Also I think there are really more than two sides to this debate /argument/contest of wills / donnybrook .
-
Quote:the only point of posting the above is to point out that both sides of the debate have slid into name calling at times , why even in this very thread !send your thank you notes to the politically sanctimonious for that little gem, i love when people shove their politics into my fun, dont you?

Quote:I've come to belive a standard 3/4 profile shot is a bit of a cop out for a professional artist , its good for say the design stage but this is more what I expect from a budding amatuer like me then say a professional .Honestly, I actually like that pic of Bishop. About the only real problem I have is his hands are too long (they look like they'd come down to his knees), but everything else works for me. I mean, yeah, it looks like he'll pop a vein in his heart any second now, but that's kind of the point, I think, at least judging by the caption box saying he should relax for a change.
but we can chalk it up to different artistic tastes
and im glad im not the only one that noticed the arms , seriously though if he had a lump of coal in his shorts it would be a diamond by now . -
Quote:I've used that trick too for a touch of added class , nice post by the way I tend to agree with it .those are Boxing Boots underneath those Slacks Pants. Nothing else in the inventory has quite that same Leather Wing Tip Shoes look ... unfortunately.
honestly my characters are all over the place in terms of costuming , my main looks pretty much like my avatar and thus could be considered to show acres of skin if you belive petes dragon the disney flick she is based off of is a skin flick :P
the majority tend to wear full outfits that don't look like runway models for Victorias secret I can think of at least one of mine that does look like she is sponsored by a house of ill repute .
but those are all my choices and not something im shoehorned into by other players , artistic direction or how comics or the super hero genre is supposed to be .
but when im paying additional money above and beyond my subscription for product im not keen on being told "here's the male character costume pretty rough and tumble right kid ? well you can't wear it you can wear this instead ." and my reply is "thats umm kinda breezey and dosn't look at all like what the male characters costume looks like . " and then a sad face -
Quote:personally even if he was wearing a full body stocking / tights which seems to be a traditional male hero costume from comics I still wouldn't want to see him on my character select screen .Just picture him doing the pop dance emote! Go on! PICTURE IT!
That's right! It burns, doesn't it!!!
so im pretty sure this has not made me 'see the error of my way' in terms of wanting the same parts that are strong enough for a man but worn by a woman . -

Quote:I really like this idea , we should get a little something extra for being veeps . not looking for freebies but immediate purchase availability for veebs and everyone else has to buy packs or wait a month or three sounds nifty .I like the "immediate purchase availability for VIPs, frees/preems can only get them in Packs" idea even better, but I'm not holding my breath for that one.
Edit: No torches and pitchforks here...yet.
ps
im eagerly waiting on my pitchfork emote to make forming angry mobs much easier -
Quote:im perfectly fine with this too , great idea .Snark aside, I think this would be the best route, while putting a new costume set into the super pack. Cycling costume sets through various methods of acquisition is a good way to make sure everyone who wants to buy a particular set can, and to make sure that everyone who likes a particular method of acquisition is rewarded for repeat business.
-
I had no issues with the packs as is but im sure this should make alot of folks happy and I won't begrudge them happiness
-
I think i've said my fill here and honestly I am happy for the moment that we are getting the attention we are on this issue (or non issue depending on your point of view )
I wish you all well (even folks i've locked horns with ) and hope we don't find ourselves in the same thread with the next pack . -
Quote:Similar is all we require huh?
Well... I guess I must conclude this is a male stripper pack.
Actually, this looks more similar to the cowboy than the other picture does to the girl.
looks a bit like a brazen Strumpett to me and pretty dead on in terms of what we got (minus the historicly accurate cattle skulls on everything )
I suppose to make my point like you have I could find a picture with a female saloon worker who makes money on the side but has a heart of gold wearing less clothing or minus her top (aka the guy you posted without a shirt even though they come with jackets )
but im at least enjoying this new trend of shirtless cowboys -
Quote:sorta like his constant posting of costumes going "its not a soiled dove set , look at my costumes "This is technically true but it does not make for good conversation. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but if you want it to have any weight or sway it should at least have substance and purpose. Otherwise you're just waving your arms around for attention and speaking in alphabet soup.
-
my oponion and im entitled to it , if you don't like it tough noogies . you showing pictures of your characters hasn't changed my mind on what we lost out on so we could get to dress as a bar wench /soiled dove / person who made a bad career choice in the old west .

Quote:well if it makes you feel better about your purchase I just purchased the pack and I was one of the big arguers against the disparity in the set in the feedback thread, but I really just wanted one thing which was a red name to come in and explain the choices made without a canned response .I tell you, it's rough. I want to boycott the entire pack out of solidarity with the wimminfolk, but the male costume pieces look really darn good. Haven't bought anything yet, though.
I found a nice response from zwill in this thread and im going to take it at face value for now and see how it goes with the next few sets .
We know a knight set is coming down the pipeline , I figure I can wait and see if its another case of guys get to be a knight and girls get to be a sexy princess with a corset and thigh high princess boots .
And the pledge that they will (going forward) make non tinted versions of things they decide to pretint is icing on the proverbial cake for me .
so long story short as of this post im off to purchase the gunslinger/ soiled dove pack as I feel my voice has been heard and my concerns validated with a official response to the issue .
I can't and do not attempt to speak for everyone but for now im feeling pretty happy and have a wait and see attitude . -
they got 27 pages of feedback http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=277846 but I guess it wasn't enough to even warrant a reply in the feedback thread .
but folks did mention concerns in regards to tinting , issues with floating belts and of course the guys are gunslingers / girls get to serve them drinks issue .
im not mad just a bit disapointed , oh well i'll find another windmill to tilt at and simply avoid this pack . -
Quote:The question wasn't directed at me but figured id chime in , I wouldn't buy a 50 but I wouldn't really care if someone else did .Getting characters to 50 and slotting them out. Getting accolades, etc. Enhancements are just another part of the progression, to me. I wouldn't pay to get a character to 50 any more than I'd pay for an enhancement.
Would you pay directly for levels? Just out of curiosity. -
Quote:Bought 30 of the procs and am quite happy with the purchase and hope that more sets go on sale in the paragon market (for reasonable prices )*shakes head at all the players with more money than sense*
oh and I don't have thirty characters that need them , but I like storing them away for when I do . -
Quote:Me and shia tend to draw and redraw alot of stuff when we are working on a project , sometimes i'll draw something I think looks awesome then show it to shia and he has the unfortunate task of letting the wind out of my sails by telling me I placed a thumb on the wrong side of the hand or the cute girl I drew looks crosseyed .Thanks all.
I wasn't happy with Wendy, personally. Her head looked too flat to me, but I couldn't figure out how to make it look right. I'm still really bad with different angles and perspectives. >.> I've been having a lot of fun doing the comic, but sometimes it makes me want to beat my head against the wall for not sticking with the art classes in college. I feel like I'm missing so many of the basics. It doesn't help that I tend to get stressed out and frustrated about things. >.>
my best bit of advice (most for myself ) is sometimes when your hitting a art wall take a step back and do something else for a bit then look it over again usually just clearing my mind works wonders .
ps
the comic is fun and my nieces and nephews whom i watch from time to time like pengi best, catbot is a very close second simply because when you read it aloud to them you are required to use the catbot voice "CATBOT LOVES TO NAP IN SUNBEAMS !" -
mwahahahaha I finally get to say it "First post after a red name !"
I like this one best and it printout honors my fridge .
but if you are looking for more traditional art this one isn't too bad
Dragonberry vs the Freakshow
Art by Deebs (thatsa me )

This really dosn't bother me at all , im not sure why I should care if someone buys IO's from the store , on the market , off market or whatever . It dosn't really affect my enjoyment of the game .
though if you want my money you need to toss more costumes up on the store , im getting tired of not being able to give you my money because you are testing the waters with things like the zombie survival pack . -
I've had the luck of being able to particapate in quite a few rpvp events , they are usually pretty fun , have a plot and a purpose and seem to be a nice way to meet new folks (and kick their teeth in ) .
no you likely can't stand toe to toe with a single opponent without someone droping by to (drop kick you in the face ) and you will very much eat pavement at some point (everyone does ) and be bested in a way that may well seem cheap if your taking it a bit too seriously (seriously your in tights trading quips with other people in tights ...why so srs ).
but its usually great fun , for me its the epic cross over mega event fight where laser blasts , missles and magic arc across the battlefield and your not even sure what power that guy just used on you but it took off half your life bar .
broadcast is usually a jumble of rp and folks goofing off and i've often seen folks swap characters when a side was unbalanced and it was starting to get unfun .
anyway , next time one pops up give it a shot you might be surprised .
ps
added a screen shot from the Black Christmas event a year or three ago (I recognise most if not all of the names in the broadcast as rp'ers )

Quote:Sweet ! im really intrested to see a base designed as a rocket board track so i'll likely pop on next time I log into Exalted (my vacation server with lots of free names )Its not his channel. Its mine. You are welcome to join if you enjoy rocketboarding.
