Hi GraeKnight,
You may be aware that the above rules you quoted have always been in effect on these message forums. The revised rules pull from the original rules and nothing has changed in that respect.
If you see posts that are in violation of the rules, you can help us to address them by clicking the "Notify Moderator" button that is found in the lower left of any post.
Thanks!

Yes the rules have always been in place. Does this mean you guys are actually going to start enforcing them? -
Same here. 2 accounts missing slots.

Considering it's pretty much the same people running the show I don't see there being too many negative changes.

My concern is that it'll turn into SWG all over again. Publishers, so far, in my experience are more interested in getting bullet point features onto their marketting promotions and on packaging as possible rather than actually adding features that are of use and are of a high quality. Take a look at SWG and its development history, it has alot of 'features' but their half broken and the publishers didn't care because in the end it looks good from a marketting angle.
Cryptic have proven themselves to have the attitude that if something is to be done, then it HAS to be done well. That kind of attitude is why I'd give any game they made a decent look because thats how games should be made. However NCSoft is a complete unknown except for Tabula Rasa which I have seen first hand and it smells of the same kind of attitude which dragged SWG into the gutter. Lots of features, not polished and features added which don't actually improve the experience for the player.
While the development control is with the devs still the choices in where the budget is spent and where deadlines are made is more firmly in the hands of the publisher now, not the dev team.
[/ QUOTE ]
NCSoft is not a complete unknown by any means., Lineage and LineageII were/are huge games, then you have Guild Wars and Dungeon Runners too. Tabula Rasa is a new game trying to find a niche for itself, I wouldn't base an opinion about NCSoft on that game alone.
Also, NCSoft has a head start. It can learn from where others have already failed. It's a pretty safe bet they aren't going to follow SOE's business and development models. -
[ QUOTE ]
Frankly I feel unsettled that development control being taken away from Cryptic and given to NCSoft. I have yet to see a game where executives sitting in offices have understood what is best for the game compared to the developers who are working with it directly and have experience from their successes and mistakes.
This might be what finally makes me leave the CoX community should the devs/corperation goons not keep to the original vision that Cryptic has laid out for them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Considering it's pretty much the same people running the show I don't see there being too many negative changes. Remember, NCSoft has had a financial investment in this game the entire time, from development on, that usually comes along with some decision making on the creative side as well. -

Scrappers need some help there too. Only 4 secondaries to choose from.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agree, but the issue is bigger if you are talking about your primary. Heck even masterminds are getting a thug set to bump up their set count. Even so i do think scrappers should at least get a variant of Ninjitsu

I would rather content and cool toys to be released as they are finished. That way we can be only slightly dissapointed an update at a time rather than just one huge dissapointment every few months.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would rather they just stop disappointing us.
I agree with you about releasing as it's done. Paying to wait for nothing gets old pretty fast. -
I had this happen with my MM. Family, single minion, +2 to me came running around a building and fired at me as soon as LOS was established. Wasn't a wandering mob and was not within aggro range. I was just standing in front of a building chatting and he shows up.

Hmm, does 2 cities really count as a "tour"?

That happened and set the precedent for BAB changing. He's starring in the sequel. -
One question about this, and it's for info only.
What kind of defense percentage are you achieving with the CJ/Weave/Perma-Hasten combo?
I add Hasten because it has a base +def in there around 5% or something(unsure of number, just recalling what I've read somewhere) -

No - that isn't what I said. As long as either YOU or YOUR teammate is within 200 ft., you'll get credit for the defeat.
[/ QUOTE ]
Uhm... States that makes no sense.
If your teammate is within 200', and you can be anywhere... why even have the range? I'm confused.
[/ QUOTE ]
This statement applies only to badge credit and #'s for defeat X hunt missions, you still don't get xp for it if you are outside of the 300' range but it will still count towards the numbers needed as long as someone on the team is within 200' of the defeated mob. -

u realize that this really doesnt stop the power levelers.??
most power levelers heard the wolves into a single area its not hard to move the others to an area within the 300ft area.
seems like a lot of work for not.
[/ QUOTE ]
Those missions are timed now.
Howeve I really don't understand why the blinky hunt gives you more time than the one to kill Shadowhunter and blinky hunt. That makes no sense.

"Not in the face!"

People that had the wolf missions before the timer was implemented still don't have a timer on it.
I agree the blinky mission giving more time than the AV+blinky is ridiculous.
And Statesman, can we PLEASE get a clarification on the death timer in missions. I can deal with it street hunting but 1 minute in missions would not be anywhere near enough time. -

Lastly, a quick question: How does this effect badge credit? I NEVER do hunt badges within 300 yds of my teammates, often a mile or more away. Like many players, I've put a lot of time into collecting my hunt badges, solo and in teams. I currently have all of them (except for isolator, which I did not have the option of getting). If I had to stay close to teamates to get badge credit however, I definitely wouldn't have bothered with many of them.
[/ QUOTE ]
According to Statesman, this change doesn't affect badges AT ALL. This system IS ALREADY IN EFFECT on badges. So if you've been doing something with badges, you can STILL do it now.
[/ QUOTE ]
Tsoo as an example, in Steel Canyon. You are coming off the train from atlas, rest of team is hanging out near Icon, taking down sorcerers for the badge. You still get credit towards the badge, as long as someone on the team is within 200' of defeated MOB(which really shouldn't be a problem) but no xp for the defeat unless you are within 300 feet. Same goes for defeat X missions. -

O.

Meaning you'll get credit for kill x missions or badges but still not the xp from the defeat if you're out of range. Might want to quote the whole thing so people don't get confused again -

Now I wouldn't say that Powerlevelers are going to ruin CoH, but they have a very negative impact on the game. For example, if you team with someone who has been powerleveled, you never know what you're getting out of them. Just because they have the powers doesn't mean they have any idea how to use them.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you team with anyone you never know what you're going to get out of them if you've never teamed with them before. Just because someone has managed to get to a certain level doesn't always mean they know how to use the powers. Any idiot can level up eventually.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, but we're level 50. Any idiot can't make it to that level without powerleveling. He'd be getting debt way too fast and being kicked out of every team.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nah, he could make it eventually. You can make 50 soloing white minions on the street eventually. And at 50, what are we worried about anyway? XP isn't a concern, and what's debt slowing you down from? -

I think with the number of reasons that someone could be dead for over a minute and still deserve xp that the death timer needs to be looked at still. A 4-5 minute timer would probably be a little more appropriate as this gives time to finish up the fight that you were involved in and rez 1 or 2 people.
This also doesn't account for support AT's doing their job and running out of range.
The changes make it a little better but still changes gameplay for a lot of casual players while still leaving open the most widely used PL practices.
As for the defeat X and badge tasks already needing to be within 200', I've never seen that on live. Defeating needed MOBs anywhere in the zone counts towards the mission goal/badge currently. At least it always has for me. -
Sailboat and Dodger all I have to say is you guys owe me a new monitor.
