Alas, poor shiny, I knew thee well!
There is no line. There is only our own individual line - the reward tree. It's not some line we are all in - we are all on our separate path through that tree. Rewards aren't being handed out with discrimination between who gets what - we are all eligible - some sooner than others based on the longevity of their subscription or rewarded for money spent on the market. Wait your time - and if you are a VIP - you will eventually hit that Tier.
Your lack of patience and self entitlement and your whole "I WANT IT NAAAOOOOO!!!1!" attitude is something that needs refinement
Shouting "MINE MINE MINE MY PRECIOUS"
I am sure you can't grasp that some people don't feel belittled by others having nice things and are actually happy for them.
Just to illustrate how petty your post seems
Yep If paragon wants to go ahead and sell these things for a dollar its fine by me. -
Quote:The incarnate system and such that is what you pay to have access to.The cost of Celestial is somewhat murky to begin with, since tokens can't be purchased separately. It should be no surprise that it will vary from person to person, as well. So yes, you're correct that the cost varies. Still, some of the tokens so purchased have gone to benefits other than Celestial, so it's not quite accurate to include them fully in Celestial's cost, either.
Tokens are not free. They are part of the purchase, and cannot be purchased separately, and thus are difficult to assign a definite value to, but as you referred to yourself, some people spent $100 or more specifically to get the tokens. If people have to spend money to get it, it is not free. Its cost is also not the full amount they spent, since they got other things for that money as well, but it is not free. It is somewhere in between "free" and "$15 per token". I have estimated the value at about 400 points (not to be confused with $5, since $5 of points also gets you partway to a reward token). If you would like to counter with your own estimate and reasoning for that value, do so, and we can discuss it. But "free" is not a valid estimate, no more than it would be valid to say that Incarnate content is free, and SSAs are free, and all VIP features are free yet still add up to $15 monthly somehow.
Didn't I say I wouldn't post again on this topic? Crap.
Edit: to fix quote tags
But the tokens are free, they are given for each 1200 Paragon Points bought/earned and after each month of being a VIP.
This works the same way as a promotion in a store, 'buy two get one free' with your store loyalty card, and some stores even have promotions for non card holders that work the same way. -
Quote:No.So, is your position that Paragon shouldn't have a tiered reward system for VIPs, only for Premium players?
I'll explain once again... Revamp T9VIP into T-VIP, make it accessible to all and only VIPs regardless of their tier progress.
Climb the Reward tree as usual, only the VIPs can pick to slot a Token in the T-VIP section because they are VIPs. However, if a T4 VIP picks a VIP reward, they are halted in their Reward Tree progress. Also, make it so that only VIPs actually have access to the VIP rewards, meaning, that if you are a VIP who has the whole Fire and Ice costume set, you will not have access to it once you drop to Premium, and if you have a costume with VIP parts, they will reset once you go to a tailor and want to alter that outfit. This to entice people to stay VIP.
Current T9VIPs will loose nothing. If they paid, or played their way to T9VIP, they will not loose any Tokens, any Points or things they have unlocked. Non T9 VIPs, will only have access to the VIP rewards, will not get any bonus points on top of their 400PP and such because they are halted in their reward tree progress. -
Quote:By your estimations, the cost of Celestial varies per person, because some DID spend over $100, $200 or even more to get the amount of tokens to get the set.Celestial is not free. It costs reward tokens, which cost money. Of course, it's silly to say that reward tokens are $15 each, because you get lots of other things with a month's subscription or from the points you buy. It's equally silly to claim they cost $0. They cost somewhere in between. The precise amount is of course debatable, but 400 points (the point value of the lowest-point-value and most-widely-usable repeatable) seems like a pretty decent estimate, by which measure Celestial is 1200 points.
Tokens are free, you get them for free when you buy/earn 1200PP and 1 per each month you are VIP, and they are added with no additional costs to you.
Quote:Your lack of patience and self entitlement and your whole "I WANT IT NAAAOOOOO!!!1!" attitude is something that needs refinement
Best is to find a common ground for this, and that common ground imo is still being VIP. -
Quote:And that is their own choice. The only thing I worry about is that this forces non-T9's to choose between the vet status perks and the costumes.
Either progress in their Reward Tree progress and have more perks when dropping to Premium, or get the VIP rewards and delay your Reward Tree progress.
People will be more inclined to stay VIP longer, and do not face a heft lump sum of cash to get the VIP rewards.
Those who have T9 filled will not loose anything.
Those who have bought their way up, will still have all the benefits they paid for. -
And this brings me back to my suggestion:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=288296
Revamp T9VIP, make it accessible to all (and only) VIPs, and rename it T-VIP.
I see the same mentality regarding the VIP outfits here. People fighting for their elite status and ego, while showing signs of megalomania and narcissism. -
Did they change the Helm of Zeus too?
I got this god awful secondary color now on my front faceplate.
I had the backside red, to match my outfit/mask color, and the front plate silver. I log in, and see this red line on my front plate, with PINK at the forehead section. Also, whoever drew those lines? They are not even on the lines of the front mask, like half on, half off.
Please, give us the option to have that separate! -
So the whole statement about Statesman remaining the face of the franchise is out the window now?
-
Ok i read a few pages, not all....
No comment on the comments.
Forgive me if i do not wanna read through all these pages for a few questions i have.
I'd like to know if the store and regular versions will be the same, or if the store version will be better.
i just hope that both versions will be the same. -
Quote:Right on the mark with this comment. And the behavior of a rabid minority in the PvP community has a lot to do with that perception.
It always has been and probably always will be a tough sell in this game, which was built for PvE and attracted that sort of playerbase. Some PvP'ers continually acting out achieves nothing but reinforcing negative stereotypes.
I love PvP, and i respect people who don't.
We all are different and we like and dislike things others have a different opinion about, this is nothing bad, it's human.
If i am in a PvP zone, and i see someone i can fight, i make sure that they are there to fight and not work on a badge or something else. If they wanna fight, and they are seriously outclassed by me, i'll either call it quits, or if they want to keep going, tone myself down to make it more fair so they can enjoy it better. However, if i am attacked by someone unprovoked, no matter what, i'll use anything i have, after that we can talk about stuff.
I join FNFN (Friday Night Fight Night) on my server, just some friendly PvP in Pocket D, and we have a blast. Always fun, even when i get my behind handed back to me several times in a row. It's just a nice group of people who know what respect is, and we try to bring PvP back to our server that way.
I understand that each community has their bad apples, and if those bad apples act up about something that the majority of the rest of the player base already hate or dislike, it only makes it worse to try and put the whole PvP community in a good light.
The thing we need is respect.
Respect from the few hardcore PvP players to the non PvP crowd, and not be as obnoxious about getting PvP fixed as some are. Also respect from the non PvP crowd to the hardcore PvP players, because they are still a part of this great community, and they do still matter. -
Quote:I suggested something similar before; give players their own pocket dimension/bottle city to save/rule over. People said it was stupid and I should go play a singleplayer game.
.
Actually, they might give everyone the ability to do create your own dimension.
If you look closely at the Incarnate path, Prometheus stated that the strongest of incarnates CAN create their own world. Pocket D, by DJ Zero is one of many examples. -
Quote:They can do the same right now... it doesn't take a subscription to fill the tree.I think you misunderstood what was being said. The argument isn't that they would "only" subscribe for a month after buying the necessary reward tokens to get the current Tier 9 rewards, the argument is that they aren't forced to subscribe for more than a month to get the Celestial, and Fire and Ice sets. Then whenever a new Tier 9 reward gets released (looks like it will be every 4 months) they can sub again for a month to unlock it.
Also, atm, people who have T9VIP rewards could potentially drop their subs, because all but Incarnate content is unlocked.
I was thinking about this the last few days... What if my suggestion goes through, and the VIP rewards will only be available for, and when you are a VIP.
Let me explain:
So you can pick the VIP rewards even when you do not have T4 filled. But, unless you are a VIP, you con not select the costume parts in the tailor.
Current outfits with these parts are unaffected, but when you want to change something in that outfit, it would delete the VIP costume parts, because even though you selected them, you dropped to premium.
This is next to the 400-550PP, reward token and Server Transfer token a nice incentive to stay subbed, and would make the VIP reward even more exclusive for VIPs.
Thoughts regarding this? -
Quote:They are working on PvP, but do not want to give any spoilers, so they just refuse to talk about it.Though, the pummit as a whole was pretty good, even from watching it on ustream. The audience wasn't totally ignored, but anyone asking about PvP never heard the end of "lolpvp" from the audience, and was told to stop asking about it by the moderating staff (Hit Streak, I think) and that PvP was specifically not being talked about at the pummit. Which is weird. The entire focus of the panels was to just talk with the players and not do big reveals, but oh no we can't talk about that!
I remember a diff panel where they talked asked two questions regarding PvP, and when there was a very positive answer on the amount of people who'd try out PvP if it was revamped, the dev asking the question simply glanced at War Witch and smiled.
They are doing something, also, base love.. I heard it a few years ago, and all signs points to this rumor might become reality.. i24, the return of Base Raids. -

Dark Energon hangs up the phone in his office and calls an emergency meeting with the Freedom Legion Council.
"I have received information that Lord Nemesis is heading for Paragon City." Confused faces looked at each other. "Since the Freedom Phalanx is still in a rebuilding phase, we will be the 1st line of defense."
Nephila speaks up. "I'll assemble the Spider Division. I'll also contact my guys in Arachnos to get ready to help us." Dark Energon nodded approvingly, before directing his attention to Wintersbliss. "WintersBliss, assemble a squad to go out on patrol in Talos, report and handle any signs of Nemesis activity. Bronze Bruiser, select partner and start scanning the rest of the city for Nemesis activity. I'll inform the rest of the Legion to report any suspicious activity to me directly."
Dark Energon stands up, a cold and serious look has replaced his normal outgoing demeanor. "This is serious guys. Whatever Lord Nemesis has planned, if he personally leads this attack, we must bring our A game to the table. The only man who has been able to stop him, is no longer with us." Dark Energon continues with an angry tone: "We must stop this this in it's tracks, before we loose more control of the City. The citizens of Paragon City are counting on us! I know that we can han..."
Before he can finish his sentence, Dark Energon is interrupted by personnel at the command station. "Sir, we have an unidentified vessel in the Atlantic Ocean. A few clicks off the coast of Talos Island." "Put it on the A.E.S." Dark Energon replies. Everyone stares at the screens, looking at the submarine heading to Talos Island.
"Neph, get your guys there ASAP!" Nephila stands up, activating his VEAT distress beacon, alarming all VEATs in the Legion to go to his location. Arachnos-Elite follows him, calling his guys from the Arachnos-Elite Soldiers VG to assemble in Talos Island. Nephila turns around, looking at Arachnos-Elite, a grin on his face. "Welcome back Mac, you made it just in time for the fireworks." Arachnos-Elite smiles back. "Glad to be back, but you know we'd be fighting with you anyways." "We know." Nephila replies.
"Hey Mac." Dark Energon says just before Arachnos-Elite walks out the room, making him turn around. "Go see KinetX before you leave, he made something for you." Arachnos-Elite nods, turns around and walks out the door.
Seconds later a male voice announces over the PA system: "All personnel report to your battle stations, this is not a drill. I repeat. This is not a drill."
Dark Energon looks around the table. "Stay safe out there guys." the Councillors stand up, nod and get going. On their way to fight yet another thread to Paragon City.
Dark Energon picks up the phone. "Jenny, get in contact will our Coalitions, and all the other SG's, brief them about the situation, and get me on the phone with Positron." "Right away Sir." She replies. -
It's been a while since i posted in here.....
We have had many successful events...
From LGTF, Dual ITF, weekly Rikti Raids to GM Hunting.
People were kind enough to start donating inf for the GM Kill shot on the Rikti Raid, and after my initial 50mill bounty, it grew to 1.25Bill as prize inf for the 1st time i thought of this. Since then we had several prizes for the GM Kill shot, most notable are the 30 day VIP time card donated by @Skullhack while the 1.5Bill prize is still the largest amount of inf to date.
I'd also like to inform people that on May 12th, we'll have our 1st W.A.V.E. Hami Raid held after the Rikti Raid.
The Empire of the Damned SG has been kind enough to lend us a hand in leading this, and will provide support roles, roles that a VEAT simply can not take on.
This will be held at 7pm PST/ 10pm EST in the Hive. If people want to join, please make sure your VEAT is a Hero, Vigilante or Rogue, and at least level 45 to enter the zone. The Rikti Raid will start forming at 5:30pm PST/ 8:30pm EST, and will start at 6pm PST/ 9pm EST sharp, this so we can be in the Hive on time.
It would also be useful to enter their Hami raid upcoming Friday, so you can see what it's like, or get a refresh course.
Again, thank you all for making this event a pleasant time for not only myself, but for all who joined week in week out.
I just want to thank everyone for their continued support of the Weekly All VEAT Event! You guys make it a great weekly experience! -
I hope people had fun at game night, and even more fun tomorrow at the Player's Summit.
*/em Shake Fist* I'll be there next time!

Quote:Partially you are right, however, you did not count the 6 tokens to slot the VIP rewards.Just FYI, it's less than $500.
You need 34 tokens to start slotting in T9VIP. You need 37 tokens to fully slot out a T9 costume set.
Everyone starts with a token. A VIP will have one more token by the end of their month, so that's two tokens. We COULD value their month at the highest possible dollar value, $20 for the game card (which are ridiculously hard to find now) - more likely $15 for a standard retail month.
Buying points the first time gets you one token, that's three total. Buying the $100 bundle gets you 8 tokens, for 11. Buy the $100 bundle three more times for 24 more tokens, that brings you up to 35 tokens. Buy the $15 bundle twice for two more tokens and a goodly portion toward another token.
This gets you to T9 and three tokens socketed in for a full T9VIP costume set.
$15 VIP month
$100 bundle x4
$15 bundle x2
= $445, not "over $500". A considerable savings. Still a very large amount to spend in one sitting, but MUCH lower than your exaggeration. Minus $30 if all you're doing is getting to T9 (technically, you will be T9 with a leftover token).
And this is only true for a brand new player, because players with old accounts will be higher up the reward tree.
1200PP for 1 token, is 8 Tokens for 9600PP=$100
40 Tokens to fully slot everything, skipping the T9 Repeatable awards.
40/8=5
Meaning:
1 Token for VIP = $ 15,-
5 x $100 = $500,-
Total, with 3 tokens left = $515,-
Granted, this is from Start to finish on a fully new account.
I hear you say: "You overpaid for 3 Tokens."
Ok, let us see some other options.
1 Token for VIP = $ 15,-
4 x $100 for 32 tokens = $400,-
1 x $50 for 3.8* Tokens = $ 50,-
2 x $15,- for 2.2** token = $ 30,-
*0.8 + **0.2 = 1 Token = $ 0,-
Total, with 0 Tokens left = $495,-
And even that is close to $500, - total for a totally new account, and yes, i understand that older accounts are closer to filling T9VIP, and thus spend less money, however that is still not my point.
My point is that the VIP system discriminates between the VIP player base.
And i believe that PS will make more money off transactions if they would allow all VIPs to pick the VIP rewards.
If people are halted in their Reward Tree progress, they are more likely to spend a few bucks extra here and there to either pick the VIP rewards or progress further in their Reward Tree because they picked a VIP reward a few times, than they are spending $200-$500 on a game they just started playing, not knowing if they will stay yes or no.
It is far more plausible that people will stay subbed longer if this change is made, and would increase the monthly income for PS.
EDIT: I did not count the Token at the end of the month, since if the player does not stay subbed, he is not able to slot the T9VIP reward with that token.
Also, the token which is granted for buying points the 1st time is counted in, but not noted. -
Quote:Set it to not attack persons from that SG/VG, instead of alignment.Aside from the base defense items horribly destroying the villains that wandered into the hero base?
Quote:
Guess you missed the next line, and the sarcasm part of that remark i made. -
Quote:I created my own SG, but still have a lot of other players joined.I think that the players that would support the OP's idea are ones most likely running solo SG's where they don't have a conflict of interest, which is why I said earlier the idea would best work with personal lairs.
I am the leader, and i understand that people wanna go red side for badges or content for a bit, and i will not kick them out.
I do also understand that the Devs might want to limit certain aspects, like earning prestige. But to just deny access to a base, even when I as SG leader have an alt going red side for badges, or do not mind when someone else does the same is imo, limiting the imagination of the player base.
Hence i suggested making it an option for the SG leader:
-Allow/deny access to Base
-Allow/deny access to storage
-Allow/Deny access to base/storage per rank
These systems are in place in an SG already, would be simple coding to be able to set these per alignment too.
If you are in, or have an SG where you do not trust your SG members, that is YOUR issue. I know almost all my SG members, and i trust them. Ranks work this way.. the more i trust you, the higher in rank you will rise, meaning the more storage is opened for you. -
Quote:Indeed, VIP Rewards it are not the Tier 9 Repeatable rewards. And actually, currently, VIPs who have filled T8, can skip the T9 Repeatable rewards. You're proposing that instead of having to take a reward from their current level, people can choose a reward from the top level instead. How is that not cherry-picking?
Tier nine is not 'the VIP rewards'. Tier nine of the reward tree is tier nine of the reward tree. VIPs get access to additional goodies at that level, once they have reached tier nine of the tree. Allowing people to take shinies from higher levels is cherry-picking, and it undermines the structured reward system.
My suggestion is just to open up the VIP rewards to ALL VIPs, not open up the whole reward tree.
If this is cherry picking your reward, then so is the current system, since i can pick my reward in my Tier and leave some rewards for later, and even skip the T9 rewards in general.
VIP rewards should be for all VIPs. -
Quote:Please explain how Vanguard works? It's also a perfectly valid argument that SG's/VG's that have members in the process of switching sides should incur penalties like prestige loss and other things because the actions of said "Renegade" members are ruining the reputation of heroic/villainous groups. Because any Heroic or Villainous group that allows it's renagade members to use it's facilities while performing feats that are contrary to the faction it is aligned with is condoning those actions.
And as much as some people don't like it, the devs have made it abundantly clear that SG's are multi-player content regardless of the fact that many of us jump thru hoops to use SG's/bases as personal solo content.
Now having personal/secret lairs would avoid that argument entirely because they wouldn't rely on prestige/public opinion.
Villains, Rogues, Heroes and Vigilantes.. using the same hospital, same base, same Teleporters, same crafting tables.
I think an option for the SG leader to either allow access, stop access, or even give full access would be nice.
Sometimes, people go undercover.
Would be funny if an undercover cop can't enter the police station, access his locker or talk to the captain to inform him of certain events.
PS: Batman, Catwoman... Vigilante and Rogue.. but she can enter the Batcave. -
There is.. it's called the Reward Tree.
Quote:/unsigned.
Anyone who wants them can PAY FOR THEM NOW.
That's the whole point.
T9VIP: for VIPs only.. yet, it discriminates between VIPs.
People are more likely to stay subbed if they can actually get the VIP stuff if it is not locked in behind a time or significant amount of money paid upfront. -
