I'm afraid that tuesday and thursdays are the only times that I can organize these, and only in the mornings. how much influence? I really couldn't say, at least 10,000, probably more. I'm level 36, so it won't be pocket change. as for the damage enhancement, it's the only kind that I can rely on everyone being able to use, although come to think of it, there's still the level problem... ok, forget the enhancements, any suggestions for the runner up prizes?
also, if it is really wanted, I will conduct the event without pants. -
is there anything in the morning on tuesday or thursday?
-
this upcoming tuesday the 21st of july, at 6:30 A.M., Pacific time, I will be holdind a grand race on heroside, starting at the faultline dam, then racing to the yellow line steel canyon before sprinting back to the finish line. winner gets every point of influence I have, and a single origin damage enhancement. we will meet in new overbrook at 6:30 sharp. some basic rules, first:
1. no ouroboros, pocket D, or sg teleportation, just travel power on travel power.
2. the winner will be determined be the first player to give me a thumbs up at the finish line. note: second and third runners up also get enhancements, as well as bragging rights. also, there will be a referee at the turning point, you must give him a thumbs up or the turning will not count, and he will signal me.
3. any temporary powers can be used, aside from teleporters that go beyond the range of the power teleport.
please leave a message here to register, I hope to see a crowd on tuesday, the 21st. good luck! -
I actually don't have much experience, but I'm finding myself pretty happy with invul/energy, since the attack has so many possible stuns to keep them from hitting back, and invulnerability helps with damaging auras as well as any straight damage. I've actually been soloing missions on "invincible" challenge level, but I feel just a tad rickety on certain teams. however, I've also found myself UTTERLY INVINCIBLE when paired with a ff controller, stacking damage resistance to nigh biblical heights.
-
FRIDAY is nigh! the rikti are back in force! run! run!!!! get to the spaceships I built to save humanity!!!!!
what? you don't believe me??!!! YOU FOOLS!!!
If I cannot save our world, I will at least save my son, young Hal L. Paradox, by sending him to some distant world! -
thank you for taking the time to reply. thank you from the BOTTOM of my heart. you make a good point. if people WANT to help, they'll have this place, and if not, Sebastian and I can work something out. the biggest thing about this was that it would take more than 3 story arcs to complete, but I suppose with the release of purchasable slots, that's obsolete.
-
happy belated birthday! even though I only know you by reputation!!!
-
how does a person join thse channels?
-
thanks! I've just been thinking a lot about that incident recently, and comparing it to the experiences I've had on othere servers.
Doctor Paradox -
why does everything that I try to put together just fall flat? I'm just trying to put something together between some players, and everyone just ignores it. I'm sorry about the spamming, but it was months ago! I intend to make a massive story, and I was just hoping to gain some rich creativity from this community.
-
I notice that the emerging pantheon of these heroes is based primarily on what the hero does with his compatriots rather than his enemies, though the two can be closely intertwined. I wonder how you people go about organizing events and planned TF's and sidekicking mentors? any time I've tried to put up a notice, the only activity I get are tumbleweeds.
-
wow. I'm pretty new to the game, still on my first character, but I am still amazed at triumph. it's such a close knit community that's willing to help any new players learn the ropes, and honestly try to stick together with you after the night is over. I can't really describe it well, this being my only server for the most part, but I have a story that I think sums my feelings up:
it was winter, 2008, and my tanker, Sundiver, was starting to get frustrated with the leveling grind that I thought was so terrible of the 10-20 stretch. my build was feeling a bit innefective, there were too many "clear all gang" missions, and on top of that, I couldn't find the way into the ski resort for the event! I was wandering steel canyon listlessly, absentmindedly weeding my contact's list when out of the blue...
Tell/[phlogistone]: Hi, want a team?
-->tell/[phlogistone](me): what? sorry, I'm only level 15, I replied quickly, seeing that she was 50.
but that didn't matter to her, she invited me anyway, sidekicked me, and asked if I needed help on that year's holiday mission. heedless of how ignorant I was, Phlo pushed me along steadily with tips and strategy into mobs of purples, but she was always there to get me out when thing's got out of hand. when, at last, the evening came to a close, Phlog saluted me and gave me some parting advice: "trust in the other players. no matter how over your head a mission or game system is, there will be someone who will help you out, but only if you ask them. you get more respect as a noob who asks stupid questions and learns than a noob who remains in quiet ignorance."
I've only been playing for 5 months, so I really have no notion of the big, defining moments of the server, or even mediocre events. I'm just another faceless player who tries to stop evildoers, earn some more power, and enjoy the camaraderie that this server is steeped in.
Sundiver
level 36 tanker
p.s. if you read this, phlogistone, thanks again. it really meant a lot to me. -
welll, not really. but could we perhaps CAUSE a server to have an influx of RPers? I like to RP, but find little other people who do. triumph?
-
oh, and for lack of a screenshot of Sundiver, place this into the Load window of Heromachine 2.5, here.

"I-I was coming back from breaking up some Crey operation,"
sundiver falteringly replied. "when when right in front of me a massive portal opened up. it was the deepest red, and seemed like a window into hell. I'd never seen anything like it, and it was too late to veer away, so I flew headlong into -enghh!!" he clutched at a nasty burn on his side, but continued. " it felt like I was being ripped into a million different pieces when I went through it, tossed this way and that like a bag of feathers in a hurricane. I struggled against the flow of - of whatever it was, and started to feel the tether that was yanking me along give way. suddenly, I was out of the current and flung into some alternate timeline- or maybe it was the future- and it was in ashes. Atlas park was in ruins, overgrown and flooded with the ocean. the streets were filled with the dead, corpses eaten away by decay - and something else. something had eaten them alive from the inside." just then, Sundiver noticed the glowing force fields that encompassed Atlas Park, protecting it from attack.
"What in god's name is that?!" he cried in alarm. -
well, here are the ideas going on around so far for the chronology. the basis is that the Lost have started the war, with help fro mthe war supporting Rikti, who are also trying to seize control of their homeworld (we need a Rikti Homeworld Map.)
1. (Lost) Rikti Attack portal Corp, possible Praetorian crossover, in order to make contact with the homeworld. War begins an Vanguard swiftly takes charge.
2. general Wartime strikes begin, hints of a deeper mystery run through the Arcs, but are unsubstantiated as yet. strikes against Lost Rikti and regular Rikti are made, and there can be any number of themes for both. Regular: Evacuation, defending, or finding a defensive weapon are examples (Seb, you know the Arc I told you about, this would be the time for this)
3. Dark Watcher notices inconsitencies and sends Heroes to search for the truth. this can be over several arcs, with info passed from one story to the next via-contact. the truth about the enemies being fought is uncovered, and you find that it is the Lost who started the War
4. before you can pass on the Info, you stop the destruction of the Embassy and are forced to go underground before you reveal the truth and clear your names. a parallel story can be going on here where you are trying to capture the Renegades, but end up fighting with them when defending the base. this is a major turning point in the War, as from this point on it is known who you are fighting.
5. the Military and Vanguard turn their efforts towards finding the Lost Rikti, but the extra effort comes too late to stop a fresh wave of troops. word comes from the peaceful Rikti that the warlike Rikti (WR from now on) are causing destruction on the R homeworld in order to seize power.
we were also thinking that Gaussian of the Vanguard is behind the Lost attacking in the first place. after the truth about the Lost is found, massive troop carriers arrive, and the Humans are forced into the defensive, basically put under seige until the heroes foil the final plan of using a psychic bomb to whipe out all humans. -

welcome to a semi-fictional Supergroup! I say "Semi" because it DOES exist on the Triumph server, its just rather pitiful at the moment.
anywho, welcome! this is going to be a storytelling thread about the Invincibles, in which you will be mostly fighting nonexistent enemies set in the CoH Continuity. there will be fights with in game groups, however, and I hope that all are enjoyed. good luck, you will be battling such menaces as Doctor Paradox, the Zodiac League, Fathom, Ymir, and others who have yet to be concieved. feel free to do whatever you like to the story, and use whatever characters. here it goes.
Ahem.
High above Paragon city, a light flares. seven heroes and twelve civillians notice it, but pay it no mind. the ligh grows steadily, flashing like a shooting star dropping to earth. ten heroes, twenty-six civillains and a hellion notice it, and stop for a moment to gaze at it. the light is coming closer rapidly now, and groups of people look up and point at it, murmuring speculative whispers. it's quite close now, and in Atlas Plaza, Heroes and citizens alike begin to realize a present danger. the light is roaring down now, faster than a speeding bullet, in fact, and onlookers flee, shouting in terror just before a massive projectile ball of fire shoots through Atlas's dome and plummets downward, creating a two block long furrow before coming to rest in a smoking crater. Heroes rush to the scene, ready for a battle against some alien menace or mystical foe, but find something far more disturbing.
out of the burning pit stumbles a smoldering, ashen Hero called Sundiver, an invulnerable Energy tanker, who takes four halting steps, falters, and falls against a hero nearby, who catches him and pulls him upright. clothed in tatters, and on the edge of unconsciousness, Sundiver manages to choke out the following words:
"Too late... they're... the Machine Kings are here..."

hmmmmm... nobody? here's an Idea: the Lost Start lhe war, thinking that there is still a war but that they are out of contact.
-
Fabulous Idea! would the red lights simply suffuse the entire base or would you get a number of red lights that can be placed, and also would the base be filled with Klaxons?
I think that there should be a "Security alert" that comes up in the Chat window, like with giant monsters.
as to what the Mission door would be, hows about your basic shiny teleport tube, such as the classic JLA stuff. the contact could simply come up as an image on a massive screen. -
seriously, I just played a great non-MA team with no trouble, just like pre-I14. besides, Its incredibly easy to find non-farm arcs that are great stuff. its all there, and the people who are farming o nthe MA are just the People who were farmung with In-game Content.
