Quote:If it helps any, I believe it was Arbiter Hawk (could have been Synapse) commenting on that in a relatively recent twitchtv broadcast (last time Hawk was on, whenever that was).Vehicles
Dev stance: Problematic.
<Twitch.TV link needed>
Comments: Vehicles have issues with things like movement, strafing and the like. (I *believe* there's also a comment on how it would need everything reanimated for attacks, so it's a lot of work, but I'm not 100% sure of that.)
Movement behaviors such as strafing and jumping were the main problems and didn't fit well, as you said.
As far as the animation concerns, you are likely right from the past, but since they've countered that problem by shutting off combat abilities while using RocketBoards, Flying Carpets and such, I think they'd use the same means for other vehicles.
Not arguing with that, but just saying that you're right that it used to be raised in the past, but isn't likely a factor now (unless we're talking about vehicles in combat!). -

Quote:I guess they could be "converting" them into masks. The game lore SAYS that they are recruiting from anywhere. What are they doing with the recruits from Atlas Park if the gang is primarily ethnic? Turning them into Soylent Green?
(I do agree with you though) -
It's not a huge sticking point for me at all, but since there is some back and forth about differentiating them from the Hellions:
The similarity between the Hellions and Skulls seems to me to be the perfect reason for their rivalry and also is very realistic (and possibly poignant). Again, the change is really no problem for me, but since we're just talkin'...
Different gangs exist (as heated/fatal rivals) without so much as a difference other than their gang colors. Worship/rituals surrounding Death as opposed to Demons is far more than enough to differentiate and all that jazz.
The fact that they'd both be recruiting from the same crop of potential gang-bangers is even better.
So, I certainly do not believe in those reasons for the changes. I can accept the changes if that's what they want to do with them, but it wasn't necessary and I can understand people being less embracing of the changes to (or, at the very least, a finer focus of the details of) the gang's existing lore.
I, personally, liked the fact that the two gangs looked somewhat like the same guys with different colors, insignias and masks. It somewhat speaks to the nature of such things. -
I define Player Skill as something that no one should bother spending time defining.
I judge it by a combination of how easily and how well a person accomplishes something that they set out to do... Whether that be:
- reducing an enemy's hit points faster than their own (and their team/league-mates') are reduced
- putting together a costume
- creating and/or portraying a character/concept
- bringing fun to themselves and/or other players along with them

Here's the real kicker and trademark I hope to see kept with the revamp:
Plus, I like those tattoos better, myself. -
Honestly, I'm not 100% sold on the new look.
It's pretty good and keeps with the general feel pretty well with just a few exceptions: I liked the ripped jeans and vests that they had before. Mainly, I (just my personal opinion) am not really a fan of the NPC enemies using the same character models and parts as us. Everything gets a little too samey for my eyes and my tastes.
All that aside, I'd just like to see a few tweaks:
- Insignias on their jacket backs
- Ripped jeans
- Ditch the Club Hair
I mean... the current Skulls do have symbols on their backs, right? Or is it just the Hellions?
*goes to log in*
Also, not a huge fan of how the skull masks look, but I'm not against them or anything. I just wasn't blown away with the feeling Yes! The Skulls visual revamp a great improvement!
However, the revamp is not a swing and a miss or anything like that to my eyes.

I'm sorry, but this thread must actually be filed into the category of proof that you may be crazy.
Hehe, I don't recall any such feature or keybind. Just "B" to bring the camera right back behind you (toggle it between being in and out of first person). -

Quote:Exactly what I do.Challenge, definitely.
Eldorado- I don't seem to have too many problems pulling stuff. No more than two weeks ago, I pulled no less than 40 rogue PPDs (two different groups stacked, I suppose), without more than 3 coming from each pull - most often, either 1 or 2. My own tactic is to pick a long range attack, queue it, target the closest mob, get to the edge of the attack range quick and immediately jump back as it goes off (so the animation plays during the jump and I end up about 100, 120 feet away from the mob). Ideally, I break line of sight and make sure none of my teammates are around as well.
Except I wouldn't recommend Challenge since it is changing in Issue 24 (although, I understand you're just basing it on those two powers as they are currently on live). -
While TP Foe has its advantages (as Memphis pointed out), I'd never bother with Challenge vs. Zap.
Zap (the Electric Snipe) works well for pulling a single enemy.
No, it doesn't work every single time, but I'm not sure that anything does.
I have the most success when I fire my snipe from maximum range AND I back farther away AS SOON as I fire the shot (preferably around a corner or behind an object and out of line of sight of the enemies).
Just my two cents! -

Hehe!
Every time I run these and this happens, I say, "Hang on just a bit, I have to fix my costume in the tailor REALLY FAST!"
Or, "One minute, I just have to respec my character real quick!"
Yes... every time. I try and come up with a different one when I can, but I run them infrequently enough that I can get by with so few lines.
Yes, I take the slow clicker's aggro! *taunt* "You guys mind waiting while I explain enhancements to my noob friend??" -
This really doesn't have much to do with anything, but the recent back and forth just keeps making me think of this:
The one thing that really bothered me about Nolan's "realistic" Batman movies is...
The unrealistic falling damage - At least in one scene, but I'm pretty sure there was more than one.
The Dark Knight: I love it, truly... but when Batman and Rachel fall out of the building and crash (was it onto a parked car?)... Yeah, no... Not a huge deal, but it knocks me out of the movie every single time and makes me sigh.
Rachel landing on top of Bruce doesn't do anyone any good and he'd be in a world of hurt without her weight on him... and even worse with it (despite her light weight).
It just bugs me.
Oh, and when, earlier, Batman jumps down on the van trying to race away out of the parking garage.
It's cool... I like how it is showing the extent that Bruce is willing to throw his mortal body into things, but... if he can survive these things so well, he's not as fragile as he should be.
Again, just a little thing and some obvious Hollywood embellishment, but hey... that doesn't make it okay.

Quote:Hrm... no new normal quiver. I have no problem with the golf bag (not my kind of thing, but whatever), but it's not really a quiver. And if the only other one right now is going to be the Tier 9 one... Well, I'll just wait and see.The Tech Knight quiver was shown in a screenshot...there's that, and the
/e vomitface
Golf Bag
/e vomitface
and those're the only two. The TK one looks pretty sweet, and will prob work for any costume set.
Thanks! -
I didn't catch the first ten minutes or so... Did they mention and/or show any quivers?

Huh, Steel... I play exactly the same way!!
Okay, not really. I'm probably the exact opposite, actually, hehehe.
Great to see the new system you have though! And that you've finally managed to make it work to allow you to get and play some 50s!
I have a question...
How do you create costumes??
Keep on keepin' on! -
Not another bloomin' pun thread...

Quote:Actually you are allowed to mention other games. The rules are just against having discussions about those games.Yes. We are attempting to follow forum rules by not mentioning competing game names which is a no no.
We can say the names, no problemo.
Also, I understand it can be a little confusing, because the rules have been altered a bit a few times. -
Welcome back and glad you're having a blast!
My reply is not intended to be the be all end all response at all, but I thought you may just gain a little bit of comfort from my own experiences (quirky as they may be).
You don't need to get into the IOs at all. Don't get me wrong, you don't need to avoid them either and they do provide benefits...
But... I don't use them beyond what you've been doing. I get the standard IOs so that I don't have to deal with my enhancements diminishing as I level and needing to be replaced. So, yep, that is a great practice and, as far as I am concerned, you are doing it right!!
I don't avoid them for any reason other than I just don't seem to find enjoyment in dealing with them and figuring out which, what and all that. It's not that complicated, but it just seems slightly over the border of what I find fun during my limited happy fun play time, haha... And, fortunately, it hasn't cost me any fun at all. I have a blast when I play and I survive, contribute and succeed without any problems.
A lot of people seem to wait until they are level 50 to truly lay out their full IO set builds, but some do it earlier. There is certainly no right or wrong answer there.
Another big way to get the benefits of using IOs is to do what some call Frankenslotting, where you just focus on what aspects you want to enhance and pull them from different IO sets instead of going with 5 or 6 of a complete set. You can get rather high amounts of enhancements by grabbing a bunch of damage/recharge/accuracy IOs from different sets and combining them together. Throw in one or two different ones from the same set and you'll also get a small set bonus too. (Hope that made sense)
Bottom line... if you're having a blast, you're not missing anything!
And there's no right time to start. Do you have Mids? That's an extremely handy tool for planning builds and having a look at things!
Best of luck and I'm sure you'll get plenty of other replies in here with great suggestions. -
Quote:Oh, definitely.I took it that he was speaking to the parents - apologizing for failing to take care of/keep safe Bruce.
If I saw it correctly at the time, I enjoyed the camera angles during that scene... It left a tiny bit of ambiguity about who he was addressing as he started speaking, but moved a bit and we saw that he was definitely facing Bruce's parents' graves and apologizing to them.
I liked that, as it somewhat upped the emotion and history with that little reveal. Either that or there was no play with the camera angle and I was just a bit slow in realizing that he was definitely talking to Bruce's parents. Regardless, that was all just within a few seconds during his words there.
