I know Vertical Studios (Aralcox) is a European vid maker. He and I have occasionally joked about collaborating on a video, but the distance and time difference makes coordinating a bit problematic.

Question:
Does mine appear to anyone else as anything other than a graphic of a masked woman and Positron against a cityscape with the legend "THE COURSE OF SUPERHERO ROMANCE: True love never did run smooth"? Someone says my banner looks like an ad to another site, but no one else seems to have the problem.
Please don't yank my chain on this one - I'm trying to work with support to see if this is a possible security issue.

Quote:That is BIZARRE. But thank you for actually including a screenshot - the link that references the graphic is going directly to my server, so somehow it's being changed along the way. When *I* look at it, it shows my banner (468x60) for my story, not a random ad.I was the one who did that. Viewing your post now shows an Ancestry.com ad.
Whatever you have in your signature is showing up as various ads to me. I gave -rep bacause of that.
EDIT: Here is how it now looks to me: http://yfrog.com/47example1g
I will send it along to support (and that URL if you don't mind) to see what the deal is. And no worries about the rep - I'd be annoyed too if I saw that. I just thought it was someone coming up with a random reason to badmouth me.

This is amusing - I got docked rep for "having an ad for Classmates.com in my signature."
*looks at signature and tests links*
Ummmmmmmm... no.

Some of you have incorrect links for the story in your sigs because they point to the old boards. The new links are:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=125747 (the story itself)
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=127349 (the Discussions thread)
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=142939 (Part II)
Please update accordingly so we can spread the Nerd Flirting word!

It works that way in both directions. If you've been dinged over and over again by folks fairly close to the zero mark, and one person with a really GREAT rep comes along and positively reps you, it's a big shift as well.
Hey, I didn't design the damn thing!

The positive/negative rep thing is not a 1 to 1 scale. It's weighted depending on the rep of the person repping you. A person with a significantly higher (or lower) rep then repping you has greater weight than someone just slightly off the zero mark in either direction. So you can have a lot of 'little' positive reps, and have ONE person with a really negative one come along and negative rep you, and WHOOSH, your rep plummets faster than the Viper roller coaster at Magic Mountain.

Quote:My tenuous hold on 1st place was quickly derailed. I've gotten several negative reps in the last couple of hours with comments like "Out to pull you down" and "j" (whatever the hell that means). Now I'm back to 3rd or 4th or somesuch. Oh, well - good rep, bad rep, people still know me.I just looked at the "order" again. Good thing I took that screen shot when I did. Gratz Samuraiko!
For the record, I'm not nice. Depending on the charitability of the person talking about me, I'm anything from "refreshingly honest" to "damned abrasive" to "direct" to "rude". No one ever refers to me as "nice."
But yeah, this is probably a whole new griefing system, especially for those who have a harder time differentiating between "I'm negative repping your post" and "I'm negative repping YOU."

Okay, I now have IRREFUTABLE proof that this system is borked.
Upon going to the Members List, and ranking according to reputation, would someone please explain to me how in the holy hell I am ranked THIRD?! There are THOUSANDS of forumites more highly regarded than moi who are currently being shunned, CAST ASIDE by the public's failure to step up and rep these people accordingly!
This, ladies and gentlemen, is a clear sign of the times we live in.

Quote:Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!Just finished reading the TCoSR and I gotta say I LOVED it. I almost always enjoy CoX fanfiction but that's the first time a story's really sucked me in like that! Excellent work, can't wait to start on TCoSR II, but right now I need some sleep...
Quote:Hey dark, can you link me the original image you used in the tCoSHR banner there? I just wanna make one that matches the size of the other banner I have in my signature already.
For those who want to use my banner in your signature, please save it to your own storage location and link it that way, rather than just hotlinking to mine, please. Alternately, if you have a design for a banner, post it!

Would you believe my grav/kin solos AVs without a problem? Between the Singularity, the 6-slotted Transfusion, the 6-slotted Transference, and the Immob/Holds that all have PROCs for SOME kind of alternate damage, she has been known to tear a** through stuff with surprising ease.
But that's just me.

Personally, my bots/dark MM took Ghost Widow. Soul Storm and Soul Tentacles are like, "SIT! STAY! GET BLASTED INTO OBLIVION!" Grand fun. But by all means, go with what you feel most comfortable with.

Nice to know that mousing over the thread before actually entering it translates from Webdings (or whatever that font is) to something standard. Still think the OP is rather lacking, because it actually reads:
"The value of testing [translated from Webdings]... before publishing.[/close translation]"

Well, I just hit my two-year mark, so short of shelling out for three more years of paid time, I doubt I'll be getting into GR closed beta. But considering that 95% of the time, I want to get in so I can film, it's not like not getting in is the end of the world.
I know there are other folks who are absolutely fantastic at finding bugs and are unsung heroes at catching stuff that might otherwise make it past the radar, and generally improve the overall game experience for the rest of us, so I'd rather see them get in.
As far as rewarding loyalty, I'm not planning on going anywhere in the foreseeable future, so if they want to give me a spiffy badge for sticking around, I'm game.
Though I do find it amusing that if the picture of the Vigilant badge from the email is the one they intend to use, they're using Jack Emmert's characters (Statesman and Sister Psyche).

The OP did spark one idea, though, that I'm a bit too tired to go look it up myself in the Technical/Bugs section...
... do we have instructions there for how to run a traceroute from an individual's computer to the NCsoft servers, so that (should the info prove a significant loss of rate) the individual can pass it along to either their ISP or the tech support guys at NCsoft?
If it's an ISP issue, router issue (as in internet, not as in wireless thing you have in your house), or even backbone server issue (rare, but it does happen), then grousing at the NCsoft team is useless because the lag is not their fault.
Just something to consider.

Really? I've been on other sites that use this engine/software/whatever and you can see who left the comment. Oh, that bites. Yet another venue for those people that are willing to wave their inferiority complexes in your face while hiding behind the anonymity of the Internet.

Morons are morons no matter what limits you try to put on them
People like that are the reason I've been known to enter discussions with, "Hey, at least I'm willing to admit I'm an *****."
I'm not planning on disabling it simply because I doubt I'll ever post anything of meaning that will inspire folks to go, "She's brilliant, add to her rep," or "She's an *****, detract from it." I will hover on the fine line of mediocrity.
