    AE Enhancements?

Its sad because its really such a great tool and one I think that really sets CoX apart from its competitors. And I agree, I was just xfire to record one of my arcs (figured if they don't get played here, at least I'll post to Youtube), and I had to keep restarting because of them getting stuck in objects. I know its better than it was initially but still.

And your idea about the base builder being able to construct maps is spot on!!! I honestly spend about 50-70% of my time in AE because of it being such a creative outlet (though its diminishing due to my doing more with the incarnate system). but gee, I really wish the devs would provide some focus on it.

PLEASE DEVS. READ THIS THREAD OR OTHERS OUT THERE ABOUT AE!!! IT CAN BE A TRUE DIFFERENTIATOR AGAINST YOUR COMPETITORS!!

Seriously though. There's many threads out there on AE and its much needed improvements. There's a flawed rating system which can easily be griefed, bugs, bugs, and more bugs! They won't even address the current issues much less add things we want.

Almost every mission that I've ever created ended up with me having to redo everything because of a bug.

Might as well not get your hopes up. The devs aren't interested in AE and/or its improvements. They all have their heads in the incarnate stuff. I'm sure within their boardroom meetings they consider AE a flop and not worth the time. Only explanation for their lack of communication. They won't even talk about it...

So much could be done- they just aren't going to do it. Personally wish they would merge the base builder into a way to create custom maps for your arcs. Plus all the things you've mentioned and things mentioned in the many threads before it.
  2. I've been working on an AE arc related to the Incarnate ability and the Praetorian conflict and so have used the Praetorian clockwork in my arc. I always knew that they could fire electric pulses out of that back-mounted harness, but also noted on the Bosses that they fire a particle beam from the chest.

Question: Is there any chance that these capabilities will make it to general user abilities?
    - Ability to use a particle beam (like a streamlined laser)
    - Ability to fire this beam (or perhaps the electrical one) from other than eyes/hands?

While CoX is leagues above our competitors, this would help close the gap with CO where they can mount an emanation point at different areas on the body and they also have for Power Armor power, a laser beam-type power.

    Thanks!

    AE Enhancements?

Not sure if there is a thread already, but was wondering what, if any enhancements are being planned for AE. Like I had hoped we would see the following:
    - Allies able to materialize in the same location (of course
taking into account the space available in the spot, etc)
    - Inter-Ally acknowledgement: Noticed in one of the GR
stories (I think it was an alignment mission) one of the
allies was talking to the other ("don't get ahead of
yourself, watch, out, etc") so didn't know if
there was any special logic added that could be used in AE.
Or perhaps it was just blindly assuming the first ally was
    already active/not dead yet
    - Ability to have non-combat NPCs (i.e. civilians)
    - Any additional actions beyond those already in Basic and
Advanced options (e.g. patrol, escort, etc)
  4. Arc Name: Tales of the Terran Space Marines - Eternity's Edge
    Arc ID: 360243
    Level Range: 41-54
Faction: Custom: Terran Space Marines, Elisyur
Difficulty Level: Medium, should be soloable by most builds with the use of optional allies. There are EBs in the third is a tough EB at the end, but but you will have allies to help if needed.

Synopsis: You interface with the AI of the local salvage assignment computer to take on what appears to be a routine task though with the addition of the marines, you start to wonder is there more going on than initially thought.

Estimated Time to Play: 30-45 minutes: 3 missions, 2 medium, 1 medium-large (search mission but items are highlighted)

    Please post feedback here!
  5. who came up with the list? can we nominate more?

So the higher tier is less affected by ED..that makes sense

They have mountains of hit points and gigantic endurance reserves, along with all the damage resistances and status effect protection of other AVs because of game mechanics that make them challenging for players to face.

The player incarnate system is a whole other ball of wax entirely. I expect any intersection with what the in-game versions of States/Recluse can do to be purely coincidental.
You are right, from what it appears to be so far, its almost like IO slots but spread across all powers...but will be interesting to see how it shapes up down the road

These boosts are not cumulative in that you do not get 66% damage boost and 33% Immobilize boost for having created both tiers since you can only slot one or the other.
Thank you, I think you are correct...had hoped they were but... :-)
  9. I originally slotted musculature at level 1 (33% damage increase) and then tier 2 yesterday (33% damage and 33% increase in immobilization duration). So stupid question but wanted to confirm that these are cumulative so that when I ran with my tier 1 it was just damage, but tier 2 now includes the SAME amount of damage plus immobilization duration; true?

I ask too because now when you move the mouse over the tier 1, it seems that it would need more components to be active again, so I assume thats if you wanted to go back to just that tier 1 boost. But going to tier 2, you've subsumed tier 1.

    Hope this makes sense.

Another question is; it appears that if I chose to next slot spiritual that I can swap out musculature and use spiritual with the appropriate cooling down period. Is there a plan to eventually allow these different abilities to coexist at the same time? That is, have the power of spiritual and musculature simultaneously? Otherwise seems like you have to keep swapping in and out which doesn't seem to match some of the major incarnates like States or Recluse who, for example, will have great endurance reduction and damage at the same time.
  10. Could you please review my arc:
Title: Tales of the Terran Space Marines - Eternity's Edge
    Story Arc ID: 360243
    Author’s Global Chat Handle: @DeathSentry
    Length: Very Long (3 missions)
    Level Range: 41-54
Mission Status: Final; would ask that you only put in a star rating if its deserving of 5, otherwise please don't put a star rating and I'll just look at your commentary for any improvements.
    Alignment: Heroic
  11. You can count me in, been looking for something like this. My arc is listed below. I would ask that either rate it as 5 stars (if deserving of course) or don't supply a rating at all and I'll just work from the comments provided to improve it.

    Story Arc ID: 360243
Arc Title: Tales of the Terran Space Marines - Eternity’s Edge
Factions: Soldiers of Rularuu, Terran Space Marines, Elisyur
    Author’s Global Chat Handle: @DeathSentry
    Morality: Heroic
    Length: Very Long (3 missions)
    Level Range: 41-54
    Description:
The year 2075, the pinnacle of Mankind's Golden Age, unbound by gravitational forces of its home world, this simian descendant has forged ahead to the stars with all of the blustery arrogance and manifest destiny it can muster. But. . . is He prepared for what he will find? Is all as it appears to be?
  12. Just saw something on Massively.com where a preview depicted a new hospital and new interiors for warehouses. The latter got a lot of flack as, and I agree, to add more sets for warehouses vs. something we've asked for like space stations, etc would be ludicrous unless budgets have been slashed so low that its all they can afford to do.

    Would be pretty disappointing.
  13. Thank you for creating this forum, I'm going to post mine on the site, FINALLY a place where those not in an SG, etc. I've tried to get my arcs reviewed for the longest time and some way to give me motivation to create more arcs for those extra slots I purchased. Thank YOu!!!!
  14. Also wondering if there will eventually be a way to edit/create our own maps? Or if not, gain access to a wider variety of maps.. once you've done some arcs, after awhile, depending on your story context, you start to run out of options. Or alternatively, there are certain maps that could really be used as a main scene for an arc from the game but its still not available (e.g. the Abyss map).

They should also allow the function added to GR/tip missions where you could take a boss down to a certain health level (e.g. 1/4) and then have them turn into an ally; would make for more interesting twists.

And finally, should be allowed to have non-combat NPC's or civilians that walk around without being allied with either side in a fight, maybe even (its a stretch) react during a fight and run/hide like they do in the regular game.

agreed, i wouldn't want to reset them all..just convert them based on their current star rating.

The search tool, or how to find the arcs you want to play.

problem: When you try to search for the kind of arc you want to play, there are too many arcs that you don't want to play at all that show up. And arcs with 5 or less 5-stars show up much higher than arcs with a couple hundred votes at 4-stars.

    solutions:

*Allow players to check a box to hide an arc from view - this helps repeated searches to avoid searching through the same bad arcs over and over to try and find the good ones.

*Adjust the display mode. More plays should be more important than a higher average. i.e. 500 4-stars is more significant than 2 5-stars.

The Front Page, or where most players find arcs to play.

The Problem: The front page hasn't changed in almost a year, but that is what most players see when they first load up the AE. Also, a front page arc gets a significant number of more plays than any other arc.

    Solutions:

Tabbing: Add tabs to the front page for the guest arcs, dev choice arcs, and hall of fame arcs so they're not automatically shown on the front page.

Alternate Sorting: Change the sort order on the front page to only show maybe 3 guest author arcs, 3 dev choice, 3 hall of fame, 3 5-star arcs, and 3 random arcs. Or anything else that allows the front page to be much less static.
I like the idea of the alternate sorting. For example, unless you belong to an SG that focuses on playing each other's arc's, its hard to get a lot of players to play your arc because its lost in a sea of arcs.
  17. I would suggest
Arc: 360243 "Tales of the Terran Space Marines - Eternity's Edge: The Avatar Saga
  18. Hear hear..bully I say, bully (imagine monacle and british accent). I agree, definitely would rather see it be something you earn vs. buy..all the more worthwhile and fitting for end-game hi-end players.

I don't want the Incarnate stuff sellable on the market, nor would it make sense for it to do so since it would be.... completely unattainable to many players. If purple recipes are selling for 300 million plus these days, what do you think those would go for....? But that is even to the side: people who want to be Incarnate can get their hands dirty AND EARN IT THE HARD WAY. Do you really, really think States and Recluse bought their way into the Well of Furies' abilities? What a ridiculous idea.

Nor did they earn it like we'll have to, but my point is that becoming Incarnate is NOT a financial transaction, NOR SHOULD IT BE. At least it better not be, that would be incredibly stupid from a lore standpoint.

    *gets off soap-box*

  20. I was wondering about that but everything seems to point to the fact that they are going to stay with the same engine, especially, at least to me, with the 9 layoffs that occurred. Guess I'm a little nervous about the layoffs, hoping its not a foreboding of something negative in the future, I just play this game too much to have it go away, well, ok, at least hang on for another 10 years :-)

Will review yours as well..thank you! (will be important to read the text of as its a story-based arc)
  24. I also stay away from Dark powers like life drain; had it on some of my toons and it was tough to beat them. Also any stun (e.g. beanbag, etc) so that the mission is safe for defenders/trollers/doms/corrs, etc to play (too bad they can't still have offense when stunned like blasters).

I also don't use too many holds for the same reason ... oh, Total Focus in the EM powerset or energy transfer (i think thats the name); was wiping out my allies. I do use footstomp but thats only because my allies are extreme bosses as well and can take it.
  25. Agreed, I tried Marchand's office alot and no matter what, it was very inconsistent. For the Zig, I noticed that if I have allies, I can get them to show up in the prison cells and for the most part, have been able to get my boss to show up in the yard though sometimes he does show up inside. My mission listed below, the apocalypse initiative, in the 2nd mish uses the zig.
