  1. Hey Blasters. I have 10 50s but just one blaster and I have to admit I don't know the ins and outs of slotting out a Blaster. Below is what I have worked out for my Fire/Energy/Force. He is made to be durable. I was trying to get to the ranged soft cap but unless I lay my hands on the billion dollar PvP +Def Proc I can't seem to get there comming up at about 43+%. The Force set does give this Blaster a high level of "oh ****" survivability with Force of Nature and a get out of jail free card with Personal Force Shield.

    So what am I missing? Slots? Sets?

  2. Can't get the DataLink to work on that last build...
  3. OK I updated the build one last time. I increased the recharge, regen and recovery. As I look at it you could move the second slot in LR over the Hasten since LR is pretty Gimped now as it is.

    Like I mentioned above I do see this version as being at least somewhat AV solo worthy but cant say for sure until you do some testing. I am guessing it will be a bit end challenged but you could load out on end insp or just be very careful on the attack rate.

  4. I updated my build. With RI running you should be soft capped for ranged def. So when on a single target you should be hard to kill and this rig might be good enough to solo a few AVs. I don't see any of the other builds on this page being able to do this cause you will take too much incoming damage.
  5. Hey, I wipped up something here and tried to keep you epic choice which made the build a bit harder to slot out. I only got you up to about 40+% Ranged defense about 5% short of the cap but it should make you a bit more durable. It still needs some work but it's a lot better.

  6. Hey thanks for the input. I actually have been working up a new build based off previous and your suggestions that has WH in it and removed Laser Eyes or what ever it is. I guess I was just using the Aegis cause it was a level 50 instead of the 40 for Impervium. I will look at the changes with it. I am not worried about Active Def cause Sgt already is a level 50 and won't be spending much time TF'ing lower but I could move it lower just in case I do participatein a super low TF. So if FA is such a big end suck I could use Laser Eyes and slot it minimally as I prefer to slot out WH. That will give me two T9 Single target attacks and two AOE attacks and a throw away Barrage. I will post my new build in a bit for further review.

    Despite having two lvl 50 tanks I have not posted here yet?!?! Gah! It looks like a good forum so far! I have an old school Fire/Ice tank (bet you can't guess what I did with that rig... :P ) and my current respec project a SD/Energy tank.

    So here is the help I am looking for - tear my current project apart and make him more durable! Don't get me wrong he has been pretty damn durable and has tanked several AVs at once but I wan't him better! His current build is a SD/Energy/Stone but I am thinking more along the lines of a SD/Energy/Energy Mastery now that it has Physical Perfection. I am willing to skip One With Shield if it means a better overall (more survivable) build. He was origninally made to solo AVs but predictably his damage output was a bit low and he only has solo'ed maybe a half dozen AVs so far. I have other toons much better suited to solo'ing AVs/GMs.

    This is going to be my "oh hell the **** just hit the fan" tank. Think TFs.

    I will post my proposed build below but I know you tanker types have some tanker type tricks for making these type of rigs I am probably missing so tear this rig apart. For the record I skipped as many attacks as possible and took the last two Energy attacks cause they hit like T9s both and when you add in Shield Charge, well, BAM! They are just a bit slow to recharge and that slows the DPS down to levels that are not good for AVs but they stomp Bosses and lower in quick fasion. (I even PvP'ed with him a little and the right timing of 3 T9s hitting takes down lots of toons in quick fashion.) A question I have is do you need two Epic set powers before taking Physical Perfection? If not then I see a pretty nice set of slots and a power in Laser Eyes waiting to be played with. Anyway here is my build - thanks for the help!

  9. OK I gave up on the 2.5% ranged def and slotted the Apoc Proc in Sheik. With a 33 percent chance to do 107. pts of damage that is a much better choice than a damage proc in Efence. I also added the Achille's Heel back into to RI. That should up my damage a bit. I am not sure I will go for the full Apoc set since it gives up an additional 1.25% ranged and, well, costs a lot. :P I gave up a bit of slow to get the Proc in RI. I think I probably gain more in damage than I lose in the regen reduction department.

    I must admit I liked having 45.5% ranged def. What should be the target goal for a rad defender in ranged def?
  10. Below is my Fire/Shield/Body Mastery Scrapper build. This toon was a bit of a disappointment until I repec'ed in Body Mastery and Physical Perfection. That is when this toon took off and so far she has solo'ed over a dozen AVs many w/o any insp. I don't get the sense she could solo a GM but I have, as of yet, to try.

    Hope this build helps and any suggestions on how to improve it would be appreciated.

  11. OK I made some changes. Reduced slots in RI - took out the Proc and the HO since I wanted the 5% recharge, I changed the Lingering Radiation set and added to recharge and an acc, removed slots from Stamina and Charged Armor, up slotted Power Sink all the way to get the recharge, up slotted CJ and added Zephyr. I didn't chage AM since I am not sure where I would move the slots and it gives me a damage bonus and +5% recharge. I could take two slots out of EMPulse and slot it with Basilisk which would drop my Ranged Def a bit to 42% but I could then put a slot back in RI and Stamina and get a combined 4.5% damage bonus.

  12. Hmmm some big changes making those mods to the build. I will take a look at your ideas and make some updates. Silverado what do you think of the overall power set? Any changes you would recommend?
  13. Below is Meta Radiant my Rad/Sonic Defender who is hopefully going to be a GM killer, uh arrester. (Can you really arrest a Giant Monster?)

    As far as the build goes I will share a few ideas and design thoughts. She is clearly slotted for Ranged Defense and has as much AOE defense in the build as I could get w/o compromising the ranged defense and damage rate. I selected a Rad for the bebuffs (-to hit, -def and slow, and I selected the Sonic totally for the -Res. After reading some great threads in the Defender forums I settled on the Shriek, Scream, Shriek, Electric Fence attack chain to maximize damage and -res for a single target.

    Being a single target build I had what I considered to be a few throw away powers. I took powers which I thought best supported the solo build through the IO Sets that could be slotted in those powers - EM Pulse with Lock Down which gives a good damage buff and good defense including a 3.75% Ranged Def, Chocking Cloud which I could 4 slot and get increased ranged def and .7.5% Global Recharge as well as a Recharge Slow proc, and Power Sink which I don't think I will need but I single slotted it and it can't hurt to have another end source. I also took a second travel power (gasp! I have NEVER taken two travel powers so it was a hard thing to do) for its good defense increase using Blessing of the Zephyer. I did put the Numina's +/+ proc into Radiant Aura which is the first time I have put it anywhere besides Health but by monitoring my Recharge Rate I can tell when it is time to pop a heal off. I also have my two damage procs slotted in Electric Fence instead of just the one Trap of the Hunter because I would have to give up 2.5% ranged def by slotting it into the preferred Shriek. After a discussion I judged Electricity Mastery to be the best fit as it gave very good damage resists and EFence to hold AV's at bay.

  14. Hey eveyone,

    I have been working on a project, a Rad/Sonic, designed to solo GMs (and AVs). I see this as a logical end point for CoH (CoV), a hero who can take on the games biggest and baddest challenges. What I am looking for here is some help working out the fine details of my build. I know there are many of you who are much better and working out the synergies of a build and eeking out the nth degree of ability. It is my hope that we can share our thoughts on designing a bjuild for this type of gaming and that others who follow can benefit from my (and your) trials and mistakes.

    I have several builds (Tank, scrapper and Controller) who have had vaious levels of success soloing AVs but none that can solo GMs so far. Hopefully what follows can be a good conversation about what it takes to make one of the heros. I sometimes wonder if just moving one or two slots can't make or break a well designed toon.

    In the following post I will share my Rad/Sonic build and then over time post my other builds so that maybe we can all learn from my mistakes and hopefully your tips and bits of knowledge. Please share your builds here as well and a brief description of how successful it has been.

  15. TY for the assistance. Nothing seems to work. Still have isues. I did the XP Install trick, ran a registry fix program. Used the Last Known Good Config, can't use the System Restore for some reason. I am feeling a full install from scratch might be needed.

    I would say a good 2/3s of my processes are not loading hence no network connection on that machine.

    I restarted with the start bar ---> restart.

    When the computer restarted I no longer had internet nor could I use the Start Bar.
  18. So there I was a couple of days ago logging into CoH. I had sound before I started up CoH but after CoH started I didn't. I ignored it for a bit as I was inundated with private tells the second I logged in and ended up running a RWZ Raid. Then afterwards we were going to run a TF. I really wanted sound back so I was going to restart when one of my SG mates types "Hey my sound isn't working I am going to restart." Poof he was gone and when he come back he notes that his sound still is not working. I note to the group that my sound is also not working and that I was going to do a full restart. Two days later my computer is still borked (<---- think I made that up) and I am considering having to do a full reinstall of the OS. Conincidence? Or, did CoH make hash out of my Windows XP box?
  19. Is there a web version of Mids or a web based Hero Designer that can export a bit more data like the Defense totals and recharge?

    I would have to be able to tinker with it a bit because that is not like any build I have seen before so I am at a loss. (I don't have too many Defenders.) I also see some empty slots in there. Single slotted stamina? Cool if that isn't an issue - it is on all of my toons.
  20. Anyone care to explain the Attack Chain visualizer or share their spread sheets?

    I think I pretty much have the visualizer figured out except DS = DPS? Is ACT=Cast Time? Also my chain kept alternating between the top two powers in my list instead of the whole chain over and over and was reporting damge in the 1000s, so something is messed up.
  21. The Attack Chain Visualizer is not making a whole lot of sense to me. What are each of the categories and how should they be filled in? DS = DPS? ACT = Cast Time? Recharge = Base Recharge Time?

    How do you read the output? When I tried it it kept alternating two of my 4 attacks from left to right...
  22. Oh I slotted one Damage Proc into Efence. Would dropping say a Dam/End/Rech and slotting in a second Damage Proc make a substantial difference - enough to offset the fact I would be slotting in a Purple damage proc and its associated costs?
  23. And I read somewhere somewhat recently that it DOES stack but only testing will tell for sure I guess. Ummm so how would someone test that? Does the Power Analyzer give those types of stats while in combat?

    I have a rad/rad I could try slotting up on test with -res procs...

    One project at a time though but I will put this in the works for next.
  25. I reposted my build above because:

    A) I noticed I had posted my "What if" build,
    B) I post long build exports so it made no sense to take up that much room twice
    C) I dropped Shout, took SS and moved slots around.

    I think I almost had an aneurysm taking a second travel power... It did push me up to 44+% ranged def and 23+% AOE def (which when combined with RI might actually be in the somewhat useful range). I did lose some recharge but not a lot.

    I held onto Acrobatics because according to Mids AM only gives status protection to Immob, while giving large resistance to Hold, Stun, Sleep and Immob. Acro adds two points of status protection to Hold, 9 points to Knockback and layers on additional resistance to hold.

    Any caveats? Changes? What am I missing?
