Hey Sargatanas
I will try and make it for the Hess TF, real life calls me at 7pm and Im not sure if Ill be able to make it in time. If I can make it I can bring one of:
Eiceman lvl 35 Ice/SS Tank
or
Xeron lvl 28 Rad/Rad Defender
Depending on team makeup. -
Lady_DarkForce good news about the control of Earth/Trick Arrow, should be great fun, and the news about Earth/ joining CoV, I should read more forums lol.
Mega_Jamie another altaholic? *faints at the mentioning of deleting an Earth/ *
Miss_Chief omg, how can this get any better, so cant wait to level more. *Mental note must take stalagmites and earthquake *. Despite having fly, Im a well grounded player and with Siphon Speed Ill stay grounded during missions. Nice to know that the build doesnt have to have Stamina, but just for the quick recovery whilst resting Ill get it though. Keep us informed of what your toon is like when you get your tank pet 
Blue_Note we all make mistakes, god knows I still make plenty with 2 years experience of playing CoX. Mind you with altaholism its not easy to manage your toons lol. Sounds like Mega_Jamie made the right choice as (s)he enjoyed the new toon more. -
Thanks guys for the positive feedback about Earth/ , its really encouraging to hear others having a wail of a time with it.
False_Fiction thinking of rolling another Earth/ controller, probably empathy or arrow (like the idea of some of its control again!), they do Earth/ in villains?
OV_ohms Ill keep Quicksand and use it more often, probably just something that will grow on me.
Blue_Note awww man, if I wanted to love a toon Ive just found it in my controller. Unfortunately its not my first controller, but the first one that has made me like it soo much, didnt like the playstyle of other controllers until this one, and am struggling with my lvl 19 to like it.
Donna Tommic not really been looking at /Kin, just something I find off putting. Siphon Speed rocks, and its funny running around that fast without gold/yellow feet. So Siphon Speed stacks ontop of each other? Was wondering that. Does Siphon Power do the same? Stack with multiple applications? Oh I cant wait to go hunting huge mobs hehehe
LostNinja was looking at my build, and thinking about Inertial Reduction, and didnt include that in my provisional build. Could change my mind when I get there. -
Thabo
What can I say. First off I have a lvl 50 /Regen, and have a lvl 9 Claws toon. So I have a little experience with both.
What can I say about your build.
Firstly, I would seriously recommend that you get more attacks earlier on. Claws isnt a heavy damage build and I feel that you will find the two attacks somewhat lacking in a chain upto the 20's. I would recommend you get more attacks before lvl 14 and get a reasonable attack chain that will make your leveling easier, and get more attacks over the whole of the build, youre a damage dealer, deal damage.
Secondly, I would move Hasten to an earlier lvl, it will help with your damage per second. I can appreciate damage isnt the be all and end all but youre a scrapper.
Thirdly, if I had come across a scrapper with just two attacks at lvl 20 I dont believe Id keep them on the team.
I cant give you advice on what IOs to select, but where to possibly select powers, this is not definitive and you put them where you want to when it comes to the crunch:

I rolled a Earth/Kin controller this weekend, now sitting at lvl 13, and I am so impressed with the set(s). Been playing for almost two years, and this toon has got my blood rushing when I play him. Ive been on Tenacious since lvl 2 and stayed at that difficulty, which Ive never done with any toon, even with a scrapper or tank.
Its an awesome, jaw hitting the floor, holder with:
Fossilize (great power, put your hands up in the air its Kidd the Hero!)
Stone Cages (just an awesome power, hit a lot of mob with just two acc TOs)
Quicksand (debatable for me at the moment, use it with almost every mob when soloing, but not very often in team)
Salt Crystals (maybe a mistake, not very useful when in teams as I dont get that close)
complimented by:
Transfusion (great heal when you get a bind added)
Siphon Power (adds to damage, woot!)
Siphon Speed (Im still gona choose fly)
Sands of Mu (great when it hits, get most of even lvld victims HP down quickly)
Air Superiority (just adds to the damage)
Ive played one other kin, now deleted, and it didnt feel like this, so it cant be down the the kinetics. Just thought I would let you know how impressed I am with the set, well done devs;. Does anyone else feel like this about their Earth/Kin?
-
Welcome back dude. Have a great time arresting hero's.
-
Well done guys to everyone that took part, it was a very successful TF for both teams. A really big thanks, and great pleasure of teaming with:
Nocturama
Ouroborous Enforcer
Hey Farmer
So What?
Paddy Whack
Keeper of Time
Timed in at 1hour 59 mins, well done, it really felt faster than that, either that or Im just slow!
An even bigger thanks goes to Sargatanas for arranging the event, great job, and hopefully team with you after Numina TF. -
What server would you be looking to use?
I got one on each server that wouldnt mind being exemp'd (lvl 19 Fire/Rad on Union, or lvl 7 Ill/Storm on Defiant). I wouldnt complain if I had to roll another controller though if needed
Eice -
If your looking to start a team send a tell to Eiceman, I don't mind carrying the star either.
If I'm on and not already in a team, working on a MM atm and there's not much happening that side like you say, i'll swap toons and join ya. Got a variety of toons to pick from and I don't mind exemping higher lvl'd ones either. -
Hi Guys and Gals
Was a fab TF, although my rash did play up afterwards!
Although i atracted the attention of the AV, I thought everyone handled it v well
Eice -
@Morphius will be on about then. Let me know if you want to make it upto an 8 man team, can either bring:
Hellyon - lvl 34 Ice/SS Tanker.
Xeron - lvl 24 Rad/Rad Defender.
U decide -
I'd be game to join, Hellyon lvl 29 Ice/SS Tank if there is a lower PvP team going. Else I'll just have to work on it till the 40's for the PvP Teaming.
-
I'll try and make it too:
DayGlo - lvl 11/12 Emp/Arr Def (One Attack, rest Emp set, Recall Friend)
If i'm not lvl 12 i will try and make it so by 19:00. -
I'm not a massive PvP player but what I have heard is:
1) Primary Ice (Ice Armour) is not that good in PvP, but like i said it's what I have heard. Apparently the explanation was because it's defence and not damage resistance.
The attacker can just pop a few yellows and its reasonably easy to bypass Ice Armour's Defences. Whereas Damage Resistence is that you take a lesser amount of damage when hit, unless attacker has popped reds.
2) I would probably go for either Fire/Energy or Ice secondary, not for the smashing/lethal component but more for the secondary effects. Fire - apparently great AoE and DoT. Energy - some component of energy damage (but i know you want to avoid this). Ice - slow effects with some controllerish powers.
I would recommend playing a tank before thinking of powers for PvP and to look at your playstyle.
I'm not sure if you can overcome the Smashing/Lethal resistance/defence easily. -
Gratz to Defcon_Kid for organising LGTF. And well done to everyone that made it the most interesting badge to earn so far. Never faced Hami, in any form, so that was an experience and a half. Also the Elite Boss and Arch Villain killing was just out of this world.
Well Done Everyone that was there
p.s. When's the next TF Defcon? -

Thanks for your comments Nefarious, it's great to hear another side of the story that was blocked by pure gobsmackedthisplayerdoesntappeartoknowthepowerscho sen.com rage.
I'm also glad that I do not appear to be the only one noticing the attention needed to play the game to it's fun potential. Maybe it's because I'm developing into a Veteran (approaching 2years experience fast), or just really experienced at the game (No I don't really play the game every single night and let my RT life go to waste, really!).
I come across a lot of new players, not noobs, just new players and I love sharing the nacks that I have found for the game when the new player is eager to learn. But when you come across a person that has chosen a power but doesnt use it in situations when it is needed it does get very frustrating (I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry).
I have learnt my lesson, if I come across this toon(s) again I will give them one mission for them to change my mind, if no change I'll quit the team. -
Defenders as a rule are not healers, they are buffers and mob debuffers.
Your Healing Aura, Heal Other and Absorb Pain are quick, great health buffs for team mates. If you feel that you are not getting the best from those powers check your slots and enhs that you have in the powers, check the forums for build types and recommendations.
Keep with the toon and work with him/her for a few more levels and then consider if the toon is for you. Dont forget to keep your mind open as well, not every power of a certain AT will suit someone that loves playing that AT with the variety of powers.
p.s. Welcome to the forums Sorvah. -
I just wanted to raise an issue. I was teaming on a team of 4 at about lvl 12, 2 Def (Emp/?, Rad/Rad), 1 Scrap, 1 Tank.
I was confused as to why one would become an Emp/ Def when they do not use the powers to the teams advantage. We were teaming CoT and it was really hard. The mages were putting down shock waves, holding and immobilizing team, and we died several times in the mish.
After a few minutes in the mish I asked the Emp/ Def to Clear Mind all team mates, this happened once. I had to remind the Emp/ Def again, and again. I sent a message to the Emp Def to explain the power and had to quit the team as I found it so frustrating.
I suppose the frustrating thing is that I have used the Emp set up to the mid 30's and I hope I used it well. I kept the list of icons open to show me what buffs/toggles were being used, and those that were wearing off, on the toons. So why o' why would someone choose a power, not know what it does, and when asked to use it only use it once. I can appreciate that people have to learn, but do people come across this sort of thing very much? or was I just in a sensitive frame of mind! -
Was a great TF, and didnt really take that long. Well done to everyone that took part, Radulak (i fink that was his name) wasn't that hard when we finally found him/her/whatever.
Congratulations to you TradeMark_Saphi for organising it. Whens the next one -
Thanks for the responses guys, I have found them very informative.
-
Is it worth slotting for -def at all? I was looking to go down the DeBuff bot root toon.
Would it provide an advantage at all to the team if it was -Def?
Eice -
Hi TMS
I'm up for the SSTF2 with my scrapper toon:
@Eiceman - Morphius - lvl 50 - MA/Regen Scrapper
more than willing to SK. See you at 6:15pm.
Looking forward to teaming again
Eiceman -
Firstly some advice on /Regen: It all depends on your play style and your team. I have a lvl 50 MA/Regen scrapper who currently has:
*Fast Healing
*Reconstruction (Recon)
*Quick Recovery
*Dull Pain (DP)
*Integration
*Instant Healing
Ive learnt that if it looks like things could get messy in a mob I would recommend hitting DP before attacking as this increases your Hit Points (I fink Mids Hero Designer says increase of 40% unslotted), and you can then use Reconstruction as a back up heal. Both these powers are greatly supported by Hasten (from the Speed Power Pool).
From experience I use to charge in, use DP and at times use Recon to survive, sometimes this worked, others I faceplanted as Recon hadnt recharged when I needed it.
Personally, I would get Quick Recovery when you can start getting Dual/Single/Invention Enh, the difference isnt really that noticable with just training origin enh. Integration is your lvl 16 power for /Regen, get it, slot it to 3 heals and keep it toggled, you will notice a difference.
Resilience, hmmm, you got that power covered in Integration if it stays toggled. If you got the power slot free then it's up to you.
I would recommend that if your not sure about a power try it on the Test Server. Im currently trying out Revive and Moment of Glory. Revive can be handy. Moment of Glory (MoG) is debatable, and Im trying it on the test server as we speak. I would say these are both down to personal taste, but worth trying somewhere along the line. -
Same here, I have a variety of toons from early teens to late twenties, and would love the opportunity to get the badges.
