  1. Definitely. I think maybe it's not up-front apparent you can do this in the game for most people. People probably either don't notice the buttons in the upper right of the costume creator, or don't know the costumes get saved as actual files. But let's hope it catches on.

Oh, be sure you de-select the "Link Colors" radio button after you load the costume, otherwise you'll mess up your costume. I noticed that when you load a costume this gets checked automatically even if you had it unchecked before the load.

[edit: Nevermind about the gender thing. I thought I did that once, but I'm mistaken.]
  2. Foxman looks like he can be a wiseass on a super team in a fight, like Hawkeye.
  3. Here's what I have.

    https://dl.getdropbox.com/u/247299/Foxman.costume
    https://dl.getdropbox.com/u/247299/Foxman.png

I wasn't too sure about the model, so I left it as Athletic and the head shape is just average. I did make his physique a little slimmer to be less bulky and more sleek.

I changed the bottoms to a brown and black stealth, the belt to a more utility/military looking one and gave him the black folded and leather strap boots. Copy the costume file to your costumes folder. It's for a shield hero, so load it with that power set created first. See if you like it, tweak it or toss it. Up to you.
  4. What's your overall idea for the toon? The first picture gives me the impression that he's some sort of superhero mercenary, elite officer or something (like someone from S.H.I.E.L.D. and not just because of the shield ). Foxman is the perfect codename for a highly trained operative. Personally I wouldn't make a literal interpretation in-costume of his name unless his back-story or personality demands it (otherwise you're just another player who wants to play a furry. lol ).

The best costume IMO is one that fits in with or describes in one glance that character's history. Develop a history and the costume will follow. You [u]usually[u] (not always) get very unique looks even when you take from a shared costume parts list.
  5. Heh, an avatar for myself. It's my unsuspecting street clothes toon. He's not one to dress in tights or jumpsuits. I think every super team should have at least one person who doesn't follow the superhero rules. Fazz is the one who was voted most likely to become a super villain, yet surprised everybody when he started fighting against that assumption. My sort of superhero in red and black.

On Infinity I've done a whole technology based cast of toons. On Freedom I'm doing something more ambitious. A cast of star flung aliens, The Girl From Orion, m"Jalla and her servant girl and personal bodyguard Kepp of Z'lan. I'm also planning on doing an evil bounty hunter from their world on the CoV side, but I'll let that idea stew for a while longer.

Yeah, I draw. That piece I did was fairly quick and dirty. Not a lot of time spent on it. So it has a more cartoony look. Which I like to do anyway. There's a more Heavy Metal-ish version of it, but I won't post that. Something I really want to so is a portrait of Statesman in an Alex Ross style portrait (maybe just pencils since I have no painting supplies here). That'll take a bit longer as it's more involved than just sketching it out. But I have it in my mind.

Something I whipped up just for fun. Don't worry, this isn't a real comic book that's coming out of course.

It's all my main characters on Infinity. I designed each one as if they were characters from a superteam comic book.
  8. Here's The Girl From Orion: Queen m'Jalla. She's on the Freedom server as The Girl From Orion.

Here's the screen shot of her. http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/2...shottttro2.png
  9. Name: The Girl From Orion
aka: Queen m'Jalla Ezorhanan, 5th Offspring Of The Great Holy King Bren'Gin of the Old Ones and Keeper of the Sacred Scrolls of Everlasting Peace and the secret knowledge of everlasting war.

Hair: A deep shimmering cobalt blue
    Height: 6 feet, 8.31 inches
    Weight: 310lbs
    Skin color: Onyx
    Eyes: Blue field
    Age: 24 A'Re-en years (about 40 Earth years +/- a few months)

    Server: Freedom
    Archetype: Tanker
    Primary: Invulnerability
    Secondary: Super Strength
    Power Pools: Speed, Leadership

The deposed queen of the planet A'Re-en, m'Jalla was exiled to the Sol system for the false accusation of crimes against gurinity during the Hapf/Drom war. The charges were pushed by political ambition against her by enemies on the conservative independent faction who were surprisingly too powerful for her or her people to resist, revealing themselves at the endgame as impossibly super powered gurins. Near godlike beings. However her people, a good many of the normal non-super powered gurins and low grounders of the planet, were devastated to see her leave. Pennyless and without a shelter she adopted Earth as her new home. Seeing the growing super human community as a refuge she vowed to someday return to her A'Re-en with a good many allies who had heard her case. She is sure that she will come back to a once paradise planet ravaged by ceaseless war based on who were her enemies at the time of her exile.

Many in the human press misunderstood her when she pronounced the name of her home planet in the best English she could muster and assumed she was from somewhere in the Orion Nubula. An impossibility of course considering the makeup of the nubula. In truth, her planet revolves around a binary star system in the outer rim of the Andromeda galaxy. And thus the name stuck. She became what the populous of Earth call: The Girl From Orion.

Gurins are naturally/commonly super strong and tough compared to average humans. Other than her vast leadership abilities, m'Jalla is just an average non-super powered gurin. This is why she alone, despite her persuasive and inspiring ideals and words, was unable to resist being exiled. She promised her people she'd be back with ways to defeat their oppressors.

  10. Probably necro-posting on this, but I just wanted to say this is a very helpful guide. Found it by way of the CoH Wiki. Turned my once squishy dom into a dangerous squishy dom. There is one thing I think that should be mentioned (that I may have missed, but oh well). One fun thing to do is to pick Combat Jumping and then pick Hover and slot them each with 3 def (maybe give Hover a slot for a flight enh), then after you pick Hot Feet (after you get Stamina), while on the ground, turn on Hot Feet, then Combat Jumping, then Hover. Hot Feet will still be active and you can terrorize the enemy with double the def. Works with Fly too, but you lose def from Hover. Works pretty well and almost makes you MUAHAHA as you fly through a bunch of low level enemies and set them ablaze.

    Great news, Posi!

Now, the inevitable question: given that TransGaming got its start by forking the WINE code base into WineX for games, which later evolved into the Cedega cross-platform gaming tool, how long until we see a native Linux client for CoX?

    That's right!

    Or more specifically:

Officially licensed and supported boxed and/or downloadable from NCSoft's website LINUX CLIENT!

Right now the main problem I have in CoX is that textures on buildings and character models are glitched out showing a checkered pattern or vertical lines. That and the chat bug.
  12. Oh thank you! I thought it really sucked that I had to delete already awesome ideas for characters to make a new one and keep to one server where I know people. And I always found it difficult weighing the coolness of one character against the one I wanted to make which may not have been cool of an idea anyway.

I probably will be buying 5 slots right off the bat.

    [ QUOTE ]
*cough* RIP OFF *cough* why spend money on slots when there are many servers to play on and other games give MANY more slots for free? just my opinion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You don't have friends you play with that stick to one server, do you? But I guess I could move a character to another server, but that could get expensive if you want to do that all the time. Might as well stick to one server and pay the one time fee.

And why are you trying to convince us to play other MMORPGs? You know that won't work. j/k
  13. Thanks, here's a more graphical one on the suggestion of some of the people I showed it to.

  14. People like him are the kind of people who go through life without being inspired. Work-a-day, worker bee, low level existence stuff. Artists, writers and people who can dream are proportionately rare unfortunately.

Then there are those who substitute their own wit in favor of someone else's. We don't talk about them.

j/k Do you want to keep the Latin theme?
  16. I hope I'm doing this right.

One of the members of my supergroup the Circuitbreakers. (Actually my main toon in CoH)

    Codename: Electronigirl
Real Name: Unknown to the public.
Previous possible aliases: Jennifer "Jenni Sue" Susan Graham
    AKA: Elly, eGirl, Tronnie
Identity: Publicly known as Electronigirl, Dr. Jasen Graham's robot
Occupation: Adventurer, formally army private, formally electronic engineer, leader of the Circuitbreakers, agent of the Shun Fin Weapons Research company
    Citizenship: U.S.A.
Place of Birth: Paragon City, Rhode Island
Known Relatives: Dr. Jasen Graham (father), Emily Graham (mother)
Group Affiliation: Circuitbreakers, the Vanguard, Freedom Phalanx Reserve
Education: High school graduate; bachelorette of science electrical engineering, military basic training, programmed in many forms of martial arts and specialized fighting with an energy weapon (her hands)
Age: 3 or 24 (date of manufacture: 2004, natural: 1983)
    Weight: 510 lbs
    Height: 5' 4"
    Hair: Bright blond
    Eyes: Hazel
    Origin: Technology
    Archetype: Blaster

Characteristics: None outwardly. Her "skin" comes off to reveal a robotic endoskeleton. The public is generally unaware of this fact, however she does nothing to hide it.

Appearances: First appeared in City of Heroes videogame. Crossover with City of Villains in "Rikti Crash Site" issue #11

Powers: Energy blast and energy manipulation. Her powers are the result of advanced micro-weaponry built into her arms and chest cavity.

Abilities: Able to fly, hover and run swiftly.

Is she a robot? Is she a girl in an electronic suit? The public doesn't really know. But apparently she's an agent of the Shun Fin Weapons Research company. Her relationship with a scientist by the name of Dr. Jasen Graham is too a mystery. Is she his invention or something more? The familiarity between the two is undeniable. Daughter? Just a military project in advanced A.I. he's simply grown close to? With the enemies she's made, maybe a little too close for his own good. Some postulate that she is his daughter who's brain he had downloaded into an artificial positronic wetware brain. This is one theory that may be true as his daughter was dying from the symptoms of a Rikti created bioweapon. In this case she was 21 at the time of her "death." If this is true then she lives on in apparent perpetual agelessness. Some suspect though, that the downloaded brain was simply just a "copy" and his real daughter simply succumbed to her illness afterwards never knowing whether she'd die or truly live on in a robotic body. In any case she seems perfectly happy with her new lot in life. To blast the Rikti to hell and back for what they've done not only to her, but to Paragon City. Having a lifelong love for her city there is no force on this Earth or off it that will prevent her from protecting her birth city. Nothing!

  17. Or whatever it's called.

Got this idea when I heard that they were going to do something with the player info stuff. Inspiration from the XBL gamer tags.

What do you think? I have it set up where I can make them for you guys if you want. All I'd need is a good screenshot and the info for your toon. But my idea was to suggest this idea to the devs if I may. It could be done automatically with that player info/website access thing you guys were talking about.
  18. Did I mention that she's on Infinity? Random times during the day, but usually at night.
