demons/dark is good i hear. so isthe standard fare of bots/ff.

I had very good times with bots/traps, ninja/time, and thugs/ff.

But there is also word that any of the combination of those sets will do well.

    Also

When is the point on your level 50 where you sit back and go.."I've done all I can possibly do to make this guy the best that I can." ?
The point of tha varies with my characters and depending on their storyline. Some of their stroylines end when they reach 50, some go beyond until all upper level content is done before they go on ice. How much investment I put into them is usually decided by their storyline by level 30 or so. At that point, some will be done at level 50 and thus wont have much investment and some will go a little bit beyond and might get a bit mroe investment if needed. And some go as is until there is nothing left to conquor in the 50 range for that character. The ones that has been 50 before and not active usually dont get anymore investment as they already made it. And usually after a long break, a new one is made that may go up and beyond.

So yes..in that regard..the average builds ARE a bit less common, on here. And as Klaw said, it can be misleading for a newer player to see that and think a set needs it all to be any good.
That is what I was saying.

    Earth/Fire Dom

What are some common ways people slot a SO earth/Fire Dom made for solo play? What powers are usually skipped and what powers usually stay?

And especially what is the best way to slot that animated stone?
  6. I dont think so but if that is how you feel then, that is ok. Different perceptions in different eyes. It's only natural.

Or..to turn it around on you..I want you to link me to a super dooper high end tricked out max shinies performance comparison on say..Pain dom on corrs vs TA.
Can you do that, right away? No? Then WHY should I be able to meet your task?

Maybe that comes off a bit rude, but it still applies. As to what keywords I used..I didnt, I hate the search function. If I wanted to make a new toon, say a dark armour or fire armour scrapper, and WANTED some advice for an average build..I would do that super crazy thing..and make a new thread. Maybe that is technically rehashing old info and threads, but the amount of time I could take making the thread (and getting it up on the new post list where people see it, now) compared to the time taken wrestling with teh search engine? I'll make my new thread.

I'm not talking about creating posts about it. Anyone can do that but the question is, do they? You say they already exist. I was just asking what keywords you use to find them. You dont use the search function ok.
Not sure why so much focus on the example. It was only an example but any two sets, even the two you mentioned could of fullfilled the example. I wasnt expecting you to do an on the spot comparison of those sets on average basis. Even if it's some other two sets. Just asking that you point me in the direction of the posts you speak of. Now when the shoe is on the other foot in past posts, by now you'd be jumping down my throat about posting evidence before ridiculing it as untrue and as a proven point that your point is right. Me, I'm not like that even though you cannot post evidence like you always expect me to do in my posts. I'm not saying those posts dont exist, and saying thier isnt one but as you said in the first couple of sentence is the first thing I was saying. There doesnt seem to be many. Just figured that you knew where some was. If you dont that is ok with me, even though you would of reacted and have reacted lot different when it ws percieved that I couldnt produce evidence.
I'll continue searching but so far my point still stands as tha tI havent seen many that compare builds on an average level. Even with the post where people post their builds I have yet to find one that didnt involve fully slotted IOs in every power. Now not saying they dont exist, again, just in case it was missed the first time, but I havent just found one yet. If there was as many as the IO build postings I figured I would of came across one by now, thus leading me to beleive there isnt many.

And another thing, there was no demand. And you got on my case when you percieved me jumping to conclusions about people posts and even gone as far as to say I look for stuff that isnt there. Now the irony. You're looking for a demand where there isnt any.
Now many now you understand now where I have been coming from in the past seeing you did the exact same things you got on my case and ridiculed me about in the past.

Clearly the first and last are outliers. What is the point even mentioning the last..given how many people might use it?
A friend of mine asked for a build for her elec/shield scrapper. I have seen MANY builds for those on the forums, usually maxed out and expensive. I came up with a build using the cheaper IO sets, for..50 mil I think it was, and she said it was great. It took me a whole..oh, 5 mins?
Also, I have seen a huge number of threads, where the OP simply ASKS for a non maxed build. And low and behold..people supply builds that wont cost the earth.
Can you point me in the direction of a post comparison of average, between something like say, fire armor vs dark armor?

I've seen many post of comparison but what I mostly see within a post or two is a posting of a min/maxed build and or comparison of the two when maxed out. I havent seen many postings of comparison when people post builds of performance with SOs. Most I seen is one that is fully IOed and and talk about switching those IOs for even better IOs to max this or hit cap on that and etc. Not saying they exist but it's not common and pretty hard to find. What key words do you use to find these types of posts easily? I may not be using the proper keywords to look for comparison on the average level.

And it's not the forms. They're useful, and they're fun, and trying to figure out when to switch between them is a neat addition, but that's not what makes Staff Mastery so cool.

It's the sound. The thunky-clunking kinda wood sound the staffs make when you beat the tar out of someone in a fight. I can't really explain it, but that sound is ADDICTIVE. I hear it once and I immediately start mashing buttons to try to get that sound again... and again... and again... and again...

  10. i dont mind citadel tf at all. I dont find it not much different then getting on a newspaper mish team that does council after council mish. It's good xp that is for sure. Unlike doing a series of council paper mishes, there is a good completion bonus and it goes towards a useful accolade. And also some merits, if a person is into that. Synapse o nthe other hand is like a gaggle of mission thrown together just for the mere purpose of extending the TF, especially the run back and forth to Posi and the patrol thing that without could eliminate two or three missions right there. Then second to last mish, the hatrdest thing in the TF is defeated which kinds of feel like it should be the end of the TF but then one more mish for the C.Work King which is so easy after babbage that it dont even like an ending of a tf more like a last minute added on mission that has been added on there because it could be added.
I find Dr. Q an enjoyable TF but it's long as heck and lot of traveling. I think there could be some missions that could be trimmed from it and discarded as useless fat but good TF over all. Just find it sad I dont see it run as often though. Most teams I've been on got it down to a length that is not much longer than a synapse or old positron tf but lot more to gain, especially if merits is a goal.

Why is it that when people compare powersets in the game and judge their relative effectiveness that they always use sets that are the outliers and not the averages to compare?

For example, people almost always compare the damage buff from Stacked Rage or from Fulcrum Shift when judging how well a set compares. People use the debuffs in Radiation Emission to judge the effectiveness of debuffs in general. The debuffs from Rad are especially effective vs. hard targets (think AVs, GMs, etc.) but based solely on their numbers it is not so exceptional. On the low end think of how people compare to sets that are seen as underperforming. Is Beast Mastery really so bad? When you compare them to Bots maybe, but when you look at them compared to Mercs or Ninjas they aren't so bad.

I think we need to change how we look at the powers in this game. When you compare between sets we should use the middle to judge not the high or low end. When you judge everything from the outliers, those which are OP/UP will skew the perceptions of the readers and make it difficult for them to accept other positions.
basically. It's even hard to find good information about particular builds without the mass of min/maxed builds, if middle ground comparison posts actually exist.
  12. I think with the crash of rage, SS is good and rage is balanced. If they removed the crash, as stated abve of course adjustments should be made.
Even if a person manage to stack it, it's not without it's catch. One, Rage still crashes and for ten seconds, there is not much damage that can be done and not to mention the end loss. And when you stack it, that is ten seconds that render the stack useless, and meaning that another crach will come sooner. Constantly stacking will still end up with crashing more often instead of the usual every two minutes. and if for example a person is able to stack it the last 30 seconds fo the first one, that damage buff is good then. Then 30 seconds later for 10 seconds still unable to deal damage. At this point that 40 seconds the second rage is up. leaving about 1 min 20 secs before another crash. and lot more often the faster the stacks happen. Or if a person is able to stack it every minute, after the original single rage 2 minute crash, then they will suffer a ten second crash every minute or about 50 seconds worth of use between crashes.

But I think that nerfing it is a terrible idea. People are very attached to kinetics, it would create a lot of ill will among the players if this beloved power was reduced in effectiveness.
So don't reduce it. Instead, share the wealth. If a kinetics character is on a team, allow for a chance of a kinetic enemy in every enemy group, similar to spawning void seekers and crystals when a kheldian is present. How's that for dramatic tension? Any given combat you could be on the receiving end of fulcrum shifted damage! Wouldn't that be exciting?
While we're at it, I think other sets could benefit from similar treatment. How about some super strength/fire enemies? Better be careful going toe-to-toe with these guys. Enemy electric or kinetic stalkers? As long as kinetic combat is bugged crit-wise, let's keep it interesting. So many fun possibilities.
I can imagine seeing this message in the LFG channel:
Level 50 team LF5M. No kinetics!

    Just a thought. :-)

    Sensaround
    Interesting concept.
I think some tsoo people that use kinetics could do with some fulcrim shift. Then, teams would jusrt avoid tsoo in my idea. But with your ideas, there is not much way to avoid it (with a kin on the team) since it's random. and not matter on the mob at hand. That would very interesting if it was someway impletemented.
And the crit-melee bug, the bug that many people love and dont mind if they take thier time fixin it. But when the tables are turned, and the mob start using this bug, would there be an outcry to fix it quick? probably. But would be interesting to see nonetheless with mobs that also have crit bugged kin melee.
this idea good concept, not nerf monger thread, just a different creative way to rebalance.

My perception is always wrong but the other person is always right ,even when it comes to my own actions. But when I percieve their actions as wrong, oh hell, it's the reactio nas if I murdered someone and and bathed in their blood. Double standard. Everytime I talk about what works for me, I'm wrong, as if I dont know what works for me. But when I say their wrong for saying I dont know what works for me, I'm the one with a chip on my shoulder. Double standard again. And it goes on and and on. I just cant sit here and take it any longer and just let it ride, but I'm wrong again!. Yet, they cant be wrong because they are Jesus Christ incarnate and cant let my spelling/grammar mistakes go but I'm wrong for pointing it out that they dont do it to other posts. I see what this is, no matter what I do I'm wrong and they are right. I'm suppose to just sit here and be disrespected and act like I have no self worth and let people talk to me anykind of way. Well tis is one of those situations where I dont care if one person disagree or the entire population of COX disagree. I'm not giving up my self worth and kissing everyone behind even when they disrespect me. That is akin to someone kickign me in the face then getting pissed because I didnt thank them for it. That's how I am, how I will be and I aint changing that. So people pick fights with me, I aint goign to thank them for it and shirk away. See where that got me. Here and nothign to show for it besides people thinking think they can just come out of the blue and do it for no reason at all, and then turn around and treat everyoen else wit hthe upmost respect even when correcting them. But not me. Guess they view me so far below the human species below a dog even tha tI dont even deserve that simple basic respect. And then they have the audacity to think something is wrong with me when I address it? Get the flip out of here with that nonsense as I aint goign to just let it fly any longer.

Well for some people I have seen even heightened senses aint save them. Sometimes it also depends on the player. Like I said, many people probably will stack up debt with this method. And then there are many that wont. Just like there are many dark armors that are beasts in the right hands and even before the issues where all the fancy IOs was available they still was beasting. Then someone else take that same build and end up deleting the build because they cant get it past 21.

Let me point this out. How is these people been helpful at all? The same ones that try to force me twist my arm to download a program I dont want to download? When I say I'm not comfortable with it, they act offended and start being rude. How is it helpful that people ask for proof of what I'm talking about they still ridicule it and call it impossible? How is it helpful to totally dismiss and basically say my opinion and my experience is way below what their opinions are? How is it helpful when people tell me I didnt go through something when I did as if they are in my head? Explain to me how that is helpful at all and not pure rudeness or disrespect. If that is help I dont want your help, or anyone with help like that. That is not genuine help at all. And I'm the one acting like a chip on my shoulder? And the root isnt my perception and attitude it's that I l;et that crap so much that people think they can just do it and act victim when I say something about it. Guess what call it what ever you want it, but I aint changing. So help in this way by not helping me if you cant be respectful, cant stop putting my opinions down, cant stop trying to force me to download programs, and putting in help where I didnt even ask for any in the first place. So help in that manner or not at all or else I will continue to address the disrespect and nonhelpful posts.

For those that have helped truely, thanks. And you aint one of them at all, because you aint did nothing but give me crap so damn right I threw it right back at you. Funny people cant take a hint and maybe they should stop "helping" then if they cant help in a correct proper respectful manner.
