Quote:This happened to an old account of mine. I lost the names, and was asked to rename them upon logging in.At one point, I thought I remembered them discussing introducing an autopurge system If I recall, it would put your character names into the "Available" name pool (but not rename your toons) if your account had not logged into that server for 90 days (don't remember the exact duration, but I believe it was 90 days). If no one grabbed the name, your characters would stay as is If someone did take a name you were using, your character would be Generic Named and you would get a free rename token. By doing it that way, it wasn't necessary for you to login to every character you had As long as you logged into your account at all, your names were safe.
Not sure what ever happened to that idea, or whether the entire thing was just some odd dream I had and never actually happened. -
I wish the "be more original" guys get off their high horse.
And for the record, all the arrogant people listing the names they "luckily" snagged and preaching to others to use a thesaurus?
Yeah, they are terrible. Really. The only way you get a name in CoH on a populated server is because it's one nobody wants.
And despite what anybody says, if you want the name "Meltdown".... well, "Captain Meltdown" and "Mr. Meltdown" and "Green Meltdown" are all horrible compared to.
Also: It's ridiculous to refer to people who haven't played the game in three years as "paying customers". -
... But CoH is one of the best hero MMOs of all time. ALL TIME!!
*Hands the mic.* -
I figured as much. Problem being that neither backspace nor delete remove these characters.
So I just have blocks upon blocks of empty space.
It doesn't matter. It happens to all of my characters, to the point where I just carefully edit it at creation, and never touch it again. Which is a shame because I really like the idea of having a bio other people can view if/when they want.
It frustrated me so much I just remade the character. I guess it doesn't matter. Thanks. -
I'd like to shake hands with the person who coded this.
They somehow managed to break notepad.
Bravo. -
I decided to delete my ID in order to refresh the character, and now it says that there is 75/1024 characters displayed when it is clearly blank.
I can't put in any text at all within the first... 20 ... or so lines. You'd have to scroll down my info in order to see it.
Why the hell does it do this, and how do I fix it? It's frustrating the hell out of me. -
I get it, you throw Ball Lightning first so you don't get the two confused.
I mixed them up the first time I saw them, too.
Gnarly joke: And the numbers.
NARF! -
Z....zzz...zap.
Wait, that's it? -
Argh. I'm trying to make my introduction post after i16 drops so I can be on my new main.
Here's hoping for tomorrow. -
I started making a mental note of the first, capitalized letter in each word thinking I'd find some super-awesome hatespeak.
Disappointed. -
Quote:Some people will argue my logic, but here is how I usually slot.
Up until level 12, I slot TOs that I find. I don't actually PURCHASE any though.
From 12 - 21 I slot DOs
From 22 - 31 I slot SOs
From 32+ I start moving over to IOs as I can afford them.
Okay, so, you actually buy full sets and replace DOs and SOs as they turn red? Then... around 32 you start getting IOs. Do you ... then just level to 50, and proceed towards level 50 IOs?
With that logic, if you're shopping for a new character, you'd then be looking for level 35 IOs?
I guess to focus my question, I'm wondering the importance of IOs and IO sets while leveling... and if I should focus on getting a full set as soon as I hit 35, or using SOs until 50 and trying to sort out an "endgame". -
As I'm considering (finally) selecting a main, I have a question as someone who was always too lazy to play the market, and just settled for SOs --
When do you slot IOs? What level?
Some builds (not necessarily designated a "leveling build") have various level IOs slotted; while others only have level 50s.
Are the lower ones smaller, more affordable ways to get to the cap of things?
I'm sorry if it's a noob question, but it's burning my simple soul. -
Quote:current price on that glad armor 3% your using is 1.5 billion deth
i however have looked into elec armor myself and going alittle of both routes..
with the glad strikes bonus's i can actually get my a/l resist to 89.7%..leaving me only .3% away from the cap
however i spread out the defense between postional and s/l so i got 34% s/l and 37% melee defense
i wont be soft capped but all that defense and being capped in s/l resist will help him more then i can say.
my build isnt easy though but he'll be a friggin monster for sure..yeah the price is crazy and im broke for sure now..hopefully i can get a few purple drops when i go back to reg mishs in iss 16 to help the pain of being broke.
but these numbers say alot about what you "could" build given the time...yeah its easier with some tanks then others..but who wants to be that bored
If you had a more affordable alternative, I'd love to hear it. I'm a noob.
And could use the advice. -
I always thought it was using "temp" to portray... quality of, as opposed to duration.
It's slightly invulnerable... or... nearly invulnerable.
I don't know if that makes sense. -
Quote:I need to follow your example Westley. I find myself in a catch 22. I login to live and get on a toon and then think, "You know, it would be much better if I wait until I16 to do this. Then I can do it like this.".
I go over to test, pop on a toon, and I think, "Well, I could do this now, but I am just gonna have to do it again when I16 hits live."
I have therefore spent the better part of what would be my play time on the forums instead. As in, I have been here for hours now, reading and responding, and reading, and responding.
But now that I think about it, posting will be so much better once Issue 16 hits live. Then those people who haven't looked at it on test will stop speculating about the doom it will bring with nothing to back them up. Jeez! I am hopeless! PLLLEEAAAASEEE get the bugs worked out so you can give us Issue 16 soon!
My feelings exactly expressed into words... -
I managed to somehow convince myself that the only chars I need to play are Elec/WM, Spines/Fire (with the customization, no bananas plz), and rad/mm.
So. Yeah. I'm just counting the days, really. i16 is so awesome, I'm bored of live servers. -
Quote:here is a little impression of what this build could do
|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
... Err no Tough?
I like it, though. I'm going to cannibalize it with Fly (I just realized my last build had it missing), and plug in Block of Ice and Shiver somewhere for theme.
Hmm. Thanks. -
I'm not trying to talk down to you. It was just kinda petty to pop in, say EA sucks, and leave it at that.
That's all. -

As far as IOs go, I only have a few hobbled together sources from Brute forums and our own lovable tankers. Please pick this apart. This is my first character I care enough to download Mids for. -
Any nice RP-themed SGs doing any recruiting?
Looking for a forever home for my host of Marvel-esque misfits. Some teen mutants, some golden age powerhouses, some magic origin.
Get at me. Global is the same as forum name. -
-
Heavy. Leather. Belt.
Non-negotiable. It's either this belt, Jewel if going for a classic look, or no belt. I don't want to hear it.
P.S. - I see those Valkyrie boots EVERYWHERE. On EVERY concept. -
Rather than make a new topic, can anyone help me out with my Elec/WM? I'm looking for something relatively... affordable.
Just a basic PvE jumping off point to get me back into CoH with my Thor homage.
Cold for the APP if applicable. -
Inneressin'.
I'm having trouble coming up with a solid build. I can never figure out if/when to fit tough/weave; that sort of thing.
I'm more of a Scrapper, truthfully. This'll be my first big Tanker.
As far as APP go, I'm looking at Cold for theme. -
I loved MUDs, dude. That was well done.
I sometimes parrot "You don't see any I NEED HEALZ here." in game...
Nobody gets me.
