His name is Shazam now. :|
DC officially changed it because a lot of non-comic fans think that was his name anyways.
I already knew this but it still saddens me in ways many cannot imagine.

And I'll point out that superhero comics where the heroes fight god monsters every day aren't particularly popular anymore. There was a time in the 60's and 70's where the Power Cosmic aspect of superheroes was big news, but most people prefer Spider-Man and Batman to Silver Surfer. Silver Surfer doesn't sit around in a big fictional New York, he flies through the stars.
It makes no difference to your argument, but for the vast majority of the '60s and '70s, the Surfer indeed "sat around in a big fictional New York", or at least wandered a fictional Earth. He was trapped here and didn't do any "flying through the stars" during that period. Mostly he found remote rocky shores where Stan had him constantly soliloquizing about the nature of existence (Stan's version of "deep", I suppose).

I was able to access auras with no problem on my guys who'd unlocked them even before I dropped the points for the level 1 unlock.
This is my experience as well (except for the level 1 unlock, which I have not bought). If you're VIP and your 50 doesn't still have the Auras you unlocked, something's wrong. Mine are all still there.

Hey, welcome back Dec! Good to see a familiar mask.
Thanks! It is good to be back. I was a little surprised looking around how many "old masks" I remember, but I suppose I shouldn't be. A year and a half is only a long time in the game, not real life.

My definition of player skill has a few criteria:

    1a) Are you having fun?
1b) Is your fun impeding MY fun?

If the first is Yes, and the second is No, I'm good.
I'm with this one. Fun is what it's all about (however one personally defines it). Nothing worse than playing with people who aren't having fun.

If you say da woid, you get da boid!

  7. I'm fairly newly returned after about a year and a half off, and I have to say I'm fully in favor of the way they have it set up now. I feel pretty VIP, especially after creating a separate "Free" account to see what they DON'T have.

Hey, I only said it has its place. For me, that's for things like "Should we explore this old comic book trope simply because it's a super-heroey thing to do?" For example, the Doppleganger missions were a MUST for me, simply because it's a "trope checklist item". When it comes to mechanics and how things actually work, no, that has to be for the gamers, not the super-hero geeks (like me).

I think the "comics" argument has its place, but game mechanics take precedence. Especially in this area.

I'm two years away and Johnny hasn't changed a bit, huh?
  10. It was...similar to insanity, if not quite there. "Stir crazy" is a pretty good phrase.

I did have some comp access at work, but none of those damned machines had even close enough specs to play CoX.
  11. Well, after almost a year and a half without a computer, I'm finally rigged up and back in the game! Heh, boy has a lot changed and since my computer died two days after I19 dropped, I'll probably have to spend my first month doing 35 or so respecs. Good to be "home" though.
  12. Characters in Praetoria aren't supposed to have Police Scanners.

What'd, someone dig out the emote code or is that just a weird "new issue glitch"?
  13. I, personally, have always loved the lowbie game. I think some of the struggling in Praetoria may have to do with the fact that people rush through that period so quickly that they've forgotten how to actually play at that level any more.
  14. I don't think the tutorial guy appears until you get your first tip, does he?
  15. There should be a little toggle on the page somewhere, I forget exactly where. Down near the bottom, I believe.
  16. I saw a thread saying that. But I also saw people saying it was in beta and unlikely to remain that way in the same thread. No idea how the numbers actually came out, though.
  17. That's the trade off with def. When you get hit, you get hit HARD. It's all or nothing (kind of).

    Ambushes - FFS

Sheesh, how are you guys even keeping Frosty alive? I've worked with him three or four times and can't keep him from running into melee and getting his butt kicked almost immediately. Even if I pull, he seems to see the next group and go right for them after we've defeated the pulled one.

On topic, yeah, some of the ambushes are overkill, but I see them tweaking them in the patch notes, so I assume they're working on it behind the scenes.

    Can't decide

I wouldn't put Death redside for the sole reason that I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be working for anyone else, even Arachnos.
  21. Eh, they're all dumb, to one extent or another. I think the tie-in is just cutesy enough to make me smirk but not enough to gag.

I call it money all the time in-game and no one misses a beat as to what I'm talking about.

    IanTheM1 has the angle:

My general guideline is that the character should usually be the opposite faction-wise than they are in Earth Prime (so villains become Resistance, heroes to Loyalists), but everything else is open-ended.

In short, Praetoria is not "opposite world" it's "what if the heroes were villains and vice versa?" world. It's rather fun seeing exactly how you can twist your characters towards the other side.

Plus, if you want to really strive for authenticity, you have to keep in mind that Praetoria's backstory is massively different from Earth Prime's. Lots of things that happened in Paragon didn't in Praetoria, as well as the reverse. This could lead a character to being incredibly different or incredibly similar.

Sadly, most of mine ended up dead or never-weres. Perils of having too many links between them. The ones that didn't could be...interesting, though.
