  1. /signed here too I am not really interested in the powers or salvage spaces etc I just want to get my hands on the costume pieces. This is one of the very few criticisms I have with CoH ... its the one thing CO gets right! At least you can craft unlockables from level 1 there.

I still love CoH though just this little pain gets my back up.
  2. Yes players have received invites - I friend of mine in my SG has received one so he is frantically testing it at present along with a select few. I would not be surprised if we get an announcement very soon about it going into open beta either this week or next.
  3. This thread is hilarious - I am surprised it took so long to spawn!

I am English but have ALWAYS played on the US servers and the funny thing is I adopted the American way of spelling - my whole SG are English players and we have all either consciously or subconsciously dropped our 'u's and changed our 's's to 'z's (thats zed's for you Colonials).

I am looking forward to reverting to the Queens English

BTW in case anyone has missed it what about 'LIEU-tenant' and 'LEFT-tenant' or one to guarantee to make Statesiders chuckle 'rooster' and 'cockerel'

Keep up the laughs, pip pip and cheerio!
  4. Well let me say welcome to the Europeans from a European who plays on the North American servers (!?)

    PS Bring on i16 already

Oh I think it will take care of both. I have no reason to believe the difficulty slider will not work in AE. Therefore, I can play AE in peace without putting up with lowbies (which is why I avoid AE now).

I'm happy I can solo maps set for 8 in peace. I can't wait:

PL Beggar: cna i jion ur taem?
    Me: NO.
    PL Beggar: *cries*

I have a feeling that the age of lowbies getting free rides is coming to a close, which is wonderful. Farmers can enjoy the game in peace. People that team will discover that the lowbies are starting to disperse from AE once they realize their free ride is over, and teaming just might make a comeback. You might even be graced with a farmer on your team - which usually means the team just got a bit better due to a tricked-out monster being on your team. It just keeps getting better.

I'm confused by this sorry if I do not understand - which zone are you taking your AE missions in?

I go to Peregrine with my 50's when I want to do AE missions - never see any lowbies there
  6. Curses I'm a European (well British anyway) and I have always played on the US servers to avoid all those bloody foreigners! And now their invading

    *joke*
  7. Damnable time zones! LOL

I wish I had Doctor Cortex's Temporal Amplifier Chronoton Particle Ray Gun.

Damos, you can buy the booster just like the Mac pack with 1 month of game time and the booster for 20 bucks?

One possibility as to why we are paying for more is because people are dropping like flies from this game and the devs need to make up for lost revenue.

I wonder what the next booster will be? Can we get a natural, mutation or science booster? My vote goes for Mutation

    [/ QUOTE ]

I remember reading in an interview somewhere that indeed each of the initial booster packs are origin based. The one after the magic was likely to be natural and gangster themed. Trying to find a linky.
  9. Nah these are optional costume additions - they will still add new ones to standard issues.

Its up to you whether you want to buy the themed packs or not.
  10. Hehe I am in the UK and have been playing on the US servers since CoH beta (what strange hold have you Stateside got over me!)

Its midday here and I have been waiting for the booster for hours!

Hope we do not crash the boxes with everyone buying at once!? DOOOM

Is it possible to create a custom character and then add them into a preexisting enemy group? One thing that has always bugged me in CoH is that fighting named bosses is for the most part a disappointment in that they are the same generic boss looks-wise as any other boss, named or otherwise, in that villain group. Ergo making a boss for say the Outcasts that doesn't look like any other Outcast boss.

One would imagine so as if you look at the MA screen shots there are drop downs for selecting the mob faction that the character is aligned with - some confirmation would be nice though if anyone knows out there?
  12. [ QUOTE ]

Yet, first impressions are the most important. MA arcs are not like regular game content. We have more of a choice about whether we do them. Game content we have to do, if we want what follows. I can't count how many times I've rescued Fusionette in the Faultline arc, because that arc is a good way to get the Ouroboros badge before you're high enough to just go to Ouroboros. If we could START with the actual time travel mission, I'm sure a lot of people would.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree with this to a certain degree but I feel that you can only get a 'cosmetic' first impression with CoX missions. You walk in the door and the only judgment you can really make is based on what you initially perceive e.g. map and mobs.

You need to play the mission for a few minutes before you can really rate it. 30 minutes maybe too long as some missions can be completed by this time perhaps 15 minutes.

As for the comments this would be a nice to have option but it maybe open to more abuse enabling players to type whatever they like. I think it most likely you will just have an opportunity to mark it out of 5 for example. Its quick, easy and will minimize abuse.

These questions are towards the Custom critter system. xD

Q: How excatly does the custom critter system work? Are we allowed to pick a number of powers from sets? Or are the critters forced to use the whole set?

Q: Can we use more than just 2 sets? (Perhaps say, Having powers from Mind Control, Psi Blast, Mental Manipulation and Empathy?)

Q: Is it limited by enemy rank? Say, a Minion wouldn't be able to have as my powers as a Boss would.

Q: Can we take a 'Normal' critter, (Like say a Council human) and give him diffrent powers/attacks?

Q: Can we take one critter's powerset, and put it on another critter? (For example, give a Council human the Mook Hitman powers.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I too would love to know the answers to these questions.

In addition can we mix and match villainous critter archetypes? for example could I create a Stalker, Blaster, Mastermind and Controller on the same mob team/faction within a mission?
  14. I read in one of the MA preiview reports that they are playing with the idea of an improved base editor to produce your own maps but certainly not at launch.
  15. I have a question there are A LOT of posts here so apologies if it has already been asked/answered.

Will costume pieces of existing mobs/factions be available for new mobs/factions? for example could I use a Fifth Column helmet with Freak shoulder pads and so on for my new creations?*

    * This is an example it would look ridiculous ... although now I think on it.
  16. How about we talk about MA and story arcs, and the possibilities of some really good homegrown writing. The last few pages of this thread just seem to be arguing about badges.

I for one am really excited about not only creating some good stories but experiencing the quality of work from others.

    /unasked opinion mode on
I think they should start a new server. This server should keep the old PVP dynamics and be deemed an "expert level" server. This server should also allow heroes into the Isles and Villains into Paragon. All hazard zones should now be PvP zones with all City zones being co-op zones. I vote the name of the server is the "Shattered Shard"
    /unasked opinion mode off
    Feel free to discuss.....

    [/ QUOTE ]

Good idea then the whining would stop and those moaning PvPers will be on their own server (along with the other 150 players that PvP and are unhappy!) Seriously have you been in a PvP zone recently I have never known any more than about 12 players in residence at any one time.

Which would then leave the current servers containing the thousands of happy customers to play in peace
  18. I think the likelihood will be that the mission creator will only allow you to create instanced missions. Not sure how practical it would be to have Zone missions.

But I do have a question in the last issue they introduced new mission functionality to have conversation decisions - where when you talked to an NPC you could choose from two statements and depending upon the choice would determine the mission details - I wonder if this will be implemented in the Architect?
  19. I am so unhappy that its April Fools Day coz visual sounds would be cool!!!
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Is it possible that the new "Costume Set" category could take away from the individuality or creativity of the costume creator? Yes it may be easy sometimes when you don't need to look through every list of costume pieces, but wont everyone eventually just ignore the custom costume option and just pick the pre-made costumes?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Conceivably but it should also help rid us of those who have a complete lack of creativity (I'm talking about all you heroic "demonic wannabe's" types out there, yeh you know who you are!)
  21. Thought I would go for a more comic book feel with mine take a look here.
  22. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cryptic developing Deadlands Online next, great game Shane and good luck in all your future endeavours. You'll be sorely missed.
  23. A gifted scientist from an early age Dr Adler studied long and hard in various universities in the area surrounding Paragon City. After he graduated with full honours and a doctorate in Theoretical Gravitational Physics he was approached by the renowned geneticist Professor Solomon Abel. Abel had privately funded a research organisation and built an advanced research and development laboratory named the Eastwood Clinic. Due to the possibly hazardous experiments in scientific research that Abel and his organisation were to investigate the Clinic was built on one of the islands off the coast of Paragon City.

Unknown to Adler the Eastwood Clinic was a subsidiary of a much larger clandestine multinational criminal syndicate known as FEAR (Federation of Espionage, Assassination and Revolution) and his benefactor Professor Abel was really the villainous mastermind Doc Macabre. The Clinic was created for illegal 'power brokering' services it's mission to investigate and create super powered operatives to swell it's ranks. These individuals would then be employed in expanding FEAR's illicit activities and preventing super hero involvement in organised crime.

Adler's area of expertise was gravitational metaphysics and his particular position within Eastwood was to develop a primitive form of teleportation. The result of his experiments if they proved successful was to install teleportation devices in various localities around the world. Thus enabling instant transfer of medical goods and foodstuffs to places that were in dire need of them.

He became obsessed with his research so much so he moved into quarters within the Clinic to be closer to his work. A nine to five career eventually became a way of life and before long he was losing sleep as he constantly worked on new formulae, mathematical calculations and practical experimentation. It was inevitable that he would step on someone's toes as he demanded more and more funding as his final triumph seemed ever more closer. Senior management began to see the benefits that Adler's new gravitational theories might offer.

Adler's Laws as they were labelled by the scientific community could conceivably be employed for all manner of uses. But he was stubborn to share these with his fraternity, unhappy with their possible applications or that they might fall into the wrong hands. Abel decided secretly that these new gravitational hypotheses should be made available to FEAR and knew all very well that Adler would not part with them. Recruiting some of the syndicates hired muscle he planned a little 'accident' for Adler and would then take his research.

Working late one evening as usual Adler began to run a practical experiment in a colleagues laboratory. He would for the first time successfully teleport a bowl of fruit from one displacement device to another situated in the next lab. At the same time a pair of masked thugs approached the room across the rooftop and entered through a skylight. One of the hoods was to download Adler's data to microdisk while the other sabotaged one of the teleportation devices the plan, to cause an overload that would kill the unfortunate physicist. The operation was meticulously organised and went according to plan. With one fatal flaw - the lab was also being used for experiments in particle acceleration. The accelerators themselves had only recently been shutdown and they were leaking normally passive graviton particles into the air.

The overload in the equipment in turn caused the nearby particle accelerators to explode. Adler's molecules were intermingled with the sub-atomic graviton particles being emitted by the accelerators. Recovering several days later he found he could manipulate gravitons by sheer force of will. Swearing from that day onward Dr Benjamin Adler alias Dr Graviton would stop at nothing to bring those responsible to justice and has targeted organised crime and especially FEAR ever since.

    Time Travel

States has already mentioned quite some time ago. With the introduction of the Portal Corps ... um ... er ... portal he said that in the future it will be possible to visit the city zones in different time periods - the two he mentioned were the 1930s and an alternative future. So I am pretty sure it is on the cards but don't hold your breath it will be some time!
