Quote:ggSo are you saying that PvP zones are supposed to be more of a gentleman's sport like area?
"Excuse me good sir. I will now proceed to attack you, please sir will you kindly inform me when this exchange of blows become too uncomfortable for you and your ego so that I will refrain from stomping all over it. "
No sorry, PvP zones is probably the worst place to learn to pvp. If you want to really learn and have fun, the best place is the arena. Kickball matches are a great place to get to smash someone's face in for 10,15, or hell 30 minutes.
Zones are the wildwest. And 99% of the time, it contains most "jacktards".
Most jacktards won't go into the arena cause there's no base to run to. There's no heavy to help them. When you're in the arena, you're in a virtual boxing ring.
Anyways, long story short, if you wanna have real fun. Go to the arena. Zones are a bad place to start. -
Quote:Truewell you had the privelidge of learning to pvp when the server's pvp population was fairly high and had a good amount of skill. during this time many of those skilled players were currently competing on test and if they werent doing officials they were practicing against other test groups or just doing for fun pvp in zones (where you would encounter them) so at the time arena was dead (no such thing as practices on live) these days however zones are poppin for a lil bit then die instantly, hardly a way to consistently improve. however a few friends in the arena could practice several different things (ie. hard to practice your evasion in the zones, when your constantly the chaser and not evader)

Quote:Well I started PvPing in zones (when Sirens wasn't a wasteland). I'd say at that time I probably learned more there then I ever would have in the arena. But to each their own.the nature of zone pvp calls for a certain degree of imbalance, theres no clear cut method to ever balance fighting in a zone with so many factors to take into account such as skill level, AT usage, and teaming. Plus the whole hero vs villain thing, zones are a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE place to learn to pvp. while it is a good place to promote interest in pvp or the occasional zone wide large scale battle royale of doom for fun (as to allow you to hop in, button mash and hopefully come up with a kill)
to really learn pvp a more controlled enviorment helps alot. (cough arena cough) which everyone typically overlooks. dont get me wrong, its certainly possible to learn how to player a really good stalker in zones by trial and error, but due to low zone activities, generally lower skill level etc it will take alot longer.
Either way, have fun on other servers. -
Having played 7 rads (3 trollers, 3 fenders, and 1 corr) can say this is a good guide.
However I never took fallout, mutation, choking cloud, or EMP. Probably because almost all my rads had pvp in mind. But even for pve, the above 4 powers arent necessary. AM, RI, EF, LR, and heal is really all you need to win as a rad. Which in and of itself is nice because you can then work with sets that are tighter or dip into pool powers more. -

Quote:*shrugs* I still post cause I like to, as much as I have lost total interest in the game, I still like the communityCouple things real quick, take no offense...
But I dont understand why people who dont play anymore, make an effort to reply to something that is or going to be taking place, with nothing important to say. Please don't take it the wrong way, you arent the only person who does this.
I know when I stopped playing, my account was off and I stopped posting.
And like I said to many people before. If the ladder fell apart because I was gone, being a 1st time father..I dont know what to tell you. We have plenty of intelligent people who pve and pvp on this server who could have easily picked it up and ran with it.
As to the ladder falling apart, well I never said anything about why it fell apart, and ill leave it like that.
And sorry void, I'm not gonna put time into stripping any of my toons. My account is still active for a couple more months anyways. -
Well, I might have joined, if I actually still played this game. Although I'd probably be expecting it to fall apart like last time.

This would have been great 3-4 years ago... Just saying
Cool that it actually happened. -

Quote:You spelled everything correctly and did not have a wall of caps locked text.Yo Elkie, I'm gonna spell this out Elk-style:
The Elimination- The Elimination Round will consist of three 3-vs-3 matches.
- Players will be randomly assigned to a team by the event host.
- Players will be reassigned to a new team between each match.
Say ELF STALKER walks into Pocket D, gigiddy.
You could get paired with Shrouded Kara, my Ill/Emp and with En3my of Man. Or you could get paired with a Kin/Elec Catgirl with pink lightning and a Stone/EM Tanker. OR you could get paired up with Stalkers if Stalkers show.
When I did dis thang on Infinity, yo...My Ill/emp was paired first round with two Scraps I think, then with a Stalker and MM, then....
So dig homey, you want your all Stalker team, your Elk Patrol, make sure you win your matches and make sure your Stalker hombres did deep yo, and AS like it's Issue 6. Then you'll have your Elk herd and get wit da pom poms and Eagle's Claws, yo.

Quote:For controllers in RV:But i have some of each of those, so why would i add them in as AT's i can't currently play in RV?
Actually, all my high level controllers are on other servers, so i could've mentioned Controllers.
Any suggestions as to powersets?
/Mind (passes positional defense, knockback, confuse, short animation hold) or /Earth control (-def, hard hitting hold, quicksand)
/Rad (travel suppression & self heal)
/primal forces mastery (power boosted holds are win)
Emps and therms for team zone pvp of course also work, but I personally cant stand all the self induced travel supression
Bubblers can also be a pita cause of force bolt (high mag kb) and and force bubble (repel, large radius -stealth)
Rads though....
edit: TBH though, any controller would work in zone pvp if you have a team willing to spike mezzed targets. -

Quote:Inspirations bring (lol)balance to pvp, they fill holes in builds, and make more builds viable. Alhough I would say they we're more necessary pre-i13, (breakfree's are about as useful as awakens now, and DR hits stacking insps pretty hard), they are still a very large part of the pvp game. They add another level to it, and make you think, what insps do I need to bring to make up for what this build lacks and counter whatever I am fighting, when do I use them, and will I be able to last 10 minutes on the insps I have chosen.I love PvP'n, idk what pre-i13 PvP was like so im not goin to comment on that but i do have a opinion on Inspire use and I wouldnt say that im an expert, far from it infact but i frequent RV now and again on my Invul/EM tank that would benefit heavily from inspire use and i still dont use 'em.
My thoughts are that you will never hit the Damage cap using any power without some outside help (team buffs) and for a toon to pop 8 big reds, 3 big purples is wrong, IMO. Why build up a toon and IO it out if you're goin to use inspires? Answer, because its easier to kill your opponent. I understand people want to dominate other players but where is the fun if there is no danger? I want to be challenged not just blaster hop around tryin to get a hit through soft-capped defense, i hate the long drawn out fights. Im not afraid to die but if i die from a 800 point AS, a 600 point ET and a 500 point TF, with the whole time me spamming my lowsy 300 point ET and 200 point TF that just dosnt get through the defense, thats when i get p***ed.
Tell me, how would i end a fight quickly against a soft-capped Stalk?
Because, aside from Elude, Retsu and Accolades there is no way to get to the soft-cap without inspires.
This isnt an attack mate, im all for PvP. I just want to understand why you would build up different toons and spend millions on IO's and hours on badging when you could just use purples and reds and then just mash buttons. Wheres the skill in that?
Powers like, Elude, Retsu, Hibernate, Phase etc, im all for because its a power and for you to work it into your build shows some skill. Wheres the skill in hitttin F1, F1, F1, F1, F1, F1, F1, F3, F3, F3...
Oh, i saw nothing on Heavies or gettin Droned. Where do you stand on the use of these pokemons?
And again, not an attack on you personally mate, i just want to at least try to understand why people think Inspires are good to use.
You don't have to use inspirations, but everyone else will, because they are part of the game, are meant to be used and utilized.
Oh and have fun fighting that therm with no blue insps. -
Quote:Well, in my opinion, if someone doesn't like pvp (or certain changes made to the previous pvp) they shouldn't at all have to do it, as it's their 15 a month and they spend that time how they want, however it does sounds like En3my should be seeing you in RV.It seems that those who are shying away from the PvP invitation are doing something similar as not looking a rabid pitbull in the eye. Generally, that is a good idea.
However, I tend to look at pitbulls very squarely in the eye. Perhaps I am going about it all wrongÂ…or am I?
<stares intently at the pitbull> -
I got Dread Wrecked from 37-42. Yeah, I failed. Got a bunch of lvls in Aion though, without double xp

-
We're nearing about 20 people in the "champion server" legions in Aion. And I'm sure theres many others from Champ not in the legion playing Aion.
Then there is CO which people have been playing....
And School has started up again for many people.
All that takes away from CoH time. -

Quote:lvls 1-20 was very smooth. The game and quests were paced well here. After lvl 20 the combination of less quests to do and more xp needed to lvl certainly makes it a bit grindy. Case in point, I have 2 lvl 21s and 1 lvl 18 stuck cause the only way im gonna get further is by killing masses of mobs one by one, instead of riding quest xp bonuses. At lvl 17ish the teaming picks up and more people start looking for teams.
After 20 the PvP start being the main point of the game so more people are gonna look for teams.
As for the grinding post 20.. well i'm only 19 yet so I'll tell you tonight or tomorrow lol
Most of the quests in the game so far are designed better for solo play. Just the way it was set up you can usually get more progress done solo, All the collection quests will become harder in a group because you'll be fighting over the same clickables and then having to wait around on respawn timers. Then there is the multitude of go talk to this or that person quests where you get no benefit for teaming.
However, there are also quests designed for groups, where you have to fight mobs that are too powerful to fight solo. Each one in comparison to coh is somewhere in between the strength of an EB and the hp of an AV. You basically can't solo them unless yer a cleric or chanter, so at that point you end up having to (or getting to, whichever your mindset is) team cause you dont really have a choice if you want to advance. In the LFG channel pretty much the only thing you'l see if people looking to join groups for the quests designed for groups. If it can be solo'd and you wanna team you're SOL. PvP will also be very team oriented from what I've seen so far. -
