames began covering his body he spat to the side and looked at the beast as it stood.

"Meta-human engaged, modifying force to take down." The creature said as it's armor expanded and the beast morphed before Coldfire's eyes. The creature now resembled more of a top heavy form, it's armor mainly accumulating over it's upper body making it seem muscular. Out of it's arms were two long curved energy blades.

"Engage this!" Coldfire said rushing forward and igniting the beast with a volley of fire. As the dust cleared from the explosive attack, the beast stood almost unscathed. It's armor scuffed, but almost untouched. It was damaged though, Cold could tell that much. It was bluffing him.

"Alright tin man, let's see what you got." Cold taunted as he dropped his stance and readied his sword for an attack.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Charcold Kaiser stood looking out from the ferry as it headed toward Recluse's megacity Grandville. As he looked on he saw a light slam into the main building and cause a massive explosion.

"What the hell was that?!" Charcold said as he watched the wire webs collapse and fall from the boat. Leaping into the air, Charcold flew the rest of the way there. Arriving, he saw Arachnos forces mobilizing to fight an unseen force. Then, from the smokey rubble came energy blasts and the monsters causing them.

The spell of invisibility should have cloaked Mu'Rahu from anything but the most powerful detective abilities. Since the creature was chargin at her, she had to assume she had been right: these things were a threat.

Of course, Now was not the time for such reflection. Focussing her will, Rahu, unleashed a blast of power... to dperessingly little effect. She saw the being recoil in pain - she could hurt them at least, but it kept coming towrds her unabataed - croushed, in fact, and prepared to leap. It's strange armour had protected it from the brunt of her assault. In seconds it would bleap. It could almost certianly reach her, and its blade could almsot certainly kill her if it connected. But it's armour was made of energy. And energy was something she knew very well. She almost smirked as teh thing launched itself into the air towards her. Just as wit was about to jump, her spell struck the thign in teh chest, draining it's power into the aether. Even as it sailed through the air, it's shielding, and it's strange weaponry began to flicker. It's mighty thrust, clearly emant to drive the blade of force through her heart, accomplished nothin - the blade was already as insubstantial as empty air. As the strange white-masked creatre fell back to earth, Rahu focused again, and a blast of energy tore it's weakened armour, and itself, to peices.

The mystic wsa just svoring her vicotry, however, when she realied something. the attack had nullified her invisibility. The others could see her. And looking up, she realised that more then a few of themw ere beggining to look in ehr direction. She was far too visibile. But the only place to go was... towards the hero!

Well, isn't this special. Mu'Rahu had doffed teh usual unform of a msytic, of course (in fact, it was rathr disconcering - she couldn't remembe the last time she had been without the ritual bindings used by all Mu Mystics from the time of their induction), but she was still a strikign sight.. Standing not much over 5 feet tall, she was as slender as she was diminuiative, but her body was lent apparent volume by the flowing scarlet robe which covered her from head to toe, flaring at the wrists and hem, and left loose bout the waste. Fine features, and dark skinnned (Indian, or middle-eastern perhaps?), and with lng dark hair, she was actually fairly pretty if only she had known it. At the very least she made a rather striking sight as she hovered down out of the sky to float jsut shy of the ground, next to Coldfire as he faced down the energy being.

"It seems that you are in need of aid... err... hero."

The sub stopped a mile out from Paragon's Talos port, and Todesfall, disguised in the power armor of the hero Tin Centurion sped along the water using the suit's superspeed. Reaching the gates, he met the guards, who recognized the suit as a registered hero and let him pass.

One of the guards spoke, "Been a while, Tin-man! Something delay you?"

Allowing the suit's vocalizer to modify his voice, Todesfall spoke, "Yeah, some crazy guy name of Teach...Prof...Tod...oh, I don't even remember, one of those bot types. Knocked me out of commish for a bit, but I escaped handily!"

The guard waved him through.

------------------------------------------------------

Speeding along, Todesfall kept up the act for gate guards, and quickly arrived at Dark Astoria thanks to the speed of the Centurion's suit. Speeding toward the graveyard, he saw some armored hero with a sword of ice engaging strange energy beings...and spied a mystic of Mu, one of their female sages, doing the same. Activating the quick release, the Tin Centurion's bulky suit popped away, revealing Todesfall's more practical and slimmed down power armor. Speaking over his comm to the sub quickly, still out of sight, he informed his drones briskly,

"Rho, Lambda, Zeta, Nu, Kappa, Chi, report to my position immediately!"

As the drones launched from his submersible like six tactical missiles, he activated a transmission to the MechaNation base. If these things had spread anywhere else, they could be a thread to the Nation's plans...and needed to be dealt with. Knowing his villainous comrades would take care of their own turf, he stood tall and activated his suit's repulsion defense and dispersion field. Speaking loudly, "Alright, engage the unknowns! Leave the hero and Mu alone, aid them if they are about to fall! We can deal with them later..."

Six mechanical voices called "Yes, boss!" also alerting the beings to the new arrivals. The robots opening salvo caught some of the beings off guard and seemed to do damage, but they weren't down and out. It seemed a whole contigent of them was headed his way...

Activating his robots' force field defenses, he called, "Defensive positions!"

The robots formed a classic porcupine formation around their master, prepared to engage the oncoming forces. Todesfall pulled out his Plasma Rifle and took careful aim. "Today is going to be a loooooong day..."

A small figure scurried cautiously around the edges of the cemetary, keeping to the shadows as she watched the battle nearby. Her feet expertly found the perfect steps as she ran across the thin top bar of one of the large gates and vaulted off the top to land in a tree, her careful leap hardly even rustling the branches.

Crouching low on her perch, the figure watched the three fighters to see how they faired against the glowing creatures. She didn't want to jump right into the middle of something like this without any information whatsoever, so it would be best to hang back and try and see just what she was dealing with here.

((Coldfire isn't in power armor, just jeans and a t-shirt.))

"Yah, I could use some help, but it looks like you didn't finish your job all the way." Coldfire said pointing to the energy being that the Mu mage had engaged. As the beast glew with a red light coming from near the origin point of the creatures and it stood again with the same white glow.

"I don't think this is going to be easy." Coldfire said as he dropped the sword and cracked his knuckles, "But it'll be fun."

With the words said, Coldfire leapt into the middle of the massive army of the monsters and began sending a volley of fire blowing apart the earth and sending many of the beasts flying. Then, from overhead, an entire swarm of the white glints flew across the sky and slammed into the unsuspecting city.

((I was going by your avatar, heh. Anywhoo))

Todesfall fired his rifle and caught one of the already wounded energy soldiers right in the forehead, crumpling it. Calling out, the soldiers swarming and already within ten feet, "OPEN FIRE!!"

His robots engaged, catching as many energy beings as possible with their sweeping blasts and salvos of missles and grenades. The patches of flame seemed to help, hurting the veritable army that advanced. "Don't stop firing until they're down and out!"

His drones replied, "Yes, boss!" and continued to lay down a carpet of energy and munitions. Todesfall wasn't sure how long it would take for the energy soldiers to further advance on their position, he was relieved that the fields seemed to be holding, and kept the energy beings no closer than ten feet...for now. Almost as a second thought he slapped field beacons onto the firey one and the mystic with four careful tosses, calling, "These will help protect you, energy shields!" He hoped that the Nation was prepared to defend itself and that Paragon City's heroes could rise to the challenge as the bolts of light spread beyond Dark Astoria. After all, Lord Recluse had reserved the right to destroy or rule the city for himself, and there would be no world to take over if these creatures overran the Earth...

Death Wielder could see the battle raging a few hundred yards ahead. It was quite the light show, and he knew it would be impossible to escape the city if it drew in too many heroes.

"Just ONCE, I'd like a plan to go properly. If those idiot zombies don't screw up, then something like this happens. I guess I should do something to help, it may keep me from being arrested on the spot. Come to me, gentlemen."

Six corpses rose from the ground, summoned by Death Wielder's voice. Lurch, Shamble, and Decay were clothed in nothing but tattered shorts, and looked eager for some fun. Blood and Gore were armor-clad, with large, glowing swords. They were stone-faced, as usual. Necromondius was scowling beneath his hood, also as usual.

"So, what're we killing today, boss? And can we get some ice cream later?" Lurch's first sentence since his summoning managed to ellicit yet another sigh from his master. He sighed pretty much every time Lurch, Shamble, or Decay spoke, so Lurch didn't really care.

"We're to assist in that fight. Go, kill... whatever it is those heroes are fighting. Then I can get back to hunting down some nice magical artifacts and research. And will you STOP asking for ice cream?"

"Understood. Let's go, unto the breach, fellow warriors from beyond!" Blood's battle cry was loud, but apparently not loud enough to make Necromondius any more enthusiastic.

Death Wielder's company of the damned proceeded into the fray, and simply began fighting, no real strategy was employed. They knocked out several of the strange beings, only for more to show up.

"Damn, outnumbered and most likely outclassed by some amount. Fortunately, my minions tend to make up for their shortcomings with persistence. As much as I may berate and insult them, I really have grown fond of my little, rotting, dysfunctional family," Death Wielder's ruminations were cut short when a large shape ran by him to slam one of the energy soldiers into a nearby wall. This mountain of a man wore a three-piece suit, and had an unlit cigar in his mouth. His reflective sunglasses, ponytail, and five o' clock shadow betrayed the fact that he is, or was in the mafia within the last ten years. He looked at Death Wielder, and his face showed recognition.

"Ay yo, Ain't you Death Wielder? Youse is buddy-buddy wit my arch-nemesis! How's he doin', I ain't seen 'im inna while."

"Ah, you must be 'Knuckles.' He speaks highly of your fighting skills, but he has been busy lately. Know that you still live only because I'd rather not deprive him of his favorite opponent. He's so difficult to find anyone that can give him a good, honest fight."

"Yeah, whateva. So, youse wanna team up fer a bit?"

"Oh, hell, why not? Let's see if we can reach the center of this melee, and rendezvous with the other people ensconced in battle. Also, try to arrest me and I WILL kill you. I don't like heroes, you'd do well to remember that."

After taking what time they could to regroup and gain their bearings, Death Wielder, the undead, and Knuckles threw themselves back into the fray to attempt to make contact with their fellow combatants.

(OOC: This was a bit awkward, I'm no good at one-man dialogues, or fight scenes. I should improve tremendously upon reaching one of you guys. Anyway, Death Wielder is Necro/Dark, with Leadership, so expect him to see the invisible at certain distances. Knuckles, that being his old Mafia nickname, is an Invuln/SS Tanker with Fitness. He let's his fists do the talking, and they like to filibuster. He's hardcore New York Italian. By the way, if my reputation makes you uneasy, feel free to simply ask me to leave, and I will with no hard feelings.)

[/ QUOTE ]

The figure in the tree temporarily lost interest in the fight below as the multitude of shimmering lights began raining down on the city. Her eyes were wide as she stared at the sky, not sure what to do next. Should she stay and help these people here? Should she head into the other parts of the city to see what the situation was? Maybe she should head back home and make sure everyone there was okay. Sure, they where on the outskirts of Paragon, but who knew were all these things where falling.

The girl paid for her sudden lack of concentration when one of the energy creatures surprised her. She hadn't noticed being spotted until the glowing sword came within inches of her, slicing away the branch she'd been standing on. Unable to catch herself in time, the girl landed ignominiously, and rather painfully, on her rear.

She didn't have time to reflect on her humiliation, however, as the creature came at her again with the sword. Giving a short squeak of fear the girl rolled backward, narrowly avoiding the deadly strike. She continued the roll, bringing her to her feet just in time to dodge another swing of the weapon.

The wind made by the blade's passing washed over her face as she bent bacward to avoid it. Pivoting to the side she shifted weight to her hands, cartwheeling her legs in the air to avoid a low swipe from a second assailant.

She ducked underneath a diagnol slash to the right, sidestepped a vertical swing to her left, and backflipped over a lunge from behind. Timing the flip perfectly, she landed on the outstretched blade, pushing off less than a second later and landing on the second one's shoulder to immediatly vault backward over the first.

She lost her balance on the landing as she ducked the creature again as he whirled around to try and catch her with his weapon. Stumbling backward a bit, she ran into one of the large statures that were in some of the cemetarys of Dark Astoria.

Reaching above her head, the girl grabbed one of the carved wrinkles in the stone robe, pulling herself up abruptly to avoid a swipe at her midsection. She dropped to the ground in a crouch, a slash from the second creature whistling over her head, and sprung almost straight up, her hands briefly grabbing the thing's head as she leapfrogged over it.

One of her assailants was prepared this time, however, and caught her in the side with a spinning kick. The small girl flew several feet across the grass before sliding to a stop. She pulled herself painfully to her knees, looking up to find the two monsters staring down at her. They raised their swords to finish her off, only to have the statue, who's base had been severed by their ealier attacks, fall directly on them with a loud thud.

The girl blinked several times at the toppled masonary before regaining her footing and scurrying up the statue before any more of the creatures could box her in on the ground.

Knuckles had just bashed in the head of another energy beast, when he noticed something that would startle most normal people: a small robed person, possibly a child, fending off some energy soldiers rather well. But Knuckles, while lacking superpowers, was far from normal, in any sense of the word. So, instead of pondering how anyone that size could be so nimble, he instead went to help. He only had to punch a few foes before reaching the robed figure.

"Ay yo, youse needs some help here? Man, them lights was pretty freaky. So, what'cher name?" Knuckles was able to talk calmly, as if he weren't busy pounding several glowing creatures into the dirt. Finally, Knuckles remembered that he had been fighting with someone else "I wonda where DW got off ta. Ah well, he'll be fine."

---------------------------------

Death Wielder and his henchmen were cutting through the ranks of energy beasts without much effort, although it was becoming a war of attrition, and Death Wielder was pretty sure the energy people had more resources availible than he did at the moment. Fortune smiled upon him as he stumbled upon another fighter, a man in a t-shirt and jeans.

"Hello, there. I don't suppose you'd know the source of these... whatever they are. All I know is that those lights from a minute ago probably have something to do with it. Don't mind the undead, they're just doing their job. Lovely weather we've been having lately, eh? Well, I mean, I don't know about here, but it's been very temperate in the Rogue Isles. Oh, I forgot, how rude of me. My name is Death Wielder, what is yours?"

((God, I thought the forum would never be back up!))

Coldfire was overwhelmed monsters literally crawling over him as he eradiated fire from his body scorching many. In rage he let loose on massive fire attack, Inferno, blowing backing all the monsters in the area. The few that survived charged him swords drawn only to have machine gun fire tear through their ranks.

Coldfire looked up and saw a power armored man he knew all too well.

"You didn't think I'd let you have all the fun, did you?" Carlos said superleaping to Cold's side.

"This isn't fun, Carlos, these things need to be stopped." Coldfire said looking at his watch, "...great..."

Then from behind them, a bright red light came out again from the origin point, resurrecting the beasts for another fight. Then, from the dark shadows where the lights originated came a new enemy. The first was a four legged blue energy being. It's spiderlike legs led up to a humanoid body, it's arms ending in large, cannon-like hands. It's shoulder home to a small turrent, remeniscent of a gatling gun.

The other being was much more menacing looking. Eight foot tall at the least, the beast glew eerily red. It's massive hulking form looked like an armored Hulk. It's glowing body barely visible under the massive armor. It's humanoid form had no weapons, obviously a melee fighter.

"This is going to be a long day..." Coldfire said as he remade his ice blade and rushed at the closest red monster. Carlos, smoothly lifted his assault rifle and fired a grenade into the midst of the white monsters.

((I'll take the context of my post and add it with yours so as to round this out.))

Coldfire had been knocked away by the red monster when a necromance happened up to him.

"Sure don't. Zombies are fine by me. Been raining a lot here. Coldfire Kaiser." Coldfire said as he leapt back at the giant red bruiser slamming his foot into it's face making it stumble a little. Then as he was dropping, the monster grabbed him and swung and threw him into the necromancer sending them both flying through a statue.

"Damn...you alright." Coldfire asked slowly standing holding his side, "Think I broke a rib or nine..."

"My apologies, warrior", Mu'Rahu comments, as she sees her former oponent drag itself it it's feet, and re-form it's armour.

Mu'Rahu's spellcasting was a curious thing. Rather then wild gestures and shouted incantations of most sorcerrs, she held her limbs rididly to her side - even more so as her concentration was increasingly taxed. The sorceress closed her eyes in concentration and unleashed a torent of seemingly electrical red bolts in the direction of her oponent. She cursed as it's shields disspiated much of teh energy, but with each strike, she could see it weakening. Sooner or later it's shields would fail as her attacks disspated the energy which maintained them or simplyinflict enough punishment to batter then down. Unforutnatly, "sooner or later" looked as if it mgiht come too late, as the creature closed on her with ever increasing speed.

There! Just as it reached striking range, it's defenses began to waver. But it was too late - the thing was already in close. Mu'Rahu gritted her teath against the anticipated pain.

The thing swung... but never conencted. At the last possible instant, an energy bubl interposed itself betwean her forehead, and it's mighty swing. Mu'Rahu issued a grateful nod in the direction of the helpful scientist and his roobtic minions without even slowing down her mystic assault. Had the thing had a face, it would most likely have worn a bemused expression, as bolt after bolt of crimson lighting rent into it.

The thing was still a resiliant oponent - and it was still swinging at her wildly. For now it's blows were bounding off she force ubbbles or dissipating theri force (although not exactly painlessly) against her own shields, but sooner or later, it was bound to strike her down.

With a final burst of effort, Mu'Rahu launched a final, powerful explosion of electrical energy into her foe's chest. Sucess! The thing exploded in a burst of light that was almost blinding! The Mystic took only a moment to exult in her victory, however - more foes were on their way, drawn by the battle, and defeating only one of them had been a taxing enough affair.

"I believe you're right, warrior: this _is_ going to be fun."

"I'll live, my suit is enchanted to prevent broken bones and the like, but it can still hurt like it."

Seeing harm come to their master and, though he didn't often show it, friend, whipped the undead into a frenzy. They charged forward, slaughtering the soldiers with ruthless effieciency.

"Yo! Nobody messes with the boss but US! And even then, we only mess with his head!" Once again, Lurch managed to ellicit a sigh from Death Wielder with his challenge to the invaders. Of course, he just considered his point proven with that, "See, like I said!"

"Ay yo, youse needs some help here? Man, them lights was pretty freaky. So, what'cher name?"

"Um, I'm Be..." the girl started before catching herself. "I mean, I'm the Flying Squirrel. Thanks, I guess I let my mind wander. I didn't even notice them spot me." She hopped back as one creature lept onto the wall after her. Dodging several attacks, she flipped backward to gain some distance and flung a couple throwing knives at the monster. Her near-pouty expression when they didn't seem to have any effect was almost comical.

She quickly shrugged out of the dark red poncho she'd been wearing to keep out the recent rains, tiring of it restricting her movements. The formfitting outfit underneath was a light tan with white markings on the front and around the gloves and boots. A cowl fitted over her head with two ears sewn on the top.

"So do you know what's going on?" she asked the larger man. "I mean, are these guys aliens or... some.... thing......" The Squirrel's question trailed off as the two new monsters appeared. This wasn't the muggings and bank robberies she was used to. She was SO outta her league here.

((I think Coldfire and I cross-posted))

Rahu was jsut turning around to assist Coldfire, when he weas sent crashing apst her, and into the newly arrived necromancer.

She ruthlessly supressed the urge to shake her head, she looked down at them both. Instead, she spoke, in a flat tone, "I am Rahu. I am pleased to meet you both. I knwo not the origins of these beings, but I know that we cannot remain here indefinatly lest we be buried under them."

Coldfire looking up at the sorceress was then suprised by another sight. In the sky, hundreds, no thousands of the glints slammed into Paragon and its surroundings. More of the lights landed in Astoria. Climbing into the air, Coldfire looked out at a mass of enemies that lit up the darkness. There were millions of them.

"RETREAT!" Coldfire yelled as he began lobbing fireballs into the crowd of lights trying to delay the advancing beasts, "WE HAVE TO GET OUT AND PROTECT THE CIVILIANS!"

As the group began to flee, Coldfire reached the gate and warned the guards to shut the gate once the others got through. Reaching Talos Island, he watched as explosions riddled the city and heroes battled unmercifully. Flying out to get a better view, Coldfire turned and saw the War Walls flicker and stop generating the force field as masses of the beasts flowed over the walls. Looking down at the streets, Coldfire watched as heroes faught alongside villains.

Tsoo, Warriors, even the Council were fighting side by side with their mortal enemies. This was the Ultimate Battle for the heroes and villains of the world. This was the turning point in human history.

((Cue orcastra music . Well, hope we get more heroes to help, the real fight starts now.))

The floating made a dash for the war-wall along with her new-found companions. As she did, she had just enough time to reflect upon the irony of the situation. She was a loyal Arachnos Mystic - had been so since adolesance. And here she was fleeing to safety behind the(both metaphorical, and, amazingly, literal) gates of Paragon City. Fate has an odd sense of humor.

The situation was trully astounding on the other side. Any worries she mgiht ahve had that her origins would be recognised were swept away as it became immediatly apparent that everyone, from Paragon's famous heroes, to it's assorted super-powered gangs (some of whom were not unfamiliar to her), to, every United States military asset within a hundred miles had far more important things to do. Thank heavens for small miracles. It was also becoming increasingly apparent that their efforts, while noble, were a stop-gap measure at best.

"These defences are apathetic. Uncoordinated. They will fall." Even she was surprised to ehar the worry in her voice. This was Paragon. By all rights she should dance for joy. But the ferocity of these things, and the power of them, scared her. They must not be allowed to develop a foothold anywhere, not even here in paragon. She only hoped her superiors agread with her (her fellow mystics would be monitering mystically, if proceadure was followed).

"We must learn more of these creatures if we are do defeat them. Would you assist me in capturing one?"

Coldfire looked down at the woman and then back out at the carnage insuing. A frown dawned on his face as he thought for a moment.

"I can't help." Coldfire said as he looked back at the others, "But I think Carlos can."

From the gate, Carlos walked over to the woman and said in a joking manner, "Sure baby, I can help."

Coldfire launched himself into the air and yelled back at Carlos, "I'm going to get Becky!"

Flying off toward Skyway City, Coldfire's face turned grim as he saw the armies of the energy beings begin to turn the tide.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Charcold stood at the top of a mound of the monsters lobbing fireballs and destroying mobs of the beasts that had survived. Luckily, his minions had came to help. Both Drone of War and Frigyd had showed up to help in the fun. Lord Recluse and his soldiers were fighting off the monsters in the main section of the Grandville complex. Charcold cared enough only to clear out the area around the dock.

"This is our chance to steal some of Arachnos' documents and information." Drone of War said as his minions moved back into a tactical position.

"Alright. Lets go then." Charcold said as he flew off toward Recluse's tower with the other two in tow.

((Lets get some villains in this as well.))

The look on Mu'Rahu's face at that was trully priceless. IN her carrear, she had been called many, many things, only a few of them complimentary, but "babe". That was new. Shurgging her shoulders, she took to the air after him.

"Greetings Carlos. I am called Rahu. Who is this other we are going to find, and how will she aid us?"

As she flaoted, she clothed her eyes in concentratio, and felt herself linked to the adept monitering her.

*You have seen?*

*Yes Mistress*

*our mutual masters?*

*Are occupied, mistress. The creatures attack here to. No aid will be coming. Lord Recluse has ordered all our soldiers recalled.*

*Unwise. The creatures landed here. They must e defeated here.*

The Adepts's voice became nervous. He ahd been her servant for some time, but he was disobaying orders. It was not unexpected. *Many of the other guardians agree, mistress. Scirocco believes that we have lost contact with you. But there is no aid to be sent.*

Well. There it is. As the vigilantees would say: time to be heroic.

"Hm? Don't know where they came from, only that they can sure as hell take a punch betta den mosta da villains in town. I try ta let my fists do tha thinkin'. Follow me, we should try to find more people."

Knuckles noticed that the fight was starting to move into the city, and he fought his way over to where Death Wielder was fighting.

"Youse okay, DW? Youse gots some rock in your hair."

"That's what happens when you get knocked through a statue. By the way, the three heroes next to me are Coldfire, Rahu, and... Carlos. I'm not sure, but I think I've seen Rahu before.... Nevermind, just try to help us, you know, not die."

"Youse got it, it's what I'm good at. By da way, dis one wit' me is called Flyin' Squirrel."

"Charmed, I'm sure. Now can we please get back to staying alive?"

"Aw right already!"

(OOC: Unless there's a reason for doing so, I usually don't identify who is who in my dialogues, as my characters are easy to tell apart, although in cases where one of Death Wielder's henchmen is talking, I will, of course, identify which one in my writing.)
