KB is epic. So epic, that the first thing I do for many characters is have a higher-level sibling craft them a -KB IO. Nothing is more fun for me than a sewer full of Council spamming KB, at level 10 or whatever! Well, the only thing more fun is a Storm person running amok without a care in the world as to what it is their powers actually DO, but its a near thing.
Makes me thankful for IOs, yes it does.

Years ago, I had looked into trying to make figures of my D&D characters and such...
The problem is making One-Ofs. You make the model and the mold and all of that and that takes work and money... pounding out hundreds-thousands of them makes it worthwhile... pounding out one makes it an expensive figure, hehe.
That's just doing it that way.
Transferring the information digitally is another story (Although, as covered elsewhere and mentioned here, doesn't seem to currently work well for CoH).
Best bet might be to make (Or get someone to make) a digital model of your character and then use that with someone that can make a physical model from it.
Me? I always want swivel joints and whatnot. Model it after the 80s swivel-joint GI Joes...

Seriously... One of the "epic" memories that I think of what got me loving this game was some Boss fight I had in the lower levels street sweeping my way through one of those tunnel/overpasses in... Gah, I can't recall which zone it was in (But there are some in Atlas... pretty sure it was higher level though)... Just the back and forth of knockbacks and slamming into the concrete walls in a tough fight, popping greens and break frees and being sent flying across the street and into the passing traffic.
Knockbacks are epic. -

Honestly, I think it could be a misnomer that those-in-power claim... And also fulfill if/when need be.
So, if "those-in-knowledge" tell the poor, young troubled psychics, "This affliction causes a short lifespan... But... our special training will help you to control it and live longer than you would otherwise"... It's not a bad selling point.
Fear + Promise of Help/Improvement = Inclination to do what they say (A psychological controlling mechanism of sorts).
Or (And possibly both) it is just the public spin on why so many psychics die so young...

I don't myself presume that I'm carrying them all around with me. I presume they are somehow "used" to improve my character's performance. But things like Training Enhancements and Natural SOs are generally described as literal training. "Buying" them from a store or the markets represents the conceptual activity of exchanging inf for training. And its not even necessarily "an exchange ." It could be seen as a post-hoc decision that all along while you were earning that "inf" you were really expending time training yourself as you went along. In other words, rather than "earning inf" you were really "practicing to get better" and the use of inf to buy those enhancements is a retroactive decision.
All of these things are not consistent with a "market" that allows you to "buy" and "sell" them. *Some* things are, but the markets have to conceptually encompass all of them, and the only way to presume that is to presume that the markets themselves are a convenient fiction. We treat them like markets you buy and sell from, but that is a game mechanical dodge to prevent having to represent far more complex trading and training mechanics.
This means just because the only straight-forward way to conceptualize cross-faction execution is by a literal underground railroad of goods and services flowing between the two factional domains, doesn't mean that is the actual concept being represented. The markets are far too abstract for that to be definable. Now, if you *choose* to conceptualize them that way, and as a result role play that concept by opting out of them, that was always dealers choice. Some people probably don't even like the notion of "buying" *anything* from *anyone* that isn't an actual thing and clashes with their concepts of what the items actually are. But this is not mandated by the devs' actions, even if it appears to be an apparently logical conclusion. The axioms of that conclusion are far too shaky for that line of thought to be objective.

I'd only mention an extra stress towards your mileage may vary and anything and everything can be conceptualized as physical objects (potions, scrolls, tech, chemical boosts, deity-given boons, Scooby Snacks, etc) just as much as it can be conceptualized as nonexistent.
I'm not stressing that to you, Arcanaville, as you get it and mentioned it yourself.
I've been in this conversation before and have seen some people's difficulty in understanding that conceptualization swings both ways.
Myself, I handwave most enhancements and such things as nonexistant for my characters and Wentworth's is just a meta-game game mechanic behind the scenes aspect of my role-playing.
If it is anything to me In-Character... it is for buying regular and/or super-special things. A general auction house.
And, yeah, inspirations always seem like a limited form of karma points from the old Marvel RPG
Of course, my handwaving and concepts vary from character to character.

Going to take some time to stop thinking in binary terms.
Your question made me realize that awesome aspect of the merger.
Being able to use the BM or WW with Rogues and Vigilantes.
It just seems like a cool thing to me, beyond the simple convenience of not having to go back and forth.

And those who spend more time and thought on these things than me have been suggesting this would be best for a while... So, I defer to them (And now the developers as well) and cheer for another improvement to streamline the game and our fun!

Not fighting to the bank. Nooo, that would be too easy. Now a lot of players seem to think that running/stealthing straight to the bank (a la Safeguards) is the way to do a Mayhem mission.
And, as I've had players tell me, it's a 50/50 chance you'll complete the mission because of the big Longbow ambush that magically pops up when you get to the bank, so it doesn't matter how you do the mission.
If I had to guess, I'd say it is spill-over from Blueside-Minded players playing on Redside.
Completely just a guess.
Perhaps, after playing so much Blueside, it is ingrained in your brain that when you do a bank mission, you must race to the bank!
Of course... the beauty of the Mayhem Missions is... the mayhem!! So, it is a shame. Hopefully we can show any rushers the true nature of the mayhem! And then they will know and understand... and have boat loads of fun!!
Also, to the OPs PuG story... It's not really simply a newb sort of thing. The one is both reading is fundamental (Take the hacker to the computer, not the exit) and also listening to good advice. You may not know the advice was good at first... but after other ways fail... perhaps it is best to give that person's idea a shot, eh?
And then, apparently (And I believe it, because I see it so often) ignoring those words of advice even after it was not followed and confusion sets in and is displayed in the form of "????", hahaha. Sillyheads. Which, actually... goes back to the first point... try READING!! The mission says to bring the hacker to the computer... that one player said we need to bring the hacker to the computer... What is so difficult here? That's not simply newb stuff. That's... You deserve a kick in the **** stuff

To the second scenario... Yeah, I don't know what makes it happen, but I often see groups of people listening to the wrong "leader". Person A has the right advice. Person B has the wrong advice. It seems that groups go with Person B more often than Person A (When person A is around... often times there are just a bunch of Person Bs)... And this isn't just in CoH or games or anything, hehe.
Must be some sort of DNA coding in humans. That's my theory.
A predisposition to listen to the wrong person.

Just my quick thoughts about expectations and what was said and all that...
I enjoy it when developers/artists share thoughts and ideas that spring to their mind before production is under way.
And that is entirely what I saw Posi's comment about animal parts and mutant packs as.
The Developers kick around ideas on their own, share them with the team, with friends, with taxi drivers, the team has meetings, they kick around ideas, they agree, they disagree, they argue, they debate, they come up with decisions and things get worked on... things get tweaked, changed or wrapped up... And ideas that were mentioned many moons ago may or may not show any resemblance to what ended up going into development or coming out of the process.
If someone wanted to nitpick and make a claim that something should have been done differently... they could say that Posi, or someone, should have mentioned that animal parts were not fit into production for the mutant pack, that they went a different way, etc.
I don't really insist that the developers keep a perfect record of what they have mentioned in fleeting moments of down-to-earth discussions, so much so that they make sure to come on by and mention any time a completely theoretical idea that they mentioned ends up not lining up with the development path the team chose.
I enjoy their candor in those sorts of situations. They're fans, themselves.
They get into the discussions with other fans and mention, "Hmm, animal parts sound more like they'd be in a mutant pack"... But when the team met and made their decisions of what direction to go with... A completely different path was decided upon.
This is a specific scenario where the animal parts do have a rabid fanbase wishing to see more (I couldn't resist). So, sure... in a perfect world, they might have mentioned animal parts were not being made for the mutant booster at this time (But it's not a perfect world and I really don't think it is a big deal that they didnt say any such thing! C'mon, we're all just people, waking up and sleeping and doing stuff in-between). And, don't get me wrong, I am one of the rabid fans wanting more animal parts. I'd love to see more animal parts. And I figure we will one day
In fact, I'm glad for the animated tails and the new bushy tail.
I hope to see a lot more than one booster pack could add... but that's just me.
Monstrous heads that can have more customization (horns and head details, please!). Fury/Hairy options for regular legs and monstrous feet for regular legs. Different looking canine heads.
Duck bills and beaver tails.
And some non-monstrous hairy, animal face options. -
I will zap all of the citizens of Paragon City with my ULTO-SHRINK-RAY-BEAMOMATOR and all will be right!!
Really, adjusting all of the civillian NPCs down a tad will do the job. No real problems. I don't think it's a problem if SKulls loom over the civilians (Hopefully the purse snatching animations won't be affected greatly...).
Truly... the reason is simple for why the NPCs are so tall...

About the "good standing" thing... They keep books on this stuff.
It's got names and gold star stickers and skull and crossbone stickers and even some fold out dart board pages.
They know who you are and have full reports on you all.
It's basically about whether you've proven, beyond reasonable doubt, that you're an [censored] or not.
You might be a [censored] or a [censored] yet still be viewed as a solid enough community member to serve the beta well enough... But any true [censored] is not considered to be in "good standing" and they don't have a Fusionette chance of success in the RWZ of getting into any closed betas.
