  1. Check out this thread:
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=117256

Amazing binds that helps with the controlling of your pets substantially. Sometimes the protector bots run in and try to do some melee and other times your bots will chase a mob. If you see them doing that tap follow to get them back and just set them to attack again and that should work itself out. Also try to web grenade runners, that helps out your crew a lot I find that I just end up running into melee range and just having them follow until I get some traps set up then push attack and then lay down the destruction. This isn't totally effective though until you get AT LEAST force field generator.

    Hope that helps some.
  2. I hate to say it because I love PvP, but the intelligence levels in these threads is far surpassed by the "carebear" threads.

On a serious note, I've only heard good things about Fire/Regen in terms of PvP because most players do not focus on Fire Defense/Resists. Also, as stated earlier multiple times, Regen is godly in PvP if played correctly because of, well, your massive Regen. Stick with your Fire/Regen and you'll do fine.
  3. Thanks for the awesome video and build. Your "guide" helped me make my decision to make a Bots/Traps MM as my first Villain (always liked "pet" classes, was a controller on hero side). Now I just have to make all that infamy to supply him with the tools to own that good...

My main is a scrapper and I've found it extremely uninteresting to go very far with other classes, even on the villain side. Such being the case, I have to defend the scrapper boards a little. Yes, most of the posts there show how to get the uber build, which of course requires the uber shineys, but I've also seen a good number of posts on how to create less expensive, yet quite effective, builds.

Often somebody will come into the scrapper domain and ask how they can even afford 'cheap' build and they are referred here to the market forum to learn how to make influence. I wouldn't say this is because of any lack of knowledge on their parts, but because this is where all the knowledge of the ages is stored when it comes to profiting from the use of the market.

It always makes me roll my eyes to hear somebody say that using the market is not playing the game as intended. I know nobody has been so disparaging on this particular thread, but I feel like writing right now so if you're loosing interest in the post, I'll understand if you say TL;DR and move on.

The market is a wonderful tool in being able to complete enhancement sets. Could you imagine how much time you'd have to sink into this game hoping for that one drop to finally get the sixth enhancement in a set after waiting for what seems an eternity for the other five. Personally, I think I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a spoon.

I know there are advocates of the store, but those who make this demand, I think, fail to realize the business aspect of an MMO. In order to make a profit, people have to play the game. If everything is automatically available at low prices in a store, things could be acquired extremely quickly and then you'd be stuck in the waiting game for more content or a new power set proliferation or some other feature that would hold your interest. I think the 'drop rate' of new content is such that people would probably loose interest and move away from the game. Too few players in the game means that the game would dwindle until it would finally be scrapped.

The bottom line is that you can get enjoy the bulk of this game on SOs. It is enhanced with the various invention sets, but that enhancement takes some investment and time to acquire, thus making the game thrive and continue to exist because the subscription fees continue to roll in. If you want the best sets, you need to be prepared to invest the best amount of time.
I'm not totally putting down the scrapper forums but most of what I see there is super expensive IO set builds. Admittedly there are a few cheap ones every once in a while which I like to see, just a majority isn't. I have no objection to using the market for ones own personal game and it is totally part of this game and any game with a auction market. In my opinion, if you aren't using the market efficiently, you aren't getting the most out of your character.

True, I didn't look at it from that aspect. And yes you're right Organica, they will show you how to min/max with uber amounts of inf that only the market pros have :P. Thanks for clearing that up Agent.
  6. I believe you should have posted this in the scrapper forums.
  7. Like the others have said, Victory was good for a week but this weekend the red is back! What is it with the weekends? Seems like if this happens a lot it might alienate those who can only play on the weekends. Also these lag problems only seem to be happening for those unlucky west coasters who chose an east coast server, at least I asked others who said they had no lag or red bars and they were all on the east coast. Strange...

Edit: Also the lag seems to make loading up the character screen from selecting the server take much longer.

Victory Badges is full. Nobody can join unless someone leaves.
Victory Badges 2009 is the overflow channel. New people generally go there.
The original intent was that everyone abandon VB and go to VB2k9, but LOTS of people "stayed in old VB just in case something formed there", and then just continued their regular activity in VB, mostly out of habit. End result is that the busier channel is the one that new people can't join. :/
Ah dang, well I'll see whats happenin' in the VB 2k9 channel

While I don't use Victory Forum often, it is still a good channel for finding teams and TFs - by all means check out that one too! Just as a warning: The last time I was in VF, it was set to auto-silence all new members, because the RMT spammers were joining and flooding the channel with ads. If you're auto-silenced, find a channel mod, and send them a /tell and they'll unsilence you.

Welcome back, and welcome to Victory!

Wait... "Victory Badges of Facebook"? I was sure I had typed "on"... No more posting that late for me!
I meant the in-game channel for VB but I got onto the VB facebook group easily. Thanks for the response!

If you AREN'T a member of those channels, and still would like to share photos/screenshots and stories, form teams and TFs, or anything else related to Victory, Badges, or CoH, you're still welcome to join!
The Victory Badges channel is full but I'd assume the 2009 channel is not. I'll have to check into that.
  11. Also experiencing these issues and constant red bar lag. It would be nice if I could transfer my characters to a west coast server for free but I know that won't happen . I just hope they fix these issues before it becomes a major deterrent for everyone.

    Server: Victory
    Location: Northern California
    ISP: Surewest
    Connection: DSL
