Ok, since i had some feedback regarding last event, i'm thinking about this:
Spring Fling Event, missions....
Widow in Red
Ms. Liberty (Heroes) and Arbiter Hawk (Villains) have recruited you for a secret mission involving the infamous Red Widow, Lord Recluse's long-deceased love. This mission is available for characters level 30 or higher, and awards the Widow Maker badge for completion!
Quote:Fitting theme for VEATs, don't you think?New for 2012 - Widow In Red- Jessica Megan Duncan is present in Pocket D for the Spring Fling. She is looking for Heroes security level 30 or higher for a mission of redemption. The target? Stefan Richter, also known as Lord Recluse. Can the power of love soften his heart, or is it more likely Recluse's heart no longer exists?
- Villains of threat level 30 or higher should be advised that Arbiter Hawk has been sent to Pocket D for the duration of the Spring Fling. The Arbiter is recruiting for a secret project concerning Arachnos's greatest assassin.
- Completion of either new Spring Fling story arc awards a new seasonal badge.
Also, we can run both arcs.. Villain arc if we have Villain Only, and Hero arc for the Hero VEATs.
Rogue and Vigilantes can join each side, if there is enough room on the team.
What you guys and gals think? -
Quote:Makes for a neat card 'trick' tho :PYeah, I did some testing and it looks bugged. I don't know if the cards used a calculated distance or collision detection to explode when they hit the ground, but it's broken.
I tested it on top of the train station. I watched with my camera pulled way back and saw the cards fall THROUGH the roof of the train station, THROUGH the platform, and into the ground. I tried it again high up in the air and the cards just kept falling as far as I could watch them.
But yeah, seriously, it needs fixed. -
Until you provide a link, i'll just say your trying to make yourself look good while claiming to have inside knowledge, which you don't.

Quote:I'd summon <censored because i don't want to get banned> 15 times a day just so i could beat the Crab outta that person!A scroll that summons a CoH staff member would be pretty sweet though.
I'd also summon Zwill and Beastyle a few times, they seem fun to hang around with. -
Quote:no, just simple +0X1 for now, gotta test drive before you make it harder, right?.Wow! Very impressive Neph - gratz! What diff were you on? 0x8?
I did have two people farming the wall during the 1st 3 missions, so it kinda was x3 for those.
I just wanted to see if i can do it, and i'll keep pushing Neph to do better.
Still, no matter how others look at it and what others think, i'm proud that Neph could handle this solo. -
Most of the replies have the statement "Too hard for low levels"
Ambushes, enemy groups that are over powering and such, and thats why i think that my idea could work, not being level 1-20 while doing missions there.
As a level 50 you'd start off as 20 levels lower while in Nova Praetoria and full Incarnate 50 while in Neutropolis, here is a break down.
You're level 30-40 in Nova Praetorian Missions, not 1-10. In Imperial City you're level 40-50, instead of 5-15. And Neutropolis you'll fight at you native level 50+. This would open up more powers, making it easier to deal with the enemy groups. -
You <bleep>ing <bleep>head.. looking at the <bleep>ing header i thought u were going to say you were going to <bleep>ing leave us.
<bleep>ing damn you!
ps: Lub ya! -
I think i have an idea to make Praetoria come back to life.
Praetoria is nice looking, has some great story lines, was very popular when it just came out. However, when the shininess faded, and several flaws behind it surfaced, more and more people began to avoid it.
I made 1 Praetorian, the 1st day GR went live, she made it to Primal Earth and is to date the only Praetorian i made.
I know the Devs have spent a lot of time, resources, blood, sweat and tears in the whole Going Rogue content including a gorgeous new world, and i am sure they have not expected that it would be as empty as it is now.
Less than two years after launch, i'm spending 30 minutes here, and i see nobody. People on my server admit that they like the content, but the draw of it is gone, and only a handful make new toons there.
So i started thinking of ways to re-populate Praetoria.
When making a new toon, people who are VIP can go to Praetoria, but can not do missions there, so why not change that?
Have two new contacts, one contact to let you become a member of the Resistance, and one to join the Power Division.
these contacts will give a new mission so you can join the fight of their cause, much like the way we can now switch alignments.
this would also benefit the older toons, since they can now join the Praetorian story line too. However, i think it would be smart to scale the mission level to either the level of the toon, or scale the level of the toon a little lower. My thought have them go 20 levels lower while doing Nova Praetoria arcs, 10 levels lower while doing Imperial City Arcs, and natural level while in Neutropolis. Have the level also scale up the deeper you go into the story arc, much like leveling up a new toon would.
Since we are now doing Resistance and Loyalists arc, we should also be able to make the choices the toons have who started in Praetoria, their version of Alignment switching. This so the 'Resistance Member', 'Loyalist' and 'On Moral High ground' will become available for toons that started in Primal Earth.
Additionally, this would also tie in the addition to Praetorian zone Beacons for use in Primal Earth SGs and VGs. Making it also one step closer to adding Villain zone beacons to Hero SGs and vice versa.
This all would eliminate a lot of uneccecasry travel from zone to zone. SG/VG bases should be brought back to the transportation hub it was, and this would be a solid reason as to why the 'other side's' beacons are added to each base.
Thank you for your time reading this, and i love to hear feedback and ideas. -
You disgust me!
Just like this thread which caused a lot of stir:

Ok, since it was in the middle of my night when i posted this, i didn't feel like writing a story for it.. so, here goes.
1st Mission, no real issues.
1st time i died was cause i couldn't get my heal off in time. 2nd time was on top of the mountain, tried pulling one but the whole mob (and then some) came, used a wakie thinking i was clear but got ganged up on again.
After i got up again it was easy.
(No temps used, no Lore used)
2nd mission, no real issues.
figured i'd be smart and save the ambushes for last. I'd take the crystals down to about 500hp, and move to the next one.
Pretty simple tactic, only got in over my head a few times. Also waiting a split second to long with healing can, and it did, kill me a few times.
(No temps used, no Lore used)
3rd mission, squishy mode.
1st few generals were fine, even the general with the Minotaurs and Cyclopses. Even though mobs kept coming, and coming, and coming, and coming. It took me a while to get them all down, really annoying when u almost have the last two EB's down and a patrol with a few healers decides to help out.
The next general however was a PITA, well, not him, just the amount, and type of EB's got the best of me.. several times.
Up to the puter: Used lore for the 1st time at 2nd stage. I got killed just before 10% mark. Got back in, and was a swift ending to the cpu.
Used Raptor pack to fly up, pick out Requiem. Fight at ground level. Fight was pretty simple, he couldn't really damage me, however i did need to use the temp power 'Recovery Serum' to keep my end up from the continues attacks.
Up came Romulus, and my god, he is a PITA.
His main attacks could kill me in 3 blows, and he did..several times. Worst yet, he is a freaking runner. 1st dropped 'Back Up Radio', Romi started running, never seem my back up again >.<. Lore came back up, so i dropped it, same as my 1st 'Shivan Shard', decided to just start running circles around him, and that tactic worked better. I'm glad for some reason he stayed focused on me, and not my Shivan, since i couldn't really do much melee damage like i did with Requiem, my Shivan was picking up my slack.
(Temp powers: Recovery Serum, Back Up Radio, Shivan Shard. Lore used 2x)
4th Mission, mixed feeling.
Started off bad, real bad. Got killed twice before i even hit the bridge.
This actually ticked me off so bad that it made me focus more. From there it was smooth sailing.
Always nice to see my Ion Judgement used on the platform.. was thinking about a pic, but was too late, next time.
Nictus Romi: Saw he was doing the same thing as previous mission.. run.
Dropping my Shivan was, uhm.. yeah, at least my temp pets kept the nictus busy >.<. Again using my own running tactic to keep Romi in place, while Shivan, and now my HVAS are keeping nictus busy, i had to try and keep his regen low. I was prepared tho... Nukes, Hand grenades, Molotov Cocktails, gabriel's Hammer and Envenomed Dagger helped me kill him.
Once he died, my pets got mezzed, and instead of attacking nictus, the attacked Romi, chasing him up the south hill where he died for the 2nd time. Then it happend....
He didn't rez! Both nictus' went back to Romi's spawn point, and i didn't know what to do. Looking around, i didn't see Romi, and the Nictus was now AV type. I attacked the Nictus, hoping it's death would bring back Romi, no luck. 2nd time i killed it, the 'Beat Romi' disappeared from my nav bar. Killed the remaining 25 tritors and TF complete.
(Temps used: HVAS, Shivan Shard x2, Envenomed Dagger, Gabriel's Hammer, Molotov Cocktail, Hand Grenades, Nuclear Missile, Enchantment of Serafina, Biological Missile. Lore 1)
Overall, not bad. I could speed things up, but at the risk of placing my self at risk.
18 deaths: A few might also come from two people farming the wall while i was on the 1st 3 missions.
Nictus Romi: Kinda left me with a bad taste. It wasn't Romi, it was Nictus, and Nictus doesn't really attack.
Conclusion...
I will do this again, and improve my time, and my death count. -
Took me 3hrs 19 Min and 12 sec, with 18 deaths, but i might just be the 1st VEAT on our server to solo the ITF.

1st W.A.V.E. was a great success! Thank you all for coming out.
We had people coming an hour early, just to get a spot.
So to make sure people didn't just show early for a short SF, i decided to do a 2nd SF after that. Since all 8 were level 50, i asked what people thought of doing the Lord Recluse Strike Force after doing Morty... the response was positive.
Mortimer Kal Strike Force
Lord Recluse Strike Force.
Thank you all for joining the 1st Weekly All VEAT Event... many will follow.
Any ideas for the next SF/TF? -
We, on Guardian, have a weekly Arena event called FNFN, more info in my signature.
We also have a few Arena matches during the week. I'm actually one of the more active PvP players on my server and our PvP base is trying to get more PvP going on the server. -

I'm game, u know that.
Not for the prize, but for the fun of it. -
No, i'm jealous that you got a pic of such a tasty treat and i didn't know it existed.
Looking at your points, it does sound like it can be done, however i think the profit would not be as high since they have to have a 3rd party to do all this.
And that might end up costing Paragon Studios money if it isn't a huge success. -
Quote:Not feasible.Oh is that all we're doing? Okay that's easy to do. If the company wants to make ore money they can sell something everyone wants.
Glazed Bacon Donuts.
Package'em in a CoH themed box (like the donut shop in Faultline) and sell them by the dozen on the Paragon Market for 800 points S&H included in the price.
They'd make a hell of a lot more money off of this than any other idea suggested so far in this thread.
Who, and where will they bake these, and don't forget packing and shipping costs. Plus i doubt that they can send them to the east coast or Europe and still be fresh.
BTW, since there is meat on the donuts, they can't even ship it out of the country.
They'll loose money on each of these great donuts they sell.

Darth Vader, on a police motorcycle, in space? O.o

Quote:Funny since i have been pretty quiet about it till you only highlighted part of my post and went into detail regarding things i never said. My reply was short and to the point.Yes, you've explained that. Multiple times. Every time someone brings up a valid reason they don't like your idea, you assume they've just misunderstood and explain it again. Everyone understands your idea just fine. We just don't think it's a fine idea.
Oh, and turn We into You. Some oppose this suggestion, and mine, and that is fine. Some however do think it is feasible. So there can't be a WE, since you can't talk for everyone.
Quote:I don't give a damn whether the ads are actually placed in the game, in the forum, or on the main page of the website... the sale of ad space within City of Heroes to third parties has already been tried and dismissed as not worth it -- and last time, all it was was billboards that didn't require any interaction on the part of the player at all, and were in places where there were already fake billboards. An idea that actually requires people to seek out the ads on their own is going to go over even worse.
Having a small section in the forums where people KNOW where to find this, wouldn't be so hard to find.
Quote:Third-party advertising isn't likely to happen again in any form. The end.
Matt 'Positron' Miller: "Alignment Switch tokens will be made available on the Paragon Market, and will instantly allow Heroes/Villains to switch to Villains/Heroes." This was said late 2011, while discussing the new Alignment switch token.
Just goes to show that if there is money that could be made, people will explore the possibilities.
Quote:...to you, who are apparently just dead-set on beating this horse. The idea that makes the most sense to me is to not implement a plan that involves possibly exposing your customers to ripoffs, malware or identity theft.
At least some of us are trying to come up with a new source of income for the game, while others only want to bash peoples ideas and make themselves look good.
And if you don't want to be ripped off, get malware or viruses, or become a victim of Identity Theft i suggest you leave 'Facialbook' alone too.
Quote:After the fact. Which is all well and good if everything runs smoothly. But if it doesn't, and one of these advertisers is a sham (or worse), that won't become apparent until something has already happened to someone, probably multiple someones. The only way to be absolutely sure would be to hire people -- likely a whole team of them -- to monitor all aspects of the setup.
ps: 2 people is a team too :P
If Paragon Studios adopts a 'No refund' clause, have the survey company submit it's link to PS, and one employee tests the link out to see what it does, that could be the 1st step in making this more secure. -
Quote:Please tell me you are messing with me.I can't speak to anyone else's playstyle but my own—but I do indeed end up using all 90 slots, and indeed having them all visible at once in many cases.
For example, here's a screenshot of one of my CoH characters in question.
I have 9 global channels added to the same chat tab, and have several tabs to pick a specific channel if needed. The way you have set it up, is clutter. You even have a chat tab that is just empty. 7 tabs visible is waaay to much.
The Paragon Market and Paragon Reward buttons can be hidden, access to both are on the menu tab.
5 out of those 6 Naga trays can be closed.
If you know how to look, you can switch trays without wasting much time, the - and = buttons will swap trays. I have 5 trays in 1 with this method, i can switch to an empty tray for Keyes and Lambda so the temps will fall in there and i'll have easy access to them. example: 5 trays in 1.. meaning middle tray is 3, when done with power/tray, make a habit of setting the tray back to 3, that way you only have to go two trays max to find a power.
The last naga tray could be the two for macro's, switch according to the trial you do.
Close the I/O window, u really need to see each drop?
Simple button click will open it, and close it.
If this screenshot is really how you play, then my tips will reduce your clutter.
However, i have the feeling you are just making it look worse then it is, and intentionally clutter your screen with these for the photo shoot.
Looking at your chat tabs, your double temp powers and a few more things, including the pet window while on a brute, i think my reason for believing this theory is valid.
My sincere apologies if this is not the case.
I do not mind more trays, don't get me wrong about this.
But people need to stop making a papercut look like they got stabbed by a sword. -
Quote:Patrice is female, and yeah, i looked up her last posts, and indeed she did post it in french two days before she left.7deCoeur PMed me last Friday to apologize that he/she (not sure if the name Patrice is male or female) still didn't have my code for winning the contest on the 18th, and also to say that it was his/her last day at Paragon Studios.
I think s/he posted a farewell in French, but I'm not sure because I can't read French.
Sad to see her go
