    Best Solo Build?

Fulcrum shift doesn't affect Blizzard, yet anyway. I gather damage buffs such as those from fulcrum shift should carry to 'pets' (summoned entities) such as Blizzard when i7 is introduced.

    What say you?

You can do better than that!

What say you? *raises assault rifle in the air* WHAT SAY YOU?!
  3. I think it's more a case of no one else is arranging things in Doulos' absense. I'm sure if someone suggested a team-up whatever evening, people would turn up and a good time would be had by all

    No, it's too perilous.

I'll be there of course. We going to meet in Indy Port at Sister Psyche then?

The problem with good writers and good stories is that you can't tell them fast enough to keep the fans satisfied
  7. I should be able to make that, I'll have words with my people.

ice/dark could propably be better, depends on situation though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was over on the US forums and saw a post that reminded me ice/dark was one of those super popular combos like dark/fire brutes (for double consumption).

Ice/dark has some nice attributes, such as an extra hold in dark, giving 3 total (altho most omit bitter freeze ray on account of its long activation time and long recharge, leaving you with 2 good solid holds), cone fear from dark, and nice AoE combos with tar patch (slow and -res) and ice storm/blizzard (slow + hefty damage).

Again it can bring a lot to teams, and should solo very nicely as well, altho you might need to tweak your build more to make the most out of whichever you engage in more often.

Sillier than that, darks snipe is available at level 2!

    Best Solo Build?

Ice/Kin has great single target damage, 2 holds, a powerful heal and, later on, a powerful endurance gain power that will rid you of such worries for the rest of your villains career.

Add to this that you will still be popular on teams for making a single selfless addition to your build: speed boost. Just for those rare occasions you might need to team

    Isn't the AV Mary Macomber?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yup, I was just recalling from memory - I suppose I should mark all information recalled from my memory as wholly unreliable
  12. You fight the cabal AV Amy Johnnson 10 times in the first mission - an SO enhancement and big inspiration for each time you defeat her.

I'll try to be there with Paragon Prime, lvl 33 ice blaster extraordinaire

    Preferred meeting place?

    Smoke Grenade

No, smoke grenade (nor similar powers such as 'smoke' or 'flash arrow') won't stack. But at least that allows them to give it a decent recharge.

I don't know what the to-hit debuff is tho.

    Team Synergi!

Not especially, but I figure it'd be handy for those of us working at point blank range being as we'd likely generally be outside of the sonic and forcefield dispersion bubbles. Every little helps and all that.

EDIT: That'll teach me to forget to send the post before going for something to eat - conversation moved on somewhat since then

    Team Synergi!

I confess my endurance has always lasted out fine when my leadership toggles aren't running - I've started managing them better, so I have them on when recovery aura is up, and I'll switch assault off when I start running into problems after RA has gone. I try to keep tactics up as much as possible, but once or twice it's dropped simply because my endurance has zeroed!

But with transference on its way, I'll pick up manaeuvers shortly afterwards and pretty much live in the middle of mobs
  16. Okay I figure I could use another regular weekly get together like my defender team, but would rather like to get a look at the whole villains side of things.

I know the ne'er-do-well counterparts thing has been mentioned a couple of times in passing, but might there be any actual interest in having an 8-man team meet up once a week (probably Wednesday) for a couple of hours (probably 7-9 or 8-10 - whichever works best). Obviously if there was further interest there'd be scope for additional 'chapters', who would of course be free to arrange to play whenever the hell they felt like.

Basic sales pitch: a 'chapter' would consist of 8 players, 1 Warmaster, 1 Dark Apostle, 0-1 Apprentices and 5-6 Bloodletters.

Bloodletters would be AR/traps corrupters. A Warmaster would be a robots/traps mm or an AR/traps corrupter. Both would be technology origin.

There are of course advantages and disadvantages to this setup - there would be no aim or buildup, or even a targetting drone, but on the other hand we would potentially have very high defence (from multiple force field generators) alongside nigh-impenetrable mezz protection even if a shot did hit, 'tanking' devices such as acid mortar and seeker drones, and (ignoring the leadership pool) no toggles.

The Dark Apostle would conceptually be a magic-origin spiritual leader/supporter, as opposed to the tactical leadership of the Warmaster. I was thinking necro/dark mm (the zombies being victims/prisoners, having had any useful information ripped out of them, and the better minions perhaps being fallen Apostles) or a dark/dark corrupter, with the Apprentice being a dark/dark corrupter.

Aside from the PvE side of things, I would hope we might be able to arrange an occasional confrontation with our inferior, soft-hearted counterparts from Paragon City in the PvP zones

I would feel compelled to point out that my view on this group is only moderately inspired by Warhammer - some cool sounding names and some basic roles within the group, perhaps even some influence on the look of our outfits, but any inaccuracies are not some glaring oversight on my part but simply a matter of not being terribly important to me! I have no idea what a Bloodletter's role is within the Chaos Marines, I simply liked the name, which coincidentally I heard first as a variety of Drudge in Asheron's Call (altho I concede it's quite likely they pinched the name from the Chaos Marines variety).

I would also not go so far as to make any detailed backstory that might impose on ideas present or future for the Imperial Rifles. I'm quite happy to explain away the animosity our group holds for the IR as that it was them that got us locked up in the Zigg where we would be starting prior to leaving for the Rogue Isles. If anyone has any grander ideas in mind I'd love to hear them - I've found the standard of creative writing on these forums to be mighty impressive (at its best anyway - it can't all be good, even I've put things on here ).

Anyway, as you may have surmised, I've given a fair amount of thought to this - I've spent the better part of the last 2 or 3 weeks away from home and CoH, altho not so much away from the internet - I just hijack the connection of whoever I'm staying with

Anyway, if you're interested, I don't know, maybe PMs would be better so as not to hijack this thread? Then I'd get a feel for whether there's sufficient interest as to be worth making a thread on the villains board for it as we start to organise things more solidly.

Also, any costume designing enthusiasts, feel free to play about with the designer for uniforms and the like for us

@Demon signing off (and if you can find someone who can ramble better than me you get double your money back! I do apologise )
  17. Sounds good, I'd be up for the boss hunting afterwards too Sadly my scrapper wouldn't be bringing much to the party besides smitage - no invis or teleport here.

    Team Synergi!

Poor Heracles didn't really stand a chance. We'll have to wait and see if Maestro can provide more of a challenge

It's interesting to see that even now we can still level up, sometimes twice, within our 2 hours.

Anyway, nicely done as always folks

Oh, and 3 more levels to Transference

    Blizzard

Personally I'd say range is a significant factor - blaze is virtually melee range. On top of that, my understanding is blaze would not consistantly outdamage bitter ice blast because its base damage is slightly lower. The additional DoT can bring it higher than bitter ice blast, but not always.

EDIT: I would also note that bitter ice blast has -spd, -rchg and -acc as secondary effects, where fire's blaze has that DoT that provides the ever so slightly better (on average) damage.

Whilst I sorely doubt it would happen, it would certainly be interesting to see the set even more centred towards single target and cones perhaps? That is if they didn't have such an obsene activation time as the present one. As has been suggested, snow storm could be swapped out for a snipe, maybe blizzard could be swapped out for a cone similar to full auto, making it more regularly available and not draining all endurance. And to compliment that perhaps bitter freeze ray could become a cone hold, without its present damage and with a longer recharge presumably. Not that I'm too fussed about the snipe to be honest, I'm not too fond of them. Given ice blast's penchant for closer range and control, perhaps a short range disorienting attack like cosmic burst would be a better option?

    Team Synergi!

What's attendance looking like for tomorrow? Remember we have an 'Elite Boss' to humiliate

I designed a nifty superspeedster outfit for Synergi, so I might give more thought to picking up superspeed at 24, what with there not being anything much more interesting to pick from.

The score was something silly and I'm afraid Art of War won.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What are you so afraid about, you were on the winning side no?
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Well, what Defender team can withstand 2-3 Blaster nukes at the same time? Even more if we're talking fair fight so even numbers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If the blasters have nukes then we're talking 32+, but assuming 40+ (for slotting as well) then the defenders have nukes too.

Alongside dark and radiation accuracy debuffs, damage, defence, resistance, speed and recharge debuffs, endurance drain, knockback powers and auras, group stealth, defence and resistance bubbles, unsuppressed travel with speed boost, inertial reduction and teleport, stacking leadership powers (which defenders get the best bang for their buck) *deep breath* etcetera, yeah, I really would fancy a group of 8 defenders' chances, even against 8 blasters.

But don't get me wrong, I wouldn't suggest for a second that it would be an automatic win. I just think in a PvP setting a mix of defenders would fair better than all of one primary in a greater number of situations, assuming equally skilled players at the controls.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
    100% Emp - Uhm. No

    [/ QUOTE ]

You seem to be underestimating empathy a little - remember every member of the team would have Fortitude, giving them impressive defence, accuracy and damage, plus the two auras would recharge sufficiently that you'd easily be able to run 2 simulataneously at all times, giving essentially unlimited endurance to spam attacks and nifty health regen on occasions attacks get through the defence from Fortitude (not even taking into account all the heals available if anyone does take a serious hit).

32+ everyone would have AB too, giving cumulative health regen that would make a regen scrapper envious (admittedly lacking the high hitpoints tho). On top of that you have good status protection and +perception from clear mind.

Empathy would stack better than you seem to be giving credit for.

    [ QUOTE ]
100% Sonics, Could work. Still the res cap is only 75% and you cant heal.

    [/ QUOTE ]

4 sonics and 4 forcefields would work together nicely if we're stretching to 2. Even without the individual bubbles you'd have impressive defence, resistance and status protection from the big bubbles.

But yes, a team of mixed defenders is a force to be reckoned with at low levels - at high levels they could become quite unstoppable, able to plug pretty much any defensive hole you could think of whilst simultaneously reducing the enemy to nothing.
  24. Expeditor

    Team Synergi!

Well I used my free respec and kitted myself out with SOs. I've shifted from being largely single target damage to concentrating on my 2 AoEs and my siphons (such a shame siphon speed isn't AoE like siphon power! And that it doesn't give an endurance recovery boost ).

I also picked up grant invisibility as my lvl 22 power - I didn't have anything of note to pick up, and I figured it'd be useful more than one of us having it. I figured vengeance wouldn't be of as much use - we just don't die that often. That said, I don't have anything of note to pick up at 24 either. I might get Repel for if we visit PvP zones or somesuch.

So what's the plan for next week? Carry on in Striga so that the last of us can get to 22? We'd likely get so far as the elite boss, altho given how AVs hold out, I don't think he'll pose much of a challenge.
