As for 3 publish slots... I'm trying not to think of it, because I have WAY MORE than 3 arc ideas, I'm not going to be happy swapping them in and out, and if it's as hard to get into Hall of Fame as it looks, I'll probably give up on MA within a month and it will make me very sad.
Sniff. -
If people didn't read the initial block of text and 1-star it with 'tl;dr,' what the heck would make them read the text of mission 5 or pay any more attention?
It's a silly example.
The question is, are people giving 1 stars for the right reasons? And that has little to do with finishing or not finishing mission arcs.
Though I do like the idea of 'adding comments.' -

And right there is why it's a good idea to weight votes based on how much of the arc one sees. And as a subnote why it might be prohibitively difficult for folks to make it to the hall of fame.

No. No, it's still not.
If your mission is absolutely terrible, why should I waste my time finding out if you suddenly learned how to spell 3 missions in?
A good writer grabs you from minute one, and in the loose shared content we're talking about, the onus should really be on the creator, not the audience. -
There's a great book on writing called 'Beginnings, Middles, and Ends' which talks about the most important thing in a book. The beginning. And the middle. And the end.
The first most important thing is the first page. Or even the first line.
Because unless you are super famous, if that page (or line) doesn't immediately grab the reader by the throat, chances are you're not getting them to page 2. -
The problem is that sometimes it really is clear the mission is an absolute turd from minute one.
'You are gon to git Princes Amdidala from gingun raiders on.
The world is real big, and you find the shiney box. Click on it.
Ha ha! Just kidding. You open box (click is what player do)'
And then you see Warriors and Devoured Earth for no apparent reason.
Yeah. 1 star, bye. -
Saga of Ryzom, Ryzom Ring, released October 3, 2006. Let's people create instanced missions, with their own maps and enemy scripting.
Mind you, I hear it's buggy and I'm not fond of the game, and I'd probably judge MA as 'better' in a lot of ways, but still.
There may be other examples, but there's at least one. -
I had to laugh at http://www.cityofheroes.com/news/gam..._overview.html
'The First MMORPG to Offer User Created Content!'
Yeah. Way to do your homework. -
Scholarman is saying everything I wanted to. So, er, yeah -- what he said.

I'm a little... disheartened at the '1000+ votes at average 5 stars.'
This sounds very much like 'have fun with 3 arcs forever.' I mean, I think I can make some nice arcs, but getting 1000+ folks to vote 4-5 stars, and hope there aren't griefers or grumps dragging it down?
Sigh.
(Though I'm seriously stoked to see that enemy groups will have customizable appearance. This was my biggest concern. WOO!)

Very disappointed at the lack of reskinning/changing factions. One thing I really wanted was the freedom to add new and very different groups, to avoid stepping on dev toes and their canon.
Meh. -
There's a bug with... lightning field, I believe? Where you end up injuring yourself more if you slot procs.
Protector bots getting stuck. I'm very happy my MM hit 50 so I could unlock VEATs and stop playing him. My bots got stuck about once every 10 mins. That's been a problem since MMs were added.
Those are two just off the top of my head. They, and others, get talked about frequently in AT forums. (Usually 'it's been 6 issues, they aren't going to fix it')
Edit: Excuse me, not lightning field, lightning rod. More here.

does it really make any sense to keep asking, and asking, and asking (sometimes in a demanding tone) the same questions?

When the other choice is stop playing and you like playing? Yes.
And, personally, given the list of bugs that have been around for many many issues... yes, I'd rather they skip an Issue and focus on bug cleanup. -
Yeah... half my heroes are ex-villains, and at least a few of my villains are fallen heroes.
I don't see why the text has to be linked to game events, given the free hand people have in making backgrounds. -
Sorry if this has been discussed ad nauseum, but... are protector bots ever going to get fixed so they don't get stuck?
I love the new equip/upgrade aura thing, but it really stinks when you have to dismiss a stuck robot and resummon it. Or to be pressured to get 'recall friend.' -
Suggestions for candy cane unlocked costume options:
Carrot nose (under details1, maybe?)
Coal eyes (though insect eyes does in a pinch)
Corn-cob pipe
Coal nose
Maybe those freaky 'pit' eyes like the winter lords have? -
Don't suppose you guys might add merit rewards for newspaper/radio missions?
I really dislike story arcs, don't have time for TFs, and ... well. Other than the occasional GM or story arc I do for the accolade, I'm pretty much never going to get merits. -
Mostly subjective.
I have an axe/shield brute at level 20, which is still pretty young. But I'm noticing a lot of what other folks are saying: low survivability, huge end drain. Which might work for a scrapper, I suppose, but on a brute, who relies on running around at mid-high fury? Eh.
It sure looks nice, but so far it's felt weaker and less useful than dark armor, fiery armor, regeneration, super reflexes, and willpower (I haven't tried the other defenses).
I'm still plugging away at it, mainly due to looks, but the fun factor is fading.
Oh, I should say that I really _don't_ want shields to get regeneration or more health or whatnot -- that's just ... weird for a shield set.
I'd much prefer more of what shields already have; raise the values, lower the end cost, increase the power of AAO, etc. I like what shields does, for the most part, but other sets do most of what shield does, better, plus a lot of very useful other stuff.
If the shield's strength is supposed to be primarily in helping the team, let us know that we shouldn't expect decent personal defense.

I have many friends who only play certain Other Games. They have been hearing about this game from myself and other friends for years, but as Mac users, their hands have been tied.
I look forward to seeing them here! -
I play a plant/storm, up to level 33 so far, and like him lots.
Freezing rain synergizes nicely with immobilization from root, and hurricane can help herd folks together if you play it right. O2 boost can be a nice third string heal that I would recommend picking up -- yes, you aren't a healer, but a well-timed heal can do lots.
Steaming mist is a great group stealth/buff that will help your pet, and Snowstorm (or whatever it is called) has a nice feature: -fly. Since several of the plant abilities don't work well on flying creatures, it sounds like a good combination. I say 'sounds' because while I have snowstorm, I'm not absolutely sure how much of a difference it's made.
