It will be funny to see the first all-Hero AT team demolish the LRSF.
[/ QUOTE ]
Watch it be 6 trollers/defs, 1 stone tank, and 1 pity spot for a blaster/scrapper.
...
wait, why does that sound familiar? -
Going to reserve full judgement till we get a ton more info, but for now, cautiously pessimistic; not all that thrilled about side-switching (however they'll integrate it into the game). Complain about lack of content redside? Well just side-switch to blue.. hmm. They've got to be very very cautious about this.
And the more I think about it, what about all the possible power adjustments for balancing issues? That alone sounds like a nasty headache. For example, we know that brute defenses are, iirc, 75% of tanker normals. Soo.. why wouldn't folks want to side-switch a tank to redside for the added shields for whatever reason?
Also, teaming; we've talked about it before, whether here or elsewhere, blue side ATs are more.. independent of others, as opposed to redside, which is more.. interconnected? If you side switch blue to red, what will that do to teaming dynamics, if anything?
(And yes, i'm thinking about the badges as well. There's got to be some catches to this, otherwise you've almost doubled the amount of badges to get in the game, inf could get kicked around like crazy, probably merge the markets, etc etc etc) -
Any chance of a mention in the CoV badges section about how some of the defeat badges...for lack of a better phrase, 'require' farming to obtain?
Specifically, Outcasts (Weatherman/Weatherwoman), Trolls (Regenerator), Overseers (Visionary), and to a smaller extent, Skulls (Kil Skuls, Bonecrusher), Hellions (Hellspawned), and maybe Master Illusionist spawns (Illusionist). -
Going through Kong's points one by one:

[ QUOTE ]
Don't Skulls and Hellions already take Supradyne? I thought they just didn't turn into Dyneheads like the Trolls because they're wimps and can't get very much normally.
[/ QUOTE ]
Negative. Going off of the information provided on the CoH wiki pages, Skulls are simply a gang; the Bone Daddies get their normal powers through some netherworld ritual or something. No 'dyne involved. As for the Hellions, they pick up their powers through magic (or whatever you want to call it) rituals performed as they do more crimes. Also, no 'dyne involved.
[ QUOTE ]
Why are Nemesis troops helping a Skull EB? And a Hellion EB?
[/ QUOTE ]
The idea was to have them doing some sort of 'duke-em-out' bit, like we've seen in various other dev-created missions. However, I was not able to find such an emote for the EB/AVs or the Nem group, so it is what it is.
[ QUOTE ]
Is there any point in making the last mission timed?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, if you want to leave some overpowered skulls, hellions, and your standard Lord Nemesis just hanging out having a costume contest under Atlas all day, then... /e shrug. Timer's at an hour, so it's not a difficult assignment.
[ QUOTE ]
Why is there an Arachnos flyer in AP for a Nemesis invasion?
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately, the only way to get that Atlas Park map is to have it be the one that's fromt he LRSF, which means an arachnos flyer. Other Atlas Park maps would have been the total devastation maps from mission 3 of LRSF, or some of the 40+ GV content. While I did not look for it, the Atlas safeguard map would not have worked imo, as you're not there at city hall.
[ QUOTE ]
While there weren't any glaring problems with this arc it left a lot of questions unanswered.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll answer this broadly before getting to your specifics: since when did any Nemesis arc answer each and every last question you had?
[ QUOTE ]
Why did Nemesis suddenly take interest in Atlas Park?
[/ QUOTE ]
Why would he stop taking an interest in it? One would think that would be a major goal of his, to take control of the city; sure, it's a bit more direct than usual, but eh. He's taken over the country before, what's wrong with taking over the city?

As kong and I discussed ingame, and.. agreed to disagree on, "it is what it is". IMO, that statement means a short, semi-funny little mission that's not much of a challenge, so that anyone could do. It was not meant to be the next "Melvin and the mysterious Malta Group".
18816
About the enemy descriptions, yea, we thought about fixing that, but left it. So yes, glaring hole. It is also meant to be a simple little thing, with amusing clues. It's not meant to be the next "Wheel of Destruction" bit. -
[ QUOTE ]
I have no problem with defeat alls if they have a story reason, but they're still more tiresome than non-defeat-alls. Also, a defeat all in a Casino is a different animal than a defeat all in the RWZ portal room unique or (were it available -- is it?) the Atta map.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's available. It and the Drek map are the largest ones in the game, in terms of sheer-crap you can put in it. -
TW is currently leaning towards an earth/fire dom.
I will hopefully be there on time, otherwise i'll be a few min late. Even in finals week, all the kids want tutoring. -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh snap! DC is blaming me for his continual lapse in picking up on the obvious.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, but is it not picking up the obvious, or seeing it and not commenting on it?
I for one welcome more people rather than less people, including those that have connection problems. We all have them at times, it's a fact of life for an online game. -
[ QUOTE ]
That whooshing sound you heard just over your head? Don't worry too much about it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh good. Just more of your hot air then.I was worried for a second there.

[ QUOTE ]
On second thought, I'm just gonna be nice and let you know it's tonight. See ya there on Red side, red neck.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you want to run redside and cheat ahead of the group, go ahead. Not like that's anything out of the ordinary. Otherwise, tonight would, in theory, be the last blue night as we get everybody else up to 50, and force people to play our MA arcs to get the ratings. Or, folks run more malta. -

Currently going with a SS/Elec brute. stationed by kalinda.
-
Both TW and I are up for ISO 6. However, neither of us know what we're running. I'm tending to lean towards either a veat or a brute.
-
[ QUOTE ]
I suspect Will Power will perform decidedly better on a brute due to higher HP. I have this feeling DB/WP will be one of those few scenarios where I'll enjoy the combo better as a brute than a scrapper...maybe.
[/ QUOTE ]
It really doesn't, IMO. As masque said, maybe with tough and weave, it'd get better, but I'm not all that impressed as it stands. I've got a 41 EM/WP, and I end up yelling at the screen half the time "come on, regen faster!" just to keep up with the damage that he's taking. I don't reach my level of comfort* till after he's got thermal shields on.
*level of comfort is defined as, in my case "ok, that hurt, but i'm not in danger of dying"
Now granted, b/c he's only 41, there's no sets, so I'm sure once he gets fully suited up he could become a lot better. But as it is, I'm just not that overall impressed. I half wonder sometimes if I need to supliment with Aid Self since WP doesn't have the self heal for non-stalkers.
edited in: should also mention that I've only run this brute as a duo and now a solo on ruthless (that's the 4th one, Des), so +1 to +2. So, not even the level of folks one would normally see on an ISO's team, or the amount of baddies involved. -
I know I'm not a normal Pinnacle person, but hit 50 a day or two ago with my BS/Regen Scrap, Knight Warrior. 159 hours or so, all solo.

Creator Global/Forum Name: @Death Conqueror

Looking mainly for feedback on story, opinion on the custom baddies, and take on the Hellion AV. I've found he's a little annoying, but would like other people's opinions. -

In honor of Mr. Magnifico returning to Victory, let's bring back an oldie but goodie!

Seriously... why?
Said it before, and I'll say it again: this isn't Virtue, and this isn't Forum Games. Thankfully... -

Seriously.. why the hell can't Ex at least put This is Roleplaying somewhere in the information, or some such line. Utter nonsense...
[/ QUOTE ]
Easy, grandpa... I know this isn't the way you did things back in aught eight, but her heart seems to be in the right place.
[/ QUOTE ]
The trash bin? -
If you follow some of the links Ex has around, you end up over in Roleplaying.. so why in the frell this crap is over the entire boards, I don't know. Why the hell can't Ex keep this stuff on Virtue, or, even better, stay the hell out of it in the first place...
I'm tempted to say that Ex is going to pull a BLC on us:

ZOMG, the rikti just destroyed all the public works in Paragon City! You must protect the blankets and NPCs in Atlas!

*2 min later*

Congratz everyone, you successfully saved all the NPCs in Atlas! Now, watch out for villains coming to nuke them all! oh, the horror!

Lastly there's really not much new here. It just doesn't seem to be announcement worthy.
[/ QUOTE ]
QFT. The only things that are new in this article is the badge UI changes and the NPC placement. Until we get an example of such a change for the NPCs, who knows if it'll be good or not. As for the badge UI changes, probably could have been done in just a paragraph by Posi here on the boards:
[ QUOTE ]
Hey, folks, Positron here. Look, we know we've had some complaints about the badge user interface, so we've decided to do some changes. We hope you'll enjoy them. First, we're going to add more badge bars than ever before, such as badge bars to gladiator badges, or bars indicating how many more plaques you need to get a history badge. On top of that, instead of just a blue bar, we're going to give you actual real number percentages so you can tell EXACTLY how far you are on some of those badges.
[/ QUOTE ]
Something like that. This article just seemed to be a rehash of stuff that was already known. -
While the new arcs sound very interesting, I am somewhat slightly disappointed that, from the way the article words it, we're looking at 2 arcs a side for cim content. Now, first off, this is just content in cim, and doesn't include what we will get from the midnight club arcs (assuming, as I do, that midnight club arcs =/= cim arcs). Secondly, this is not a cry for co-op the arcs. I am thrilled that each side is getting seperate content; it would seem to answer the call that arose out of i10 when villains felt they were being treated like heroes (please save the day). However, this results in each side getting 2 arcs to cover 35-50, which is not, obviously, the amount of arcs we got out of rwz (7? 8? ish).
While I could see two arcs 'being enough' if they were the size of Wide Red World, from the way the article words it, posi's arcs seem to be the small ones like CoV mini-arcs (3-4 missions). This, unfortunately, makes me think that the arcs'll take an hour and a half, then... "... ITF?" Again, this is just my take on cim's stuff, we don't know how many arcs we could get out of the midnight club, so hopefully that will balance things out. -
I'm interested as well, just not sure on what conflicts I might end up with. So may end up like mental, there one week, not there the next.
I like the VoV bit, since we've done Tri. I'd also vote blue side. Can probably find a bit more interest on blue, as well as not nearly as much lag, and it's not CoT, arachnos, and more CoT in the missions. (I'd also vote, if we are blue, hit more of the original arcs. Besides the fact that striga's got the level-lock, you never fight a lot of those groups if you don't do the old arcs; family, warriors, etc) -

Gratz, Mal and Blitz!
[/ QUOTE ]
Rawr, awesome lets have some TF races, maybe Team Ryxegost VS a Team Satanic Hamster VS Team Putz. That would be awesomeness in a can.
[/ QUOTE ]
fastest quaterfield wins? Team Hamster would win by default; we're the only ones stu... uh... we prefer to level our characters through other means than ITFs and/or regular teaming at that level range...
gratz to Malchonn and Blitz on their new positions. -
Great front-page article.
-
Very nice, but a little more warning might have been nice.. Fredom's been in red already before this, so we know that'll probably lock, Virtue may lock..
-
Point of comment, 1st edition was in 2007, not 2008. Otherwise, we've opened our own little paradox.
