What about IBuyPower?

Quote:That's not at all what he said. He's saying that the original source material is heavily edited--so they'd be better off selecting comments from something that isn't a mouthpiece for Paragon Studios. So they should post negative comments on their product? I assume that is what you meant.
They're basically using comments they wrote themselves to endorse the game, and attributing them to others.***
***EDIT: This came out wrong. What I mean is, it's like the audience in an infomercial. -
So what you're saying is that pretty much everybody got this back in late October/early November, except for a few outliers.
That's weird, but I understand. -
Quote:And now Media Blitz is fully live.I was more bothered by the player testimonials which appear to come from the City of Heroes Facebook page - which they admit that they screen/edit the comments from.
If you go out of your way to remove negative comments, you don't get to use the remaining positive comments for promotional purposes.
You sent out an e-mail advertising that something had gone to beta...on the day it went live. -
-
Anyone else get a copy of this in their inbox today? I don't dislike it--far from it. I'm generally excited every time I get an e-mail from Paragon Studios. But how could this be improved?
Well, first off--the news could be...new. Media Blitz started beta testing in October. This should not have been the big banner across the top. Similarly, the banner suggests that this it the big news for November. Last I checked, that was last month. This is my big sticking point. The WST calendar is new, so is the ad for the Gunslinger pack. The ads are new, but the news is old.
Secondly, it appears to be exclusively tailored to VIPs. The banner news is only and entirely about Incarnate content. This isn't bad, obviously we want people to salivate over the paying portion of the game...but there should at least be some Premium/F2P news on there as a token thought.
Lastly, and I recognize this is a personal thought, I could do without the player endorsements. If people are getting this e-mail because they're on the Paragon Studios mailing list...then they're already fans of some extent. Replace that with another market item or two.
So. Thoughts? -
Quote:I take issue with the perspective of looking at I21.5 with the last eight years in mind, but I can't disagree with either of the above points.I personally feel that release quality has been improving for quite a long time. I agree wholeheartedly that issue 21.5 was a massive step backwards in that trend.
...
It was scheduled once and bumped. Then it was actually attempted and failed. They are trying to fix this stuff. It doesn't make me happy that it's not being fixed, but the apparent effort does count for something. -
Quote:You mean like how 21.5 was half-assedly pushed live, and how VIP accounts are still messed up for people? But that doesn't lead logically to some of the other things you've stated in your posts on this.
It's a trifecta, and one that has been going on for a while. I think I've been relatively tolerant of the board issues. I think I've been relatively tolerant of the VIP account stupidity, albeit less so for obvious reasons. And then they pushed I21.5 live when it clearly wasn't ready.
How is it hyperbole to opine that they clearly aren't meeting the standard of quality that we are used to? -
Masque, if you're interested in a sale, PM me what you're looking for.

Quote:Absolutely. Zwill is just the bearer of bad news. I still disagree with his choice to actually say that stuff was going to Lineage II, but I understand his decision.Just as long as we aren't making Zwill the scapegoat for these continued SNAFUs, I share your sentiment.
You lost me. Outside of complaining in the threads that are about these relevant issues, I don't understand how I've been "acting out." Similarly, I have experience more people disagreeing with me than agreeing. I understand that this is a personal total involving posts, messages, and PMs...but I have no other way to gauge how people feel. So far, it would seem that most people disagree with me, and that everything is fine. -
But according to many other posters, customer dissatisfaction is hyperbole and whining. :/
-
Nice work, OP. Now, go ahead and delete this thread and we'll know you know what you're doing.

Quote:Apparently, everything good and sensible has been reallocated to Lineage II. By the way, I got a nice PM from the mods about this thread.Actually, just throw the boards away entirely, and create a City of Heroes subforum under the Lineage II boards. Those boards appear to run the same version of vBB we do, and while they seem to have had their own issues with vBB at times, my preliminary testing suggests their boards seem to work just fine. So apparently there's a bug in vBB that makes it specifically incompatible with City of Heroes. How astronomically unlucky for us.
The obvious solution is therefore, since L2 is now f2p, all City of Heroes players should just make Lineage II accounts, make Lineage II forum accounts, and NCSoft should just let us use a subset of those boards.
No, I'm deadly serious.
I'm sick and tired of my account not working right, my game not working right, and my forums not working right. And when I complain, I'm called names. You guys are just awesome, thanks. -
First maintenance of December should be tomorrow...Titan Weapons and the big reveal of Whodunnit in SSA#4.

Please bear in mind that most of my criticisms are directed towards the "authentic" Blue King/Top Cow issues. Actually, the Blue King stuff was pretty good.
I have very little knowledge of player-made comics, which I hope to rectify with the link you have provided. Thanks! -
The clear solution being that I deserve my own banhammer to cleanse this filth from the game.

Quote:This^^^.I think Fulmens has worked as a third party on such trades and probably others here on the boards would be willing to do the same. I've only done these things a few times, and I've always been willing to front the money first since I'm usually the rich one, and also the one known on the boards and The Market channel. ^_^
I'd be happy to offer my services as well, and I have enough liquidity that no one should worry about ulterior motives from any party. -
Most of the CoH Comics I have seen are pretty bad. Especially the ones that try and force-feed game mechanics down our throats as part of the plot. IE, the Top Cow where Synapse accidentally earned an exploration badge, or Positron rewarded Castle with some Enhancements. Or, most egregiously, the board lore when Positron was fighting Requiem and not only "respecced himself" before battle but physically "ate some inspirations."
The redeeming stories were, for instance, exploring the nature of heroism like Hickman did with Cyrus Thompson. Certainly not the Vanguard Mary-Sueing all over the Phalanx. Really? Howling Twilight? We might as well write the epic tale of how Oil Slick was used to defeat the evolved Hamidon.
The player made comics tend to be all over the board. One in particular, which is mentioned above, is just barely verging on the homoerotic ramblings of large-breasted individuals. You read it, and then you wonder if something bad happened.
