My comment was aimed at a specific incident which happened a long time ago, yet still to this day the bug exists.
Many bugs have been in this game a long long long time. Look at the arena for god sakes (show stopping bugs from I4 to I8 with no end in sight). Its long overdue for the devs to actually make a real effort at a bug fixing crusade, and not just a little head fake where they fix one or two out of the hundreds that exist.
This archery bug has been around since before I8, didnt see any fix for it then. Saw a lot of attention to new features being added.
I really do not think I am alone here when i say I'd love to hear the devs say, "We are going to devote the next issue to fixing bugs while adding a small amount of content". Instead it's always been fix a couple of bugs as a token, then cram in 100 new features and 100 new bugs and 100 other bugs that arise from the existing bugs and their interaction with the new features.
Many people are having serious serious issues with some of these bugs. All it takes is for someone to start competing more directly with this game and all of a sudden Cryptic will realize the err of their ways. But then it will be too late.
[/ QUOTE ]
It would be catastrophic for them to also not add any new content in a large period of time just to fix bugs. It is a money making scheme, and they have to do what will keep them alive. -

Hey Castle, crazy idea:
Let's take away -ATTACK- rooting on both players -and- A.I. mobs!

That way you really couldn't stop kiting. -

I could understand a game like Manhunt getting folks riled up... I never even saw the finale of it. Quit when I got to pigboy.
The game depressed me. There was an actual, negative, physical response to it. Took a while, though.
Regardless, I'm glad I live in a country that allowed me the RIGHT to play it and make my OWN judgement about it.

I'm with ya. Let me choose.
Now here is what is funny about a couple of the folks on that video.
If you look at their record, they have been all for loosening the reigns that are around prime time television, a form of media that is harder to control within a specific household since once you have a TV, there is a wide variety of things that can be viewed even with parental blocks, but feel VGs, a good that you have to buy very specific items to acquire "bad" material, are where they need to censor.............Huh.
Nah, there can't be ANY sort of political gain that these folks were looking for. -
[ QUOTE ]
IMHO, i think the people who made that video only put Statesman in there because their Inv/SS Tank got nerfed....
Other than that, absolutely unbelivable that CoX was in that video.....and on a funny note? Some of us that are police officers play GTA....and we tend to know its not the video games that make kids shoot at us, but censoring videogames is a lot easier than getting a 17 yr old off crack, so which do you think theyre gonna try to get done? Yep, the ol' censor it game
[/ QUOTE ]
Video Games influence people sure. But so do movies, music, that guy talking over there......everything can. Maybe if we had more of a precedent to just teach people right from wrong.
The main thing I see here, and what our friends in washington seem to forget, is that people were killing each other before all this stuff was in existance. You are going to do things you have a tendency for regardless. Can some of these things encourage a tendency that you already have? You'd be foolish to think otherwise.
But depressed people listen to depressing music
Religious people read religious literature
Violent people play violent video games
Not all the people that participate in those activities ARE that way, but because those activies attract those types of people, it is blamed for the problem, or perceived problem.
As has been stated many times, you can blame all those "hands-off" parents of today for not trying to mold the little ones correctly by holding off until the right time to expose them to certain things. And in a few cases holding off TOO long. <---That's for a few other things though.
(On a side note, tradgically there is a high volume of single parents. Although many do a fantastic job, one parent is going to have a harder time IN GENERAL for meeting the full spectrum of a childs needs and in turn just gives them whatever they can to calm them down/get them out of their hair.) -

I've played games like that.
Unforunately, I live in Canada which means that whatever the States decides we'll likely be right on their heels.

Hey, at least they decided to go metric. -

You might as well start bashing gays, irish, blacks, and women if you are going to bash religion. Why leave anyone out. See no difference in the intolerance.
Keep that stuff out of the forums plz

You shouldn't have replied. There's a vast difference between hating a PERSON and hating a BELIEF structure.

It IS a life style, so [censored] applies none-the-less. You still have no businees attacking that sort of thing. And that post was just the furthest down the list, I could pull up some better ones from this thread, but decided to grab a mild one.
(For the record, I am not just some religious nut. I mentioned those others because those are all things I have also told people not to post on since I've been on the forums there is no real connection between religion and the yahoos in that video, therefore irrelevant. About as relevant as the oh so intelligent people that blamed the "right" wing for the film.) -

All kidding aside, it baffles me every time I see someone refer to their character as their "toon"... Maybe it's because I'm a P&P RPGer and not a video gamer, but where in the heck did that originate? I think it sounds pretty silly.
Thanks

I feel the phrase "roll up a new <insert prefered title>" is a dumb phrase to be used in reference to a VG. But I live with it. -
Clarification:
My opinion is NOT that Stalkers should be shuned. My opinion is NOT that it is totally correct that people do shun them. My opinion IS that the reason they don't get invites to the RSF has close to NOTHING to do with people feelings in the AT as a PvPer. My opinion IS that a Stalker DOES hurt your team and anyone trying to succeed would rather opt the Stalker out for a Brute as their melee fighter. I feel that they should all have their place in that SF. Hell, they SHOULD have put something in that made it to where you HAD to have every AT on your team. Or at least made it to where they would make it a lot faster or easier some where with-in the SF.
My prior post was made in reference to the several post where people stated that it was more because of personal feelings that Stalkers don't get invited. I should have quoted better, and I apologize for the confusion. I made a mistake. -

[ QUOTE ]
Another reason why they hate us is because due to how the Devs designed us we have to go after the weak or hurt characters.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly. The stalker is custom made for cheap and easy kills, which attracted a certain playerbase to them. There are some good players that play stalkers, but there are a lot of bad players that latched onto stalkers and are more common.
The reason why /rads do so well against AV's, is that those AV's have specific boosts that rads are designed to counteract. Stalkers do so poorly because those same strengths happen to be a stalker's achille's heel.
I don't think secondary effects to the attacks will help. The only real solution I see to balance stalkers is reducing reliance on AS'ing into oblivion to survive. E.g. reducing the AS damage while raising hit points, and then giving a bump to regular attacks to make up for the lost damage from the AS.
It'd make stalkers a lot more scrapperish, but would still maintain a lot of stealthy flavor.
[/ QUOTE ]
Give me a break. The reason Stalkers don't get invites to the freakin' RSF is because people fail too often as is, and the more precise the team, the better chance you have. Maybe this is a reason why they picked up less then Dominators, but I have never sent an invite to a Dominator or a Stalker unless there was already a strong team of 7 and we bring them along for the ride. A Stalker is never as useful as a brute, just as a Dominator is never as useful as Corruptor. The need to succeed is what make it where you don't get invites. -

We are constantly datamining PvP, seeing which side is winning more. The results are not what you expect. One side wins, then the other side, then the balance shifts back, and then back again.
[/ QUOTE ]
The data is probably useless because there are so few people doing it at any one time all it takes is a couple of extra players on either side to swing the balance of power. Certainly doesn't help with you get some yahoo that can do nothing but buff come in and take over an EB Heavy and turn it into an AV quallity ally that they can control.
[/ QUOTE ]
You are full of it. Why would that even matter, when most of the time it is really whoever is the most organized wins. You could have 6 heroes preventing 15 from leaving the base in Siren's call just because they have their stuff together, and the villains don't pay as much attention because there is more of them. I have seen 8 Villains charge into the heart of the Fort in BB with at least 12 Heroes trying to stop them at any given time. It's not so much that the zones are so empty, as to the fact that a crack squad can dominate. Even if it were more populated, it would be whoever had two or three crack squads running around as opposed to one. Numbers don't turn the tide in CoX, organization does. It has been proven in PvP so very often. -

Randomly Generated SG Base Missions
Originally suggested by: Pyrotechnic, as far as I know.
Category: Control Aux
Customizable? N
Type: Unlocked/Crafted
Description: For when the new telepad beacon comes out that teleports you to an active mission, I suggest the mission computer dispense randomly generated door-missions (like the newspaper) only accessible through the telepad beacon, allowing a person to run missions without leaving the comfort of their own base. This would also give people more reason to spend time in their base.
Limitations: To avoid having the mission stuck in your mission log should you lose SG membership/access to a telepad with a mission beacon, the missions could all be timed, like the PvP door missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think Randomly generated SG Missions should be given out by that (currently useless) Mission Computer.
I also think it would be great if SG missions could auto side-kick/exemp everyone to the same level as the mission taker. That would be really helpful for Super Groups.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't like the auto-sk thing. I makes it more of a goal to get your toon up in levels. Not to mention 7 toons SK'd in a mission would be a bad thing. You wouldn't have the powers to take on the mission. Just like in real life and the comics, people without the proper training need to be left behind, unless you have enough vets to facilitate the rookies.
Auto-Mal is just fine though -
[ QUOTE ]
They never should have named the AT, Tank. The name we always used for the big overly-muscled guy who could take damage and dish it out in melee is Brick. IE... He hits like a ton of bricks. Hitting him was like hitting a brick wall. ETC....
[/ QUOTE ]
I've never heard that used before. Just like you want Brick I want Tank. That is a minor (if any) problem. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
PBAoE's such as Whirling Mace are limited to the number of critters that take damage -- in this case, up to 10 critters.
[/ QUOTE ]
So if you miss everyone of them you taunt nothing?? I think there should be a min of at least 5.
[/ QUOTE ]
He said limited to 10, not taunt only the ones you hit. He didn't say anything about having a drastically different effect. It just caps at 10 instead of 5. That was what I got out of it.
(Castle could you clairify please) -
Tankers would be better off getting an auto 2% defense. Crazy, maybe. Would anyone complain, sure. But it may be nice to see a defensive AT power on a defensive AT
-
[ QUOTE ]
I also like how this is pretty much saying that one power in the set (TH) appears to be designed to counter anothers penalty. I wouldn't mind it if Tough Hide did something else, but does it appear odd to anyone else that the reason you should pretty much take that power is to counteract another?
[/ QUOTE ]
Except you can enhance it. That wasn't the initial intention since it WAS unyielding stance and tough hide was still around back then. This has been a suggestion of mine for quite sometime. Many props to the devs for making this change so that brutes and scrappers aren't at a disad. -
[ QUOTE ]
While an expose on the Knives would be interesting, as of now, there really isn't much to this group. There are only three types of enemies (one of each rank), and they all have the same powers (with higher ranked ones having additional powers).
If more types of Knives are added to the game, as well as an Elite Boss or AV, plus some arcs that give a backstory, then that'd be different...
[/ QUOTE ]
Didn't I fight an EB a bit ago for the Knives in the Mako Campaign, or was he on another team? -

While it is new content in that a new instance has been created with mission type content and rewards, it has forced PvP content installed along with it.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's not how it works at all. There are no mission type rewards - you don't get XP for the mobs, and you only get some at the end.
Also, the whole point of the trial is to enable base raid PvP. That is what it is for. The PvP aspect isn't tacked on or 'forced', it's the trial's raison d'etre.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's pretty lame, IMHO, that to get some of the more nifty bits, like some of the nice base enhancements, players are essentially forced to play a way they may or may not want to play, i.e. PvP in the form of "base raids".
This is about as lame as forcing someone with CoH only to have to buy CoV just to get access to the SG bases themselves, even though the base portals are in CoH itself.
So much for allowing players 100% freedom to play how they want and have access to things whether or not they want to PvP or not.

Didn;t you get a free month and extra slots. Quit complaining. They have to stay in business. -
Man. This is some following. BIG RED BALL FANS, now is YOUR chance to Vote on the Power Sets YOU want to see in CoX
