Impersonation is exactly the problem, or would be with non-unique names. The only reason this hasn't been an issue until now is we've gotten a new server (I guess technically NA players got 4 new servers a short while ago, but honestly who cares about those).

  2. Word of mouth really does work wonders. I'm not sure how I feel about "make an ad, then delete it and remake it so it always stays on top", since that sort of behavior is kind of sketchy, but I would definitely stand behind promoting the game where one can.

Now you can impersonate someone even if their name is already taken on a server! Problem solved!

The general consensus for why this was case is that it had do with the settlement of the now infamous Marvel lawsuit. Theoretically by keeping the control of costume creation behind the curtain of having to be online in the game the Mods of this game could better police people and prevent them from making clones of popular comic book characters. It's pretty much this reason alone that explains why we'll likely never get an updated standalone or web-based costume creator at any price let alone for free. *shrugs*
This argument doesn't hold as much weight now* that the game is effectively F2P. Also, I don't understand why "a standalone creator would lack policing" makes any sense since nothing is currently stopping you from making costumes of copyrighted characters and just saving them without ever creating the character. The only difference now is that you can't create costumes during game downtime. Why this should matter in regards to the lawsuit is beyond me.

    *Well, soon™.
  5. Look, I can understand why the intro contacts were updated. New content and all that. Haven't had a chance to run most of it yet but it aside from the tedium of open-world respawn farming it looks like some interesting stuff. I can even understand and appreciate why the old blueside intro contacts aren't in Ouro -- most of them are duller than dull and interchangeable anyway.

But the absence of Doctor Creed is one step too damn far. Weird Science was one of my favorite arcs in the game; truly nothing gave me greater joy in this game than running around making Infected get blowed up with anti-serum, then enacting SCIENCE! revenge on Doctor Geist. (After completing his first mission I would continue to do circuits around the mission building using the anti-serum on Infected until it ran out.)

PLEASE bring these arcs back in Ouro. Bluesiders will complain of course (they always do; they don't understand that evil will always win because good is dumb), and I guess you could make a token gesture and bring some of the old blueside contacts back. As I recall there was actually quite a bit of overlap, you could probably just bring back one or two of them. New shiny is nice, but please don't continue to outright remove old content. Use Ouro, that's why it exists.

Seems like it happens every Issue; even if there's nothing officially announced in the patch notes, something in there usually ends up getting moved to a different place.
  7. No, but only because I've been forgetting that I have them now.

I have never had any issues updating a patch, the only thing i can think off...
I have recently installed the Beta and Test servers.. and they want to update and such too. I try to pause it, but my main game still is affected by it, and just freezes up while downloading.

And i'll see what tech says, cus this is getting to the point that i just want to delete the whole thing.
    Calm down.

I notice you didn't answer my question, if your hard drive is seriously fragmented that might be causing problems with the patch downloading/installing properly. Opening a support ticket is also a good idea. Given all the problems that I21 has wrought there could be something going on you're not aware of.

Hope this helps, and maybe next time try posting questions calmy and nicely and you won't be "trolled".

  10. I gotta be honest, I like the effect, at least when applied to Dimension Shift.
  11. Who should compensate you? Plenty of other people were able to patch, so it's not the game's fault.

Have you recently defragged the hard drive the game is installed on?

There's a difference between reserving a name (especially if it's one you're already known by) for future use and taking up a name that someone else is known by for purposes of either holding it hostage or griefing. Most of the toons in that screenshot were likely the former rather than the latter.

Uh. I hope. My opinion of human nature has taken a lot of hits in the past few years so I freely admit that I could be wrong.

You could always check their identity on your own, in-game (see my previous post).

Sounds like a cartoonish page turn to me, which I imagine is what they were going for.

If you can get information off such a system, I bow before you.
  16. Apparently someone has been grabbing names of high-profile posters from the forums and holding them hostage. Some of the server forums have threads about it.

By the way, if you want to know EXACTLY who took it: /getglobalname Philotic Knight
  17. The Dark power customization coloring for Beam Rifle's Overcharge doesn't seem to be working the way one would expect. Unlike the pitch-dark beam one can produce with the rest of the powers in the set, the center of Overcharge's beam/emanation point is bright white. I hope this isn't working as intended because it makes the power look very much out of place.

    Cebr

So glad I bothered to roll a CEBR a week or two ago. Well, at least I got her up to level 25 (and yes, much to my chagrin she is a catgirl; I am not overly proud of this). One problem solved though: I rolled her on my new second account, but was disappointed that I wouldn't get to play her in AE after the account goes Premium later this month (alt-itis and life would have assured that she would not reach 50 by then). Don't need to worry about that anymore, I guess.

  22. Just to clarify right off the bat, I mean on the forum. I'm red-green colorblind, now I can barely tell the difference between rednames and regular posters. Also, it's an ugly color and clashes horribly with the blue background (and no, I don't want to use the Villain color scheme, tyvm).
  23. Unfortunately I don't have an answer to your question, but I just thought I'd mention that the servers haven't come back up from maintenance yet anyway, so even if you get this resolved you may not be able to immediately get on (your client should still load fine though, it just won't let you onto any of the servers).
