Thanks a bunch. I knew I would feel silly asking that I did find salvage descriptions on the wiki but my search fu is very weak and I didn't see the chart you linked.
-
I've been away for a looong time and just came back to all the new cool stuff. I made a dual build and went to create a mess of IOs to populate the slots. It seems that the lower level salvage can be hard to find so finally my question. Is there a source that tells the level of certain salvage so I know what alt to mission with hoping to get some pieces?

Here's the thing... did anyone not know that Freedom has the highest population and that this event would bring more players online over the weekend? Are you going to tell us that there was nothing you could have done to prevent this on your own? Like tell your friends, "Hey, in case the server gets too full, maybe we should make some alts someplace else."
[/ QUOTE ]
Why even use double XP if you're going to then have to create new characters just for the event?
People are majorly overreacting to the lockouts IMO, but that is a flawed argument.
[/ QUOTE ]
Because you can play those alts year-round. I doubt many people would create alts specifically to play only during double XP events. The point is that you don't put all your eggs (characters) in one basket (Freedom), that's all.
[/ QUOTE ]
To be fair, though, there are a lot of people who make one server their playing home. Their friends are there, all their alts are there, they have people they regularly team with, and so on.
If Pinnacle had been blocked over the weekend, my entire SG would have had to message each other and say, "Um, wanna all make L1 toons somewhere, or just wait?" Because the toons we wanted to level were all on that server. I wanted to get my empath past the late 30's doldrums, not start a whole new toon that most likely I would never play again.
[/ QUOTE ]
I certainly can sympathize with anyone getting locked out of their home server this weekend, I know I would be bummed. But I would also expect making my home on the busiest server comes with possible downfalls. Just like people on say, Protector and it's lower population, have the downfall of possibly having fewer teammates to choose from.
One thing they could do is lock server transfers to the busiest 2 servers or limit any new accounts from creating characters there but there would be a whole lot more outcry from that then having 6 days out of the year with the possibility of no access during an event. Like MissInformed pointed out it's impossible to make all the people happy all the time.
Just in closing I had a great weekend, no lag, lots of players, everyone I played with was nice and helpful. This was by far one of the most fun weekends on CoH I've had in a long while. Good work Devs -

User Agreement (refer to Section 10).

(a) NC Interactive reserves the right to interrupt the Service from time to time on a regularly scheduled basis or otherwise with or without prior notice in order to perform maintenance. You agree that NC Interactive will not be liable for any interruption of the Service, delay or failure to perform resulting from any causes whatsoever.
(b) You acknowledge that the Service may be interrupted for reasons beyond the control of NC Interactive, and NC Interactive cannot guarantee that you will be able to access the Service or your Account whenever you may wish to do so. NC Interactive shall not be liable for any interruption of the Service, delay or failure to perform resulting from any causes whatsoever.
I refered to this earlier. In the event of a server outage where nobody can connect I can see how this would apply. But this is not a case of servers been down or service being interrupted for all players. This is a case of "we are going to let some people but not others. Who determines who gets in and who dosen't? A creative and industrious player could even make a case for discrimination.
The EULA applies to everyone.. not just some players. If the servers are down, fine, I can accept that. It already happens a lot. But if access is being given selectively and "interruptions of service" are happening selectively, I don't believe the EULA is shield for that.
[/ QUOTE ]
How conveniently you left off the rest of section 10:
(c) NC Interactive has the right at any time for any reason or no reason to change and/or eliminate any aspect(s) of the Service as it sees fit in its sole discretion.
(d) NC Interactive shall not be obligated to refund all or any portion of any Account fee or Additional Feature fee by reason of any interruption of the Service by reason of any of the circumstances described in paragraph (a) or (b).
So because you choose to play on a high population server you would rather they did what exactly, have them lock all servers if they need to lock Freedom and Virtue so it would be fair to you?
Please, believe it or not the world revolves around the sun, not you. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm usually a big supporter of the Devs but I have to say this kind of blows. All my main characters on Freedom. So if I get locked out... what does that mean? That the money of the people who didn't get locked out is better than my money? Someone else has more rights than me?
If I'm paying... I should be playing... end
[/ QUOTE ]
Well it just goes to show that trying to be proactive will just bring out the torch and pitchfork folks. IF they have to lock a server, then let's all go crazy but honestly the hardware is new and I don't recall server lockouts last time 2X XP weekends happened, so everyone just breathe.
And the money of someone who does not play on Freedom or Virtue is the same as yours except they don't play on the highest load servers, seems like common sense to me. Would you have them automatically move half the players off Freedom and Virtue for the weekend to avoid this POSSIBILITY? But then you would get the screamers "but now my friends are over there and I'm stuck on ***** server" Really people hardware has limitations and getting a heads up on a remote possibility is not any reason to go nuts. -

So...I questioned your statement that a power is useless because a) ONE monster in the ENTIRE GAME can shoot through it and b) it has a 30 second timer, and you responded with that much bile? Wow.
[/ QUOTE ]
Because now that Hami has "adapted" this ability, the door is wide open for other foes to magically "adapt" this ability. What's to stop the devs from giving giant monsters, Lusca, the Ghost of Scrapyard, any/all of the signature heroes and villains, or any number of zone monsters and AVs the ability to ignore phase shift? In a single word: nothing. And the rationale? "Well, they adapted like all living organisms do."
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, they could do that.
They can do anything they damn well want, ultimately.
I don't see them doing that for non-endgame content, because I think it would be stupid.
You may thing Hamidon's design is stupid. I don't, for reasons stated. If things that poke through phase shift and hibernate start showing up in door missions then I'll be on the bandwagon with you.
Simply because they did it in this particular case doesn't mean they're dense enough to do it everywhere.

What I would like to see is "new" powers given to mobs instead of using the same powers we have but not following the same rules. If we can't stack vengeance neither should the mobs, come up with something creative instead. I hate to use the word realism because this is a game about comic heroes, but it is frustrating to have our species (heroes) "devolve" while mobs "evolve". -
I think we all figured this out for ourselves but just thought I would let everyone know Castle replied to my PM and Critters in safeguard missions do have increased perception, working as intended.

yea, I ran a safe-guard with superspeed on and all mobs could see me like it wasn't running
[/ QUOTE ]
Were they mobs that shoulted something like Longbow do in villian mayhems? That indicates its an ambush and they know where you are. Are the standard group standing around not doing any thing attacking you as you walk up to them? I haven't had the chance to do hero missions yet, but I assume every so often your going to get Resisted Arrest!....0:30 Seconds! type messages which do occur at random intervals I think. You don't have to kill anything, when I have reached certain distances with my stalker it would trigger the mission or it was a certain time persoid.
[/ QUOTE ]
I concur when I did my safegaurd missions with Superspeed I wasn't even close to the malta and they would turn away from blowing up boxes and such to fire on me from a long distance. This definetly is not the perception that malta in regular missions or even on the street have. I tested it by running through (within 10ft) of some on the street and they didn't even look at me. But in the safegaurd missions they see me and shoot even if I run past at up to 60ft. I wonder if it's a stealth bug in safegaurd missions? or maybe working as intended to make it difficult to complete, all I can say is thank goodness for status protection, I wouldn't try that with my blaster -

It's not an official Issue release until a missing patch note has been confirmed.
Also, trying to add challenge by breaking the rules of the game (attacking while held) is not a good path to walk down.
My outlook on the game's future is a bit more reserved now.
[/ QUOTE ]
Amen. Whenever the players find a better way to play the game the devs seem to jump up and down and say "you can't do that, that's not the way I want it done!" Changing the rules that everyone else has to play by just to keep players following your contained vision is just a bad precedent. -
So long Sun, though I'm sure we haven't heard the last from you....

For those of you complaining about the seriousness of this crime you really need to take a chill pill and relax. I'm sure every instance of missed patch notes has been an oversight that the Devs regret. I'm sure none of you have forgotten anything at work ESPECIALLY when it involved the work of several people culminating results. The effort these guys go to making patch notes available has been very impressive to me (much better than some other unmentioned MMORPGs). I applaud them. I REALLY applaud the fact they fess up to their mistakes and apologize; they're almost human o.O

Any decent project manager out there knows how to keep track of revisions and changes or else the project gets skewed from it's track. How hard is it to put a piece of paper on the wall, and as you make a change note that along with the build number? Then when it is time to release make your notes from everyone's paper(overly simplistic example for sarcasm). Yes accidents happen but over and over again? I'd love to be able to tell my boss, oops forgot that, but after the 20th time I'd be looking for a new job. -
I won't deny lots of people did this, that would be ignorant but you can't dump everyone in that group. I just loved feeling like an immovable mass. 15 baddies, hell make it 50. The problem with this or any game is you can never satisfy 100% of the people. I would have been happy dealing little to no damage to get my resistances back, others not.

MUHAHAHAHAHAHA
I remember, months ago, when the I5 changes were first announced, various posters saying (demanding?) that herding can be "fixed" with an AI change.
Well, here it is.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah but all those posts said fix the AI instead of gutting our resistances. oops guess they missed that part -
Did I enjoy herding?
Yes
Is it their choice to kill it?
Yes
The thing that angers me about this change is it's a stealth nerf. Why not just come clean and put it in the patch notes. You guys lose so much credibility everytime you "omit" things to let the player base find them and then call you on the carpet.
And my answer to the rebuttal that someone will no doubt post. No I don't buy it that it was accidently left off the notes. You'll never convince me that a detailed project like this cannot keep a master copy of changes, even a lousy project manager can keep track of the work that's been done. -

Second, were still scouring the boards for bugs and other issues, but weve finished making large changes to the power sets. Well still be looking at issues as the arise. For instance, there are issues with Defense builds; were going to look at that problem more carefully (the Damage Resistance Inspirations are a step, but there's a little more to come).
Thanks for all your great feedback!

Here's some feedback, YOU ARE A LIAR. I know you hate to be called that and would love to see how you tap dance around the massive enhacement changes as not a change to powersets. /em remembers a famous quote "I did not have sexual relations with that woman"
