I already bought the pack because I wanted the shoulders for one alt and the belt for another. I was putting around wondering if I'd get any use out of the skirt. What you made here gives me new hope for the parts. I like the look!

What is more likely the case is that the pieces in question clash with over 20% of the other pieces in that area (cutting through geometry, in general looks really bad). In these cases we reserve the right to withhold these pieces in order to maintain the good looking characters you guys are capable of.
I'm sure the reason you guys do this is because it's a "you can't win" scenario, from a certain viewpoint. If you create costume parts that clip people will complain about how they clip. So you strive to make parts that won't clip. I don't see this as taking the right path.

The thing is, tons of parts already clip, and every new part you add just means more chance for clipping. You're going to reach a point where you can't add any new parts if there's a rule on not clipping, because some sort of jutting chest part or shoulderpad or wacky belt is going to be in the way all the time. You know those barbarian parts you just added? The boots clip with most skirts. So what's the difference?

If you really want to make this a rule, you need to only look at two major things. One, the part doesn't clip with itself or the model it's on (some of the victorian parts did this and they were fixed). Two, the part doesn't clip with other pieces from the same set. Other than that? It doesn't matter if it clips. Bolero clips with a ton of things. So does the high collar cape. So do the fancy skirts and big boots.

Your reasoning doesn't really make sense. You're saving us from inflicting pain upon ourselves? You're preventing clipping so we don't make costumes that clip and then dislike it? This is like removing the Incarnate system so we don't make bad choices. Why can't we be allowed to make those decisions ourselves? If we create costumes that clip, don't you think we'll just not use those parts together? Or if we do, not care that they clip (as some posters have already shown examples of in this thread -- I have a toon with some intentional clipping myself).

Let the players have that freedom. So what if they clip? If parts clip, players are either going to deal with it or use different parts. The alternative of not giving us that part is all is the wrong decision.

You can earn at least four (or is it seven?) of them even before you count the freespecs they give out just about every issue now, and vet ones. How many do you need?

As always, the Paragon Points that come with your VIP subscription serve to give you access to the Market items that best suit your own playstyle.
Mostly for me that includes costumes and new powersets.

    Where's StJ?!

  8. I'm drowning in respecs over here, to the point I only use them to unslot things when I feel like moving IOs from one toon to another. I claimed my enhancement unslotters last night just so my email wouldn't be red, but not after a long "looooooooooooooooooooool why would I ever use those?"

I'll trade you respecs for tailor tokens.

Outside of Guild Wars which lets you fiddle outside of missions as much as you like (worth noting it wasn't always like that though), the other MMOs I've played are severely restricted or just don't allow it at all.

Ragnarok Online was basically the worst. There was no form of respec or do-over of any kind whatsoever for years and years. If you misclicked or didn't look up an out-of-game skill prerequisite reference sheet (the game itself gave you no clues) you were stuck with it forever or just had to make a new character. And this is in a game with like 30 classes and like 250+ stat point assignments and 100+ skill point assignments per character.

These days I think they allow you to redo your skills or a small chunk of stats at a time (20 of the 250 at a time), but only for real money and with a time limit or something. So I guess it could be worse: you could have to pay real money to respec.

They haven't been free for a long time. I actually quit the game a few issues ago because I was tired of having to pay for every new costume part.

In this state, they're kind of free. You get 400 points per month and as long as the prices stay as they are you can afford a new costume pack every month without having to actually pay more than you already are. Though the encroaching $1 per part thing could be a threat to that (looking at you, backpack and volcanic aura).

Though, I'll be bummed if I don't have enough points for StJ and/or TW.
  10. I think all the new powers we got for the travel pools are better than all the old tier 4s, however, they still aren't anything I'm going to take on any character I own.

I had a few minutes of fun playing with Spring Attack on beta with a Controller who was a rabbit, but it's not really all that practical or useful. It might be okay on an Elec/Shield farming Scrapper, but it does like half the damage with a 33% longer recharge. So meh.
  11. Having played games that are way more strict on class builds and requirements in the past I can tell you this one really is the most lax. My personal rule of thumb for beating any content the game has to offer is to make sure at least 2-3 of the team are supportish of some sort (regardless of what that is) and the rest can be whatever. But teams of all Scrappers or Blasters or whatever have also beaten basically all the content the game has to offer so you don't even always need support either.

So, don't make characters based on what you think other people would want you to make. Just make things that sound fun or interesting to you, and you'll have the best time. There isn't any character you could make that wouldn't be welcome on teams. Unless you're on Freedom.

Fatsos are the ones going to the drive through because they can't be arsed to deal with gravity for a few minutes. I always go inside because it's usually faster, and doesn't pollute the environment as much (in fact in some places they're trying to completely get rid of drive-throughs, because all those idling cars add a lot of pollution -- something I'm in favor of). Besides, if I'm going to eat a 900 calorie cheeseburger I may as well get 30 seconds of exercise. You can still get your food to-go.

Seriously. "I'm playing a Dominator. I should look for the Dominator forum" is not a hard thing to grasp.
Going to agree with this. It would actually be more confusing and more intimidating for players to try and figure out what "role" each AT is, and then go sort through threads that are totally unrelated to the AT they're actually trying to look for, just to find information. Keep the ATs to each separate sub-forum.

The thing you are forgetting is that those points now have to go to stuff that was previously included in the Issue updates. You know, stuff like power sets, costumes, some content, a lot of QoL upgrades (enhancement slots, increased inventory, etc), and that things will be constantly added to the store.

Before a player was able to say they have got full access to everything in the game. That is no longer the case.
Players still had to pay for tons of crap. At one point I had to pay for CoV, and then GR, and the many costume packs. I had to pay extra for the various release versions of the game to get all the bonuses and perks I wanted. You didn't have full access to the game unless you bought it.

Not much has changed. In fact you get more for free now than you ever did before.

I still feel it necessary to complain about overpriced items though.

Meh. I still focus my Necro/Dark more on the debuffs and mezzes than damage. She's the only char of mine so far I'm not going Reactive on. I also snagged Void, but going to go the debuff tree.
  16. I have 3 ACC/MEZ HOs in Lich (his damage is pitiful so I don't bother; he only has one actual attack and it's minor damage). Since he has hold, immobilize, and fear you max out 4 stats with 3 slots.

    SE I have:
    Expedient Reinforcement: ACC/RECH, ACC/DMG/RECH, END/DMG/RECH, +RES unique
    Call to Arms: +DEF unique
    Level 50 recharge IO

This gives the power 47.75% ACC, 42.2% DMG, 21.2% END, and 96.7% RECH. You also get both of the recharge intensive bonuses (important if you aren't Storm) as well as 6.25% global. The ghosts aren't that high on damage but it's nice to have the recharge as high as possible.

The packs are now $5.00 (400 points) instead of $9.99. So unless there are $5.00 worth of emotes I don't think you're paying more.

I'm sure those people exist on some level, but I can't honestly say I know anyone who would take the time to put SOs on a character that low in level. You're just going to outlevel them as soon as you have exp turned on. There aren't that many low level arcs to make the effort worthwhile. And it's not like you even need them for level 5 arcs.

And... the new enhancements are better for low level characters anyway.

This is probably the strangest insult I've ever received here on the forums. I'll leave you to it if that's, uh, really what you're going to do. I still don't see what makes you incapable of slotting or deleting SOs as you go though. Unless your income relies on selling level 4 SOs. But you only get 5 per run anyway, and you easily have 5 open slots (less if you actually use them, and if you aren't using them then why do you care?)...

You could try slotting them... It's not like you get 10 at once.

Also if you're doing back-to-back trials you're going to outlevel them in about... 10 minutes.

I don't even bother slotting things (except the new enhancements) until levels 12, 17, and 22. Especially if I'm going to be zipping through levels anyway.

Edit: in other words, each one is roughly the equivalent of one damage DO plus one recharge DO.
    Actually they sort of expire.

They have three effects: Damage, Recharge, and a proc. The damage and recharge are around a +1 or +2 DO in strength. Then you get a proc. But the proc stops working around level 21. By the time you get to 22 and can get SOs they stop being all that useful and I just eliminated them on my new chars by putting SOs on top of them.

They are however amazingly powerful and useful. For low level characters they let your actual powers do enough damage and recharge fast enough that you won't even bother with things like the Nemesis Staff. Which used to be the main power in my lowbie attack chain.
