  1. Well I crashed out as we left the mission, and by the time I got back you were both offline, so I'm guessing you crashed too? Snakes obviously sabotaged us, being as we were giving them such a mighty kicking.
  2. Just a reminder to any and all that we'll be meeting at 7pm tonight at that Mongoose fella.
  3. To my awareness, life drain offers less healing, costs more endurance, has a longer recharge, doesn't offer the damage debuff and has an inferior accuracy debuff to Twilight Grasp from the Dark Miasma set. Twilight Grasp is also AoE. Of course if you don't have Dark Miasma as a secondary, this isn't much help to you, but all in all, it is just an inferior power, in every conceivable way, to another. Can you say 'balance'?
  4. Happy birthday Doulos. So has anyone put up balloons at the Rangers base?

    Team Synergi!

It's all good. And yeah, the herdng could definitely have worked with a little planning and forethought - but I think the whole point of it was the distinct lack of those properties And I actually managed to survive and speed away to safety after everyone dropped - thankfully my heal was actually hitting quite reliably last night! Sadly kinetics has nothing in the way of resurrection. Oh, and in case anybody missed it, I got Tactics

So what level is everybody at now?

I was thinking we could start on Posi in the next week or two, although I'd like to hold out until everybody can attend, and then hopefully have everybody attend for the finish as well.
  6. I just thought I would put the word out that the all-defender team will have a spot open tonight if a RadRanger fancies filling in? We'll be meeting at 7 at the Hollows entrance if anyone should happen to be interested.

    Team Synergi!

I don't suppose you'd have tp friend would you Tufty?

Well as for us mere mortals who went back to Atlas et al, meet at Hollows entrance?

I was thinking we could possibly draft Rad Rangers in to fill in for people who can't attend for one reason or another? Larac has said he can't make it this week. We'll keep Bubble's place free being as he's just going to be late, so that's one spot open this week. I'll put the word out - that is to say I'll post on the RadRangers thread.

    See you all at 7
  8. It occurred to me that perhaps instead of having an all-blaster alt group (the alt rangers) perhaps just have a single group for alts of all shapes, sizes and ATs?

After all, your main blaster, scrapper or whatever will be in the proper group, but then any secondary blasters, scrappers et al would be in the alt group, giving them access to the coalition for teams, chat etcetera.

Of course this has the down side of having a whole supergroup of characters that aren't going to be played often, but then the base thing probably wouldn't be important to that group for that reason.

And if that alt should become your main for whatever AT, simply swap him in to the appropriate group for your previous main of that AT if you had one.

    Just a thought anyway.
  9. Given that we're hardly lacking spaces, I really don't think it'd be a problem if sometimes you showed up and sometimes you didn't

But yeah, I figured it's just a nice little time slot for those with 'other responsibilities' and whatnot - time between finishing work and kickoff, and time between the end and bed time.
  10. That would only account for 120 characters at most - I'm sure there's at least 30 of us

EDIT: I suppose I wasn't considering multiple accounts - my god, maybe it's just one person with lots of board names??? I might not even be real! This totally sucks!
  11. Well yeah, I meant ask for more supergroup slots, not the coalition coalition thing! My bad. As punishment for my ineptitude, I'm going to eat a sandwich. Which is rather fortunate really, because I'm quite hungry.
  12. Pity there wasn't some kind of coalition coalition - then there could be a 'main' coaltion and an alts coalition!

Maybe if we got every member of the coalition to send a message (okay signing a single petition would probably be preferred by the receiving parties, but you get the idea) to Statesman and co? More space is needed! The people have spoken! Ooh, with the new banner protest emote thing, we could all gather under Atlas and send a screenshot as well
  13. Darnit, my (admittedly entirely unlevelled) radiation defender is on Defiant, for reasons slightly beyond the fact that I have zero space on Union.

Who to delete, who to delete... I'll maybe move my Mastermind to Defiant - I need to give him a new costume anyway, as the one he has (a suit) annoys the hell out of me because of all the clipping.

So have you got room for one more?

    Midnight Grasp

I've never been terribly fond of it myself - it does do more damage than Shadow Maul (to a single target), but because a substantial part of it is damage over time it just doesn't work as well.

Personally I use smite, shadow maul and air superiority mostly. Oh and siphon life as well now - rejiggered my build somewhat in the hopes of mustering more interest - Ilservian had been sitting at lvl 35 for a good couple of months until recently!

All in all I'd say it's a skippable power if you have something else you'd rather get.
  15. You're gong to have to wait I'm afraid - Dark Servant is the very last power to become available to you, at level 38!
  16. ? Not sure exactly what you're referring to, but I did look for you at 7 on Wednesday, again at about 20 past when the doc showed up and then again at about 8. You're more than welcome along captain - the more the merrier and all that!
  17. I recently respecced to include whirlwind myself, in part to try to muster some more interest in my otherwise retired scrapper.

Whilst I would question its usefulness while soloing, as you wouldn't generally be facing sufficient enemies to warrant its use, it is certainly useful in teams as an opener - run through the enemy, throwing them up in the air, whilst your teammates start laying into the mob. By the time you're almost out of enduance, the enemy mob is reduced in size and much less of a threat to anyone. I suppose dark melee has the advantage here that Dark Consumption can then bring you pretty much back to full endurance so you can help mop up the rest of the group.

Oh, and it can be used with fly as well - just remember to start whirlwind first, otherwise the animation doesn't start!

It’s gonna be a bumpy night! Harvey heard the first explosion over an hour ago. Alarms have been blaring almost as long. The explosions, the ruckus of inmates, security and... military? They were all getting closer. Finally the door at the end of the corridor blasted open. The guards were quickly neutralised by the invading forces.

When Harvey’s door was opened and he was led into the corridor, he saw all the other prisoners, each with an identical containment suit. As one tried to tear the suit off himself, the soldier closest clubbed him with the butt of his rifle. He motioned for a subordinate to carry the unconscious form out. Before he knew it, Harvey was aboard some kind of hi-tech plane, in the air, heading to “Mercy Island. Arachnos could use people like you.”

In no time at all, they’d reached their destination, a fortified facility on Mercy Island. The inmates were split up and taken to a waiting room. Those that could control their powers, only emitting radiation when and how they chose, were provided clothing, and were even offered a costume tailored to their personal tastes. Harvey couldn’t. “I thought the process was finished. The Professor had made notes about some final tests, but it was essentially done. Perfected. I guess not.”
“Evidently.” The scientist was cold, uncaring. “This way.”
Those that couldn’t effectively control their powers were subjected to further tests, and consulted over the construction of a containment suit. The resources being provided were not without cost, these Arachnos types made it very plain that Harvey was indebted to them, and failure to live up to their expectations would be... ill-advised.
After a couple of nights staying in a room not unlike the cell he occupied in the Zigg, Harvey’s containment suit was ready, built to his design. Light but durable armour, sophisticated electronics, air filters – the works. Beautiful. Hello Mercy Island.
Harvey walked out of the facility to see his fate. Would they come to know his name? Harvey? No, that’s not right; how about ‘The Transcendent’?
  19. 4 levels and 2 new powers later, and here we are again. Tragically it was but myself and the good Doctor, but we still robbed most heartily!

Well if any of our more radioactive brethren care to join us next week, we'd be looking for */radiation corrupters, lvls 4-8 - meeting at Mongoose on Mercy Island, at 7pm on Wednesday of course. Use of Accelerated Metabolism is preferred!

    Until next week folks.

    ((part 2))

    I. Am. Power! The shattered remains of a brilliant scientist on the pavement is just the sort of thing you need to attract the attention of the police. This wasn’t something Harvey knew from prior experience, but it was a pretty fair assumption.

The police surrounded the research facility. Irrelevant. Harvey made his grand entrance, rising up from the facility, a bright green haze surrounding and permeating his body. He looked down on the police below and smiled. A self-satisfied smile. A malicious smile. They barked orders at him. He ignored them, smelling the air, tainted by his own aura. Glorious! A beam of energy projected from his hand towards the officer barking at him through a megaphone. Watching him and those near him flee warmed his heart. But then it all went wrong. A streak of ice crushed into his chest from above, sending him hurtling towards the ground. Although he regained his composure quickly enough to slow his descent and begin a horizontal momentum, he couldn’t avoid crashing into the ground. After rolling onto his back, he saw his assailant, a machine? Armour most likely. His attacker was promptly joined in the air by a blonde woman wearing a gayly coloured outfit. Heroes... As Harvey shook off his concussion and rose to his feet, it occurred to him that three others had teleported nearby. Looking around, they’d already surrounded him. Looking back at the blonde woman, he recognised her as Paragon Titan.
“Stand down, sir. We can help you.” Titan.
“Help me?! I don’t need your help! I don’t want your help! I’ve transcended the human condition, I am a God!” Nuclear energy poured explosively from Harvey’s body, forcing the heroes away.
“I’m sorry sir.” He looked up to see Paragon Titan clench her fist. Her face looked as expressionless as anything he’d ever seen at a poker table, and then she descended rapidly, her fist glowing ever-brighter, she arced to level up with the ground and cracked the unfortunate Harvey across the face with a blow that could only be described as half-hearted. He crumpled to the ground several yards down the road.

Young Harvey woke up inside some form of containment suit. Looking around, he was being held in some kind of radiation-shielded room. Looking out of the small window on his door, the prison guards were also wearing containment suits. All this for me? How long have I been unconscious? Of course it wasn’t just for him. It was a section of the Ziggurat dedicated to the containment of radiation-wielding inmates.
“Get comfortable son – you’re going to be here for a loooong time.” The containment suit obscured the guards face, but Harvey was sure the man was smirking.

    ((Part 1))

    “I’ll see you tomorrow Harv.”
Tragically, I suppose you will. “Good night Professor – have a safe journey.”

The Professor stopped at the door and looked back at his assistant. “Are you sure you’ll be okay locking up tonight?”
Why no, how could a mere assistant possibly accomplish the insurmountable task of locking doors and activating alarms? Why it would take some kind of genius professor to accomplish such a feat! “Don’t worry Professor, I’ll be fine.”

The Professor smiled kindly. The assistant smiled back, but it couldn’t really be described as a kind smile; it was more of a smirk really. He looked beyond the Professor towards the exit, as if trying to will the man out the door. “Good night Harv.”

Even after the Professor had left, Harvey stood motionless, watching the laboratory door until he heard the outer doors shut. Even then he stayed motionless for a minute or two as he cleared his thoughts. He proceeded into an adjoined lab, and then to a secure door, complete with card slot and numeric keypad. Harvey calmly produced a plain white card and inserted it into the machine, before tapping in an eight-digit code. The lock clicked open. Harvey sighed, before opening the door and entering the lab beyond.

The computer was on. It was always on – churning out results, doing the Professors secret work. Harvey observed the display, its light ominously illuminating the man’s face. Soon. He’s come so far, so quickly – he really is something special. He chuckled to himself as he thought of the costume designs he’d seen on a previous visit, and the names – the ridiculous and meticulous research, the notes and cross-references. My dear Professor – so you want to save the world? Such heroic nonsense.

    Team Synergi!

Well it also has the advantage of slowing the target, which with speed boost on, might be rather appreciated
  23. I confess I wasn't terribly fussed with creating a group - the defender team all just signed up with the SNHS, although I never insisted. We're all on each others friendlists, so it didn't really matter.

But hey, if you want a group, by all means make one. Could even make it an all-radiation group for radioactive villains everywhere to get together without poisoning each other and dieing off Could just imagine the base defences - if anyone enters the base they just die from from radiation poisoning. Who needs turrets anyway?

    Team Synergi!

Apparently Increased Density will soon be offering protection from teleport foe, so I'll have to squeeze that into my build somewhere if we ever go PvP. It's also about the only defender buff to offer protection to knockback.

Only downside is it has a ridiculously low duration - bad enough trying to keep up with speed boost! I gather both have half the duration of shields
