  1. but THERES A WHOLE LOT OF GOOD IN THOSE LITTLE O's
  2. a bit confused:

from the FAQ for the architect edition:
"If you already registered this type of serial code to your existing account, you will not be able to register this serial code to that account. You can only apply one retail serial code of each type to one account.

WARNING: Please make sure you choose the correct Super Booster pack you wish to be applied to your account. Once you choose your item, the feature is permanently set to your account. You cannot go back and switch items if you mistakenly choose the wrong one."

so, does this mean you can only ever have ONE retail Booster per account or can you have BOTH cyborg and magic ?

does the above only apply when upgrading from the architect edition ?

I'm asking this because when I went to apply my magic booster code to my acocunt it would not give me the option of applying it to my active account that already has the cyborg pack applied. instead it showed me an inactive account that has been dormant for years.....
  3. well I bought it last night (took ages) but when I applied it I only had the option of one account name (same as my master account name) so I applied it... only to find out that this was the account I had when I was playing in the states before euro beta... of course, the euro beta account has the same name so I had to change account name for the european account after the transfer

logged a ticket in support but its weird that it only showed me one choice and that was an inactive account.

GC is getting less use these days. AP is the more popular destination.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's still used as a RP destination on Union. I still see a few people go there, sometimes I start my toons there as well.

There are many zones like Boomtown, Dark Astoria, Monster Island etc there are a wasteland, literally. Can't see anybody in there. Galaxy City is a different story compared to them...a place like Dark Astoria would be a much better place for a suggesion like this.

    So, /unsigned.

    [/ QUOTE ]

so, if it were another disused area other than galaxy it would be ok? so its not the idea that you dont like, its the location of the idea? fine. if thats the criticism, then what would be the benefits of the other areas ?

Dark Astoria is also a liked place but I have read calls to make is co-op. Boomtown, I quite like that idea if it was made more hospitable to lower levels. Monster Island, not really an urban crime environment, it might be good but I dont think it would have the same "sin city" feel about it.

They could put in a totally new zone. the only reason I suggested GC was because it doesnt get as much use as AP, heroes already have two starting zones while villains only get one.

Um...he's saying the devs have pointed out that a similar feature will be in DCUO, he never said anything about it being good or bad.

    [/ QUOTE ]

he said he didnt want CoX to be anything like DCUO. I assumed that this was from experience and not just a hatred of all things DC, such as a Beta or a demo. I havent played it so I cant make a call on this myself.

I'm sorry did I do something wrong?

You know maybe you should have put up on your original post that you only wanted positive feedback for this idea because you don't seem to like the current feedback.

    [/ QUOTE ]

no you havent done anything wrong. I just asked a question. you said it was beign done in DCUO and you didnt want CoX to be anything like DCUO so i assumed you have played a demo or an online beta or soemthign and have a reason for that. In all honesty, I dont like the look of DCUO myself but that doesnt mean everything about the game is wrong.

negative feedback is more than welcome. Sorry if you feel i shouldnt answer negative feedback and just say "ok then" if anyone disagrees. If there is negative feedback with a decent reason then I'm more than happy to take it on board and consider ways , if any, to overcome the shortcomings pointed out.

But...what's the point? Why are the heroes and villains working together in a co-op enviroment? What's happening in Galaxy City that is making villains want to come there too?

    [/ QUOTE ]

nope, you misread my original post. I said : co-op / grey... players could be in the same area but couldnt team together". they wouldnt be working together. they'd be in the same area but unable to co-operate. they could eitehr ignore each other (no pvp) or actively interact (pvp) as and whenever they feel like it (toggle)

sorry, possibly should have made that clearer.

    [ QUOTE ]

But you can be only lvl 1 in Outbreak...does that mean you have to start all over again in the Rogue Isles?

    [/ QUOTE ]

would it not be easier to make breakout level scalable ? or make an alternative breakout mission for the higher level ? really level 10 is a lot more powerful that level 1 but breakout could be instanced by level group (1-2, 3-4, etc) 5 version of the same map with same mobs. once you arrive at the rogue isles you skip the whole mercy island bit and move straight to the interesting stuff (my opinion)

    [ QUOTE ]
I never said they never arrested in Paragon City, and the example of a Hellion in my post > Hellions are in Paragon City too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

no, you never said it but, between the assertion that the Hero Corp HQ was in glaaxy and that the zig is where they put rogue isle prisoners it could be misconstrued to imply that paragon villians dont get sent there. But at the minute, if you get defeated by longbow in the rogue isles you go to a rogue isles hospital, you dont go to prison. (i'm talking about PLAYER bad guys, not joe hellion who's dad is an out of work plumber after the recession)

    my point would be:

there are villains in GC. we know this, we see them and we beat them up despite Hero Corp HQ being there. so why not give the opiton of "real" villains as well ?

GC is getting less use these days. AP is the more popular destination.

So, we make Mercy isle redside villains, Atlas Park Blueside heroics and Galaxy city a merge of the two.

three distinct choices for starting players. inside the Galaxy city area you can do heroic missions (recover artifact) villain missions (steal artifact) or PvP missions (get heroic dna for dr vazhilok , patrol and arrest 2 villains) BUT: a hero cannot do a villain mission, a villain cannot do a hero mission and pvp speaks for itself...

    any clearer ?
  8. have to agree. the trash talk and harrassment of WoW was what turned me off it first. I'd hate to see that in CoX.

full map merge would take more options away from players than it would give. as said by others, there are fewer pvp'ers.

however, a smaller scale zone or two. a full array of zones that span levels 1 to 50 to allow a pvp player go from level 1 all the way up playing in a pvp enabled environment.

at worst: the pvp trash talkers all go there
at best: we get a third flavour to play which is as different from blue and red as red is different from blue. (purple?) and not just a mishmash of the two (like co-op zones).

heroes get to be heroic while villains get to do nasty thigns and not jsut slightly less nice versions of what heroes do.

As a villain, I dont want to stop vazhilok, i want to help him 99% of the way and then steal the power for myself at the last second! even if that means raiding a morgue or defeating a hero to get a dna sample for a super zombie experiment.
  9. Evangel

    Galaxy City

ah, but you could still have low level villains doing low level villainous things.

yes the big scale hero-villain battles as lvl 50s eye each other up would happen. thats what the higher pvp zones are for but you get vazhilok and hellions up to level 5 or 6 in GC so why not villains up to 5 or 6 as well ?

a hero running through GC has to avoid enemies or fight. A villain running through GC would have to avoid police or fight... same thing.

Freedom Corp HQ being in galaxy makes no difference. by that logic there shouldnt be any "evildoers" in the area because Longbow would have them all arrested.

in my original post i said: make Galaxy city a low level co-op / grey area

the low level wasnt a random occurrance. I was thinking levels 1-10 or 1-8.. once you go above the limit you draw the attention of longbow and you start getting ambushed so its in your toons own best intersts to leave, of if defeated he ends up in the zig and has to do breakout anyway.

as for importing prisoners: fair enough, they imprison rogue isle prisoners in the zig but they would also jail paragon city lawbreakers there too. my suggestion was possibly too simplistic but yours makes it sound like the only prisoners come from the rogue isles and that no-one gets arrested in paragon city.

no need to apologise for disagreeing. debate = a good thing and imho its the best way to develope an idea beyond the initial though
  10. I'll admit that I dont like PvP. never did (gave it a go when it came out first but then left it alone).

however, i think toggle pvp flags would make CoX very interesting who wouldnt love to be levelling up at ms Liberty in atlas park and have two level 50s stagger past in a flash of light as they clobber each other into a stain on the pavement ?

What hero wouldnt like to undertake a patrol mission to arrest 10 villains and actually arrest 10 villains ?

villain does mission in hero side zone - gets a tag that says he's wanted. anyone on patrol at that time gets notified, villain has to make it to X spot to escape (heroes dont know that), heroes have to stop him/them.

I'd give it a go. not 100% sure i'd like it, but it would be different

add in info stats: arrest sheet / successful jobs
introduce badges (ooooh shineys! again, not that interesting to me).

I think ,instead of pvp? NO!!!!!!onety one one !!!! the game overall would be better served by actually giving an idea a chance and not just denying it exists. As pointed out by another poster, current PvP is a bit bland and flat, AT benefits and strengths would need to be showcased to make it interesting again (I dont know this myself so its secondhand info for me) so maybe the idea is a non-starter... bu tno harm in exploring the possibility or maybe even making a suggestion or two yourself.

    Galaxy City

it breaks the "lore of the game" ? what?

I thought the game was about you know, heroes arresting villains and villains tryign to avoid being arrested while they do nefarious things....

so, if anyhting , its actually closer to the core tenet of the game lore

involves PvP (no idea why you put the lol in there) : yes, some people (not me by the way) enjoy pvp. i'm not selfish enough to just consider what I want when I think about an idea, I do try to include others , even if I dont see the appeal in what they want. tbh, i couldnt care less about pvp but for those that do like it, a low level pvp enabled zone might be a nice draw it *might* actually enhance the game by giving them an added sense of danger or purpose as they go about the missions. perhaps a series of PvP specific missions could be devised that are only accessible or do-able with PvP toggled to on ?

out of curiosity: where do you think the rogues of the rogue isles come from? are they born in the zig ? the fact that the ziggurat is based in brickstown would suggest that the villains are arrested in paragon city (or do the paragon authorities import them?) and then, during breakout they escape to the rogue isles...

the galaxy idea, of something like it, would give the option of a non-zig based startup.

I used to love starting in galaxy city but its pretty much dead now, I was just tryign to think of a way to make use of it again

    Galaxy City

Galaxy city is pretty quiet... really it is.

so, I was thinking (yes, I know, i shouldnt but I couldnt help it this time)...

make Galaxy city a low level co-op / grey area. Co-op inso far as resources can be shared but no teaming.

villains can start here as well as heroes

villains get missions that involve robbing an artifact from a jewellers for the Hellions

Heroes get a mission that involves retrieving an artifact from the hellions

make the starting storylines intersect and have the appearance of being inter-dependant.

then, at the culmination of the villain arc, they have to leg it to the rogue isles and sign up with Lord recluse.

At the end of the hero arc they are recognised by Statesman as heroes and asked to help out in the Hollows or Kings Row

an idea for a place of interest as well (see? told you I was thinking!)

a galaxy entrance to the sewers: four different paths in, with multiple spawns. Hellions/ Lost will ignore villains while military/longbow will ignore heroes (or even act as allies if a fight gets too close to them). if a spawn gets defeated by a hero then a group of allies will spawn there next time, same if a spawn is defeated by villains.

not completely thought through, more of an idea than an actual suggestion. just thought I'd post it before I forgot

another idea would be a test-bed for open world flag based PvP.. you have to toggle PvP on to be able to target or damage a member of the opposing side. toggling is accompanied by a beeping noise and a countdown from 10 or 25 or whatever so there's no sneaky getting into position , toggling on and hitting from a vantage point. Once toggled, you have to stay out of PvP for 10 minutes to have the toggle reset to "off".
  13. All players in the tema should get all mission related text imho

including the Arc intro text, the mission brief and the mission accepted text.

With the possibility of non-canon material you could well end up with only the leader knowing whats happening and the rest not "getting" the point resulting in lower ratings from the team members..

i know it would mean each perosn having to click "ok" to get rid of the window but the game already has a load of clicks involved, whats one or two more?

not much anyone can do without the link so we can test it for ourselves.
  16. I argued this on teh beta forums as well but it never seemed to take off.

8 people play a MA arc. only the leader gets to read the intro and finishing text.

no matter how much story you tell within the mission it will always be enhanced by the blurb. takes no tiem to skip it if you dont want to read it. could make the difference between 1 4star + 7 3 star votes and 8 4 star votes.

  19. well, melvin is lvl 43 so as i said earlier, if you're interested in toons less than level 50 I'll make the effort to get him to at least 45 in time for the raid (bots/ff mastermind with rez and recall)
  20. Redside, i've found teams few and far between. great fun when you get one but hard to even start up yourself.

apart from that, I find the first 10 to 12 levels of redside to be incredibly monotonous... i've tried missions from both starting contacts (snakes! snakes and more snakes!) and I've tried street hunting. I've started every AT redisde but just cant bring myself to play more than the first run and then I just dont log back into them. My 43 MM is only that level because a: he started when redside seemed more populated and b: hes a MM so solo-ing is pretty easy

thankfully blue side keeps my alt-itis sated... except for Warshades and Peacebringers.. I have the same problem keepign intersted in them but I still create and play other alt ATs blueside.. maybe its something in the water ?

  22. Absolutely agree with having a warning label. I have toons that cant take on an EB by themselves and toons that can handle an AV (with some difficulty) and running through a mission arc, really enjoying it and then running smack bang into an unexpected AV that faceplants me repeatedly and in effects negates any fun I've had up to then...

While a code might make labelling faster, it wont necessarily make things easier. People who dont read the forums will have to work out the code themselves.

    something fishy

    expensive instant chat client though

depends how long they were there, but the names are obviously spur of the moment type of names you see spambots use to sign up to internet forums (i've seen many many spam accounts) and the fact that the AT was Brute (first choice on the list) + the costume was default leads me to think that the characters were created by a bot of some description. it would be interestign to see the powersets and the power choice, also if there is a link to a website in the character description

of course they could be real players. But the description given points to an increased possibility of being bots or spam accounts. I never said "they're definitely positively bots/scammers" I only answered your question about what the exploit could be
  24. Evangel

    something fishy

they could be contact points for inf selling

they could be accounts hooked up to a monitor that records all names that appear on the team search menu, refresh and list compare done at intervals could build up a list of playernames for spamming emails.

they could be bot accounts auto generated
  25. have to pull out of the raid being dragged off to look at tiles... again... instead. stoopit RL.

please take Evangel out of team Blue.
