If I were doing this, the primary thing I'd use is the asymmetric costume pieces. I'd cram as many in there as possible, including the antenna one, the targeting reticle for eye, the robot arm, the various barb wire/chain accessories, etc.

I would also make her a weapon user of some sort, and alternate the weapons in each hand. If she's a Claws Scrapper, for instance, I've make one hand the multi-claw and the other the single blade.

Lower-echelon Freakshow seem to be more colorful than those higher in rank, too. But there are a lot of mohawks on display. Very Road Warrior.

[/ QUOTE ]

That is funny due to me doing the exact same thing on my freak girl one hand is multiple claw the other is the solo blade.
2. This is my little claws/regen scrapper on live, she's a renegade freak. ju1cY J3nNy. Patterned after Clamor.

There were far fewer nipples in the Silver Age.

lol whoops that mod is still in from my Dunk Booth demorecord for the Carnival of Twilight Dreams base tour....sec and i'll fix that

EDIT: ok fixed That was a mod that combines the old style nips on costumes way back in issue 1 with the abdomen from icons dummies, which i used in a joke recently in the CoTD post I made in Base forum

I've tried a couple of different locations that look like I'm well lit, but the SC keep coming out really dark, is there a setting to help that? or a good picture spot to recommend? (red side)

[/ QUOTE ]

You may need to just boost the gamma in a paint program if your game screencaptures are dark. Not sure but the gamma setting in game doesn't seem to affect screenshots for some, if not all people. I lightened up a bunch of base images for someone recently due to that.

(Yes, I stayed up to look at your base!)

[/ QUOTE ]

Heh Silly! You should have gone to sleep first Thanks though BTW I sent Talek the demorecord of the dunk booth if you both want a laugh .... the splash effect is rather excessive but funny.

I love it! Been wanting Carnie walls and carpets!

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah same here. I had to use solid color banners to attempt to give it a more carnie look.

"Buggy" Awesome base!!

Great idea and follow through. It deffinatley will inspire many more folks to get their thinking caps out of the dusty attic and crank the switch all the way to imagination.

Great job.

[/ QUOTE ]

Glad you and others liked it and let me know hehehe

Base looks -awesome-... You very skillfully made the base objects look like they were expressly meant for your purpose.
...and the 'meddling kids' were hilarious.

Ruh roh!

[/ QUOTE ]

Thanks I figured this would be the perfect kind of place they'd snoop around and give everyone who knows these characters a good laugh

[ QUOTE ]
It's amazing how much larger it seems with all the people in it. Good use of space for the theme!

[/ QUOTE ]

Never thought about that really. It always seems so lifeless and empty when I'm zoning in to drop off enhancements or whatever. I did notice in demo-editing that it did seem bigger just seeing each section by itself.
7. [ QUOTE ]
Gee, it sounds cool.

Unfortunately:
The connection has timed out
The server at img184.imageshack.us is taking too long to respond.

Been getting that for over half an hour.

[/ QUOTE ]

Interesting I just tried one with img184 and it worked fine, probably high traffic on imageshack's site. Not much I can do about that

Only thing I can suggest is to try them again in a bit. seems Imageshack is experiencing some heavy loads on a few of its servers.
8. In order to get all the people into the base I used the above mentioned method and did a lot of demorecord editing only. Then had one of the demoplayers do a screendump. Finally I sorted through all the dumps to find what I wanted to use. I ended up going overboard in that each of the two major animated sequences are little mini movies by themselves. The ring toss and the Dunk Booth.

Did anyone notice Mender Lazarus' "date" slapping him or Duke Mondragor having a hotdog The three meddlesome kids should be pretty obvious to anyone too. I figured it is a carnival so lets add some humor where we can and I hope they gave everyone a laugh.

Once Leandro's awesome Splasher is updated I'll try changing the hirano wall texture to the carnie tent texture and see how that looks.

What I'd have loved to do was replace some of the base items with some of the objects you find in missions but they are almost all bugged and don't show up in demos. Using the glowing green vats from the Supradine mission would have made a better dunk booth tub of course, but then again this is using only stuff found in the bases.

Anyway Here are more concise shots of the base without demo people added.

9. Have you ever started a project and then gone overboard? This started out as a desire to make a Carnie themed base and then I went crazy and decided to give it some real "atmosphere"

Carnival of Twilight Dreams is a tiny base created after the prestige grant so I don't have much to work with here. The whole thing is created inside the Oversite center.

Carnival of Twilight Dreams

I know I should be patient and slowly try to learn to work the Wacom... but I feel so frustrated at not being able of doing anything more than scratches and lines.

Also on the subject of 3D printers, two words: Edible Paintings.

Think you could try and put flour and oil and stuff into one of those printers and print out dessert? That would be just too awesome! I can see it now "Unexpected guests? Just download our five course meal .jpg and ... print it!"

[/ QUOTE ]

I do believe there is a food one for doing chocolates but don't quote me on that

[ QUOTE ]
Someone actually makes a printer that paints (I'm assuming it's actually like airbrushing) an image you make digitally onto a canvas which can then be matted and framed.

[/ QUOTE ]

There is also a 3d printer that will print out sculpture. I believe it "prints" a layer of resin over a surface and builds up until the object is created.

[/ QUOTE ]

I used to work in an art production studio that used to print basic designs on the canvas and then we'd go in and actually paint over them to make "real" paintings. Made design work alot easier using the computer for layout.

3d printers can print in a variety of substances from resin pools to wax and other stuff too. Most of the smaller 3d printers are not fantastic quality and touchup work must be done. The higher quality and more expensive 3d printers can do some amazing work, including fabricate joints right on the subject at the time of the printing. Amazing stuff.
14. I don't think that sketching, inking, scanning, coloring is an anomaly at all. I've seen plenty of artists who are faster and more comfortable with a pen/pencil then using a tablet and they do just what you do and use the computer only for coloring.

As for getting used to the wacom, you do just what most artists did when they learned how to draw with a pencil/brush/pen. Practice at making lines and getting used to the pressure sensitivity.
15. [ QUOTE ]
Huh. I woulda thought at least a few more of you worked with traditional media sometimes...

[/ QUOTE ]

You'd be surprised at how many artists these days don't do traditional anymore. Why pay for paints, brushes, paper/canvas, gesso, paint holders, cleaners, palettes, etc.. when you can buy a tablet and PS, maybe a scanner and be done with it? Takes up less room too.

I've personally worked in over a dozen different mediums on a wide variety of projects in school and out of schools and see more and more people turning to digital. I doubt that traditional will go away ever but it will get a smaller base over time till there is a resurgence, as there always is.
16. The point of porting croatoa over is:

<ul type="square">[*]Least amount of work for the developers to do. They don't have to spend resource time and money doing a whole new zone from scratch.[*]Most benefit for villains in drops and content zone gap.
17. &lt;QR&gt;

I'd like to see croatoa ported over as a villain version, where you take jobs from one of the different factions to destroy the other faction....Red Caps, Tuatha, Cabal, Ghosts.

You'd help them break into the town for whatever reason (undermine the town, recover artifacts, blame another faction, kidnap someone important, destroy some protective item, open a portal, trap sacrifices etc...). As you level up you'd work for different factions...after all we're equal opportunity destroyers here .

This would do a few things:
<ul type="square">[*]Require less artwork then any new zone would.[*]Gives stuff in the 20 to 30 range, which is needed (Sharkhead i'm looking at you).[*]Lets villains earn the badges that they can only get during holiday events IF the events are run.[*]More magic drops which villains are sorely lacking as most stuff is tech or tech+magic and not pure magic.[*]Chance to add some really cool new stuff to the zone as a revamp. (make the fey realms look more trippy etc)[*]Gives villains a short Strike Force (Katie Hannon Strike Force).[*]Gives villains access to the witches hat costume option, of which there is no way to get for them.
