Nobody needs this stuff. We want it.
If you want it, you have to earn it. There is a path to earn it. If you don't like that path, you can go the other way. It's longer.
I want PvP IOs, but I don't want to PvP. I am forced to do tip missions until I obtain them. I'm ok with that. If I wanted the shinies of the end game without participating in the end game, I'd be ok with the long way I've chosen to play. -
Quote:Ok, that's great. Now justify why the casual players needs these shinies, and why these are different than other shinies. So there are your calculations. No matter which way you slice it you're looking at completely unrealistic expectations. Even at the base level you're looking at 2.7 years and billions of inf. Shortening the time involved (which would still take nearly at year even at "omgwtfbbq" levels of farming) only drastically increases the effort required.
It's been said before with IOs and purple IOs and PvP IOs and hami-Os. These things are very rare. They are specific rewards for specific things. If you want those rewards, you do those specific things. Villain merits will allow you to get one PvP IO after 60 days of running tips. You can have one PvP set in one year. You can have one Very Rare incarnate ability in less than that.
Show me the disparity. -
I've had the Sand Armor thing going for quite a while on my Dark Armor tank that Sucks.
I've seen the same treatment given to dark miasma and even storm summoning. I really like how it looks. -

Quote:Please see my reply above. I'm arguably one of the squishiest ATs out there when inside that maze, yet I'm able to cope. The Lambda trial just can't be fixed. As designed, the speed-run through the labs is just never going to be fun for squishies. It's a badly designed trial but I think we're just going to have to accept it for what it is. Which is a shame, as the final fight in Lambda is very satisfying -- I like that fight better than any of the Siege or Nightstar encounters.
It is not poorly designed. You just need to adapt. -
Quote:Yes, we can use our Incarnate powers elsewhere. But if you're not doing incarnate designed content, you don't need them. While I have enjoyed the trials (only 3 runs total for me though), I have to say I don't understand that question, Dechs (and, no, you're not the first I've seen ask it).
...
If that were the case, then we wouldn't be able to use our Incarnate Powers elsewhere.
Oh wait... we can.
Sorry, but that argument holds no water.
If you're a solo player in a massive multiplayer game, and some rewards are out of your reach because you choose not to involve yourself in that content, then I'm sorry. The fact that the devs even provided a way to obtain these rewards without participating in the content is a gift.
This is all in my opinion, of course. I don't see a reason to change it. I haven't seen a compelling argument that it needs to be changed. As EvilGeko pointed out, anyone who doesn't like it has the burden of proof. -
Quote:I just want to say that I've actually had surprisingly little trouble with this on a Bots/Traps mastermind. Now, before you jump on me and say "Bots/Traps is invincible," remember that henchmen are not nearly as mobile as the mastermind is. When the mastermind leaves his henchmen on the other side of a wall, his bodyguard mode is gone. The pets are quite fragile on their own, as well. Despite all this, it's doable. One of the things to leverage is the taunt auras that your league's brutes/scrappers/tanks have. Just follow close to them, most of the attention will stay off of yourself. The smash-and-grab
Uuuuuugh. Uuuuuuuuuugh, you guys. This is where my ignorance comes into play: Every time I've done this trial, the leader has basically gone, 'okay, we run in to the spawns with boxes, then blow up the boxes! Ignore all the enemies!' Which leads to the more durable Scrappers/Tanks/Brutes charging through the mission, while most of the squishies trail after them and get horribly maimed to death over and over. My own quasi-main, my Earth/Fire Dominator, has PFF and is invisible, so it's not a huge inconvenience for me personally, except that it usually ends up with about three people trying to do this entire phase alone as a result. For all I know, you get extra time every time you kill a spawn and my leaders are just ignorant, but if this phase is best handled by stealthing, that's kinda bad design in my opinion. This isn't a standard glowy hunt; the boxes are surrounded by level 54s. -
Quote:I dunno what problems you're having with Lambda, but I've yet to fail more than one in about 15 runs.Because I do the trials?
My problem with the Solo/Conversion path is that it is the ONLY alternative to the Lambda/BAF repeat system. And lets all be honest, its the BAF repeat system.
Also, it's the only alternative for now.
Quote:I am not a soloer, but I get tired of grinding the same trial over and over. There currently isn't anyway for me to progress on my toons (SOLO or GROUPED) that isn't a engineered waste of time and an insult to my intelligence.
The trials are fun, I enjoy running them as many times as it takes because I enjoy the company of 15 (23) other friends. It's better than running ITFs ad naseum. -
Let me ask a stupid question.
If you don't intend to do the trials, what need have you of the trial rewards? -
I agree with everything in this post.

This is awesome.
I have no more to say.
EDIT: Just watched the video, and I do have something more to say. I adore scourge. It amazes me how quickly the last 25% of his health goes down. You can see the speed pick up right at 50%, but once 25% is reached, it's like he's already dead. -

No form powers are in my trays until I'm in that form, I use binds to swap my bottom try to the proper form.
As for the rest of it, from my guide:

I don't know about you, but I'm astounded by the myriad of powers available to us. As such, power management becomes essential to the efficient eatinating of your enemies' essences (alliteration aside). I've already mentioned keeping your nova and dwarf powers in their own trays and letting binds swap them around for you. This keeps form powers from cluttering up your normal trays.
First, I recommend expanding to all three trays full time. Now take a moment to think about the powers you don't need to put in the trays. Your Teleport power doesn't need to be there since you already have a bind for it and it doesn't have a recharge time. Likewise, the form toggles don't need to be in the trays anywhere. The powers you got from levels 1-4 probably don't need somewhere to go because you likely haven't slotted them at all and thus won't use them. Hasten may need a spot, but if you never take it off auto it won't. If you're like me, you have three concealment powers that you'll never turn on.
Keep in mind that the top two trays will never change as you dance between forms. This is important because quite a few of your powers are on long timers and you want to use as soon as they're ready. To keep an eye on these powers, such as Dark Extraction or Eclipse, you should put them in the top trays. Even if they're grayed out while you're in a nova/dwarf, they will still flash when they finish recharging. Other good powers for up here are Sunless Mire, Unchain Essence, Quasar, and even Stygian Circle. I know circle recharges fast, but if you need to drop forms to use it, you better be sure it's ready.
That leaves the few attacks and some utility powers that can be put in the first tray. These powers are generally always up. Gravity Well should go here, as well as Gravitic Emanation. I also put my vet attacks in this tray. It makes sense to put Shadow Recall here as well as the situational powers like Inky Aspect or Starless Step if you took them.
One last tip: Put accolade powers like Geas and Eye of the Magus in your top trays. These can be used *while shapeshifted.* Also worth noting while we're on the subject is that accolade powers are affected by global recharge bonuses, of which you should have a lot. -

Unless your in game global is something other than @ClawsandEffect, I don't think I've had the pleasure of playing with you. So I have to ask, have you seen my tank in action?
Quote:In most mob types he CAN jump in and go make a sandwich. And come back to find that his Death Shroud has killed the whole spawn while he is untouched.
Quote:My wife's tank has a similar build, and hers is just as tough.
Quote:Though he is mistaken on one count: He could NOT have done that at the introduction of IO sets. When IOs were first released Kinetic Combat only gave Lethal defense, and Eradication didn't exist yet. Since there wasn't a set that he could make extensive use of to get lots of E/N defense, anything that threw lots of energy damage would have slaughtered him at that difficulty (energy is Dark Armor's lowest resistance by a rather wide margin) -
Quote:So... two issues ago?*There's a difficulty slider isn't there? When you can blow through +4x8 with no risk of dying, then complain.
*I mean this from a strictly personal timeline sense. My dark tank was doing this two issues ago, but could have theoretically done it with the introduction of invention sets. -
Oh, believe me, the warshade is 10 times more fun than the bots/traps, but there's no disputing the overall strength of one vs. the other.
The warshade can solo x8 maps.
The warshade is absolutely awesome on a team.
The warshade can have status protection.
The warshade has 85% resist all.
The warshade has three damage dealing pets.
The bots/traps can solo x8 maps and Giant Monsters.
The bots/traps makes the whole team absolutely awesome.
The bots/traps always has status protection.
The bots/traps effectively has 75% resist all and softcapped defense to S/L and ranged.
The bots/traps has six commandable damage dealing henchmen that sit at the softcap to everything and heal each other. -
Initially, incarnate powers did not work in forms. In beta, we were informed this was indeed a bug. They fixed it in beta, but if what you're saying is true, then they fixed a few things.
Quote:BWUH?!?! That's awesome! So I clicked on Secondary mutation in nova, and voila, it worked. Stealth fix? It's not in the patch notes. Ninja run, as well, seems to stay toggled on when you go into forms, which does nothing to nova but makes dwarf... interesting.
1000% agree. No that's not a typo. -
-
They all deal the same damage. They are affected by Alpha slotting.
Judgement isn't affected by buffs. -
No mids on me while I'm at work, but it looks like you're going the right direction. I see all the important stuff: Oppressive Gloom, Theft of Essence proc, defense bonus granting sets.
What I will say is that you have more than enough slots in Oppressive Gloom. I find that the power doesn't need more than the original slot if you just give it a common accuracy IO. Likewise, I think Hasten has too many slots. The third one is largely wasted enhancement value. I'm not sure the best place to put those extra slots, but I'm sure there's somewhere you were looking for another bit of end/dmg/rchg/acc or whatever.
One of the ways to make Dark Regeneration stronger is to get a larger pool of hitpoints. Enhancing its heal value doesn't do much because once you have more than two enemies around, you always get a full bar of health back. Recharge is important, but I have to admit, I think you've almost gone overboard with that. Try to find places you can grab +max HP bonuses. You'll see a lot of returns from that.
I'd definitely go with Cardiac alpha if I were you. -
Mastermind is the way to go. They can likely solo AVs on SOs alone.
With my bots/traps I have solo'd Kraken, Scrapyard, Deathsurge, and one of the mushroom monsters in the Hive.
I cannot stress this enough, though: You must leverage Bodyguard Mode!
