Why have you started doing these OOC quotes on the forum? In all of your 8 years online I have never seen you use OOC quotes in an OOC forum until yesterday.

    Whats that all about?

And you as well! Do I need to hit you two with something? Its duckling syndrome isnt it? All it takes is for one person to use brackets and all the other RP'ers fall in line out of pure habit!

Thats it, Im using OOC quotes when taking with you guys on Skype from now on.

Kai! Its so good to see you! Flea told me you had died in a tragic motorboating accident, so I am doubly happy to see you!

I like the idea of starting fresh with old faces. There is a lot of history between the various members yet everyone gets a clean slate to launch a new chapter of their adventure from while still maintaining that old repertoire. If we prodded Flea into action then that would pretty much make up the core of people I have been RP'ing with since coming back.

It sounds like it could be a lot of fun!

You would also get 2 more people for L4D, both of us have L4D 1 & 2 and love us some zombie killing action! I think even Flea has L4D1 but I don't think he has 2.

I also spoke to Matt King last night, put forth some very blunt questions and got some great answers back so I think what I am going to do (if you will have us) is have Nurse White follow with Seri, Jack, Stormy and Flea but split off her her sister (Pearl White, who is also an old RP character IO'ed out to the max) put in an app for The Palladium Sentry so that I can meet some new people while getting to develop Pearl as a character outside the story arcs of Seri and Lizzy, with the added bonus of tormenting Flea.

I would like to thank everyone for their help and suggestions! All of the groups that people have put forth, I did research on, asked questions about and read up on their forums if they had them. They all looked like great communities filled with good people and I only wish I could have joined them all. Sadly that would be completely impractical and unfair to all involved as I am one of the worst multitaskers in the history of doing more than one thing at a time, and I could only ever learn to juggle two balls at once.

Truly, thank you everyone for being so very helpful!

    Fight Night

Like I can remember who hosted Fight Night 4 years ago, I can barely remember the color of my socks.

Then again, I just participated, its not like I'm trying to take the event over while not knowing its history or tradition.

Do as I say not as I do dammit!

Anywho, I am glad the event went well. What was the turn out like?
  8. These have been some great leads, thank you everyone!

I shall do some research on LSA, Justice Girls and The Palladium Sentry.

Matt, I shall most certainly PM you in game with some questions, thank you.

I left you a message but then a little while later Cien logged into VU so snagged an invite from Puppah. I had fun chatting with people, a very fun group of peeps!

That is actually a standard application process for an RP Guild.

The application is important as it screens out those who can not be bothered to fill out an app. If someone is not willing to put any time or effort into their application it is a warning sign that they will most likely not place time and effort into the group.

The application also allows you to screen for bad writers, text speakers (I r gud n u?) and Mary Sues.

Interviews are done in character for most groups, so the interview tests the applicants improve and live RP skills and members of the Guild to get a "feel" for the player.

Back in 1996 during the AOL boom, I founded the Ring of Magi, a Rhydin Guild that at its peek had over 1000 members. Every single one of these members filed an application and was then vetted by a live interview.

In 2001 a friend of mine convinced me to join them in the Order of the Crimson Star. I became the Commander of the Order of Autumn Dusk within 3 months. The OCS also had a strict application policy and at its height had well over 5000 members, every one of them carefully chosen.

I helped run the Nemesis Council when CoH went live. One of the Largest Villain Groups in the days before we had CoV. The Nemesis Council was not only strict in its application process but interviews were grueling.

When I accidentally created the Sushi School Girl Squad, we had a very open and accepting policy, anyone could join and be a part of the group yet we still had an application process to vet costume, name and characters to ensure that the groups theme was maintained.

When LotRO went live I founded The Knights of Minas Tirith, we not only had a detailed application but they would interview not with just one or two people, but with as many of the Guild whom were online at the time whom wished to attend. They would all then attempt to intimidate the applicant and force them to stand up for what they believed in. If they did not wilt under the pressure and scrutiny, they were then brought into the guild via an initiation ceremony. As a result, even the greenest of recruits felt that they had earned their right to be in the guild and were willing to stand up and take action and be involved.

The point in all of this being that the application and interview process is an important tool for not only protecting the community that you are trying to build, but can also be an invaluable RP tool that helps players feel that they truly belong to something special, as opposed to feeling that they are just another random face in a sea of random faces, none of whom really matter.

Every Guild I have created or belong to, that was worth anything... had a solid application and interview process, and every prestige sweatshop and cyber harem I have stumbled upon had an open invite policy.

That's not to say every open Guild IS a sweatshop or harem, only that my experience has been colored to be very weary of any Guild that does not have a decent application and interview process, so to me that would actually be a mark in favor of The Palladium Sentry.

LSI is full of people I know pretty damn well, so I can personally vouch for them being awesome and helpful. I don't yet have a toon in their SGs yet however.

Jadewire-wise, I'm a recent recruit, and loving the stay; they're an incredibly proactive/regular SG, as in, there's pretty much SOMEONE that's always on and willing to do something. You can see 10-12+ members on at a time, plus others on alts and sister supergroups. Ventrilo sessions are a (several hours daily) hoot, and everyone is very friendly. Very expansive base too with all the amenities you could ever need (we put a teleporter in your teleporter so you can phase while you phase!).
I have some history with Jadewire... well more accurately I have some history with one of their leaders by the name of Elizabeth Forsythe. That history being that I think she is an idiot and an attention [censored by self] and she thinks I am that jackhole who greifed her for a week by inviting her into teams with different characters and whom then proceeded to tell her exactly why she was an idiot until she would rage quit. (Yes I know, not very mature of me but to say that we didn't get along would be an understatement, and it was not intentional it just sort of worked out that she was always LFT at the time that I was running one.)

Now I can't really speak for the rest of Jadewire, but I somehow I don't think it would work between us.

Do you perhaps have any details on LSI? All I know about them is that they are known for doing large contests and promotions, and that's about it.

    Song: The The "Infected"

    Lyrics:

I've got too much energy to switch off my mind,
but not enough to get myself organized.
My heart is heavy--my head is confused,
And my aching little soul--has started burning blue!

I can't give you up, till I've got more than enough.
So infect me with your love--
Nurse me into sickness. Nurse me back to health.
Endow me with the gifts--of the man made world.

When desire becomes an illness instead of a joy,
And guilt a necessity that's gotta be destroyed.

Take me by the hands and walk me to the end of the pier.
Run your fingers through my hair,
and tell me what I wanna hear--
Will lies become truths in this face of fading youth

Nurse me into sickness, nurse me back to health
And tell me what it is that I want in this world!!

  12. Leaving that information out was intentional as I am more looking for suggestions from people that I already know and whom already know the character in the hope that someone may be able to say "Oh hey, so and so are still around and she would fit in great there" and less attempting to solicit invitations from strangers.

It was just easier to write a forum post rather than trying to get a hold of people in game as most of the people I know In game also use the Virtue forums.

Everything about Spider screams Hunter S. Thompson, yet they managed to kick it up another notch and transport the personality to somewhere akin to Mega-City One.

Spider really only comes off as a "Hero" because everyone else in the world is just so amazingly corrupt and wicked that Spider seems noble in comparison.

The writing for Transmet is just beautiful, so gritty, so dark, so dirty. You feel like you have been sharing needles every time you turn the page, and Spider is right there goading you on, holding up a cracked mirror to the society in which we so pleasantly live and challenging us to question our morality and world perspective.

  15. So RP'ing in Gemini Park again has made me realize how much I miss and enjoy RP'ing with my main character.

I would like the opportunity to spend more time RP'ing with a good crowd of people and I have an aversion to the D. Normally I would just float around and RP with whom ever I met while doing missions but I really have no need to drag her out to do anything as she is already 50 and has all the Accolades, IO & Purple Sets I need and even some I don't. Without an End Game I have no excuse to play her except when people I know are running Raids and TF's.

So the solution would be to join an RP SG. However I have been away for so long that I have no idea who is who, whats going on where, who is active, who says they are active but really only have 3 people who log in and most importantly, who is really an RP SG and not just a front for someones Cyber Harem.

I could start my own SG, but the prospect of Nurse White being an SG leader is terrifying and I have already inflicted enough insanity on this server.

So help me out my fellow Virtuites, steer me in the right direction!

What RP SG would be a good fit for Lizzy? Where I could actually RP and not be treated like an prestige monkey or roster padding? Most importantly who would be crazy enough to give her access to SG and Coalition chat?
