On your third one, is that a kilt i see peeking out from under the toga?
I must try that if it is, looks good.
Nice costumes,
_D -
Those colors are fantastic.
Hoooooow do yoooou iiinnnnnk liiiike thaaaaaat x_x

I would say make his upper body wider (namely, the shoulders), and moving it down a bit. His waist looks too thin and it doesn't seem like it rotates enough to meet up with the crotch. I would also suggest tilting his left arm (his left) further back.
What i think is going on is the top and bottom halves don't come together well. Seperately, they're very good, but i think you have too much space between the bottom ab and the crotch, and the center of the abdomen doesn't line up with the center of the crotch.
Forgive me if that was too harsh or seemed disjointed and rushed together. The bell to my next class just rang >_>.
Looking good,
_D -
Hah, thanks Rox. How's my coloring? I tried to stay inside the lines.
_D -
Or, well, really, a complete relocation.
I finally got myself in gear and registered with DeviantArt.com. Time to sit at the cool kids' table. Right now i've only got 4 pictures or so, but i'll be moving stuff over from photobucket and other places i have stuff... i think.
I really just wanted to get some comments on the "Great '08" piece, though, to be honest.
Thanks,
_D -
Jeez, i'dve at least had him throw in a nice IO or two.
Good stuff,
_D -
While i'm afraid i haven't a clue as to what you're talking about, i've posted this just because i know it's encouraging to know that people are reading.
Hopefully someone will stumble upon this here thread and offer you more help than i could.
_D
P.S.: Oh, and i was prompted to respond to this even though i can't help because i think the idea of a gallery featuring a rotating image of your character would be damn cool and i'd like to see what some other people have to say about it. So i thought a little bump would help. -
I'm afraid i don't read any of the fan fiction. So, while i recognize the name, i didn't know who was behind it.
I know who she is now though. Couldn't put a face (well, avatar) to the name when i posted that earlier. Ah well, don't mind me.
Move along... Move along...

Oh, here's a prize!:
The winner - Or winners... I'm not quite sure - of the contest will get their costume design drawn by Lady Judgment.
But anyway, here's how the decision of the winner will go down.
On Saturday, a poll will be set up with all the pictures of the different characters under it. Already, my three personal favorites will each get an extra three, two, and one vote from me. These polls will close at 9:00 EST on Saturday, where I will examine the results, and then post them next day.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you have any examples of Lady Judgment's work?
Thanks,
_D -
Very cool. Diggin' those skulls.
Look out, Shuler

Rofl, great stuff. I love MTG and i love CoH, to see them come together like this is particularly cool.
I haven't read through all the pages of this thread yet (still not done looking at the cards), so it may have been asked before, but does your presentation of these cards imply that you will be taking requests? If so, i'd like to get in line.
I was also wondering, since you seem to be well-versed in card modification, if you know the type of paper stock they print cards on, and where it would be available for purchase? I've come close with some of my dad's various photo-paper and other printing supplies, but nothing has hit the mark yet, so-to-speak. I would love to print out some of these and put them in my deck for when i play with my friends.
Very cool,
_D
P.S.: I saw the Positron card and i'm still lol'ing at the task force ability. I saw, though that he was a 4/2. I was thinking he should instead be maybe a 2/10 or something, and that when you destroy him he has a sort of "Wrath of God" effect or something (hence making him a 2/10).
But anyway these cards are awesome. Very nice job! -
Thanks
Any constructive criticism would be somewhat appreciated, as always.

They are not nearly as impressive as the rocket boots, but the piston boots look cool, even if they don't animate
This is Powerswitch.
[/ QUOTE ]
They animate with superjump. I think there's a jet of steam that comes out or something
[/ QUOTE ]
The piston boots will animate with any jump, flight, or fall but they do not emit a jet stream, unfortunately. Instead, they produce a large dust-cloud around your character's feet (which may or may not cause a slight decrease in your FPS) when he/she lands on solid ground.
An interesting feature of these boots is that the dust-cloud will take on the hue of the boots' primary color. This may make the effect more or less noticeable, depending on the color you use. Pink boots will emit a relatively vibrant pink-ish cloud (that albeit looks pretty odd), whereas a pair of black boots will emit a darker, harder-to-see (although understandably more realistic) shade of dust.
I find piston boots to be well-suited to heavy duty, more physically substantial characters with Jump and Flight travel powers, seeing as they should make some kind of heavy impact when they land on solid terrain. I rather enjoy them on my Tank, Everblaze. Can't wait to get them on my Stoner Brute, who's got a Huge body type.
_D
P.S.: It may be of consequence to note that it seems when your character is jumping repetetively (holding down your jump key, going straight from one jump into another), the dust-cloud will not be produced. It appears that it will only work when you jump and let go of your jump key sometime before you land. -
Allrighty, a little bit ago i mentioned this thing i was doing; a 5-person long queue i created for artwork and stuff. Well, recently i received PM from someone in my queue that showed a slight bit of concern as to if i was still doing this. Understandable as i have not posted anything publicly since i created this list, and other than the notification to one of one's inclusion in my queue, the only person i have spoken with is the first person in line to discuss their character and request.
So, just letting you all know that all is not lost. I'm still here. I'm just taking my time on these. Don't want to rush through everything and lose my steam, so to speak.
Well currently i'm working on Paragon Wonder, for Striking_Speedy. It's almost done and i just need to clean up the pencils and add a background. You can follow the peice's progress here. "Car & Thug Revised," is the stage it is currently in.
Thanks for your patience,

I must admit, that has to be one of the best "Power-suit/robot" costumes i've ever seen. I love the dark blue. Plus, the fact that it makes the W-Shield actually look good makes it just that much more impressive, if you ask me.
Can't wait to get those boots myself. The only costume recipe i've managed to get so far is the Piston Boots.
Nice Work,

He's in his early twenties and he's a bit of an amateur hero. He only recently discovered his late-blooming powers and- since he's lived like any normal kid would for most of his life- doesn't really fit the persona of your average, boyscout hero. He's pretty lazy and extremely sarcastic (or tries to be) and doesn't like to take alot of things seriously, but he also has a very good sense of when and when not to joke around. However, due to the nature of his powers he sometimes tends to blur the line between serious and practical joke once he has a crisis "under control," sometimes manipulating villains he's defeated to do things they otherwise wouldn't do... Like getting a Damned of the Hellions to run around Perez Park with his pants at his ankles decrying his love for pie...
Always liked his costume.
Thanks,
_D
P.S.: Artistic renditions and the like can be found in my signature, on Extraplanar's Crey Ind. profile under Surveillance Reports. Ignore the picture at the top of the page, the one without the "lampshade." That's an old costume and i'll be changing it soon. -
...
well i guess i have been known to be pretty cold.
I don't really know how to respond... I mean i'm sorry you're offended but you don't need to degrade me and insult me like that... I was just trying to get this thing done and i was at a lack of time and vocabulary. I didn't mean to offend anyone... I worked hard on this and actually thought i might have a chance... but i suppose it's utter crap now.
Sorry...
_D
P.S. Your comic was pretty good by the way. I like the conversation he has with Chalmers... good work i guess... -
Thank you for the comment and rating. I honsetly wasn't sure if he was offended or thought it was just a really stupid name.
Not a Hero is very well put together, by the way... as are alot of the entries i've seen, now that i've browsed a bit. Wish mine was as up-to-snuff as some of the ones i've seen but i suppose it's my fault for putting off the contest for so long. I had a much grander idea in my head as may have been indicated by contrasting the narration and photography of the beginning pages with the ones closer to the end. Not all that much unlike some of the other authors have said, i was extremely psyched for the first week or so and rather quickly lost interest until the due date rolled around. To me, the first few pages are much better quality than the last.
Anyway, oh well i guess. C'est la vie.
Thanks again,
_D -
Wellp, here's my submission. Hope i did everything properly. I was kind of rushed to finish near the end. Not quite sure i understand the comment Farmer Frost left for me
.
Well, i hope you all like it more than he did.
_D -
lol, i couldn't find any pics that weren't 'lite' and time was running down. I just had to get it in before someone else did, so i rolled with that X)
_D
EDIT: Er, since i've garbaged this thread up i suppose i'll give you guys a screenie of Dr. Disease- my rad/rad corr- when i get home. -
Allright, that's 5.
Juggertha, i'll have to make an exception in your case on account of your initial sketch being one of the few pieces i started and still have (or, at least, that i know where it is). So this queue might be a little over the limit (6) or you might see it in the next 5 batch.
And Lady Judgement, yeah i'm better at drawing guys. It's just that i've been drawing ever since i knew how to use crayons and, as a little boy- you know how little boys are- girls were still icky so i always tried to draw the 'cool guys' like wolverine and the flash cause i always wanted to be them. I draw women, too, it's jsut that i got a head start on males and it's simply my preferance cause i know my way around better. So don't get discouraged or anything.
Hell, women are just tougher to draw well anyway. Even for alot of proffesionals.
_D
P.S.: Oh and i don't know how well the gallery(ies) show it, if they show it at all, but my technique has improved, i think. Since my last posts i've taken an 8 week art class in comic art and composition with Rich Hedden (kind of obscure i guess, google him), so he was able to give me alot of great pointers and tips. I've also picked up a copy of "How to Draw Comics The Marvel Way" (i think that's the title, don't have the book in front of me) so you may or may not see some stuff that looks similar to the examples in there. Rich said he swears by the book and it's one of the best things for an aspiring artist to have so i'm relying quite a bit on it. -
Okay in the past i've offerred to do this and each time i've gotten more and more confident in my ability to finish what i started. However, i kept buggering off and buggering off until i thought it seemed like everyone forgot about what i had been doing. I'd say, "Sure i'll draw your toon for free just give me a little time," and my inbox would fill right up with requests and such and i'd get all happy and psyched and i'd get around to maybe the first 3 and get distracted with something else and never come back to it.
Well, this time i mean business. I'm gonna make myself finish. I have a guilty conscience (spelling?) and i want to make it up to anyone i've disappointed. I want to "clear my name," so to speak.
So, here we go. There will be rules and stuff this i set for myself this time around so i know what i'm doing; so i can keep up with everyone. Okay anyway this is the plan:
-All requests must be sent to me via a private message. I always check my inbox for new messages but i don't always revisit old threads. This is just the safest way to get your request to me.
-My 'list' will only be 5 requests long at any given time. I will go from one person at a time, starting (obviously :P) at the top and working my down to number 5.
-I will not be accepting any requests after the initial 5. Please do not fill up my inbox with too many requests as it will cause me to get distracted and disorganized.
-I will make a new thread each time i am ready for a new list. This is when you want to send me a request. If i receive more than 5 before i am able to say that i already have 5, i will post this in the thread as well as send each person after the fifth a private message telling them they missed the queue and to try again next time.
-I will be doing only one picture per person every 5 lists. If you ask for more than one picture you'll receive a private message letting you know that you have been removed from the queue and asking you to please not send multiple requests. This will only be done once. If you send multiple requests after this first "warning" i will simply delete the message from my inbox without any notification.
-These will be pencil drawings. Not sketches. Neat pencil drawings. I will not be converting them to inked line drawings due to time problems that would create, but rest assured that they will be neat enough to be converted to line drawings by a third party if it is desired. This is free, after all.
-Each drawing will be released as each drawing is finished.
Wow, after writing all that i sound like an [Censored]. Well for what it's worth, i'm really not heheh. I pretty much posted all those rules more to remind me of what i said i would do, but they should still be read.
Oh, i suppose a couple links to a gallery or two would be helpful:
-This One Is Still A Little Wonky cause my dad made this site. He's still working on the page construction and so the navigation can get a little funky, but the pictures are all there.
-(to be added) -
Yes, but i don't know how to resize the images, and they don't fit on the screen at once.
