Doesn't a birthday on Christmas Eve mean you're a werewolf?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, I think it just means you came pretty close to having delusions fo grandeur

    [/ QUOTE ]

You'll be pleased to know Aardy wasn't born in a manger.

He was in fact born on Krypton, and sent here by his father Aaard-El...
  2. yes, he's so cuddly isn't he? *flying hug*

    Happy Aarday...
  3. Christmas meal isn't too hard if you do all the prep ahead of time and don't try and charge through it.

    Tips:
    - defrost the damn thing properly first, in a bucket of cold salted water if possible (rinse and pat dry before roasting)
    - don't stuff it except very loosely with some onion quarters, maybe an orange or lemon, and some herbs and butter. Cook stuffing seperately and baste with turkey juices.
    - roast on a rack breast side down and baste regularly - or stuff herb butter under the skin of the breast and cover with bacon rashers.
    - sprouts are the work of Satan and should be banished from the Earthly plane. Instead, roast parsnips and glaze with a mixture of honey and lime juice before putting back in for last 20 min or so.
    - with everyone cooking at the same time, gas pressure and/or 'leccy wattage won't be as strong as usual, so don't assume the thing's cooked when the timer's up. Check with skewer (or meat probe: which is a great gadget for me, being both a food nut and CSI fan.)
    - do not be tempted to use turkeys to test bird strike against cars/trains unless properly defrosted first. It won't give the effect you're looking for, unless the effect you want is smashing through the target like a battering ram.

    - The Lightside / Darkside meter - with missions and options opening up based on your actions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This would be one of my top wishes too

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought you'd NEVER turn to the dark side? Even if we have all the good albums?
  5. ...erm...

Okay, dear devs, please bring me a pony, a plastic rocket, Nathan Fillion, a really big tub of belgian chocolate icecream and...

    - The Lightside / Darkside meter - with missions and options opening up based on your actions.

    - Vehicles. With fins. Big shiny fins.

    - The long-promised Moon/Orbiter Zone.

    - The chance to visit stately Sinclair Manor, meet Virginia Bowman and take Wyvern missions, break up a raid on a charity ball, and sneak into the MantiCave™.

    - Kirby Memorial Airport - so we can go fight crime in (instanced maps of) Paris, London, NYC, Sydney, San Fran and Key West. Not that there's a huge amount of crime in Key West, but it's good for recharging solar energy

    - Research Station Atlantis - explore the ruins of Mu by sub, meddle with the secrets of Hequat (if you dare!), fight or befriend the Coralax and discover hidden treasures that could reshape the world itself...

    - A Gadgets pool power set...
    -> L6(1): Police Baton
-> L6(2): An Aliens-style movement tracker gadget to even things up against pesky Stalkers and find recalcitrant hostages, while scaring the hell out of players. Come to think of it, a mission with REALLY FAST Rikti Guard Beasts coming in waves would be fun...
-> L14: Body Armour (as per Munitions Mastery temp power)
-> L20: Jet Bike - 2/3 the speed of SS with 2/3 the jumping power of SJ

    - More corsetry options and nifty boots.

...I'd settle for just Nathan Fillion, mind.
  6. I've had one recently - the elaborate tux from the Bridal set makes a really, really good Sharpe/high-end pirate-type military coat in black or silver with gold detailing. Can't remember who "inspired" me to this but thanks.
  7. Okay:
To all on Defiant: Happy Christmas and a wonderful new year.
A tous les Vigilants: Joyeux Noel et une Nouvelle Annee pleine de merveilles.
Zum Zukunft: Frohes Festen und alles Gute zum neuen Jahr!
To all on Union: Merry Christmas and... WAIT! I can see brass plates under that Santa suit! It must be a Nemesis Plot! *dramatic chord* TO THE SKIES! (OOC: ...and a happy new year)
  8. GR said a few days ago they were having issues with peer nodes (major Intarwebz packet distributors) and they'd killed off a couple. Might be a similar issue.

What happens in Vegas STAYS in Vegas!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Tip for next time: the rivers in Vegas are really quite small unless you're prepared to drive out to the Wash or Lake Mead, and that's really taking you away from all the other action and amenities.

If that sort of thing is your weight-filled burlap bag, try New Jersey or San Francisco for your next authentic MobTours™ holiday.
  10. *quietly starts typing "Everyone's A Little Bit N00b" musical sketch on Word to avoid it being lost by boardfail*
  11. And finally... Happy Birthday Mr. Guardiiiaaaannn...
  12. the word "AAAARGH" springs to mind. Barely scraped a bronze on the advanced course (with Sprint only).

However, I do now have Toothbreaker and a generous supply of canes
  13. OK, let's do this scientifically...

    - I had two DC's on Union during the peak rush.
    - I'm on Virgin (ex-NTL: this is still relevant).
    - I'm in Norwich (and therefore connect via Peterborough backbone node).

If the valiant NCSoft Network Ranger net.hamster is going to battle its way through the zombie children in the pipe and slice through the blockages, it needs to know where to start...
  14. If Big K's out there and has his ears on (and is still looking), I saw a gig going for a MMO German Community Co-Ord on El Reg's site... PM me if interested.
  15. Steam-powered Victorian work machine: 1024x800
    Home lappy: 1600x1050

Don't know whether this helps, but... I run a video-intensive site with about 1m UVs a month, and have Omniture tracking. This is what they say the most popular screen resolutions are for my site...

    1. 1024 x 768 40.8%
    2. 1280 x 800 23.8%
    3. 1280 x 1024 14.0%
    4. 1400 x 864 7.3%
    5. 800 x 600 4.3%
    6. 1600 x 1050 2.7%
    7. 1152 x 864 2.6%
    8. 1280 x 768 2.2%
    9. 1920 x 1200 0.6%
    10. 1024 x 600 0.4%

And for teh intarnetz as a whole (well, all the sites they track)...
    1. 1024 x 768 36.1%
    2. 1280 x 800 16.5%
    3. 1280 x 1024 13.0%
    4. 1400 x 864 7.0%
    5. 800 x 600 4.6%
    6. 1600 x 1050 4.5%
    7. 1152 x 864 2.7%
    8. 1280 x 768 2.4%
    9. 1920 x 1200 1.3%
    10. 1024 x 600 0.3%

Given that the main audience for my and other viddyo sites is "bored office workers goofing off", that probably explains the high prevalence of 800s and 1024s. I wouldn't worry about 800s too much, as if they can't support that high a screen res they're probably not gamer machines. OV_RealDark has a point - 1024s are pretty much core audience and a good standard.

There's some pretty weird resses out there, though - who the heck runs 3200x768??

    Shields UP!

sooo... how is everyone enjoying their FOTM scrappzor?

I'm certainly enjoying the damage output with Against All Odds running. Think I need to stack a few more DEF bonuses on before I tackle any massed ranks of bad guys unaided.

Don't have access to Mids at work, so here's a basic breakdown of where I've got to at 23:

    PRIMARY: Martial Arts
    - Storm Kick
    - Crane Kick
    - Focus Chi

    SECONDARY:
    - Deflection
    - Battle Agility
    - True Grit
    - Active Defense
    - Against All Odds

    POOLS
    - Air Superiority, Fly
    - Swift, Health, Stamina

    Next slots will probably be:
    24: Axe Kick
    26: Dragon's Tail
    28: Phalanx
    30: Grant Cover
    32: Eagle Claw
    35: Shield Charge
    38: One With The Shield
    41: Caltrops
    44: Targeting Drone
    47: Shuriken
    49: Hasten

Any advice? Do I need to try and work Heal Other/Heal Self in there too?
  17. I'm enjoying the new Merits system, simply because:

    - I like working through mission content anyway, and have really loved the new Mercedes Sheldon arc (though someone should point out - SPOILER: if the Magic Man's using time travel, why no Ouroboros Secret access?)

    - As I've said on various other threads, I rarely have two hours contiguous gaming time that I can work through a TF on. But, working through the arcs, I've now built up enough for a Trial roll just doing what I enjoy
  18. Yep, seems to be working out okay on the mez resistance score, so long as I remember to auto the darn thing.

Still a tiny bit on the squishly side at L23, but improving all the time
  19. Have now wiped all my old PMs - bar one from _Doc_ , to whom I still apparently owe a tub of Ben & Jerry's. No idea if that address is still current, but best sort something out soon... ( _Doc_ - if you got your ears on, good buddy, y'all come back and let me know your twenty...)

however its a great excuse to make flsh gordon hawkmen...

    DIIIIIVEE!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, you might be a bit late there too...(WHAAAAT?? CLICKY GOODNESS??)

Tips for making your own Hawkman at home:
    - Angel veteran wings in black and gold
    - Bare chest/arms, Samurai or Cimerora armour chest detail
    - Samurai or round black helmet with crest of your choice (2nd Samurai one works best)
    - Beard (for Hiro, grey, and use a Cimerora helmet or headband wings: for Vultan's other sidekick, skip helmet for Brian May mulletude)
    - Add boots/shoulderpads/belt etc to taste
    - Talk only IN FULL CAPS ON BROADCAST[/b]
  23. Wow Is he a fan of Bruce Timm (my favourite Harley Quinn artist) by any chance?
  24. Heh - me too. Actually does look really good... though I'm ruing the lack of a low-level selfheal and going through blues like there's no tomorrow.

Also, having mez resist as a clicky is going to suck soooo much if it's not really fast recharge...

    New website! :D

KEEN! Like it very much, and removes the text-to-Flash script that looked pretty but slowed it down on ye olde wonder of Victorian science machines I use at work. (Any time you need to launch Photoshop, I have to call down to the boiler room for more steam.)

...hang on a minute, did GR get an individual base before we do? HAX!!
