In other news. Are they patching issue 19 right now? I had almost no sleep and it would suck if I19 is today since I'm not really awake enough to be ready zzzzzzzzz

If you are focusing on counting syllables and forcing the thought behind the Haiku into such narrow conditions then you are missing the art behind them.

Sticking to 5-7-5 is akin to a novice cameraman stating something vacuous like "lens flare is NEVER a good thing" because he's still operating from a starter's rulebook instead of his own skill as an artist.

    Waggro

I'm not sure about the USA but here in the UK "WAGs" are "Wives or Girlfriends" of footballers (sometimes extended to partners of other celebrities). There are many negative connotations to the term, i.e. money-grubbing, vacuous, bimbo, etc.

Today, there are some UK newspapers playing on the term, with "WAGGRO" plastered over the front page about some random person named Wagner trying to headbutt someone.

But I read this as meaning being "aggro from WAGs" or probably a specific "WAG", then was shocked no one had thought of the shorthand before

This new term must now be used to describe "real life aggro", "gf aggro", etc since it is far more succinct and helpful.
  5. U'Kon Grai,
    Target: players all around,
    Shame: bombs already sploded

    Lord Recluse Strike Force,
    Not easy. Statesman mad,
    We pwned Miss Liberty

    Dimensional barrier,
    Sigh
    I want Preatorian badges.

    Dr. Quaterfield Task Force,
    Far too long,
Wake me up when it's over

I missed a critical mission accomplishment badge,
    Ouroboros

    Five random rolls,
    Five Sniper recipes,
    All Sting of the Manticore

    Cimerora walls,
    Great farming,
Then a plus three boss sneaks up behind
  6. I hope very much she is okay and recovers from this, or at worst gains super telepathic powers from the experience.

I don't agree that the forums demonstrate these points. Mostly because none apply to me and I post on the forums a lot

I do prefer soft capes to those chafing hard capes though

On a related note, please don't rise to "Terror1"s ridiculous reply. I think he broke the missed-the-point-o-meter with that one.
  8. The ITF is a very popular TF because it strikes a good balance between difficulty and fun. The large outdoor maps give players a lot of tactical freedom, the enemies aren't too difficult to wade through but cannot be totally skipped, nothing in the missions is trivial or ultra-hard for an average player and the final boss is tough but not annoyingly so - the standard method for reliably defeating him is quite intuitive plus doesn't require a predefined mix of characters.

The Cuda SF is unpopular because it is generally easier than the ITF but ends with a ridiculously boring fight against a buffed AV who takes forever to wittle down to zero health, while hordes of enemies ambush constantly. Also, certain ATs are essential to counter the AVs' gimmick "uber powers". People just don't generally have the time for it.

The LRSF is alright these days, with people mostly slotted a lot more cometently than they used to be. The final mission remains technically impossible to overcome, in a way that shocks many newbies into being terrified of attempting it a second time, but with either (i) temp powers and cheap tactics, (ii) a mind dom and cheap tactics, (iii) veteran players who know the few key tactics to beating it comfortably; it can be done.

The STF usually just requires perseverance. The final mission has a hospital in it and so long as you bring along someone who can tank a buffed Recluse for more than 10 seconds you are fine. It's like the LRSF, except the players have more control over how hard the overall challenge is.

The LGTF is somehow quite clautrophobic for the first few missions, causing people to grow bored and leave more often than in other TFs. If it wasn't for the cheap methods of skipping some parts, this TF would be a lot less popular than it is.

Kahn, Lady Grey and Cuda, ITF aren't really in the same league as the STF or LRSF.

I hope the new TFs are more like the ITF than the LRSF, except with difficulty increased by forcing players to think more, like when fighting Protean.

Also the EU players did buy their copies...you know what happened.

The EU side of NCsoft got shutdown...completely, the Brighton offices were gutted leaving only the marketting people (One man and his dog for CoH marketting in the EU...and we haven't seen the man in some time) who spend most of their time pushing Guild Wars 2. All the support staff were laid off and EU support is done from the US now, yes even the German and French support staff are based in the US.

There are no local support staff to keep in employ because they've already gone!
The dog is pretty good though. That's why they kept him on staff

    5 Years later...

I have a clear and distinct memory from August 2006 where someone on the old forums was complaining about the frequent Friday/Saturday night server crashes that were happening back then, and said "I can guarantee you this game will not be here in two years".

I always remember that when my SG reaches another anniversary
  11. Fanged Knight Bio:

    Why is he hairy, Dad?

    Because we haven't shaved him.

    His fangs are kinda long.

Because he's the lycan Paragon deserves, but not the one it needs right now.

So, we'll throw sticks, because he can fetch them. Because he's not our doggy. He's a furry trivia-asker. A PERCky vigilante. A Fanged Knight.

  12. That sounds like it came really close. Sorry to hear it didn't quite work - I was too tired to play but will have more chances now since soon my UK clock go back an hour and that will mean 9pm EST is "only" 2am for me
  13. Tornado = Twirly

DR coming to PvE would be a good reason for a serious NDA.

It would also be a good reason for Castle to hire a large number of 24/7 security guards wielding lightsabres and proton packs (they'd need the latter since the insanely horrified players would keep attacking even after they had physically died).

It would also be a good reason for War Witch to look for work...

    (j/k!)
  15. Issue 20 will have variant covers drawn by different famous artists and a set of holo-foil stickers inserted into the middle. Sadly, the stickers will be annoying because you'll need to remove them very carefully from the staples if you want the issue pages to remain intact - but hey any real collector won't remove them anyways since that will destroy the pristine value of the book.
  16. Let's try again on Thurs night this week? Pretty sure that doesn't clash with any of the planned Halloween events.

I almost can't be bothered to try again, after how boring the final fight turned out to be. Still, I would have fared better if it had been earlier in the day.

Definitely could use the cash (well, the govt gets about a third of that back) but the recognition will definitely help an eventual move into management in 2-3 yrs hopefully....

  19. It is a pretty easy SF right up to the final AV. I felt like I was in the Citadel TF rather than some crazy-difficult challenge.

Sadly it was about 4am for me when we reached Rieschman so I was well off my best. I practically fell asleep twice and on one occasion almost got sucker-punched, tee hee. Still, didn't die.

The two issues with Reischman seemed to be (1) his opening attack and first attack after a phase/hide in the machine hit extremely hard, and (2) debuffs are a must. We were basically hitting him with nothing but standard stuff, so it took an eternity for him to go down. A rad on the team would have really helped.

The ambushes were mind-numbing. Also, Reisch seems to be programmed with an odd quirk in both the KTF and BSF where on his final few HP he will cling to life like crazy while targetting random members of the team, which makes those last seconds extremely dangerous.
  20. I still think most people will be free for this by 8pm EST, seeing as the event goes live way before and it's just 5 runs of a single mission to get all the new badges.

Ice Ember would be ideal as the tank since he filled that role on the MoKTF I ran and had no trouble keeping Reischman at bay, even in invincible mode.

I revised the SF earlier and didnt see anything too wacky. Only the patrons, one by one.
