I was wondering if, to use the upcomming base gear intended to help we little guys, we would still need power and control?

    Thanks!

All of the Empowerment Stations are self-powered, self-controled. i.e. it's Power use is 0, and it's Control use is 0.

Salvage storage is the same. Enhancement and Inspiration storage does take power and control.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, my SG which consists of myself and a friend and a couple of our ALTs which currently has 3 rooms, power and a computer can sell the power and computer back and probably have Prestiege to spare.

Please don't have any circle of thorns in I7 content.

    Please.

I'm begging you. I'm so [censored] tired of fighting circle of thorns. I have fought them constantly from 1-40.

    Please.

  6. Much Coolness here ... too bad the video on Gamespot's so tiny though
  7. Yes they are 4 separate files each with one line in them exactly as shown.

To start it all up load the first file:

    /bind_load_file c:\keybinds\aa1.txt

and you should be all set
  8. I feel your pain with this one.

My mystery man had super speed for the longest time - I RP'd it as his motorcycle as needed (although it pushed the limits "riding" through Talos to get to Founders Falls in the water).

Then, right after I6 but before all the votes were in, I respecd him to have no travel powers other than Sprint + Swift + Hurdle + Combat Jumping ... gaah
He gets around but geez he's slow (a friend of mine, pre-I6, did this and was a rocket running through zones). Next power level I'll probably be getting Super Jump only because he has a prereq for it already.

If only they'd introduce vehicles .... *big sigh*
  9. Oh, and BTW ... since the _Castle_ post makes it clear that Controllers Control and Defenders Buff/Debuff and that's what makes the difference not the Primary/Secondary-ness of a set ... how is a Pet control?

Dark Servent is a buffing/debuffing pet (buffing HP); if "is it control or is it buff/debuff" is the litmus test then why doesn't Fluffy have the same perks as a controller pet (duration primarily)? The logic presented breaks down here.
  10. I'm in the Primary > Secondary camp (who isn't and isn't a dev).

I'd think that the way to do this would be to have some sort of overall scaling factor say 1.2 for a Primary set. The problem with doing this now would be having to rebalance basically every shared set in the game which, of course, would set the boards on fire with "nerf!" cries.

    <rant>
My overall thoughts on this basically boil down to my perception that Controllers shouldn't have Defender Primaries for their Secondary sets. Nearly every other AT's Primary/Secondary sets have a conceptial synergy:

    <ul type="square"> [*] Dark/Dark[*] Storm/Electric[*] Rad/Rad[*] Assault Rifle/Devices[*] Super Strength/Invulnerability[*] Claws/Regen [*] an on ...[/list]
Controller powers don't have this with the possible exception of Ice/Storm and maybe (pushing it) Grav/Kin. This makes controller power set selection more of a mechanical issue (how the mechanics of the power sets complement each other) than a conceptial one (how the ideas of the power sets complement each other). A great example of this is the (once, I'm not sure anymore since I haven't kept up) UBER Illusion/Storm set ... [censored] - how do Illusion and Weather powers fit together without coming up with some convluted explanation? They don't .. the build works like magic, the concept - not so much.

Nearly all my heros have been cowboys .. no really, Defenders. I love how their powers fit together and how they can be both soloists and team players. Before containment (I really haven't tried since) I tried, oh how I tried, playing a controller. I just couldn't do it.

Now, oddly, my favorite character is a Dominator - what a Controller should have been. The Primary and Secondary sets jive .. they make sense and they mechanically complement each other.

If only the Devs could come out with a Time Control set and use it themselves to go back and rethink the Controller secondaries.

Sorry for the long post but this has been a sore point for me since the first time I tried to play a controller

All I can say is it's a good thing Awry doesn't read the forums or else she might have realized she was being tricked into giving out information that would be broadcast to the world!

    Wow. Close shave there, huh?

    Amazing stuff.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, since I didn't ask anything really underhanded and, in her reply, she seemed to give tacit approval for me to let everyone know, I did.

If she had asked me to keep it to myself then I, of course, would have. (And sat smugly at my computer watching the speculations fly )

It would be cool if they were going to do some Asian re-styling of the Paragon City environments for the Asian market... That'd get them that much closer to having the artwork necessary for World of Heroes in the future (they already have some European building styling in The Rogue Isles and Kroatoa).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe a "China town" of some sort ... that would be a nice touch
  14. Here's her response:

Glad you liked it! Be sure to let everyone on the boards know that there will be absolutely no difference between the Korean version and the US/EU version of the game .

I think the singular use of “Hero” is for the Korean translation though someone with a better grasp of Korean could probably answer that one better than I.

That was an amazing video! Send kudos to the ones who need them for it!!!

So, now that the door's been opened, are new zones going to be available to those of us poor souls stuck in the US? The city where the cemetary was located was very cool.

After seeing it, a couple more questions:

How is COH in Asia going to be different from the US/EU version?

Will any addtional powers/costumes/whatnot make their way to the western world?

    And a comment:

The final shot in the video shows the name of the game as "City of Hero", what gives?

    Thanks oh Queen of Darkness!

As a non-Stalker who's gonna butt-in, here's what I see (related to the above). From posts by fervent PvPers elsewhere around here, a good percentage of the Villains in the PvP zones are Stalkers. So, given that there's a group of ATs/builds/whatever that (from the quote above) "have no chance" against said Stalkers you're gonna continue to hear the lamentations of their women about it.

I wouldn't be so bitter myself if there was something my Rad/Rad defender could do besides zipping randomly around the sky like a crystal meth junkie to have a fair fight against a TP Stalker. As it is now, when I suddenly appear somewhere where I wasn't a moment before I just grab my ankles.

    [/ QUOTE ]

First, no one has "no chance" against a stalker unless they choose to ignore the options of dealing with a stalker. Everybody has the ability to choose Tactics. A lot of AT powersets have something that can make life difficult for a stalker. Everyone can team.

As for a TP stalker, TP foe is not the end all be all unless you are being ported into a place with no obstacles that block line of view. If there is a building right near you, run for the corner as fast as you can. AStrike does not hit if the target is obscured from view. TP foe also knocks off Hide, so a stalker doing that to you will need to placate before doing the AStrike which gives time to RUN. Unless they happen to have a nice mez they can pop on you to prevent you from going anywhere before placating.

I admit, a PvP stalker build is damn hard to fight unless you plan a PvP build with counters for it. But a fair amount of stalkers do NOT have a PvP build. And they can be dealt with without needing to plan your build entirely around PvP.

Some of the kills I gain as a stalker, I really should not have gained. But because my opponent was too slow to react, didn't pay attention to their surroundings, or did not use their terrain to advantage, I gain a number of kills.

The one thing that some people don't seem to understand is that PvP is extremely fast paced. It is not like PvE where you can predict to some degree exactly what will happen. You cannot just stand still and hit buttons and win. You must keep moving and you must be alert. Most importantly, you must be prepared to take a fall and to get back up and try again.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When I was turned into the bitter creature that I am now:
    1) I had tactics and maneuvers running
    2) was on a team
    3) was standing next to someone with tactics &amp; maneuvers running
    4) was standing on top of a tall building with my teammates (we were waiting, for quite a while)
    5) was repeadtedly TP'd to the ground into a nitch in the building like:
    [----
    s m| &lt;------ s = stalker, m = me
    [----
so that I could not escape.
    6) the events were, over and over, TP+Placate+AS, except for the time when there were 3 stalkers crowded in there around me and it was: TP+Placate+AS+AS+AS

I realize that this is a legitimate tactic, however, I had no defense against the TP or the Placate (apparently since it worked every time) and was not allowed to fight back (ooo I'm a big scary defender, you'd better Placate me!!). Yeah I know, Stalkers of villians -- it's just shown me (at least) as a group they are sniviling little cowards who didn't have the guts to take on a Defender in a fair fight. A fair fight I'm not saying I would have one but, of course, I'll never know, will I.

Anyway, I'll leave y'all to your little confab.

No...to the new pvper out there of course it seems that way.

Stalkers are like every other pvp build out there..some builds have no chance against us, others it's going to be a fight for us, and other builds we have no chance against.

Seriously check the general PvP forum all the whining and nerf calling that's been over since I4 started right back up again. All the new players who stayed out of the arena are now having to play catch up. Either you find a way to adapt or you get killed repeatedly.

I'd even be willing to bet that most of the serious PvPers have stalkers...so what is being seen is good players vs bad players. Seems most of my kills against tanks and scrappers is nothing other then me out playing them.

  19. It always got me in CoH when I'd hear stories about how someone couldn't get on a respec team 'cause they were gimpped or not the right AT or whatever. I too thought that was the point: go in less than the best, come out better than before ...
  20. Nice guide.

An additional comment about that "little circle" that links your colors. Usually before I unclick it, I pick two basic colors that I think I'll use for my character. I try to make them nice and contrasting so that I can at least see the effects of the various pattern options. It also means not burning my eyes out looking at the typically radioactive colors that the costume creator initially picks.

If I'm just not sure yet what my base colors are, I usually pick black and white. They are not too bright and all the different patterns are nicely displayed.

Where's the injustice? MM's are people or robots or undead masters of darkity darkness too!
