Quote:I know you and I are getting way ahead of ourselves here and it's just an optimistic hypothetical scenario...It's not surprising the dev team would be looking to save the game. This was their baby, not to mention their job. It's heartening to hear our efforts are having an effect, though. As hopeful as I am, I did not see that coming. Corporations don't tend to react to player pressure, especially corporations which just axed a product with no warning. I'm guessing City of Heroes being basically profitable lends a lot of weight to the situation. If the game were failing, we'd have had no weight of argument.
Honestly, if this tragedy does get salvaged in the end and we do manage to help Paragon Studios stay together, I envision a much closer relationship between developers and players. But that's still just wishful thinking.
I had mentioned it elsewhere, but I would absolutely love to remain with this community after having gone through this together.
By and large this has been a tremendously friendly and great community. I'd like to think that, going through this scare and each of us realizing the reality of how much we love it here and how much we do not want to lose it, that we could very possibly become far greater.
I know it has made me reflect more on how much I appreciate the many forum-goers that I see on a regular basis around here.
Sure, we'll all disagree and people will get rude now and then, no doubts... But, I don't know... I believe something would be different. For the better.
Possibly anyway...

Well there's an awesome spoiler I hadn't heard about!!
You just reminded me that I was keeping some of Issue 24 a surprise for myself for... you know, when I had no reason to believe it wouldn't be coming out as planned!
Haha, not upset at all... just... wow... cool! (Took me a bit to figure out what I was seeing there) -
I just believe very strongly that this game and the amazing Paragon Studios deserves to remain very much in tact and continue to deliver the quality and fun that it has been delivering.
When I believe something is deserving, no odds against, and no amount of negativity, will prevent me from continuing to believe it and from doing anything I can to make it so. -
Quote:Wait... it got weird?! I didn't notice... Then again...Dude, why would we NOT support you guys?
I can understand that MMOs don't last forever, and that CoH will shut down eventually... but this is crazy premature. Issue 24 is insanely promising, bringing closure to the last of the launch complaints and with crazy Blaster buffs. Heck, I hate playing ranged damage characters, and I was itching to try out a Blaster with all the changes you guys made. Just, y'know... after I kicked a bunch of *** redside with my planned TW/Bio Armor Brute.
You've got our swords, our axes, our bows, and even access to a great number of our wallets to some degree. We want you to keep going. We want to see what's next. And then we want you to go some more. To the next level. TO THE MOON.
... Sorry, that got a little weird there. I haven't been getting much sleep lately (and I imagine many of the players and developers which make up this community can empathize).
May this be the first of many FPARNs to come.

Look, this thread started off as a nice, informative thread about video outtakes of the development staff, but now it has just gotten silly. -

Idling - (linked from soundcloud)
I'd like to sail to the moon
To see you soon
Will you still love me?
And if you do
Will it still work
With all of my quirks
I'd like to reacquaint myself with smiling
While I'm just idling
But it's lonely here
Without you
I'd like to travel the world
Become unfurled
And dance within the sky
But if I did
I'd be gone for far too long
I'd like to reacquaint myself with smiling
While I'm just idling
Down this lonely street away from you
I'd like to reacquaint myself with smiling
But I'm just idling
Down this cold road of blue
I like to think of you
And all that you do
How could you love me?
But you do
And it's so hard to reach so far
I'd like to reacquaint myself with smiling
While I'm just idling
Down this lonely street away from you
I'd like to reacquaint myself with smiling
But I'm just idling
Down this cold, cold road of blue

I'll be there... I may break out a tribute costume I made for one of our Devs in the past...
-
I lost track of what I was intending to say earlier...
Just started that off to say that, because of all those great qualities, you guys (and this game) deserve to continue on for quite some time and should be rewarded for your fantastic work... And the recent events are insane and totally undeserving of the fantastic team you guys have put together over there! -

I feel like the enormous success of The Avengers somehow also plays a role in commenting on how ridiculous it is to dump a popular, profitable and quality super hero mmo.
Also, the tie-in of Joss Whedon, his oddball and not always understood approach, the loving fans and what they managed to accomplish when his beloved Firefly show was canceled, and his big-time success as writer/director of this years super hero blockbuster... could all also tie-in for some nice stuff, if anyone is looking for more.
I'm really only mentioning these things as further extrapolations and commentary and angles for this.
The bare bones is simple and obvious and effective, but I'm just tossing these out in case it kindles anything more. -

Quote:I'm guessing that the only thing known is that it was not CoH2!Sooo... would you like to give us a guess as to what the secret project(s) was/were...? >_>
Also... haha, about the skeleton effect. Never guessed that one, but I can see why.
Sheesh... you know you all love me... you should have clicked on my links and found out, ya bunch of sillyheads!
P.S. This is E-K's head nurse... please don't break his happy delusion that you all find him that interesting.
P.P.S. This is E-K's hamster... feed me! -
Thank you, Protean!!
I love this community as well, but I just want to make sure you understand that you and the whole team (and War Witch raved about you to me the first time I spoke to her when Going Rogue launched)... you guys are THE best in the business.
The story arcs, the innovations, the game play, the absolute enthusiasm and love that every single Paragon Studios employee I have ever had the pleasure to talk to or just hear from, the ability and willingness to communicate and interact with the entire community... and the modesty to take those experiences and apply them to your craft... It all has made it a blast to be a customer, fan, player and a part of this awesome game.
Much love to you, your work and everyone over there. And, you need to know... we are not done believing in and holding on to you guys.
Heroes may die, but heroism never shall. -
Quote:Right, right. I forget not everyone is a huge, intensely informed fan of my creations!!I see. I figured the skeleton guy was an AE enemy or something.
Malfaz's (hack job of a) Virtueverse entry.
And E-K's
And, to stick on topic...
I can neither confirm nor deny that the top seekrit projekt was about Malfaz...
EDIT:
And yeah, I had planned to change it and make it more of a "get out of my way, this is my forum image" *shove aside* "No, no, YOU get out of the way, it's mine!" over and over. -
I say this jokingly... Although, it is true to my very initial reaction (quickly dismissed as I believe the sincerity... we are all fans and gamers and can relate to each other through times like these).
I feel like I'm being approached by missionaries..."Oh, diseased village? Starving? Thirsty? We can help... if you swear to our ways and beliefs!".
Hehe... -
Quote:Thanks for asking! Lemme 'splain...Speaking of that Avatar of yours...
What the hell is actually going on?
I've always wondered, never gotten around to asking.
I always thought so as well, but I have actually had a few people asking me (and I knew fully, so I've never been sure ever since)...
Quote:I can't, I had to fudge slightly to fit in the avatar size limit. If you give the forums a bigger avatar than 100x100, it scales it to fit and that made it look funny.
Good stuff indeed
Mad Grim... I am going to show a much more involvd explanation of my forum avatar in a bit... but for now, I'll just explain that it is my main hero Electric-Knight and my main villain Malfaz fighting for the spot in my avatar picture.
I have been meaning to fix it (brighten it up a bit and make it a smaller file size...) ever sine I first uploaded it... Sorry!
I originally had just E-K in there. Then I was playing through some character story arcs with friends where my villain severely injured E-K... and removed E-K and put that villain, Malfaz, in his place. That was an animated one of Malfaz, twitching and convulsing from electricity.
Then, when E-K was getting better, I replaced that with the current one.
The same Malfaz twitching image, but then E-K leaps in with a havoc punch and takes his place, giving a thumbs up.
Yeah... there's a longer explanation... because it involves a short in-game movie I made of their fight. -
Thanks GG!
And thank you AH!
Quote:Yes, yes, indeed. I very much loved seeing that. The bit that sounds really good is "Paragon management" - not "some of the developers" - it makes it sound like they are still holding the studio together in at least some way.
Not pinning my hopes on this, but yeah... very nice to hear.
Anything we can do... let's keep it going! -

Don't worry, NC Legal can't make me talk. Actually, they can make me talk, but they will quickly regret asking me to talk. I can do that continuously for months without running out of topics.
I hope this comes off as non-scary (pay no attention to the avatar) as possible when I simply say... I love ya, Arcanaville! -
I still sometimes sit and watch the NPCs doing laps inside the Portal Corp building... through the walls. Oh, that unstable portal technology!

Quote:I can ask him about it next time I see him, but he's probably just going to glare at me...
Don't let us get you into more trouble!
Just for the record, I was not here when Jack was here and have zero of that animosity that some have. Not that it was unclear that I was making a joke, but I just felt the need to further distance myself from any of that stuff.
Still... I've never heard where he was the night Bruce Wayne's parents were killed...
