  1. No worries, props for putting work before gaming Good luck
  2. If any of you want a nuke for the trial, I'll be in-game for a couple of hours leading up to the trial and can lead you through it if you haven't done it before yourself
  3. Just a reminder that this is still going on tomorrow, meeting at midday at the bottom-left store marker (Penny Preston) in Founders Fall. See you then folks

    Team Synergi!

The Cavern of Transcendence is up to lvl 14, so Psychic should get xp through the whole thing (whilst the rest of us wouldn't - bridging the gap a little) - if nothing else there's the GM in there for us to tear apart Oh, and a shiny badge of course!

It does require exactly 8 people however, so if there are any absenses we'll have to find reliable subs.

Other possibilities include working up to the Dr Vazh story arc - any of the following contacts will give the arc:
Dr. Ann-Marie Engles(skyway city), Juliana Nehring(skyway city), Olivia Chung(steel canyon), Pavel Garnier(skyway city)

    Any preferences folks?
  5. Well that was quick Tufty

Now the nuke is about as good an idea as I've heard in a long while! Keep meaning to get me another one of those - will have to make sure I have one for Sunday
  6. Anyone over lvl 41 can't get weapons, unless they're exemped to 41 or below at the time of clicking the glowy (they can still use the weapons if they subsequently unexemp) - so don't worry about that!

I do see kinetics as being very handy for keeping everything moving - might have to be careful with the use of speed boost before we reach the bottom however, as we don't want to be falling off the ledges into hostile territory! The heal is first rate however, leastways for us melee types!

@Tufty, no prob, just let me know either way.

    Bubbles/Rad Plan

If you were going for a pure support build, and wanted to keep the fitness, leadership and medicine pools, and have grant invis, I'd perhaps go so far as to suggest an illusion/ff controller - altho the defence values would generally be slightly lower across the board, you'd get in recompense group invis (allowing you to grant invis, take the three pools above and actually have a travel power as well!), phantom army, single target hold and confuse powers, spectral terror and phantasm.

In fact until phantasm turned up, and to a degree even after, you could pretty much completely remove your ability to solo!

    Just a thought is all

With regards to the plan you have, did you specifically want fly? Recall friend is often considered the territory of support characters, and teleport can be a real nice travel power with a few slots and a little practice. Recall friend would also be handy for using the medicine pool rez power.

Elsewise, seems a pretty good plan - adding the medicine pool was an excellent touch for making a support character

Have fun with it, however it ends up!
  8. I think both servers get a lot of [censored] in Atlas - Galaxy, whilst still bad, is typically a lot better. As people have said, once you're up to about lvl 5 or 6 and leave for Kings Row and/or the Hollows, it should be pretty clear sailing.

The persistant supergroup invites are pretty new, I only really started to see them with any regularity since CoV came about, and isn't actually as prolific as it seems to be in CoV. It would be nice to have an option to ignore all SG invites so that you can just set it to allow invites through after you've decided to join a SG that you've been speaking to someone about.

Thinking about it, it'd be rather nice if team invites only got through if you aren't set to "Not looking for team".

But yeah, I think every game has its quirks and its bad players, but all in all CoH seems to have a great community to it.

    5. Battery Hen - lvl 38 Emp/Elec Defender
    6. Mongoose - lvl 38 Claws/Regen Scrapper
    7. 19 - lvl 50 kin/psi Defender
    8. MBar - lvl 50 Invuln/En Tank

Good to have you on board MBar, I was secretly praying you'd sign up for this Good tanks are so hard to come by in the late game it seems!

As for the tentacles, that is what the plasma cannons are for, and hence partially where we went wrong last time - taking them out at range would save aggroing the head on the most part.

It might also be worth your sticking to Tufty like glue being as her shadow fall stealth thing is about the only psi protection you're going to get

If anyone would care to put their names down as reserves, feel free to put a post up and I'll give you a /tell if we find ourselves short and you're about.

    Team Synergi!

Hey hey, just came on to ask what's occurring and, as ever, I was beaten to it! I'll be there, 7pm sharp, at Synapse, just in case

As for meeting (I always seem to forget this part!), we'll meet at Penny Preston in Founders Fall - she is marked on the map as the lower left hand store marker (she's the Mutant SO enhancement contact). The trial contact is just a few feet away from her.
  12. Yeah, we just ran out of time at the end of the day. Don't worry, we didn't jump straight down to the bottom, dragging a dozen krakens with us and then commenced Irish line dancing on the Hydra's head Although it was tempting - maybe after I have the badge
  13. Thanks for the tip I was considering it as a possibility myself - I've even looked up the site and downloaded the program (I do that a lot - I don't even know what half the things on my hard disk are)

May give it some more consideration - would certainly be handy as I'm a relatively slow and habitually verbose typer, so I tend not to speak much while things are happening.
  14. Good man

  15. Todays run was less successful than I planned. That is to say it wasn't successful. That being said, an experience is only wasted if you fail to learn anything by it.

As such I would like to arrange another run next Sunday, 22nd January. I would be looking at a 12pm / midday (GMT) start time, a little later than last time so everyone can have a lay in The trial is relatively short, so you would only need to put aside 2 hours.

There are a handful of caveats I would like to outline however:

We will be running this at least relatively within the level bounds the trial is aimed at (38-41). I say relatively because I would most likely be lvl 42 by that point, although I will merrily exemplar if the team setup supports it. To that end, we would require at least 3 people in the 38-41 range, preferably 4, of which at least one must be in the 38-40 range to start the trial. Besides those 3, the level range is otherwise 36-50, with exemps or sidekicks where appropriate and/or possible.

It is perhaps important to note that because I'm looking to keep within the aforementioned level bounds that debt and/or failure remain distinct possibilities - this is being run as an experience, conquering what proved to be an impressively challenging trial - l33t xp is, shall we say, unlikely.

There is an exploration badge that is not difficult to get regardless of success in the mission (next to the Hydra's head), as well as the badge for completing the mission.

For those under lvl 42 (as in up to lvl 41), you should also get a double attribute enhancement if we succeed.

I would hope to get a full team of 8 together, and those in todays team are more than welcome if they wish to try again - they all did a remarkable job and I have every confidence in each of them.

I would also like to be a little more organised about team structure, so if you'd like to attend, give your character's name, level, AT and powersets (for planning and plotting purposes) and I'll add you to the list. If you realise you are not going to be able to make it after you've signed up, please let me know.

  16. Rikti slaying has begun - send a /tell to Ilservian or Lord Phil if you want an invite from this point on
  17. And for those of you who don't know who Penny Preston is (I didn't), she can be found at the store marker near the bottom left of Founders Fall (she's the mutant SO enhancements contact)
  18. We'll meet at the contact, Maren MacGregor, in Founders Falls (N from Penny Preston & standing under a tree according to the guide), at 11am (GMT).

    See you then folks
  19. Yeah I haven't read the guide, I just posted it for other peoples convenience. I'm looking forward to it, I've heard a lot of people say it's one of their favourite TFs.
  20. Hi all, my now lvl 29 blaster has just unlocked the Hess TF, and having never done this TF before I rather fancied giving it a go.

So we'll say 7pm this evening at the man Hess himself. If you have any difficulty getting to him, either /tell me on Paragon Prime or give me a shout over broadcast in Striga at 7pm.

Level range is 25-30, altho higher levels will be automatically exemped.

  21. I'd suggest an illusion controller may suit you and your situation. Energy blasters have a lot of knockback going on - immobilisation and sleep powers don't tend to work so well with these, and illusion doesn't really bother with either.

You will have a single target hold, an early point blank group hold, confusion (fantastic power), a nice high damage power for getting more involved in damage dealing, superior and/or group invisibility, an early pet - phantom army, which will help keep aggro off you and your blaster friend and commit a little damage, and then finally a fear-inducing pet followed by your main pet, the phantasm.

As a secondary, I would perhaps suggest kinetics, especially if your blaster friend is going to be utilising the attacks from his secondary (referred to as 'blapping'). You would have a very powerful group heal that centres on a targetted enemy, a damage buff (and foe debuff), a self speed/recharge buff (and foe debuff), increase density (giving your blaster friend mez protection to all except sleep powers), speed boost (one of the most popular buff powers in the game, essentially perma-hasten and stamina in one power!), transference (works similar to the heal, you'll never want for endurance again after you have this power) and finally fulcrum shift, again very nice if your friend gets into blapping, although it works best in large groups rather than duos.

Illusion/kinetics would provide for a very active playstyle.

There are plenty of other combinations that would probably work well with an en/en blaster, but this seems like a good choice based on what you said in your post.
  22. Well I made the uAAA channel, just for larks, but I can just as easily be caught on coalition chat by most of you.

I've put Ilservian on hold until the sewer trial on Sunday, but after that I'll be pressing on to 50, so there should be plenty of archvillains to look forward to.

I'll also be looking to do the Shadow Shards TFs if I can muster the interest. As ever I'll make a forum post with the details once I've thought it out.
  23. Sadly I've been busy all day until now - what am I missing?

Might have to arrange a Hess run some time (tho I'll have to finish the story arc first of course) as I still haven't done that TF.
