I promised Green Regis I would draw the winner of his weekly costume contest, my apologies for the wait... here's the linework of the winner, The Crimson Inspiration, drawn just now - color to follow as soon as possible... which means I'm working on it now...

Illustrator CS2, I use the brush tool set NOT to keep selected, and I decrease the nodes in each line to 2 or 3 with the smooth tool. Sorry if that sounds like greek, it's basically drawn and inked in a vector program, and then colored in layers in Photoshop.

But yeah it gets rid of the "shakes"...

It does look great, LJ. I commented on DA, but I'll just mention here how I rue the shakes.

Yeah me too, and I've had Illustrator for frickin 2 years, then one day my wife (who uses the program for her own stock art and taught me how to use it) says, "honey just unclick that box if you want the line to be unselected"...

Doing that basically allows you to draw in the same way you can in Photoshop, but with Illustrator each line is editable. So you can move it bend it twist it... It's like drawing with the pen tool in Photoshop, without having to make all the selections in between and then deciding on your line weight.

Illustrator allows the line to be modified so much that you can lay it down, then fix it instantly, it cures the shakes big time! I'll have to do some screen grabs to show what I mean...

But I love drawing this way now, the funny thing is people tell me I've improved so much, but it's not really my drawing that has changed, just the shakes, and well yes I have learned to color more efficiently...

See why I LOVE my wife!
