  1. Hey, AE experts...

When you play through the City maps, City Map 1 looks like Kings Row with a graveyard, City Map 2 easily doubles for Steel Canyon... but where is City Map 3 supposed to be? I've tried to find a map that you could say, "Oh, it's an instanced map of [zone]," but I have no idea which it might be.

Does anyone know? Not many zones have a parking lot (off the top of my head, I know that Peregrine Island does), but do any others?

I really, really miss old arcades. I think if someone did it right, and made a 20-40ish cabinet arcade with a clever hook/gimmick, with a mix of old classic cabinets, and the new multi-(classic)game cabinets, it could do reasonably well. Target it towards the 25-40ish crowd, with alcohol served.
FOr the life of me, I can't remember the name of the place, but there was an arcade in Tucson not far from the U of Arizona that you paid a $2.50 'cover charge' to get in (and got all nickels for it), and could just play and play and play. On Friday and Saturday nights it was a ZOO.

  8. Finally saw it with hubby on Sunday. Went in expecting a popcorn movie, and got it. (Saw it in 2d coz despite loving the feeling of speed, my lunch would have been on the floor otherwise.) Enjoyed the special effects, LOOOOOOVED Daft Punk's score, had fun looking for a) all the computer references, and b) all the original movie in-jokes. John and I have a theory regarding the fate of a certain character, but we'll find out in the third film (if they make one) if we're right.

(And me being the fangirl I am, while I'm all for seeing Jeff Bridges de-aged, I was REALLY hoping to see them pull the same stunt with Bruce Boxleitner. *sigh*)

BTW, am I the only one who actually MISSES arcades like that? I swear, I wanna create my own version of Flynn's, with all the 80s nostalgia I can cram in one place.

Last year, they raised over $10,000 for Donate Games, Child's Play, and Operation Gratitude. This year, they've added Heifer International to the charities, and they're pretty durn close to $10,000 again. Hopefully this final week of the drive will push it over.

The devs pitched in too, with donations of items that were auctioned off a week ago, including some really cool collector's items such as autographed promo photos, a pewter City of Villains flask, statues, copies of Going Rogue autographed by the dev team, etc. Other companies pitched in too, such as ThinkGeek, TFAW,com, Mercedes Lackey, and several players and CoH fan Internet stations.

I highly encourage anyone that is in the giving spirit to drop by the Real World Hero site (realworldhero.com) and chip in. Even if only a buck or two, seriously, it makes a huge difference when everyone does it. I'm really hoping it tips the $10,000 mark again this year!
Incidentally, a quick look at RWH shows that they are about $700 short of breaking last year's mark! Everything above that just sets next year's bar higher, so please donate!

  20. Heya, I appreciate the review. This is definitely one of my older arcs (look at the arc number), so it could easily benefit from an overhaul thanks to AE's updates. I feel it has the potential to be really good so I never got rid of it, and I'll definitely keep your review in mind to give it a revamp.

Once I'm done (and not before the New Year, that's for sure), any chance you'd be willing to test it again as a before/after comparison?

  21. Been actually thinking about this as a serious booster pack. It could include:

Prestige Power: Speed Skating (a la Ninja Run meets Power Slide)
Prestige Power: Holiday Help (summon an elf, gingerbread man, snowman, or reindeer - non-combat pet who runs around after you)
Prestige Power: You've Been...! (affect other player - "Nice" they glow a la levelling up and get all the Tier 2 insp boosts at once, like a lesser powered levelling up bonus... "Naughty" they turn into a lump of coal for 20 seconds)
Emote: Caroling (character stands with book in both hands, head bobbing as though singing)
Emote: Belly laugh (see Steelclaw's description above)
Emote: Pucker Up (character whips out mistletoe and holds it above his/her head, while standing on tiptoe)
    Costume Part: Blinky red nose
    Costume Part: Antlers
    Costume Part: Ice Skates
Customizable Weapon: Ski poles (dual blades)
Aura: Christmas Lights (dual color, blinks on and off)
    Base Item: Christmas Tree (duh)
    Base Item: Menorah (also duh)
Base Item: Something Kwanzaa-ish (no idea)
Base Item: Sleigh (it'll fit nicely between the Longbow Chaser and the Arachnos Flier - make your own assumptions about why you have it)

I don't know about any of you, but I'd shell out $10 for this, especially if half of it went to charity.

I know I'm in a very very small minority. But this gift isn't just for me, coz I use it for other people. Please, if you could, ask the Paragon Studios team to make sure that the demorecord feature stays in future issues of COH? And even maybe improve on it? I know it's a lot to ask, but if they're making better commercials now, maybe the Creative Services team could expand on it? Please? Thanks!
