  1. I think the judeo-christian 'archangels' are already represented - kheldians. You can certainly draw parallels, at least - A race of energy beings [conveniently split by dark/light.] that have been fighting a war amongst themselves for aeons, yet among physical races is the battle truly fought...?
Yeah. Zeus and other mythology can be the incarnates - we've already got angels in the game, both fallen and otherwise.
  2. CoV comes with so much more out of the box than CoH, I really hope they don't raise the subscription fee for both, because CoH will be byebye, at least for a while.

    FYI

Jack (i.e. me) has a BA in Classical Civilization, a MA in Ancient History and a MA in Greek & Latin. My specialty: ancient religion. I know ancient Greek, Latin, Italian, French, German, some Aramaic, Coptic, etc.

Basically, I'm EXTREMELY picky with mythology. Trust me on that.

    I'm scared now

    [/ QUOTE ]

Don't be. He obviously took a bunch of easy classes.
  4. So if greek heroes had Superpowers, then what was Achilles? What was Odysseus? What was Hector? What was Theseus?

    Heh.

    Superhero quiz

    17/21.

At least I got Green Lantern right.
  6. All PvP has done is further seperated an already divided community. Issue 4 was mostly a waste of time.

Rather than giving the masses more goodies, the devs spent time on an Arena. So rather than improving the game, they wasted about five months on a building that sits empty.

And we lost a Task Force.

    *thumbs down*
  7. Heh. If they raise the subscription fee for playing both CoH and CoV, I'm dropping CoH for CoV - CoV just looks SO much cooler.

    WARWOLF!
  8. That's one scary looking Aquaman.

And you guys can HAVE the scorpion armor... I want Lord Recluse's armor.

... Looks metallic I got the impression from the mission text that the fish-like creatures was more organic.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Metallic? Not really, looks like a freakin bipedal shark, and definitely something that'd make my 15$ a month happy.

That said, I'm sick of being second string to Statesman and Lord Recluse *AND* them getting all the badass costume options, too. GIVE US INCARNATES OR GIVE US DEATH!
  10. The missions in Guild Wars are CoH's task forces...

with a central storyline, and unique maps. CoH could learn a few things from it - Guild Wars missions are really a lot of fun.

Not that they CoH will learn anything, anyway...
  11. I didn't have many problems with the dev's until I saw them test scrappers based off of them using half a tray of inspirations per fight. and then deciding that some, like invulnerabilty, were too strong. Yeah, they WOULD be. If my SR scrapper had damage resistance inspirations and used a load per fight, he'd be a god too.

    *rolls eyes*
  12. I think you guys have to realize that the dev's aren't nerfing because of PvP. They are nerfing because they're balancing this game around a different standard. They don't see the game the way you or I do.

It's not PvP's fault. Not by a long shot.
  13. How many slots does it take to perma Rage without having Hasten?

... Except for Hasten, my build looks exactly like this. Instead of Hasten, I took Recall Friend, mostly due to utility and team usage, and I'm not really interested in being careful of end crashes due to Hasten.
  14. I hate you, Mattman. BRING BACK STUPIDHEAD!

  15. [ QUOTE ]
The problem with doing that is that if you keep making everything *better*, eventually stuff becomes too easy. Being able to Fly and shoot with perfect accuracy would almost be too easy,

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, Kheldians do that... and it's really not *THAT* bad. Moreso that Fly has a nasty endurance drain, which really makes it hard to fight with...

Ah, hell, whatever. You know what this is? This is THE END OF CoH! I COMMAND YOU ALL TO CANCEL YOUR ACCOUNTS USING A SECRET UNDERHANDED MIND-MELD! AND THEN YOU WILL ALL EMAIL ME INFLUENCE. NO I DO NOT KNOW HOW THAT WOULD WORK BUT I WILL LEAVE IT UP TO YOU TO FIGURE IT OUT!

    Heh.

If the changing of a single power that your character has makes him "unplayable" then he/she was a flawed build to begin with.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You know that's not true... what if they actually made Integration and Instant Healing mutually exclusive like they initially were going to?

    Ever-helpful Vault.
    Entertaining Warcry

I'll never play it but it might be entertaining.
And on a side-note, my faith in the CoH dev's has just been buried. Hopefully they will impress me soon, but with a track record like theirs, (And I've been around long enough to know it.) I'm not holding my breath.
  18. A nasty round of nerfs. I understand MoG and Elude. Sure, they nerfed them so that they are MUCH crappier and you can't even IMAGINE using them perma because their timers are so large, but it was gonna happen.

SS/SJ nerfs, though? Why not just remove the -acc penalty from fly, which we've been asking for since, oh i don't know, the game came out? Did I mention that I don't have a single superspeed character and I STILL think they shouldn't have been nerfed?

I thought PvP wasn't going to affect the PvE game, guys. Or you'd try to keep it to a minimum rather than blatantly throwing [censored] at us, like this...

And the dev stance on free respec for Issue 4 doesn't help either.

No fanfare, and I don't want anyone to flip out on me, but I can freely say, (since I doubt it will happen.) That if the changes roll out as-is, I'm cancelling my billing.

It seems that the dev's are taking this game in a very different direction than it is now, and that direction looks genuinely un-fun. I'll wait and see, but my hopes aren't high.

Oh, and non-perma light-form just kinda trashes All-human Peacebringers. Kinda nasty. And it seems that the SS/SJ nerfs were done to prevent JOUSTING. Should be PvP only, but it rolled over... to PvE as well... thanks dev's... bunch of liars.
  19. The day I can only take on 3 mobs at once when i'm level 35 is the day I quit this game.

Just saying. - I love the game, but this vision says bye-bye to epic battles and hello to EQ2/WoW.

If I want to be limited to fighting the in the same scope for the entirety of my run to the cap, I'll play one of those games and at least be able to craft.

Your calling BS on a quistion put to him, not something he said???

    [/ QUOTE ]

You are mistaken, but clarification is in order- I'm calling BS on his answer that he wouldn't do it because CoH is the book for him.

    Nice try, though.
  21. Let's see;

Nakayama tells us that Mark has a character on the virtue server, so the 'mystery V' server is revealed. (in your FACE, victory!)

The only time I call BS on him is where he talks about DC/Marvel begging him to work their flagship titles.

That said, the man can draw.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Nice comic, all around; it seems to be technically better than the old one, though I gradually came to like the general "silliness" of the plot. Here's hoping it'll turn out well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Remember that this is just the first issue. Remember how utterly craptastic the writing was when our current comic started out? This one, too, is just starting out - and already looks like Kingdom Come in comparison.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Who's to say what you would do in that situation? This is when true heroes arise from the masses.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly - To see which ones keep fighting even after their powers go out... though i doubt that will last the issue.
  24. If I want a slavish interpretation of the game, I'll just play the damn thing.

    [ QUOTE ]
Why is it a more attractive comic just because main characters can die?

    [/ QUOTE ]

A painfully obvious question. Drama. There's no drama if there's no risk, but put the risk at it's height and it makes the heroes who continue to fight a LOT more than just some guys with powers.

    [ QUOTE ]
but the Outcasts powers still work just fine?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Guns seemed to still work, yeah.

And it seemed Naturals (and maybe Mutants) were the only ones who kept their powers while Science, Magic and Tech had to deal with rapidly dwindling powers. Hence Manticore being the 'big hero' because he's just an Archer.

Great read, superbly written. Remember the craptacular writing of The original comic when it fist came out?
