  1. Nice job. Link

GG might get a good laugh out of Power Guy.
  2. I think it's pants. Wear pants, don't see tail. Wear a poncho/sack/skirt, then tail.

Or it may be type of tail. Can't hide a bushy tail in pants.
  3. Because that's what the Red Skull called it in the movie. Of course we are going to see him again because I don't think he died, he just went somewhere else.

I was thinking about the cons I attended. Beside the wedding reception the first Anime Central did have some kind of Nun's convention going on at the same time at the hotel. Also ADV happen to be advertising their latest Evangelion DVD hard with posters plastered everywhere featuring Lilith nailed up to the cross in Central Dogma with the lance stuck in her side.

It made an interesting ice breaker.
  5. Congrats, your video work has been a joy to view and really made an impact on the metagame community. Like true MA authors, it shows what a player can do other than just the rush to 50.

Your Drop Ship Down, Avatar, Time to Start and Heart Divided videos show off your creative side and your Issue videos help psyche up the player base for what's to come.

    /standing ovation
  6. When a game is under development, you tend to have a much larger team of people simply to handle the volume of art assets that the game needs. With this game we had the original launch going to the CoV launch and the GR launch which was when the staffing levels were a lot higher than the times in between. So it does boil down to a simple manpower issue.

Also it's probably unlikely that all the textures were first done up at a very high resolution and were then sampled down to the current texture size. If that was the case then it would be a lot easier to create a higher rez texture pack. But I doubt that was every the case.

Also IIRC bump mapping was only added to the game at the time CoV came out. And while bump mapping may be able to offer the illusion of depth between the fingers (the way brick walls and the sidewalk are given the illusion of varying depths), it's still a matter of having high enough resolution of the hand texture maps so it would look somewhat acceptable. Even if the texture maps have enough resolution, it will still require someone to add in the bump map, test it, tweak it for every hand/glove model the game has.

Personally I'm a lot more interested in improving the old faces and improved/standard resolution for the chest logos than worry about mitten hands.

Maybe if there's a huge influx of money from Freedom they will be able to hire more artists for costume item revamps, otherwise I don't see it coming anytime soon.

    Just my 2 inf.
  7. The only PR tokens Premium Players get are converted from their previous accrued vet rewards and years of subscription. Once that is done then it's the same as a free account, one per 1200 PP purchased. This makes PR tokens another big carrot to encourage subscriptions or using the store.
  8. The question with the last picture is whether or not the bridesmaids are part of the movie or are simply mundanes going to a wedding next to the shoot.

It reminds me when anime cons were still small enough that the hotel still had other events going on such as weddings. Don't remember which con that was, maybe the first Anime Central.

"If you remade this for todays audience...what would you change?"

Now of course the big diehard fans would cry "nothing!" but it got us to thinking.

    1) I'd personally go the old school route on the characters 'classes', Fighter, Cleric, Mage, Thief. Then I'd probably add in Ranger and Cavalier. To make the Fighter and Cavalier different I'd have one focused on Offensive power (probably wielding two swords...because everyone loves dual blade using characters) while the Cavalier would be more Defensive and the groups 'tank' character.

Now the Cleric brings up an interesting problem...mainly in more religious countries obviously and we all know that D&D has a history with the heavily Christian America (heck they don't like characters using Magic as a whole, let alone actively being a conduit for a made up deity). So careful ground would have to be trodden in that regards.

    2) Give them proper (but still magical) weapons, it always seemed stupid having the Cavalier running around with JUST a shield. To get around this I'll take an example from a TV show I watched and have the enemies explode in clouds of red smoke when hit with a sword, thus keeping it decidely kid friendly.

    3) Story arcs...the old series is very much a 'monster of the week' type deal due to the fact it was designed to be Syndicated heavily, thus was not allowed a proper beginning (mind you the opening does tell you everything you need to know) or a proper end (though that was apparently due to writer squabbling as neither could decide on how to end it and less to do with Syndication).

    4) Setting, to be fair I'd probably keep the setting of the original show, other settings are a bit too gruesome for a kids show, Ravenloft, Darksun and Planescape are out, especially Planescape since that just enters into a whole new area of mind screwing.

Anyway that's just my thoughts, you guys ever thought about something like this, taking an old show and seeing if you could 'modernize' it...yes I know most things are a product of their time and should remain unchanged but hey the reboot of the Turtles was pretty damn good.
Most of these points are found in a few anime series I've seen. Pretty much all of it except for the body image replacement, which I'll keep with Heavy Metal's Den segment.
  10. Cartoon Network, 8pm EDT.

Replay of Firebreather before it at 7pm.
  11. There isn't a penalty if you cancel, you are still "subscribed" until the renewal date. But you will get a "Why?" survey if you do it that way. Another way is to remove the card from the account (assuming you pay by credit or debit card). You don't get the survey.

Then either way you subscribe to the new plan and reenter all your card data. That's how I do (remove card then subscribe with new plan).
  12. I think that's what they are planning to do. As it was shown at SDCC, the character creator allowed you to check out all the costume parts available, noting the ones you would have to buy to use. I could see the same thing being done with powersets, previewing them in the power customize tab of the creator.

    And I could be wrong.
  13. What shot down the VentureStar was problems with the composite fuel tanks. Carbon (the tanks were carbon fiber based) doesn't really react well liquid hydrogen. Now some of the other components proved themselves like the aerospike engine and the new heat resistant materials to handle re-entry. But the only way to get it's SSTO design to work was to have a very light weight design and conventional fuel tanks were just to heavy to do the job.

Right now there are companies that have proposed crew vehicles as well as launch systems and some with one or the other. The Orion capsule is dead in name but have two spin offs of it, NASA/Lockheed Martin MPCV and Boeing's CST-100. You also have SpaceX's Dragon capsule and SpaceDev's Dream Chaser lifting body. Now SpaceX also has their own launch vehicle while the other three use man-rated versions of current unmanned space delivery systems such as the Atlas V or Delta IV.
  14. Actually the little girl may have ended up for adoption in the US.

Also there are many Asian MMOs where you are encouraged to spend real money to buy chances of getting a good or rare item. There was a story on such a MMO a year or two ago about them playing with the odds to increase profits and forcing excessive PvP to encourage players to take the shortcut of buying a chance for better gear.
  15. Here's a prebuilt from CyberPowerPC at NewEgg. $1000, i5-2500K quad core, Z68 motherboard, 8GB of DDR3-1333 memory, nVidia GTX 560 video card, 1TB HD. I would say that'll do the job nicely.

    PC Power Supply

Any of this latest generation of power supplies have both 4 and 8 pin CPU power connectors.

IIRC that box also has a boatload of fans and a TEC to cool the CPU? Then I can understand the wattage requirement. Otherwise I think 730-800 watts is serious overkill.

Corsair's TX750 V2 is $105 after rebate. Can crank out the entire wattage at 12 volts if need be. Should be plenty.
  17. While the game has something like 6-9 threads, only two are chewing up the bulk of CPU time and can run reasonably in parallel. The other threads either run very quickly and or infrequently to matter much.
  18. Well they came in handy during the first Gulf War launching cruse missiles as well as using their big guns.

As for the fact they are on standby, you can't jam, cause a premature detonation or easily deflect 1.2 metric tons of metal tossed over 20+ miles. Who knows when it's unique abilities could come in handy again?

Also hasn't Space Battleship Yamato taught us nothing?

OK, then I'm guessing it was the European version of the American version of GwtDT poster. Mildly shocking. Not so much or surprising if you saw the original film.
