Ignore the post behind the curtain!
-
Well I understand rl can do that to you. Hopefully I can still make it, but might be in a make up chair by then
-
I am going to try to be at this one tho that starts 30 min after I get off work
-
*Slow clap that evolves into a roaring, thunderous applause*
That is one of the most creative things I have seen. I love the "ghost." -
Just wanted to do a quick response for Snow.
I myself noticed that my past posts were not exactly clear or could to some seem that I am saying the exact opposite of what I meant.
I am working on that. I am in no way a professional speaker.
I think the main reason Turbo wanted me to rep this group is one, because I have more time on forums than I do in game, and two, I care about the community of this game and I try to post and respond with the frequency most wish that devs would.
I will try to make my posts as clear as possible from this point on, especially now that I know the "boundaries" of my position. I really regret ever using the word "prioritize". Really should have been sort. -
grats to all the winners and thanks PERC. I pulled my story off of our forums. We had been using those forums since our newer ones the host site went belly up. Well the day after posting my story those forums' host went belly up too.
Glad i was able to save it before disaster struck.
oh and also my global is @Dead West -
Always good to reiterate one's point.
I think AE stuff and the like shouldnt be too much of a task. Then again dont know if its on the same system as base editing. -
So... wow!
That is some top notch work. The meeting room reminds alot of what we are trying to go for with the warroom (item number 6 on the UPP to do list) and that space fighter is absolutely brilliant. I am actually working on one myself (lil different shape) that is going to house our raid teleporter.
But yaeh definitely excellent work man. Cant wait to see it in person! -
Suspense... is... killing... me...
lol so did you guys have alot emailed to you? -
I have posted for the Committee alot but now I want to let you know what I would like to see from this.
My hope for the Committee is to maintain the creative structures people have already built. I know how many man hours it takes to make one room let alone an entire base, and I dont want all that time to be for not. So the role I would like to take is the posterity of the current design structure.
Also I want it known that the way I see the Committee working is more like a translator than a Senator. We aren't trying to put in the things we want. In fact alot of us were coming in with a clean slate so that we werent bias toward one thing and that we could just get the community's ideas out there.
But really what I am seeing right now is the clubhouse being built, no one has been crowned King of the Clubhouse, nor has there been a "No <Insert Group Here> Allowed" sign posted. We are just trying to do the setup work right now of how the Committee would be structured, not who the structure is.
I am sorry if I have confused/scared/angered/set of a high level of paranoia in anyone with my posts. Had alot of stuff going on but I have been trying to keep up with all of the posts too so that speculation did not turn to conspiracy theories. As of this point I feel i have said all the info that we have to share (and thats not saying there is info not for sharing.)
But do to the monotone nature of the internet, tone and inflection can not be judged, and I am a much better speaker in "person" than in text. So what I would like to do is jump on my SGs vent server and welcome anyone who would like to ask questions or get clarification on anything. Not looking for a screaming match and its not likely I could even be baited into one. Just want to be able to explain things better to those I havent done such a good job with.
So if you would like to talk PM me and I will send the vent info along with the time I will be on there. -
Man this looks fun!
I wonder if I can get a gun show routine down with Dead -
Our intention was not to make anyone mad. This is not the first time someone has tried to carry this torch only for it to be dropped, then picked up again and rinse and repeat.
Turbo has gone further than anyone. If we dont support him then, if we remain on opposing sides fighting for the same cause, then yes nothing will get done.
Do we want to continue to be ignored or will we give this idea a chance? -
I am going to be politely blunt.
The comments have gone from support and mild caution to paranoid delusions that we are jihad minded base terrorists.
The reason there wasnt a vote? Part to do with we wanted to make sure we could do this before throwing a vote up. It was a shot in the dark and it hit. But mostly because of this. Everyone will either feel that someone they know or they themselves are best for the job. And everyone cant be the best. And when its not exactly what someone wants when they want it it must be bogus.
The only prioritizing we were going to do is filter the possible from the impossible, so we dont waste the time and attention we are now getting on pipe dreams. There is no hidden agenda or personal grudges going on and to think that way is unfortunately paranoid.
Turbo has done what no one else wanted to do and thats the leg work. He asked me to help and i was more than happy to. So i will continue helping as long as he wants me to. We are satill playing the waiting game so there is no need for people arguing and fighting.
not holding a vote was going to draw negative comments, i understood that. but to think we will sabotage what this community wants is absurd.
Because the majority of us want the same thing. -
our alt sg Exploratory is just that Devil. Since i am at work i will try to get mystic to post some screenies. We have the first wave of toons to 50 and all have started the 2nd wave
-
Sorry just got a chance to post.
Ok as far as your post Imp, that is basically what we are working on as of right now. Sorry I havent replied yet, but there were alot of posts and I was trying to address everyone in one post. I work through the weekends.
But anyway, here's what we are working on as far as the committee itself when referring to membership. It will not just be the 3 of us making all decisions, nor will it just be the 3 of us in the committee itself. We havent exactly figured out all the specifics (like i said before the rumors hit fast) but we do know we want it to be a small number of people. We are trying to funnel the best ideas to the devs, we don't want to create the same problem within the committee.
Turbo has been point on all of this, he has started the dialog with the devs, he has written the charter, pretty much the guy with the plan. The reason I and Sidhe were picked wasnt for popularity (because many of you are much more vocal in the base forum than I am) or because we know the right people. But we all care about this game and the people who play it. Thats what makes CoH different than other games, we play for experience not XP and we love a noob (that is open to suggestion of course.) We care that many of you are angry to the point of quitting the game in some instances.
But we are trying to do this professionally and concise. If you have too much emotion involved it can turn into the British Parliament real fast.
We are not trying to leave anyone out, and like I said there will be more people involved directly and indirectly very soon. We are just trying to get the red tape out of the way first. And my first task was to keep you folks informed. Sorry if I am not doing that quickly enough or clear enough, thats why if there are questions continue to post them here and I will try to get to them all.
I know its hard to trust someone when they say their intentions are for the good of the people, but they truly are. Words dont mean alot these days though so just keep an eye out in the coming weeks and I promise it wont be so hard to believe then. -
That is personally what i would like changed about the editor. No more sconces needed to get an angle, man that would be nice. The programming part of that however is a logistical nightmare. To my knowledge, safes and gray desks are the only objects that can be seen from all angles. Everything else has at least one invisible side. So to bring that system into the editor they would need to re-render alot of those pieces.
Honestly new skins and objects (with wxyz system in mind) would be a logical way to go. But we will have our first meeting soon and i will make sure that is a main topic. -
I should have some time tonight (hopefully) to come survey that room. Its just been crazy in RL.
I am curious tho if people have back stories for their bases. Ours is located on Saturn's Largest moon, Titan. We mine a green ore, which the name escapes me at this point (insert Mystic wisdom here), that powers the massive generator necessary to teleport us to Earth and other dimensions.
Our janitors name is Fluffy. -
Would [Burn] be one of those no no powers?

The Beginning of the End
The desert plain was cold and unforgiving. As Samuel West looked out upon the horizon his thoughts drifted to his family. The family he had loved so dearly. His wife, Martha, would always worry about him on those long cattle drives he used to frequent and his daughter, Roeyn, would always be so excited when he would return. Not the last time though. The only thing they expressed was horror, which was written on their cold lifeless faces. They were tortured, defiled, and murdered by a viscous demon named Kro.
Ever since then, West had worked for The Order of the Shadow Eagle, trying to put an end to all the unearthly suffering in the world. He had driven many creatures back to the dark pits from which they sprung, but had not found the one responsible for the death of his soul. That is until now. The Order had given West the location, the gear, and all the holy ammunition he could carry.
“Its all going to change tonight. Its all coming to an end, one way or another,” West thought to himself.
A small whirlwind kicks up sand as West spurred his steed to a blinding speed. He road toward a small orange light near the cliff face his was told of. Thoughts of revenge, honor, and hate raced through his mind. He would have teared up if he had a tear left to shed. All that drove him now was justice.
As he got closer he noticed the fire went out. He rode harder, determined to meet his quarry. As he got closer, West dismounted and walked the remaining 50 feet as silent as a shadow. He inspected the fire to find that it had been out for quite some time. Longer than he had been on the plains.
“WHERE ARE YOU, YOU DEMON SPAWN?!?!” West’s rage was burning with the thought that once again he had missed the opportunity to avenge his family. Just then he heard that cracked, high pitched, squeal of a laugh.
“No need to get upset there partner,” the voice seemed to come from all directions. West quickly drew his gun, just to find that it was too hot to hold. West dropped his ivory handled peace keeper and looked at his hand. The design of a blindfolded warrior angel was imprinted on his palm. Just then a shadow moved from the shadows. “I just wanted to give you that feeling of utter disappointment,” Kro said as he stepped into the moonlight. West tried to rush him, get him on the ground, but he could not move. “What have you done?!”
If he had not been so hasty to find Kro, West would have noticed the enchantment circle drawn out on the ground around the fire pit. He had fallen into a trap. “You haven’t been able to truly track me down for 10 years, and you honestly thought someone would just give me to you so easily? You are about as dim-witted as that jezebel of a wife.” West’s rage was blinding, so all he could do was hear the cackling that came from the bowels of his foe.
Just then the fire pit exploded an eery green fire, and Kro began to chant. West tried all he could to get away. He could only imagine what Kro was going to do to him. Kro grasped the sides of West’s head and leaned in real close. “Now its time to finish what I started all those years ago.” With that, West and Kro were engulfed by the ghostly, green flames, sending them to Kro’s home. Sending them straight to Hell. -
We are in constant communication with mods and devs at this point. They are ensuring that this is more of an organized committee rather than a loose group of players. Basically meaning they too want this to be official. The contests are honestly something we want to do so that we can immediately start giving back to the community, even if its not actual base items and fixes, we can at least give something. However, the contests are not the main "pitch."
In the past the devs were trying to listen to everyones thought and opinions on bases. And when a crowd is shouting different things you cant understand most of them. We have already compiled lists of concerns, ones mentioned here and ones from the great lists that are already on the forums. We are going to prioritize these wishes and complaints, find out from the devs what is a quick fix all the way to nigh impossible. I am sure that down the road these things will start being added, but until then we will at least have constant, direct communication that is not so easy to "ignore."
No one has to have hope or even trust that we will do things at all, but those of you who do will not be disappointed. -
Quote:I like this idea too. You could use the existing editor, just on a smaller scale at a discount (because bases are set up for SGs the focus should still be SG bases.) But an individual should have an opportunity to use this system. Maybe instead of prestige you could have the option to use influence with a small scale plot. MaybeDing Ding Ding! we have a winner...
As it stands now, you have to get a bunch of people together to form a SG before you can even think about building a base, and if you are a part of an established base, there is very little incentive to form your own SG to actually build your own base.
seriously, I have all sorts of ideas, but I wont be seeing most of them come to frutiton becasue of the lack of prestige needed.
by opening it up to everyone, it will add value to the entire game.
But definitely something worth exploring, I know its been on peeoples minds even before bases were added. -
From my recent interactions with players and developers this is what I see.
We have alot of the devs concerned that one of their most dedicated player bases (if you think playing with the same toy for 4 years with nothing new to add to it and not throwing it down and finding a new toy isnt dedication then nothing is) becoming more and more upset. Base editing, especially stacking, takes hours upon hours to get done. And not all in the same day. Just from a business stand point of a game that makes money off of your time, its important to keep that community happy.
Has that happened. No. Has everything that has been said been done. No. Have people that were in charge of the department dedicated to our bases been let go. Yes.
I see the same things you do but I guess in a different light. Do you have the right to feel the way you do? Absolutely.
And I am not saying that Turbo, Sidhe and I have messiah like patience. We just havent lost our patience with base editing. Thats why we are forming the committee. We cant program everything for the devs and add it. There will be no immediate gratification with items or the editor. That will come from the contests
Personally I lost my patience with PvP, thats what drew me to the base in the first place. We all have things in this game that we are disappointed with. If we didnt then the game would be perfect and threads like this would not exist. Also in that perfect world I would have 1 billion dollars and live on the moon.
But I truly think that the lack of change with bases is coming from a fear to mess up what the players have discovered. If they were to change one thing and mess up stacking, and not be able to fix or replace it with a better way of doing things, then there would be much more anger than there is now. We want to be very careful with this process and thats why we feel that player representation is necessary beyond these boards. And that is where we come in.
You are all going to see this get more official very soon. And when the ball starts rolling, we wont stop. If one of us needs to stop, then another player will take its place. This is going to be a well oiled machine and it will get results. All we ask is that you have patience with us while we are getting up and running.
And on a different note, MrHassenpheffer, I will talk to the others and see if we cant get something going for that. Little short notice, and we only just finished putting up the dry wall in the Base Committee office (figuratively of course) but if we can do it we will. I would love to come check it out sometime soon, just gotta get through to my daughters bday and then things will calm down in RL. I just dont want to throw something together, half planned and it not be what it truly should be.
Once again thanks for everyones patience and support, and I will have updates soon. -
This run way alot of fun. if i can figure out some fun way to incorporate the raid teleporter i think we will try to host one of these. It wouldnt be this sunday (daughters bday party that day) but maybe the next one.
good work guys and sorry again for confusing teams 1-3 lol -
That is correct lol
But at least we are not skipping the hope step and going straight to giving up. -
Which means I have to bring my Kin, Mystic will probably have to bring Mystic Fortune... and hopefully Edge can get his computer fixed before tonight
