I've got to thank you for that mental image. Weirdly I had no trouble imagining an ICBM that could talk.

Actually I don't think I've ever had a character with Vast Power. Ulala on a technicality, but really who's going to cross half the universe to visit?
Even Fans Regen, probably the most powerful ability I've touted, wasn't as good as some peoples. Destroying most of her body would have killed her, for some people that wouldn't even come close! -
I'll be sure to catch the next one, just had an itching for GG RP. Shame that no one else did really
-
I've actually had 2 god like characters.
Ulala was a god of a far off world, the illusion sent to this world was at the far reaches of her control hence why it was weak. This meant a very weak character with a god complex, which I hope was fun, in a way!
Soaring Horizon is the Avatar of a god with no real worshipers, as such her powers are pretty weak and she has lots of problems because of it, the old sun god frowned on technology quite a bit, so it breaks around her (Although only very simple devices, no crushing robots) and believed in getting your hands dirty, hence not being able to work magic without touching the target. So it's not Gods in themselves that are bad (Unless my characters suck, in which case discount all that), it's going overboard with the power a character has. -
Well this a subject that bugs me a little. So a chance to vent (Again, oh god just hit me for going on about it >.<
is something I'll leap on.
God characters, or those that are massively powerful, don't suck. But they do suck in CoH. Superman is fine because his enemies are the kind you'd expect him to fight, Darksied, Brainiac and Doomsday are all character as powerful if not more so than Superman. If he's fighting Batman, Lex Luthor or any of the less powerful villains you can bet your [censored] the words 'Kryptonite' or 'Magic' will pop up to keep the story interesting.
The thing is people in CoH not only are fighting Villains that aren't anywhere on that scale of power (I mean Recluse is a wuss compared to any Superman villain.) but also usually thier Supermanish character don't even have the weakness Superman does, making them even more powerful and even less interesting.
Playing someone who is bound to win no matter the adversity, with no effort, is boring. Very boring. And playing a character that fits the setting around these people makes you start to question either why these all powerful beings haven't fixed everything yet, or worse, why you even bother turning up.
I once did an freeform RP session with someone who couldn't be touched by anything, their powers blocked all attacks and they could easily dispose of enemies. It was dull, the only role I found was being the sane voice to their immense power trip, but really I could have not been there and the difference wouldn't have been felt. They couldn't lose!
All I ask (And I do mean ask, I can't force people to do it) is for people to try remain in level with the settings. Blasters aren't tougher than Tanks, Tanks can't hit harder than Scrappers, you don't have every power in the book, pick a few and for Christ's sake stick with them. Fell free to expand them, or change them out if needed but don't keep amassing them until you're a Blaster who's impervious to damage, can melt steal with a touch and still throw bolts of energy that disintegrate all matter without ever getting tired. While asleep. That's silly.
Your characters limitations are usually just as, if not more interesting than your strengths. You need some to be a complete character. They need to be actual limitations too, some obscure weakness no one will every feasibly come across or use or a mental problem like 'Too Confident' isn't a weakness, it's fluff. You need to be weak in some areas to be interesting and to be part of team. Else why bother even making a team at all? Just leave us alone and do it all yourself, we'll prefer it that way.
I guess what I'm saying is, don't make us all feel like Aquaman. Third wheels in a fight we're all participating in, but essentially unnecessary when you've got those that can change the world so easily around them. -
WAR's PvP works because the whole game and much of the audience are there for said PvP. In fact if anything the PvE suffers a good bit for it, being more of a side show.
I think (Although i'd happily be proved wrong) that really a game can't have its cake and eat it too in this case. Balancing between PvP and PvE takes too much time and is too much of a high wire act to work, you're going to have to choose one or the other. -
It does seem a bit badly designed if you 'just' need 5 corrupters.
Then again I did the STF and wasn't too pleased to find Recluse two shotted willpower tanks. What's the point in putting a fight so rediculously out of whack with the ones before it? -
See! By the time you got to the end of that you were bemused too. Odd I say!
-
I find I often come up with complicated backstories, but they seem to iron themselves out or chnge almost against my will!
It's still fun though, just a little odd to see a character run away with itself. -
Heroing, the three lab Bunnies had come to the conclusion one day, was not something you stopped once you started. Every little thing became an exercise towards it. Making breakfast became a test of organization and timing and going to the shops had you always looking out for that one mugger or shady character, there was many a test throughout the day they had said, just waiting to catch you off guard.
An so after failing the Being aware of your surroundings test we now drop in on two lab bunnies who were working out how to get a third, Christmas wrapped bunny free. Usually theyd have no problems cutting the thin plastic, but a hasty decision to make Leas presents wrapping extra strong to give her a little fun opening it had backfired rather spectacularly taking them a full minute to burn even a tiny hole so the wrapped up bunny could breathe.
In our own time said the slightly laboured and muffled voice of the wrapping bound Bunny. Not like we have another twenty peoples worth of presents to finish
We cant think of a dissolvent one of the pondering bunnies thought out loud Its stuck fast, youll just have to heat up and burn your way out.
Rocking from side to side the wrapped bunny manages to wriggle up to a sitting position, fingers and toes waggling loose through the plastic as she slowly burns her way free. Fine she says, Well while this sorts itself out, lets review.
The Hologram card for Sara is tested and ready, shell finally get to see the nineteen of us sing Merry Christmas, well . Eighteen, Tanya just stood to the side and I suppose its only seventeen as Marie more sort of mumbled.
And the five overseas sang it in Japanese continued the other Bunny But regardless, its done and enveloped. Hope she likes it as much as the prototype energy suit.
Mouth now blue and free of the entangling plastic the sitting bunny nods and moves on Twilighter we got Rock Band, hopefully we can all play that later. If anyone is up for singing again
And Schro gets an old laptop with the stabilizer so it wont get lost when he fades in and out. Hopefully he wont just use it for porn. Carried on a Bunny leaning down to lever at the gaps in the plastic forming, the other free Bunny looping her arms around her waist and heaving.
Gnnn no thats stuck tight. Once we get Leas body spray wrapped well only have the rest of the clones left to finish breathing heavily the tugging bunny sat pushing her glasses back up her nose. The three had had trouble finding Lea something that wasnt embarrassing to give, instead deciding theyd make something and so the comfort spray was their answer. Diffusing into a thin membrane when sprayed over the body it helped trap heat in and as a bonus kept dirt and smells out of hair or fur. It wasnt the showiest present theyd thought of, but it was the most practical once theyd found that a lot of jobs didnt happen in very clean or fragrant places.
You know a free bunny said watching the squirming Bunny on the floor We could always wrap a bow on and give that to Lea as a present instead?
Dont say that said the trapped one, rolling in circles and bumping off the walls in an extra effort to get free Else well have to give her the whole set
Eventually the Bunny got free, but they all agreed it would have been a nice present. -

Well yes
Although Planetside did the whole merge thing and hasn't seemed to suffer for it.

Actually subscriptions picked up for a good while as people came back to enjoy the larger battles (And get blasted by my Magrider. Suck it Emerald [censored]!) . In fact I can't think of any game with a stable population dying off due to a server merge.
Plenty that did when they were already dying, but that was hardly the merges fault was it? -

"It's the suit, I swear. I can't dance in a suit."

Hugging in him to her for the slower paced dance Horizon wanders around the dance floor, a low kicking step as they wind around the other dancers.
"You dance great in it, so i'll assume your some kind of professional out. Will have to take that up later!" lowering her voice she whispers into his ear "I mean look how bad the rest of them are, I bet if we herd them a little we can get a good pile up going." the air of mischief about her clearly not gone even here. -
Although i'm not intending to volunteer it is worth pointing out they can fly the other alt to the mission and have them sit at the start. Or even better follow with the heal on Auto. There you go, normal exp and you get to do the mish with a nice healing buff.
-
Got to say thanks to you Pious for not only organising this but doing videos too! It's nice to watch the ones you miss while doing a little between fight RP.
Toxic's unending poster campaign for Arachnos continues in between fights, results so far are 0 converts and 1 slightly bruised Hero ego. Oh well. -
Okay I'll bite. I admire the dedication in getting this thread to six pages, but is there any real point to it any more?

"Happy?" BODICIA displayed at the bottom of the screen. "The micromanagment I have to do to keep you happy... it is a good job I am a loving, benevolent friend of humanity" She said. For a brief moment, the armed defences in the ceiling opened up, weaponry barrels sticking out before retracting.
[/ QUOTE ]
Horizon looks down from the briefly much more threatening ceiling and putting a hand on Danny waist and another on his shoulder "Don't worry" she says "It's not like she'd get close to hitting me, you'll just have to follow my lead. Not allowed to get shot either remember?"
It takes a lot of effort to dance to a banghra pop song you've never head before, but Horizon was going to give it a go. Watching the pair on the dance floor it wouldn't be hard to believe dancing was all a complicated ploy by Horizon to test Danny for motion sickness, but the pair seemed to be having fun regardless. -
Pulling a face at the music Horizon hops the plate across hands and slides it on to a table, giving Danny a quick kiss she fiddles with her ear piece trying to turn it up over the din.
"BODI?" she tries experimentally "Can we get Sandstorm by Darude?" grinning at the slightly inappropriate choice for a prom dance.
"Come on you" she says to Danny, tugging him out onto the dance floor with an arm locked round his side "Hope you can still move in that suit, we're going to bounce around a bit to get in the mood" -

"I just hope Joanna doesn't come after me for hitting Jamie! You're looking great too. Makes a change seeing you in something that isn't armour, skin tight or has its own heating system!"
[/ QUOTE ]
Soaring Horizon laughs leaning to give Bassai a peck on the cheek "You kicked their butt fair and square Danny, don't be so modest and don't worry, i'll take care of any angry clouds. You look amazing too Anni, where's Libby got to though? Raiding the buffet already?" -
[ QUOTE ]
Instead, he headed straight for the buffet and grabbed a plate, quickly piling on some food and tasting it all, pulling strange faces at some of the more "acquired tastes", before slowly turning back to the crowd.
[/ QUOTE ]
"Boo" says Soaring Horizon leaning down to get in Danny's view as he finishes turning, hand coming up to catch the plate in the air as he makes a small jump and she quickly picks off a small spring roll for herself.
Wearing a long sleeved one piece gold and slightly sparkling dress with a black sash round the waist Horizon had gone all out on the jewellery, her long hair brushed straight for a change and held in place by a silver tiara with a ruby embossed in the centre plate surrounded by several sparkly smaller stones. Through her hair were silver moons and stars held in place by magical trickery and round her neck was a fine silver chain with a golden sun hanging off it, clinging for deal life to her chest.
"You look gorgeous Danny, good thing I got here before any of the little harpies managed to get their claws in you." Horizon says with a smile, slowly picking away at Danny's plate. -
I'm free all days until the 11th of January. Then i'd prefer a Friday as this won't conflict with any exams/project work/general insanity
-
Bear in mind I have no taste in music.
Fanservice because it's full of energy and slightly cutesy!
Pumice it's chaotic enough for her that's for sure.
Soaring Horizon Well she is you know.
For any character that never quite made it at the statue!
-
Yikes! Might be a good while before you get to mine.
You say 12 fights, did that include mine and Freddie's little tiff at the end? I want to see the gang war carnage in a more relaxed setting! -
The timers need to be sped up significantly to be of any use. Currently Patrol experience is the only one I find that even helps me in the slightest, although I am working towards a base teleporter!
